  • Is there a way to prevent an ASP.Net webapp from clearing out page variables on VB side?

    - by Chapso
I have a webapp in ASP.Net with a VB codebehind. I need a List variable I have declared to persist as long as the person is on the page, but currently any time a control posts back to the code, everything is cleared out. I am completely new to ASP.net, so I have no idea if this is even possible. Can it be done with a Session variable? Those seem to me to be limited to base types, but I could be wrong.

  • JComobox is not showing in the JDialog

    - by Pujan Srivastava
    I have 2 classes. when I put bold 3 lines in the method addCourses() the dialog does not show combobox in the Panel but when I remove from addCourses and put those bold lines in the constructor, JComboBox are shown in the Panel. But data will not show because data items updates to ComboBox will happen after Constructor is created. How can I solve this problem. this.mainPanel.add(courseCombo, BorderLayout.NORTH); this.mainPanel.add(sessionCombo, BorderLayout.CENTER); this.mainPanel.add(courseButton, BorderLayout.SOUTH); public class Updator { CourseListFrame clf = new CourseListFrame(); for(...){ clf.addContentsToBox(displayName, className); } clf.addCourses(); } and second class is public class CourseListFrame extends JDialog implements ActionListener { public JPanel mainPanel = new JPanel(new BorderLayout(2, 2)); public JButton courseButton = new JButton(("Submit")); public JComboBox courseCombo; public JComboBox sessionCombo; public Multimap<String, String> map; // = HashMultimap.create(); public static CourseListFrame courseListDialog; public CourseListFrame() { super(this.getMainFrame()); this.getContentPane().add(mainPanel); map = HashMultimap.create(); courseCombo = new JComboBox(); courseCombo.addItem("Select Courses"); courseCombo.addActionListener(this); sessionCombo = new JComboBox(); } public void addContentsToBox(String course, String session) { map.put(course, session); courseCombo.addItem(course); } public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { JComboBox cb = (JComboBox) e.getSource(); String str = (String) cb.getSelectedItem(); setSessionCombo(str); } public void setSessionCombo(String course) { if (map.containsKey(course)) { sessionCombo.removeAllItems(); Iterator it = map.get(course).iterator(); while (it.hasNext()) { sessionCombo.addItem(it.next()); } } } public void addCourses() { this.mainPanel.add(courseCombo, BorderLayout.NORTH); this.mainPanel.add(sessionCombo, BorderLayout.CENTER); this.mainPanel.add(courseButton, BorderLayout.SOUTH); } public static void showCourseListDialog() { if (courseListDialog == null) { courseListDialog = new CourseListFrame(); } courseListDialog.pack(); courseListDialog.setVisible(true); courseListDialog.setSize(260, 180); } }

  • Database schema for simple stats project

    - by Bubnoff
Backdrop: I have a file hierarchy of cvs files for multiple locations named by dates they cover ...by month specifically. Each cvs file in the folder is named after the location. eg', folder name: 2010-feb contains: location1.csv location2.csv Each CSV file holds records like this: 2010-06-28, 20:30:00 , 0 2010-06-29, 08:30:00 , 0 2010-06-29, 09:30:00 , 0 2010-06-29, 10:30:00 , 0 2010-06-29, 11:30:00 , 0 meaning of record columns ( column names ): Date, time, # of sessions I have a perl script that pulls the data from this mess and originally I was going to store it as json files, but am thinking a database might be more appropriate long term ...comparing year to year trends ...fun stuff like that. Pt 2 - My question/problem: So I now have a REST service that coughs up json with a test database. My question is [ I suck at db design ], how best to design a database backend for this? I am thinking the following tables would suffice and keep it simple: Location: (PK)location_code, name session: (PK)id, (FK)location_code, month, hour, num_sessions I need to be able to average sessions (plus min and max) for each hour across days of week in addition to days of week in a given month or months. I've been using perl hashes to do this and am trying to decide how best to implement this with a database. Do you think stored procedures should be used? As to the database, depending on info gathered here, it will be postgresql or sqlite. If there is no compelling reason for postgresql I'll stick with sqlite. How and where should I compare the data to hours of operation. I am storing the hours of operation in a yaml file. I currently 'match' the hour in the data to a hash from the yaml to do this. Would a database open simpler methods? I am thinking I would do this comparison as I do now then insert the data. Can be recalled with: SELECT hour, num_sessions FROM session WHERE location_code=LOC1 Since only hours of operation are present, I do not need to worry about it. Should I calculate all results as I do now then store as a stats table for different 'reports'? This, rather than processing on demand? How would this look? Anyway ...I ramble. Thanks for reading! • NHibernate unable to create SessionFactory

    - by Tyler
I'm having a bit of trouble setting up NHibernate, and I'm not too sure what the problem is exactly. I'm attempting to save a domain object to the database (Oracle 10g XE). However, I'm getting a TypeInitializationException while trying to create the ISessionFactory. Here is what my hibernate.cfg.xml looks like: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <hibernate-configuration xmlns="urn:nhibernate-configuration-2.2" > <session-factory name="MyProject.DataAccess"> <property name="connection.driver_class">NHibernate.Driver.OracleClientDriver</property> <property name="connection.connection_string"> User ID=myid;Password=mypassword;Data Source=localhost </property> <property name="show_sql">true</property> <property name="dialect">NHibernate.Dialect.OracleDialect</property> <property name="proxyfactory.factory_class">NHibernate.ByteCode.LinFu.ProxyFactoryFactory, NHibernate.ByteCode.LinFu</property> <mapping resource="MyProject/Domain/User.hbm.xml"/> </session-factory> </hibernate-configuration> I created a DAO which I will use to persist domain objects to the database. The DAO uses a HibernateUtil class that creates the SessionFactory. Both classes are in the DataAccess namespace along with the Hibernate configuration. This is where the exception is occuring. Here's that class: public class HibernateUtil { private static ISessionFactory SessionFactory = BuildSessionFactory(); private static ISessionFactory BuildSessionFactory() { try { // This seems to be where the problem occurs return new Configuration().Configure().BuildSessionFactory(); } catch (TypeInitializationException ex) { Console.WriteLine("Initial SessionFactory creation failed." + ex); throw new Exception("Unable to create SessionFactory."); } } public static ISessionFactory GetSessionFactory() { return SessionFactory; } } The DataAccess namespace references the NHibernate DLLs. This is virtually the same setup I've used with Hibernate in Java, so I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong here. Any ideas? Edit The innermost exception is the following: "Could not find file 'C:\Users\Tyler\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\MyProject\MyProject\ConsoleApplication\bin\Debug\hibernate.cfg.xml'." ConsoleApplication contains the entry point where I've created a User object and am trying to persist it with my DAO. Why is it looking for the configuration file there? The actual persisting takes place in the DAO, which is in DataAccess. Also, when I add the configuration file to ConsoleApplication, it still does not find it.

  • HQL 'parsename' equivalent

    - by jaume
I've discovered PARSENAME function as a good choice to order IP address stored in Database. Here there is an example. My issue is I'm using Hibernate with named queries in a xml mapping file and I am trying to avoid the use of session.createSQLQuery(..) function. I'm wondering if exists any PARSENAME equivalent function for HQL queries. I'm searching for it and cannot find anything. Many thanks.

  • How to you password protect a page with Wicket?

    - by Kane
I want to password protect a webpage in Wicket so the user may only access it if he/she has logged in. I'd also like the page to show the login page, and then after logging in the original page the user was trying to get to. How is this done with wicket? I've already created a login page and extended the session class.

  • NHibernate - ISession

    - by Guilherme Cardoso
Hi About the declaration of ISession. Should we close the Session everytime we use it, or should we keep it open? I'm asking this because in manual of NHibernate (nhforge.org) they recommend us to declare it once in Application_Start for example, but i don't know if we should close it everytime we use. Thanks

  • Queue management in Rails

    - by Cyborgo
Hi, I am planning to have something like this for a website that is on Ruby on Rails. User comes and enters a bunch of names in a text field, and a queue gets created from all the names. From there the website keeps asking more details for each one from the queue until the queue finishes. Is there any queue management gem available in Ruby or I have to just create an array and keep incrementing the index in session variable to emulate a queue behaviour?

  • What is the fastest findByName query with hibernate?

    - by Karussell
I am sure I can improve the performance of the following findByName query of hibernate: public List<User> findByName(String name) { session.createCriteria(User.class).add(Restrictions.eq("name", name)).list(); } In which way should I improve it or even more important: in which ways should I improve it first? I will need the full object with all the collections (layz or not) and deps of this class.

  • How to get number of delete using NHibernate IStatistics

    - by epitka
I am trying to get the number of delete statements issued during the session, so I enabled statistics generation and I got a reference to it through SessionFactory.Statistics. But I don't see a way to get the global number of deletes. I can get the statistics for the entity, but I have one many-to-many mapped relationship that does not materialize in an entity, everything is done through a table that is not mapped to an entity. Is there a way to get this number?
