  • Minifying Javascript on Visual Studio 2010 on release mode

    I have a ASP.NET MVC 2 project on Visual Studio 2010. I want to be able to use my plain javascript files in debug mode so I can understand what's going on when debugging, but I want to used a minified/compressed version when using release mode. I was planning to create some extenders to include the js files in each page, something like: <%: Html.IncludeJS("/Content/foo.js") % In that extender method I would determine whether I am on debug or release mode and pick the appropiate JS file. The disadvantage here is that I would end up manually compressing/minifying the JS every time I change something. Is there an automated way to compress/minify and include the JS file when compiling in release mode?

  • What is this dm-0 device?

    While poking around trying to figure out why a Linux - Linux file transfer is running slower than I think it should, I stumbled across something I'm not familiar with. /dev/dm-0 seems to be my bottleneck, but I have no idea what it is. On my destination server, the iostat command shows a device at the bottom, /dev/dm-0, as being 100% utilized. This server has 6 disks in a mdadm raid5 set, with LVM running on top of it. Each of the underlying disks are sitting around 50% util. The transfer is writing to a logical volume located on this raidset. What is this /dev/dm-0 thing? Once I know what it is, maybe I can find how to increase its speed, or at least understand why its the speed that it is.

  • How to run infinitely script in background on Linux?

    I have a PHP script with infinite loop. I need this script running forever. So, I run php /path/to/script.php > /dev/null & And it works in background in my current user's security context. But when I close terminal window (log off), of course, CentOS Linux kills my program. I see two guesses: run from a different user in background or make a daemon. I need help in each situation.   • Touch Screen Ubuntu 10.04LTS

    I'm trying to get a touch screen working with Ubuntu 10.04LTS (64bit) -it is a serial touchsceen, connected at /dev/ttyS0 ,i know that works because I get garbage in the terminal when I enable it. -before the screen used a 3m driver (I believe) in XP. My knowledge of Linux is passive so I generally pick up something when I need it. To get this working I came accross a lot of tutorials (a lot outdated a bit), I'm still at a loss to get this work. I'm not sure where to put linux drivers (/usr/ or /dev/?) most tutorials kind of skip over that part. I have tried editing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf unsuccessfully. I'm not sure what the syntax for that is supposed to be. Thank You

  • Force Quirks mode with Doctype

    I have a page which needs to be rendered in Quirks mode for the page to be loaded properly. The problem is that the page uses valid XHTML and thus has a doctype. This forces the page to render in Standards mode in all browsers. Is there any workaround/hack that can force Quirks mode eventhough I have a doctype?

  • How to stop emacs from replacing underbar with <- in ess-mode

In my buffer, when ever I type '_' the character is replaced with "<-" which is very frustrating. Is there a emacs lisp statement to turn off this behavior?     The problem: the computers [Xbox 360 and a Kubuntu 12.04.1 laptop] can't access Internet through a recently-installed desktopless Debian 6 laptop (which is wirelessly connected to a WLAN station) but addresses are successfully given by dnsmasq. The attempts: 1.1) /etc/dnsmaq.conf conffed according to http://wiki.debian.org/HowTo/dnsmasq: add lines interface=eth0 dhcp-range=192.168.0.50,192.168.0.150,255.255.255.0,12h 1.2) Follow http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/rhel-fedora-linux-internet-connection-sharing-howto/ and use their script to setup iptables. 2) Follow the Ubuntu Internet Gateway Method (iptables) at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Internet/ConnectionSharing recommended and which worked at Share internet in Linux. The Debian laptop was rebooted many times and between each attempt, with and without the script auto-executing via /etc/rc.local. While adding the iptables-restore command to that file I disabled the script.

  • tabBarController and navigationControllers in landscape mode, episode II

    I have a UITabBarController, and each tab handles a different UIViewController that pushes on the stack new controllers as needed. In two of these tabs I need, when a specific controller is reached, the ability to rotate the iPhone and visualize a view in landscape mode. After struggling a lot I have found that it is mandatory subclassing UITabBarController to override shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation. However, if i simply return YES in the implementation, the following undesirable side effect arises: every controller in every tab is automatically put in landscape mode when rotating the iPhone. Even overriding shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation in each controller to return NO does not work: when the iPhone is rotated, the controller is put in landscape mode. I implemented shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation as follows in the subclassed UITabBarController: (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { if([self selectedIndex] == 0 || [self selectedIndex] == 3) return YES; return NO; } So that only the two tabs I am interested in actually get support for landscape mode. Is there a way to support landscape mode for a specific controller on the stack of a particular tab? I tried, without success, something like (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { if([self selectedIndex] == 0 || [self selectedIndex] == 3) { if ([[self selectedViewController] isKindOfClass: [landscapeModeViewController class]]) return YES; } return NO; } Also, I tried using the delegate method didSelectViewController, without success.     Not being a network expert, I spent some time configuring my network, until I found my mistake: On my HP ProCurve Switch 1810G, I thought that "Admin mode" means whether the administrative interface can be accessed from this port. Well, it means whether the port is enabled or not. Extract from the help function: Admin Mode - Select to enable the port-control administration state. Click to enable and have the port participate in the network.(Default : Enabled ) Well, of course I didn't read the help, because I didn't doubt it's for the adminsitrative interface and suspected an error somewhere else. Anyway, I am wondering if that is a commonly used term for enabling/disabling ports or if HP just wanted to make my life harder? I can't understand why this option isn't just called "Enable port"!?   • Dualbooting Win7 and Gentoo, error

    Hello I'm trying to setup a dualboot with Gentoo Linux and Windows 7. Heres my partitions: /dev/sda1 /boot partition, ext2 /dev/sda2 win7 partition, ntfs /dev/sda3 swap partition, linux swap /dev/sda4 root partition, btrfs Using Grub, I can boot into Gentoo, but when I'm choosing to boot Windows 7, nothing happens. It just writes the Grub options for that choice, and then it hangs. grub.conf: default 0 timeout 30 title Gentoo root (hd0,0) kernel /boot/kernel-x86_64-2.6.31 root=/dev/sda4 title Windows rootnoverify (hd0,1) makeactive chainloader +1 Any ideas? Help will be much appreciated!

  • Better to develop Ruby project on server or buy a faster desktop computer? B/c laptop too slow.

    I have a Linux laptop (Vostro V13) running a Celeron M chip. This is a fine laptop, but running unit tests especially for Rails applications is slow. I want a faster development environment but I don't want to spend too much money. So the choice I have is between $390 for a Linux desktop machine with a Pentium Dual Core Processor E5400 and just paying between $30 and $40 a month to Linode and trying to do development remotely on that server. Can anyone with experience developing server applications using both methods offer any advice?

    We have two computer in office and two people. My computer is much more faster than another computer. Is it possible my colleague connect to my computer remotely and work by my computer? Using "Remote Desktop" in Windows only one user can log into computer. So when he connect remotely, my user logged off. Is there a tool which can help in this case? I already knew VNC (RealVNC) But it's not helping because when a user connect to my computer, he see exactly my desktop, not his own user desktop.

    The scenario is like this. Bob has a computer. It crashed. Now he only has the hdd. The hdd is in ext3 format. He go to his office and told the sys admin John to mount this hdd and put the mount point in his home directory. He could access his old extra and windows. Specially the Documents and Settings in windows was helpful for him. But he found a problem. He is a web developer and all his websites are in linux/home/bob/public_html directory. When he tried to access that public_html directory he got permission_denied. He executed ls -lh he saw this. drwxr-xr-x 2 john john 4.0K Nov 9 2011 Desktop drwxr-xr-x 3 john john 4.0K Aug 12 2011 Documents drwxr-xr-x 3 john john 4.0K Aug 21 2011 public_html He contacted John thinking he might be mistakenly did this. But John couldn't find a way why this happend? Then one thing came into his mind file system hardly store username. They store uids. So he executed ls -ln drwxr-xr-x 2 1000 1000 4096 Nov 9 2011 Desktop drwxr-xr-x 3 1000 1000 4096 Aug 12 2011 Documents drwxr-xr-x 3 1000 1000 4096 Aug 21 2011 public_html John thinks 1000 is the first uid on a linux system. As he is the admin of the current system. He created his account first. so Johns uid was 1000. Bob also setup his private system and crated his account first. So Bobs uid was 1000 too. So thats an expected behavior. But problem remains. How can Bob access those websites in public_html?

  • 64bit server running in 32bit mode using incorrect locale

    I have a 64bit server that we are running an application on in 32bit mode. For whatever reason the locale of the 32bit process is coming through as en-US when the server is set to en-GB. I am guessing that the reason for this is there is that the 64bit and WOW64 are not sharring the locale settings. So my question is how do you set the locale for a 32bit process? This is Windows 2003. The application is an asp.net app running under IIS in 32bit mode. This setup is definitely not my choice.

  • emacs indentation in asm mode

    I am looking for the equivalent of c-indent-level and ruby-indent-level, for asm-mode. That is, I want to force the indentation to 4 spaces, and I want them to be replaced with blanks. What I've seen tells me it does not exist for asm-mode. Could someone please tell me this is wrong? I tried this also: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/69934/set-4-space-indent-in-emacs-in-text-mode , to no av. I have tried: (setq tab-width 4) (setq indent-line-function 'insert-tab) (setq asm-indent-level 4) This works however: (custom-set-variables '(tab-stop-list (quote (4 8 12 16 20 24 28 32 36 40 44 48 52 56 60 64 68 72 76 80 84 88 92 96 100 104 108 112 116 120)))) But I wonder if there is a way to define that for asm-mode only. What if I wanted to keep the default tab behaviour for other modes?

  • Aircrack-ng, is it illegal?

    I just found out about this linux-based network toolset called aircrack-ng, and its pretty interesting, and I'm learning how to use it. But it just occured to me, that like a lot of linux programs, they're developed in foreign countries, with different laws. I did do a google search, and the only thing in regards to what i am asking that pops up is a question on another site. So, my question is, is it illegal in America, specifically Ohio, to use this program? I mean i know it has a legitimate purpose, but so does hemp. Also, sorry if this is the wrong place for this question, but I'm not exactly sure where it should go.
