  • Should I use events in this case?

    I'm creating a video player, like a custom YouTube player. All of the GUI elements (progress bar, video player, play button, ...) are different classes, but I obviously need them to communicate. When the progress bar is clicked, or the slider is moved, it needs to send a "seek(x)" command to the video player. Similarly, the video player needs to update the progressbar every frame. Currently I'm doing this by having almost all elements have a link to each other. So when I create the progress bar, I'm telling it where the video player is. But after a while this becomes more and more complicated, and I'm wondering if events would be a better way to do this. Or a main controller class that has all the connections. What should I do?

  • a missing variable in a switch statement ?!!

    hi folks, i have a strange issue. a variable seems to be missing during a pass through a case statement i have a function like so function checklink($var0, $var1, $var2) { switch($var0) { case "case1": print $var2; //code uses $var2 successfully case "case2": print $var2; //variable has disappeared! } } essentially what i am doing is constructing a string from the last variable based on the first. if i run the code in which the first case is true, i get the expected results, but when i run the second case, my variable seems to have vanished. these first two case statements are syntactically the same and the variable is gathered from the $_GET array (hard coded into hyperlink). any light on this issue? if more explanation is needed let me know, its late and my brain is getting mushy. thanks my friends.

    I have aggregate functions foo(), foobar(), fredstats(), barneystats() I want to create a domain specific query language (DSQL) above my DB, to facilitate using a domain language to query the DB. The 'language' comprises of algebraic expressions (or more specifically SQL like criteria) which I use to generate (ANSI) SQL statements which are sent to the db engine.     Currently debugging, and found an if-statement which for no (I thought...) reason gave me an NPE, obviously for a reason. Which seemed to be that the statement turned out to be if(false && (null != null || null != Color)). if(destination != null && (destination.getPiece() != null || destination.getPiece().getColour() != pieceColour)) - the if-statement Both destination can be null and piece can be. The getColour() method returns an attribute of type Color from piece, which must be null if the piece is null. The piece at destination has a different pieceColour attribute then the one in the if-statement. Specifically, how do I re-arrange (destination.getPiece() != null) ?

  • Alter Table Filestream runs even if IF statement is false

    I am writing a script to update a database to add Filestream capability. The script needs to be able to be run multiple times without erroring. This is what I currently have IF ((select count(*) from sys.columns a inner join sys.objects b on a.object_id = b.object_id inner join sys.default_constraints c on c.parent_object_id = a.object_id where a.name = 'evidence_data' and b.name='evidence' and c.name='DF__evidence_evidence_data') = 0) begin ALTER TABLE evidence SET ( FILESTREAM_ON = AnalysisFSGroup ) ALTER TABLE evidence ALTER COLUMN id ADD ROWGUIDCOL; end GO The first time I run this against the database it works fine. The second time when the if statement should be false it throws an error saying "Cannot add FILESTREAM filegroup or partition scheme since table 'evidence' has a FILESTREAM filegroup or partition scheme already." If I put a simple select into the if statement and take out the alter table filestream on line it functions correctly and does not perform the if statement. So esentially it is always running the alter table filestream on statement even if the if statement is false. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

I understand why, but I don't know how to fix it. I want the program to repeat itself each time even after the case statements. Would I just say: main(argc, argv); before every break statement?
