• Reading in MIPS external file so another file can use it?

  Hey all, I'm working on this final thing for my MIPS project and it's deceptively easy. I need to get a procedure (called feed) and let its main driver program use it by reading it in. I know that I'm supposed to use the call code 14 and .globl sym (I think) in order to feed it into the file and have it read it. I just need a basic tutorial or something, as I CANNOT find it on the Internet or in my book (just lists the call code, real helpful). Here's what I know: I need to use read, but I also need a file descriptor (don't know where to get it). I need to put the buffer in $a1 and the length in $a2. Well, that's about it. If there's any decent tutorial you could whip up or if there is one online that I don't see let me know please :). I just need a push in the right direction, I'm sure it can't be too difficult, just can't find any info on it!

  Hi, I have 3 SQL tables, defined as follows: CREATE TABLE organs( abbreviation VARCHAR(16), -- ... other stuff ); CREATE TABLE blocks( abbreviation VARCHAR(16), -- ... other stuff ); CREATE TABLE slides( title VARCHAR(16), -- ... other stuff ); The 3 fields above all use VARCHAR(16) because they're related and have the same length restriction. Is there a (preferably portable) way to put '16' into a constant / variable and reference that instead in CREATE TABLE? eg. something like this would be nice: CREATE TABLE slides( title VARCHAR(MAX_TITLE_LENGTH), -- ... other stuff ); I'm using PostgreSQL 8.4. thanks a lot, and Happy New Year! cheers.

• How to arrange labels in a flowlayout manner?

  How do I arrange some UILabels and/or UIButtons of a variable length? I just want to add them to a UITableViewCell and they should arrange in a left-to-right flow, much like lines of text in a paragraph. I only found possibilities to create lables with a fixed size and position using "initWithFrame:...". Same seems to be true for Interface Builder, as far as I can tell. Any solution is appreciated no matter if it's done in code or using a custom cell XIB-file.

  Hello. I'm building a multiplayer game on the iPhone and I need to send string data to the other players in the game. To do that, I need to encapsulate my NSString* string data in an NSData object somehow. Here's an example of how my code is structured... typedef struct { PACKETTYPE packetType; ??? stringToSend; //<---not sure how to store this } StringPacket; StringPacket msg; msg.packetType = STRING_PACKET; msg.stringToSend = ... // <---not sure what to do here NSData *packet = [NSData dataWithBytes:&msg length:sizeof(StringPacket)]; So my question is, if StringPacket is a struct defined in my header, what type should the stringToSend property be so that I can easily call the dataWithBytes method of NSData to encapsulate the packet data in an NSData object? • Javascript === vs == : Does it matter which "equal" operator I use?

  I'm using JSLint to go through some horrific JavaScript at work and it's returning a huge number of suggestions to replace == with === when doing things like comparing 'idSele_UNVEHtype.value.length == 0' inside of an if statement. I'm basically wondering if there is a performance benefit to replacing == with ===. Any performance improvement would probably be welcomed as there are hundreds (if not thousands) of these comparison operators being used throughout the file. I tried searching for relevant information to this question, but trying to search for something like '=== vs ==' doesn't seem to work so well with search engines...

  So I'm trying to use javascript to pop up a video, and need to know when I'm in an iframe so I can resize the video accordingly. • Facebook iframe app redirecting https to http, how?

  I'm trying to get an app working within Facebook, but it seems that no matter what I try including forcing just https in the app settings (see screen shot), the iframe source (Facebooks canvas) seems to change the https address to http (301) which is then producing SEC7111: HTTPS security errors in IE?   I use SPs and this isn't an SP vs code-behind "Build your SQL command" question. I'm looking for a high-throughput method for a backend app that handles many small transactions. I use SQLDataReader for most of the returns since forward only works in most cases for me. I've seen it done many ways, and used most of them myself. Methods that define and accept the stored procedure parameters as parameters themselves and build using cmd.Parameters.Add (with or without specifying the DB value type and/or length) Assembling your SP params and their values into an array or hashtable, then passing to a more abstract method that parses the collection and then runs cmd.Parameters.Add Classes that represent tables, initializing the class upon need, setting the public properties that represent the table fields, and calling methods like Save, Load, etc I'm sure there are others I've seen but can't think of at the moment as well. I'm open to all suggestions.

• In Perl, is there a built in way to compare two arrays for equality?

  I have two arrays of strings that I would like to compare for equality: my @array1 = ("part1", "part2", "part3", "part4"); my @array2 = ("part1", "PART2", "part3", "part4"); Is there a built-in way to compare arrays like there is for scalars? I tried: if (@array1 == @array2) {...} but it just evaluated each array in scalar context, and so compared the length of each array. I can roll my own function to do it, but it seems like such a low-level operation that there should be a built-in way to do it. Is there? Edit: sadly, I don't have access to 5.10+ or optional components.

• Why does set key not do anything in AES/SymmetricAlgorithm?

  This MESSED ME UP hard. I thought i was setting the key but i was not. No exceptions, nothing happen except bad results. Why is there a setter if everything is ignored and no exceptions are thrown when i attempt to write? What is the point of the setter on the Keys property? When i do the below Key value are not changed. After an hour when i realize what was happening i wrote the loop to verify. I also tried aes.Key[0] = val; var b = val == aes.Key[0]; (and messed with it in immediate mode). Why does it have this behavior? The UML given specifies the return type to be of static byte[] that accepts the arguments (String, byte) So far, looks like this: public static byte[] convertNumToDigitArray(String number, byte numDigits) { } This method is supposed to convert a number (as a String) to an array of bytes. The ordering must go from most to least significant digits. For example, if the number String is “732” then index 0 of the array should contain 7. The last argument (numDigits) should match the length of the string passed in. How do I do this?

In the success() function though console.log (globalTitle); constantly gives me "a". It's like the variable is assigned but is then cached every time success() is called. Happens in FF 4 and Chrome 8. Any thoughts?

  I am trying to create a regex to gather info from strings that look like this: A22xB67-E34... for any number. I have the regex: @spaceCode = "[A-Z]([A-Z0-9][0-9]|[0-9])" @moveCode=/^(?<one>#{@spaceCode})((?<mode>x|\-)(?<two>#{@spaceCode}))+$/ However I get: s="A11-A22xA33".scan(@moveCode) => [["A11", "11", "xA33", "x", "A33", "33"]] which is most definatly NOT what I want. The string could be any length of C22 etc, with either x or - as the seperator, and put it into an array like: ['A22','x',B22','-'.......] Examples: "A22xB23-D23xE25" => ['A22','x','B23','=','D23','E25;] "AA2xA9-A1" => ['AA2','x','A9','-','A1']
