• Unable to access MySQL from MyPHPAdmin after setting root password in EasyPHP{WAMP}

  Am a new starter with WAMP and trying to play around my way using the EasyPHP setup. After successful setup on intial launch of MySQL, the page prompted me to set up ROOT password for security reasons. On setting the password, am no longer able to access MySQL. The error is : Error MySQL said: Documentation 1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) Looked up on the net and tried the following options in the config.inc.php from the phpmyadmin foler: 1] Set the authetication to "http" so that it prompts to enter the username and password /* Authentication type */ $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'http'; 2] Set up the correct password in the config file $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'myPwd'; None of them worked. Can anyone suggest a workaround to access MySQL? Am not fussed about not being able to use the root account but would like to CRUD on the database using other username. Thanks in advance.

• Cannot access MOSS site from within MOSS server

  I am trying to access my MOSS site through the browser on the web server itself. I am using the same URL that is used for external access to the site. When I hit it from outside the server, I can see most of the site, which has anonymous access, and can use a domain account to get into secure areas. When I hit it from within the server, I get prompted for a password, but no matter what I enter it seems to reject it and just presents another password dialog. Has anyone seen anything like this?

• xen 4.1 host priodically dropping network packets of domU

  I have xen 4.1 Host running on a ubuntu 12.04 LTS Server with ip 153.x.x.54. I have setup 2 VMs on it, namely, "dev.mydomain.com" and "web.mydomain.com" with ips 195.X.X.2 and 195.x.x.3 respectively. For network the VMs connect through xendbr0 (xen-bridge), and can accces the network properly. I can also login to the VMs with ssh with no issue. However when I ping any of the VMs, there is a high amount of periodic packet drop. If I the ping the xen host (dom0) there is no packet drop. Following is a output of "tcpdump | grep ICMP" on dOM0 while I was pinging one of the domU tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on eth0, link-type • Access JavaScript variables with Selenium IDE

  I'm wondering if it's possible to access page JavaScript variables with Selenium. I have an application that's using a variable attached to the window object. It has a global scope and I can access it either with window._myvar, window['_myvar'], _myvar, this['_myvar'], this._myvar depending on the context. So I tried to get Selenium to echo it. As far as I understand, in Selenium IDE the context in which everything runs is selenium. I tried doing this.browserbot.getCurrentWindow()._myvar, this.browserbot.getCurrentWindow()[_myvar] to no avail. I get bumped with the following error Unexpected Exception: message -> eval(match[1]) is undefined. Anyone managed to access their page's JavaScript?

• Recovering Broken Connections In A Peer to Peer Network

  Hi All, I am implementing a peer to peer network using WCF NetPeerTcpBinding connections. I am using a central server which itself overrides the class CustomPeerResolverService. All this service does is register peers, and publish information about the peers to each other. On my server application I can visibly see which peers are currently connected on the GUI. My question is, each peer has a TCP connection to the server. When I unplug my network connection all connections to this server are severed. When the network comes back online those connections to the server are not re-established. What do I need to do to make sure they are re-established?   I have previously installed WAMP on my windows, and now I am trying to install Zend Server 5 CE 5.3.1 Win x86. During the installation of Zend Server, there is a step asking about: web server port : 80 zend server interface port : 10081 I kept to the default. After the installation, I tried to access http://localhost,and is able to see zend test page. But I am unable to access http://localhost:10081/ZendServer, it was stated as page not found. Is it a conflict of my WAMP and the Zend Server? I remembered stopping the apache for WAMP, before trying to access ZS. Could anyone please advise me how to fix it? Thank you.

  I have a WPF app that I'm deploying to a network path using ClickOnce deployment. After the app is deployed to a network location, I use the ClickOnce html page to launch the installation process. I am successfully able to download and install the app. However, my users are not able to download and install the app. When a user navigates to the ClickOnce html page and clicks to begin the installation process, the following error message is received: ERROR SUMMARY Below is a summary of the errors, details of these errors are listed later in the log. * Activation of http://software.mycompany.com/myapp/myapp.application resulted in exception. Following failure messages were detected: + Downloading file://dev/webs/software/myapp/myapp.application did not succeed. * [4/5/2010 1:56:59 PM] System.Deployment.Application.DeploymentDownloadException (Unknown subtype) - Downloading file://dev/Webs/software/myapp/myapp.application did not succeed. All signs point to this being a security issue. So, I've done the following: Ensured that "Everyone" had read access to the files that were being deployed as part of my project Ensured that "Everyone" had read access to the network location where the app was deployed (//dev/webs/software/myapp) Ensured that "Everyone" had read access to the IIS path where the ClickOnce html page is located In each of these cases, I've made no progress in getting the app to successfully deploy via ClickOnce. Again, the odd thing is that I am able to successfully walk through the process of downloading and installing the app. It's my users, though, that need the ability to download and install the app. I've looked extensively on the web for answers, but there hasn't been much. But in the lifetime of .NET I have to admit I've never actually had a situation where CAS has actually blocked something to my benefit. I have, however, had many times where something as simple as sharing a quick .NET application across a mapped drive becomes an enterprise code access nightmare. Having to break out caspol.exe to create trusted path rules and having no clear way of knowing why something failed makes it seem like CAS adds way more frustration to the development and deployment process than it offers in security. I'd like to hear either some situations where CAS has actually helped more than hurt, or if there are other people out there frustrated with its current implementation and defaults.

  I'd like to print PDF file(s) on windows' network printer via GhostScript. (I dont want to use Adobe Reader) I've read gswin32c.exe which can do the job. I experimented with many commands and coudn't find the way how to force gs to print PDF on my (windows default) network drive. I don't need point exact network printer- default can be used. But if there is no such option I'm happy to pass printer name as well. (I've tried with param -SDevice="\server_IP\printer_name" but this didnt work as well...) • Why are access modifiers on web service proxy methods important

  I'm creating interface to an external web service with C# client generated from WSDL. And in this client class I have methods with signature like: public ResponseType InvokeMethod(RequestType request). I want to change its access modifier to protected, but then web service responds with "web service method name is not valid" exception. Do You know why is that so? I understand that maintaining method name can be important for some reasons, but why can't I change this access modifier? Shouldn't it be a matter of my code what access I want to give to this method? Thanks for all the answers in advance.

I can start up a rails server and access it just fine using the text-based browser elinks running in that jail shell using both internal and public IP's. • Broadcast-style Bluetooth using Sockets on the iPhone?

  Is there any way to open a broadcast bluetooth socket, take a listen and send replies? I want a proper peer to peer system where I broadcast and listen for broadcasts in an area. That way, variable clients can mingle. Is this possible? My theory is this: If GameKit can sit around wasting 25 seconds of the users time whilst having access to a broadcast socket, can't I? Or, must I be in kernel mode for such access? I'm not really sure where the proper bluetooth headers are as well. Thanks for reading!

• Cant access log files in production.

  I was trying to run my application and check for some output on the production.log. However Rails throws this error. Apache log Rails Error: Unable to access log file. Please ensure that /var/www/somefolder/someapp/log/production.log exists and is chmod 0666. The log level has been raised to WARN and the output directed to STDERR until the problem is fixed. I have performed the necessary chmod 666 production.log to make it work but I realized that the file is under root access. So my file permissions are -rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 20845 2010-03-18 01:18 production.log Im not sure how to allow Rails to access this file. Im fairly new to managing linux production env so I request you to excuse my ignorance.

• My HttpHandler doesn't want to create directory on a network

  I use this simple line of code inside my HttpHandler: Directory.CreateDirectory(@"\\srv-001\dev\folderToCreate\"); I receive an UnauthoridezAccessException telling me that the access to the path is denied. From here, I create a little Dos application in C# doing the same thing and I was able to create the folder. So, I thought that it might be that IIS is running on a different user than myself. I went to IIS and changed the Application pool to a Custom user, myself. But, unfortunately, I got the same exception. I have try to create a Share folder on my computer and I can create directory. Also, when debugging I can see that System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal.Identity have its AuthenticationType to "", IsAuthenticated to false and name to "". So, with all those tests I can conclude that the HttpHandler that receive the file cannot create a directory because of some security access. How can I grand access to my HttpHandler to be able to create a directory (and files) to a network folder?

Meanwhile, we could simply use the repository pattern where the business logic layer consumes the data access layer locally through an interface, and at any point in time, we can switch things out for it to hit a service instead (if necessary). The question is: When is it a good time to wrap the data access layer in a service facade and when isn't it? Right now, it seems like the main advantage is that other applications can consume the service, but if they are internal applications written in .NET then they can just consume the .NET assembly instead. Are there other advantages of having the DAL be wrapped in a service that I am unaware of?

• Detecting Connection Speed / Bandwidth in .net/WCF

  I'm writing both client and server code using WCF, where I need to know the "perceived" bandwidth of traffic between the client and server. I could use ping statistics to gather this information separately, but I wonder if there is a way to configure the channel stack in WCF so that the same statistics can be gathered simultaneously while performing my web service invocations. This would be particularly useful in cases where ICMP is disabled (e.g. ping won't work). In short, while making my regular business-related web service calls (REST calls to be precise), is there a way to collect connection speed data implicitly? Certainly I could time the web service round trip, compared to the size of data used in the round-trip, to give me an idea of throughput - but I won't know how much of that perceived bandwidth was network related, or simply due to server-processing latency. I could perhaps solve that by having the server send back a time delta, representing server latency, so that the client can compute the actual network traffic time. If a more sophisticated approach is not available, that might be my answer...

  In some way I have managed to get this error when I try to access into MySQL via the command line: [root@localhost ~]# mysql -u root -p Enter password: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) I have tried resetting the password without any luck using this HowTo. I have uninstalled mysql completley and reinstalled but I still get asked for a password. I have no idea why this is the case! Can someone please help me get a default install of MySQL. EDIT To all those that would like to save themselves a few hours of "blood coughing" - when you uninstall MySQl completely delete everything that is left behind.   So I know that there is a very similar question to this all over the web as well as stack overflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2539961/error-access-denied-for-user-mysql-server but my question I think is different. So I have set up a linked server and it works...I have the correct permissions set up for my IP's that I am using. However the problem arises when our user "webuser@correctIP" tries to access it. Therefore, any user using window authentication is allowed to access it and works great...but any that are not using windows authentication are blocked. However, I have tried all the common solutions such as setting up a strict password, changing security settings in Microsoft SQL Server etc. Nothing is working. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. FYI: I am using this from Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - mysql (through myphpadmin)
