  • Authorize.net CIM or using the module's storage

    this site is intended to allow users to sign up and pay for a service, they will be able to pay using Paypal and Authorize.net since I am using two different payment gateways, it makes me wonder where I want to keep the user information. Authorize.net offers CIM, but some users will pay with paypal therefore Authorize.net won't have all user's information Would the best solution then be to not use CIM and store everything within my member database module? for the record I am using OSE for Joomla for my subscriber service

  • Set default owner/user

    I'm a web developer, and so have set-up an old machine in the office as an Ubuntu Server, for the purposes of testing websites. I've set-up LAMP and have created a /var/www folder, from which all my local sites are served. The issue is that of user permissions, i.e. any files that I copy into that folder (from my Windows machine via the network) automatically take on me (daniel) as their owner. The problem is that I want www-data to become the owner. I did some research and saw that it should be possible to use setuid (and setgid) to automatically set www-data as the owner of all files put into /var/www automatically, so far I've not had any luck making it work. Can someone help please? Thank you UPDATE: Would this do what I want it to do? Default file permissions for php user www-data UPDATE 2: I've kinda fixed my issue by changing my samba settings. Using Webmin, I was able to go in and change the default settings (as seen here: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/521/captureon.png/)

  • Is it legal to ask photo ID and credit card copy in the U.S

    I regularly order from online shops around the world and I have not see any case where the company asks for photo ID or credit card copy. Yesterday I make an order from linode.com and my order is on hold because of their "fraud check system". Is it common to ask those info in U.S. where I have never asked such info in here (Istanbul, Turkey). And I already asked what is their motive and legal stand and the reason my order is hold by their fraud system. And I also added whether is because I live in Istanbul, Turkey. Their answer was as following: "We would not be able to disclose specific information related to our fraud system." And I'm asked repeatedly whether I want to cancel my order or not. I dont questioning reputation of linode.com if I think so, I did not make an order. I think asking for photo ID is neither legal nor provide any security.

  • Looking for a modern payment processor which accepts adult sites

    I love how easy authorize.net is to use, but they don't accept adult sites. I am lanching an adult site soon but I can't find any good credit card processors I can use. Most sites use CCbill or Epoch but they are both terrible since the customer is redirected to their external site which also has an ancient 1990's look. It's not like authorize.net's API that you can query and get the result back as to whether the payment went through or not. This makes authorize.net blend seamlessly with the product. But since adult sites are against their TOS and also paypals, what is a good alternative? I am looking for one that won't redirect the user from my site, is big enough to be reliable and trustworthy and has fairly low rates. Any help is appreciated!

  • What is the "default" software license?

    If I release some code and binaries, but I don't include any license at all with it, what are the legal terms that apply by default (in the US, where I am). I know that I automatically have copyright without doing anything, but what restrictions are there on it? If I upload my code to github and announce it as a free download / contribute at will, then are people allowed to modify and close source my work? I haven't said that they cannot, as a GPL would, but I don't feel that it would by default be acceptable to steal my work either. So what can and cannot people do with code that is freely available, but has absolutely no licensing terms attached? By the way, I know that it would be a good idea for me to pick a license and apply it to my code soon, but I'm still curious about this. Edit Thanks! So it looks like the consensus is that it starts out very restricted, and then my actions imply any further rights. If I just put software on my website with no security, it would be an infringement to download it. If I post a link to that download on a forum, then that would implicitly give permission to use it for free, but not distribute it or its derivatives (but you can modify it for your own use). If I put it on GitHub, then it is conveyed as FOSS. Again, this is probably not codified exactly in law but may be enough to be defensible in court. It's still a good idea to post a complete license to be safe.

  • how to properly Install chromium from zip and make it the default browser

    Since the Chromium PPA is no longer maintained, for those of us preferring to use chromium over chrome, we have two options: Build and Install from Source Download either 'beta' or daily builds (in a zip file) Unfortunately for me, option 1 is overly complicated. I know how to compile most any other applications in Ubuntu but I've never been able to get chromium to build correctly. I am currently using option 2. In Chromium I have the Chromium Updater installed (http://goo.gl/ffAMy). This gives me quick access to the most recent 64bit versions. Once downloaded, I install to /home/myuser/opt/chrome-linux. From this directory I can run the chrome binary. It works perfectly except for the fact that I cannot get it to act as my default browser. I've tried, as root, installing the binary in /opt/chrome-linux/ with a symbolic link to the 'chrome' binary in /usr/bin. Unfortunately, this doesn't work as a non root user. So my question is - How do I properly install a downloaded chromium zip build so tht it's listed as an option for the default browser?

  • Changing the Default Windows Phone 7 Deployment Target In Visual Studio 2010

    After you download and install the January 2011 Windows Phone update, you will notice one annoying thing. The default deployment target for Windows Phone Projects in Visual Studio changes to Windows Phone 7 Device. Before the update, it defaulted to the Emulator. I found this extremely annoying as I’m more than likely going to test with the emulator before putting it on my actual device. Now to make things fair, Microsoft told you they were going to switch the default and even provided a solution, but you will have to check a tiny paragraph in the release notes. The good news is that its very easy to do: Simply navigate out to : %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Phone Tools\CoreCon See the folder named, “10.0”? Go ahead and delete it. Now, the folder will be completely empty and if you fire up Visual Studio 2010 you will see we are now defaulting to the Emulator again. In my opinion, this should have been left at Emulator.     Are there any mobile-friendly Credit Card billing solutions for mobile sites similar to Bango? The advantages of Bango I have seen compared to regular Credit Card solutions that make it considerably "mobile-friendly" are: 1) It does not require the user to enter their full name and billing address to make a payment. The user is only required to enter their Credit Card number, expiration date, and CVC code (if they are in the U.S., they will also have to enter their Zip Code). That is significantly less input than is normally required for Credit Card payments, which is a big plus on small mobile key pads. After a user makes an initial Credit Card payment, their details are stored by Bango, and the next time the user needs to make a payment with the same Credit Card, they just have to click a single link and it processes the payment on their stored Credit Card. Needless to say, this is very convenient for mobile users as it is analogous to Direct Carrier Billing as far as the user is concerned since they won't need to input any details. The downside with Bango is that their fees are higher than others, all payments must be processed via their site and branding, there is a high minimum ($1.99) and a low maximum ($30) on how much you can charge users, and you need to pay a monthly fee on top of the high transaction costs. It is due to the downsides mentioned above that I am looking for an alternative solution that also does the advantages 1) and 2) above. Is there anything like that? I looked at JunglePay and they do neither 1) nor 2).

  • Ubuntu 12.04 - default Radeon driver does not work at all

    I've recently upgraded to 12.04 LTS and I have an ATI Radeon HD5670. I've heard that the open source 'Radeon' driver is used by default. However, it wasn't showing anything for me. What I did was I added the 'nomodeset' option to boot up and install fglrx. But it didn't work well for me as it introduced a lot of problems (freezes/glitches). So I removed/purged fglrx and am planning to use the open source drivers instead. So my question is this: Why is my default Radeon driver not working? Is anyone having a similar issue? I've also tried using the ubuntu-x-swat driver by running the ff commands: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates sudo apt-get update But the result was the same as the Radeon driver. Nothing shows up on system boot. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!     *** Thanks to Steve St. Jean for asking this question and Shubhra Maji for answering this question on the ALM champs list *** 01 – Introduction The default behaviour of coded UI tests running in an Internet Explorer browser has changed between MTM 2010 and MTM 2012. When running a Coded UI test recorded in MTM 2012 or VS 2012 at the end of the test execution the instance of the browser is closed by default. 02 – Description Let’s take an example. As you can see the CloseDinnerNowWeb() method is commented out.  In VS 2010, upon running this test the browser would be left open after the test execution completes. In VS 2012 RTM the behaviour has changed. At the end of the test run, the IE window is closed even though there is no command from the test to do so. In the example below when the test runs, it opens 2 IE windows to the website. When the test run completes both the windows are closed, even though there is no command in the test to close the window. 03 – How to change the CUIT behaviour not to close the IE window after test execution? This change to this functionality in VS 2012 is by design. It is however possible to rollback the behaviour to how it originally was in VS 2010 i.e. the IE window will not close after the test execution unless otherwise commanded by the test to do so.     My server has three default gateways, how can that be? Shouldn't there be one default gw?     Hi, How do I change the default screensaver in Mac OS X using shell. I am writing a script to customize computers that I need to distribute. In particular I would like them all to have the same default screensaver. How could I change this in a script? So far I have done the following: I have a com.apple.screensaver.default.plist file with the screensaver settings I want in it, and in the script I copy it to /Users/guest/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.screensaver.${UUID}.plist where UUID is the relevant value. I have modified /System/Library/Frameworks/Screensaver.framework/Versions/A/Resources/EngineDefaults.plist to have the screensaver I want as the default settings. But when I open Screensaver settings in System Preferences after running the script, the default screensaver is Flurry! What can I do to make this work? Thanks, ChilisWorld

  • Truecrypt or default Disk Utility on Mac?

    Windows by default doesn't come with a password protect folder option (other that Win7 ultimate), so I used to swear by Truecrypt which was great. But I've read in a couple of places that Mac OS X by default has a way of protecting folders using the Default Disk Utility. So my question is which is better, using TrueCrypt on the Mac or just sticking with the default Disk Utils app? Can somebody let me know the advantages of one over the other? A summary from the very helpful answers below: if you're looking for cross-platform usage Truecrypt is the obvious tool of choice if you're looking for convenience, and intend to stick only to the Mac platform, use the default Disk Utils app.

  • Resetting default Input Method in Mac OS 10.6

    I'm a Dvorak guy. I recently installed a new machine at the inlaws who are not Dvorak people. I stupidly selected Dvorak as my Input Method of choice while installing OS X. Now, all of the users I created default to Dvorak and need to go through the manual process of removing Dvorak as their Input Method of choice and instead choosing U.S. I have no idea how far reaching the implications might be. Could be that any time another user is added they will default to Dvorak. Right now, I'd like to set the default back to U.S. How can I do that? Behaviors I'm looking for include that when the Input Menu is not shown at the Login Screen, U.S. is the keyboard layout. Any future users created should default to U.S. with no Input Menu in the menu bar. Any users created already should have their default layout be U.S. Thanks in advance!

    I have installed the standalone Flash debug player to /usr/lib/flashplayerdebugger and I can now use it to test within Flash Builder (Eclipse), but I can't make an SWF open with it from Nautilus. If I right click and select Open With Other Application it is not in the list of programs, and I can't see how to add it. How can I make it the default application for SWF files opened in Nautilus?   • How to close lid without triggering standby one time only

    Related: How can I tell Ubuntu to do nothing when I close my laptop lid? I have my laptop set to activate standby when I close the lid. I want to keep this as the default for both battery and AC power. But occasionally I want to close the lid without triggering standby (eg. while just listening to audio). Is there someway I can tell Ubuntu, "I'm going to close the lid now. Don't stand by this time", without altering the defaults (because I almost always forget to change them back).

  • ubuntu 12.04 how do I select a custom program to open specific file type

    I want to set a filetype to be opened by a specific program other than ubuntu's default. I usually right click properties open with and select the application I need. This however does not work in this case. The application I want is not shown in the "open with" dialog and there apparently is no way I can browse to it or type in a custom command like I used to in 10.04. Is this a bug that I should file or a feature that can be worked around?

    I've been trying to find a solution on how to change the screen resolution on the login screen and other users. .xprofile will only affect my account. I've been searching for a few months but I got nothing. Please help. It would be easier if the "Default Resolution" was still there in the monitors settings. Plus, I'm afraid of editing the xorg.conf. Last time was ugly...   • How to pre-configure (configure defaults for new users) KDE?

    I'm trying to figure out how to configure KDE for new users. That is: setting up KDE and make these settings default for every user upon her first login. I know that there's /etc/skel but it's not working nicely because KDE writes user- and machine-specific stuff in its users configuration files and I want this to work for every user on every machine. Also modifying stuff in /usr/share seems wrong to me as well as stuff there could get overwritten by an update or - even worse - modifications there could make auto upgrade fail. So, is there a standard way of doing this? Thanks

    Hello, i am implementing the First Data Global Gateway API into a Java E-Commerce Web application. The problem that i have is that I get an error message SGS-020003: Invalid XML returned from the staging.linkpt.net server. By switching the optional entities off, I managed to locate the problematic entity. It is the Shipping entity. I have the following data inside it: <shipping> <zip>10105</zip> <phone>123456789</phone> <email>[email protected]</email> <name>DJBla</name> <state>NY</state> <address1>some city</address1> <address2>suite 6</address2> <city>New York</city> <country>US</country> </shipping> According to the First Data Global Gateway User Manual Version 1.1 everything is correct with my XML.
