  • How to access MyProject.MySettings.Default.SomeSetting from xaml?

    I have defined a StringCollection in the Project Settings. I want to use the values in a ComboBox. Is there a way to access it xamly? I tried: <CollectionViewSource Source="{x:Static src:MySettings.Default.MyCollection}" /> <CollectionViewSource x:Key="RoomSections" Source="{x:Static src:MySettings.Default.RoomSections}" /> *src is the xmlns of the project It says: "Type src:MySettings.Default was not found". The thing is that MySettings is a class that offers a Default property which is a thread-safe instance of MySettings, I really want to get the collection from the Default property and not by instantiating a new on. Is there other ways I am not aware of, maybe ObjectDataProvider can access static objects? I thought, maybe I can make in the App.xaml a global resource that return MySettings.Default which is an instance of the MySettings class, and then access all its properties, I will try that out, but I prefer the easy way.

  • jna call to kernel32.CreateToolhelp32Snapshot in shutdown hook crashes the VM

    If a thread sets a shutdown hook using Runtime.getRuntime().addShutdownHook(); calls via jna the method: kernel32.CreateToolhelp32Snapshot (0x00000002, 0) it crashes the VM. If I call the same method in the WindowListener.windowClosing() hook, the call does not crashes the VM. Any idea why?     I'm able to update the status on my PROFILE wall using this code: require_once 'facebook-platform/php/facebook.php'; $facebook = new Facebook('APP API KEY','APP SECRET KEY'); $user_id = 'MY USER ID'; $facebook->api_client->users_setStatus('This is a new status'); ...after authorizing using this address: http://facebook.com/authorize.php?api_key=MYAPPAPIKEY&v=1.0&ext_perm=publish_stream This code, however, does not work to update the status on my Facebook PAGE Wall. Are there additional parameters that I can add to the authorize.php url to specify authorizing the PAGE and not just my profile? Or, are there better ways to post updates to Fan Page Walls? Thanks!

How do I send notifications to users so they show up in the Notifications globe icon tab on the top left of a user's Facebook page? Some applications I use have their notifications show up there, but I don't see how that mechanism works in Facebook's API docs. Neither are there any permissions which seem to be required to send users notifications.

    On a click of a button named "Add Textbox" it calls a function which creates a single textbox using (gtk.Entry) function. So each time i click that button it creates a textbox. I have a submit button which should fetches all the values of the text boxes(say 10 textboxes) generated with the name of "entry". It works for one textbox but not for multiple. In php we can create dynamix textboxes mentioning as an array name=entry[]. Do we have similar functionality in python ? Enviroment : FC10 , Glade 3 , Python 2.5 , GTK.

    I'm having some trouble with switching to the new JS API for a number of things with creating applications within FB, specifically the "Tab". <!-- function do_perm() { Facebook.showPermissionDialog('publish_stream,email,offline_access', null); } //--> This no longer works for me when called via an onclick command. Also, with the new API and an FBML app. How does this exactly work? The documentation is really poor so I am confused when looking at the old wiki, and the new developer site. Apologies for being pretty vague, but I'm just generally confused with the lack of clear direction with the new API and help would be greatly appreciated. I'm simply just trying to create a call that prompts for the new style user permission dialog, and oncomplete calls another JS function.

    We have a framework that offers A/B split testing. You have a 'champion' version of a page and you develop a 'challenger' version of it. Then you run the website and allocate some of your users the champion and some the challenger and measure their different responses. If the challenger is better than the champion at achieving your metrics then you dethrone the champion and develop a new challenger... My question is what mechanisms should I consider to allocate the versions? A number of options spring to mind: odd or even IP address (or sub-segments) ****.****.****.123 gets champion but .124 gets challenger cookie push - check for a champion/challenger cookie, if it doesn't exist randomly allocate the user to one and push the cookie Best practice? suggestions? comments? experience?

This is precisely why Unity is crashing on the phone, DynamicMethodConstructorStrategy class uses System.Reflection.Emit quite extensively... So the question is, what alternative to Unity is there for Windows Phone 7?

  • fql query problem in php

    I want to fetch the names of users on facebook. For that, I tried using FQL query. The code is, $result = $facebook->api_client->fql_query("SELECT name FROM user WHERE uid='$user_id'); But there is some problem with this. I guess the query is not getting executed or it is returning null values. I also tried using users.getInfo as follows, $result = $facebook->api_client->users_getInfo($user_id,'name'); But again, the same problem. I tried to display the array as, echo $result['name]; So, I tried both the codes as, if(!$facebook->api_client->fql_query("SELECT name FROM user WHERE uid='$user_id')) { echo "Error."; } I have included both facebook.php and facebookapi_php5_restlib.php in my php file. Where am i going wrong?

    we're considering migrating our UI to XBAP. we've chosen XBAP despite knowing the clients must have .net pre-installed, since we're not targeting the masses but rather IT professionals in the corporate environment, and it's a way to preserve our investment (in a WPF based UI in a client-server architecture) and enjoy web deployment. however, we are concerned about the maturity of the platform/architecture and it's adoption. do you know of any commercial applications out there using XBAP, and do you have any experience using it? can you elaborate on that experience? also, as @Murph suggested, can you think of strong reasons to prefer clickOnce over XBAP (or the other way around)?

  • Load Assembly in New AppDomain without loading it in Parent AppDomain

    I am attempting to load a dll into a console app and then unload it and delete the file completely. The problem I am having is that the act of loading the dll in its own AppDomain creates a reference in the Parent AppDomain thus not allowing me to destroy the dll file unless I totally shut down the program.   • Weird response for controller.request.format.html? in Rails

However, I get "5" for the ...html? line if the request comes from Facebook. Why would a method with a ? ever return a "5"? Isn't that against Rails conventions? Also, I think "5" is considered true so this might mess up my filters. Still looking into that... Any ideas?

In first stage: Dynamic Data But the community size, books absence and the last modification dates of the MSDN articles (~July 2008) makes me want to hear your experiences. (actually DynamicData comes as a part of the ASP.Net MVC2 project) What has been your experience with Dynamic Data? And... What is your favorite ASP.Net RAD alternative? Why?   • What is the best "forgot my password" method?

    I'm programming a community website. I want to build a "forgot my password" feature. Looking around at different sites, I've found they employ one of three options: send the user an email with a link to a unique, hidden URL that allows him to change his password (Gmail and Amazon) send the user an email with a new, randomly generated password (Wordpress) send the user his current password (www.teach12.com) Option #3 seems the most convenient to the user but since I save passwords as an MD5 hash, I don't see how option #3 would be available to me since MD5 is irreversible. This also seems to be insecure option since it means that the website must be saving the password in clear text somewhere, and at the least the clear-text password is being sent over insecure e-mail to the user. Or am I missing something here? So if I can't do option #1, option #2 seems to be the simplest to program since I just have to change the user's password and send it to him. Although this is somewhat insecure since you have to have a live password being communicated via insecure e-mail. However, this could also be misused by trouble-makers to pester users by typing in random e-mails and constantly changing passwords of various users. Option #1 seems to be the most secure but requires a little extra programming to deal with a hidden URL that expires etc., but it seems to be what the big sites use. What experience have you had using/programming these various options? Are there any options I've missed?

  • Catching an exception when trying to launch a URL service from within Safari on an iPhone

    Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knows - if I have an iPhone app that is registered with a URL service (e.g. alocola://), which means another app can invoke it by calling its URL - is there any way to embed this URL in an HTML page, and catch the exception if the app is not installed on the user's iPhone? Or in other words / more details: I would like to write an app that conforms to some URL invocation (like alocola:// is doing), but would like this app to be launched from a web page read by mobile Safari. However, if the app is not installed on the user's iphone, I would like to be able to display a note saying "you must have the alocola app installed on your iPhone, please download it from the app store by clicking here". Is there a way (perhaps using javascript) to have Safari indicate that the URL cannot be invoked, and catch this in order to display an intelligent message? Thanks :-) Ariel

  • Mac OS X Development.

    Hi All, I would love to begin developing applications for the MAC OS X, although I have to idea where to start. Problem: I currently do not, and cannot afford a new MAC OS X-based computer. Solution: A very good friend loves trying out things that I've made for Windows, and also owns a MAC OS X computer, and is willing to test these new creations. Now I am faced with another problem. I don't know which language to use to develop these apps in. I am a .NET Developer and seeing as though I can only use a Windows based PC to develop MAC apps, where should I start? I've heard of Mono, and have used it on Linux before, would Mono be an option for MAC development on a Windows based computer, too? Are there any other ways around this?
