  • Is there a way to click a link in Firefox and open a file in an existing VIM session?

    Hi there, I know it's possible to open links in an html page (let's say, if you're using Firefox) with TextMate if the link has this format: <a href="txmt://open?url=file:///home/.../index.html.haml">View</a> But is it possible to do a similar thing with VIM? Perhaps like so: <a href="vim://open?url=file:///home/.../index.html.haml">View</a> Ideally this would use an existing VIM session. Cheers, Bernie

  • How can I sync with an iPod Nano 6G?

    I'm having no luck at all with this iPod Nano. I've tried the following software: Banshee - The iPod shows up and files seem to be copied, but they don't show up on the iPod. Rhythmbox - Same as Banshee. Claims to sync but no files available on the iPod gPodder - At first it wouldn't even recognize the device even though I set the mount point and device type. After syncing one file to the iPod from iTunes on my mac it now behaves as Banshee and Rythmbox. gtkpod - Again: Copies the files but they are inacessible on the iPod. Hipo - Doesn't even recognize the iPod Amarok - What is this, I don't even... So to summarize: After some fiddling I can get most of these apps to recognize the iPod and copy files to it, but they are not accessible on the iPod which sort of defeats the whole purpose. Help me out here. My continued harmonic love life depends on it. (Yes, it's the girlfriends iPod and laptop)

  • Ubuntu One Windows Client 3.0.1 - Sync not connecting

    I've got sync working at home on Natty and I need to access files at work. I've just installed client 3.0.1 at work on Windows 7. It's finding my account and sees what devices are already set up for sync but it just repeatedly tries to sync (File sync starting...) and after a while fails (File Sync is disconnected.). This cycle loops endlessly. I'm suspicious that it's a problem with my proxy setup. My employer doesn't use a manual proxy configuration but instead uses an automatic configuration script at a specific http address. Does U1 recognize that kind of setup or is it only looking for a proxy server in the form of an address/port?

  • Is it me, or is it you? Does the sync work?

    I have been on this for several hours now, trying to get a simple second folder to sync with my (paid) account. I cannot tell you how many times I removed all devices, removed stored passwords, killed all processes of u1, logged out and back in online...and still, the tick in the file browser (Synchronize this folder) is loading and loading and loading. Also, I have logged out, rebooted countless times. And this is after me somehow managing to get the u1 preferences to finally "connect" again. I have also checked the status of your services, and none are close to what I am experiencing. And I have checked the suggested related questions above! So please, just confirm whether it is a problem on my side, or a problem on your side.

  • UbuntuOne: how to sync folders on different partitions (symlink?)

    I use Ubuntu One to synch my home/Documents folder among more computers. On a portable tablet I have set the Documents folder in a separate Fat32 partition named sda6, and I made it default documents folder with Ubuntu Tweaks. How do I synchronize it with my /Documents cloud ? I tried to link /sda/Documents in my home folder but it didn't succeed: UbuntuOne still tries to set an own Documents folder and doesn't let me sync the linked folder with the cloud.   • When tab groups are loaded, Firefox becomes unresponsible for minutes (Unresponsive script)

    I have several tab groups (~ 20) in Firefox. I can start the browser without any problems. However, as soon as I … click at the "Group tabs" icon in the toolbar, or right-click on a tab and hover over "Move to tab group", … Firefox becomes unresponsible/freezes for a rather long time (more than 2 minutes). It seems to load all tab groups (it doesn't load all the pages! I deactivated this in the settings). While this is happening, I get several "Unresponsive script" warnings, like: Script: chrome://global/content/bindings/tabbox.xml:0 (most of the time) Script: chrome://global/content/bindings/tabbox.xml:418 Script: chrome://browser/content/tabview.js:400 Script: chrome://browser/content/tabview.js:522 Script: resource://modules/sessionstore/SessionStore.jsm:3578 Script: resource:///components/PageThumbsProtocol.js:79 (rare) Script: resource://gre/modules/XPCOMUtils.jsm:323 (rare) (probably also other warnings, didn't record them yet, though) On all of these I click "Continue". After ~ 2-3 minutes and 3-5 warnings, I can use Firefox again. Now I can switch tab groups without any problems. Why is this happening? How can I prevent the long loading time? Is there maybe a about:config setting I could try? I started Firefox in Safe Mode (= without any add-ons): the problem still exists.

  • How to fix Firefox Blue Screen of Death?

    I am running Windows XP SP3 and Firefox v3.6.2 and have an issue with Firefox causing the Blue Screen of Death. If I run in Windows safe mode, it does not occur, but running normally, it seems my firefox profile is going bad and results in certain web pages causing the BSOD. For example, presently, if I visit ebay.com, it gets BSOD. Before it was happening on google.com, but IT removed my Firefox profile and that seemed to fix the Google failure. However, now it has started occurring on ebay. I turned off all extensions and it still occurs. I'd like to fix my system so this does not occur. The IT folks don't seem to be able to solve this, so I am trying to fix it on my own. The BSOD is about something like (from memory) IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL. Why would safe mode avoid the issue and what does that tell us about the probable cause? I don't want to have to keep deleting my profile, so I'd like to find out the cause of the corruption.

  • Gmail and FB is not rendering properly in Firefox

    I am unable read Gmail in my Firefox browser on my laptop. However, there are no problems when I try to access Gmail on my office desktop. In fact, Gmail renders fine on IE on both computers. Things I have tried: Uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox. Using Firefox 3.6.26 and Firefox 10; same problem. Clearing the cache. But all to no avail. For starters: My background image does not get loaded. It says "Oops. Your selected image failed to load". The buttons for the new look do not get rendered, but when I do a mouse-over I see text which helps me navigate. When I try to read a message, I see the subject line and I see the reply / forward box. The message body does not get rendered, it seems like a styling error.     Here is a strange bug I'm experiencing in Firefox: I can only use either the chrome, or the content, not both at the same time! For example, I can click on tabs and the toolbar icons, focus the search bar and write in it as well as the address bar, but if I try to click on anything in the content (eg a link or a textfield to write something), then nothing happens. The mouse pointer doesn't change either, it just stays a pointer when I hover over things, and the links I hover don't react either. But if I alt-tab to another program (or click on it in the taskbar), then back to Firefox, then I can use the area that I click on. So if I click somewhere on the webpage to get focus back to Firefox, then I can click on links and write things (like this text), but I cannot click on tabs or refresh or anything else in the chrome. I can't even click on the minimize, restore and close icons! To get focus back on the chrome I have to alt-tab to another program, and then click on the chrome to get back to Firefox to be able to use the chrome again. I've tried closing and starting it again, but the bug is still there. I have experienced this before, but I don't remember what I did to fix it. This bug seems to occur sometimes when I wake up the computer from standby, but I leave by computer in standby all the time, so that is not the only factor.

    I need to run Firefox in my server in order to execute some Selenium tests from Hudson. I would love no to have to install a complete gui. So I installed Xvfb in order to fake the Gui (I understand it this way correct me if my assumptions are wrong). Any explanation about the problem and ways of solving it without installing a full gui, will be very helpful.

    If you don't know what Khan Academy is, check it out. It's awesome. (For testing purpose you may view any video on the website.) My problem -- it's a minor problem, but annoying -- is that in Firefox (Windows 7), the icons below the video are shown as boxes with hex codes in them. This means the icons come from some font that isn't getting downloaded by Firefox. How it appears on Chrome (Windows 7), Safari (Mac OS X) and Stainless (Mac OS X): I checked out the source and found that the font in question is called "FontAwesome". I found this question in S.O. that may explain why this happens -- the CSS does use single quotes to enclose the font's src location. However I don't have any write access to Khan Academy servers so I can't modify the actual website. I want to know if this can be fixed in Firefox, and how. I can run Greasemonkey scripts if that would help. Also, would manually downloading the font and adding it to Windows' Fonts folder help? I tried this with the TTF font, and it does not help.   • Firefox 3.6.3 on Snow Leopard 10.6.3 - symbolic link to command line binary doesn't work?

    I have Firefox 10.6.3 installed on Mac OS X Snow Leopard from the DMG. I can run firefox from the terminal using /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin. However, if I create a symbolic link: sudo ln -s /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin /bin/firefox then it refuses to run, or at least display. When I issue "firefox" from the terminal, I can see the process in top, but never get the GUI to appear. :/ = ls -lr /bin/firefox lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 52 May 5 15:19 /bin/firefox - /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin Any ideas?   • Did Firefox running in OSX get hacked

    When I try to do a google search in Firefox, I can't click on any of the links. They're just regular black text, not hyperlinks. I even tried safe mode and disabling all the plugins. I was running Firefox 12. I installed the current version over it and it's the same thing. Other browsers have not been affected. This is what it looks like. Edit: My firewall was turned off and I had several things running which are potential security holes. I turned on my firewall and closed all unnecessary ports. I also turned off Home Sharing. Then I restarted my computer. After that, Firefox works normally again. What do you think happened?

    Hi, I'm a Firefox user since several years so I know it but today I had a strange problem. I installed the last stable version of Firefox (3.5.5) on a computer but when I launch the browser the page stay empty (blank). In the settings I set the startpage as Google but nothing to do. When the browser starts in the address bar it is well written google.com but the page remains blank. I must click on the button in the address bar so that the site appears. I've never had this problem with Firefox, it's strange. Thanks

  • Unable to click on tabs in Firefox unless I press Command-Q

    Why does clicking on tabs in Firefox sometimes fail until I hit cmd-Q, and then why does that not quit but instead make clicking on the tabs work, and how do I stop that behavior? I'm running Firefox 3.5.5 on Mac OS X 10.5 and this has been happening for a while (with previous versions of FF as well). I can't forcibly reproduce the behavior, but every now and then (few days?) I just can't click on tabs or on the x's to close the tabs. I can still ctrl-tab between tabs, though. But if I press cmd-Q, instead of quitting, Firefox seems to seize for a second and then I can click on tabs and click to close them just fine. No clue why this is happening or how to stop it. And I do have tons of extensions installed, so it's plausible one of them is the problem..... Thanks.

    Hi all, I want to uninstall Firefox 3.5.6 in favor of Opera 10.10. However, I've went into Control Panel Add or Remove Programs and tried clicking Remove from there, but nothing happens. I go into the Program Files for FIrefox and find the Uninstaller folder and click the helper.exe found in there. Still, nothing happens. Is there some possible way to uninstall Firefox without screwing up the rest of my computer? Computer is a EMACHINES T2482: http://emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T%20Series&model=T2482 RAM has been upgraded to 1 GB PC3200 DDR, GPU has been upgraded to 128MB GeForce 6200, HDD has been upgraded to 160 GB, PSU has been upgraded to 350W and Floppy and DVD Reader have been disconnected from mobo and power.   • Windows Live Mail treating my Firefox as mobile device

    I started using Namoroka (firefox 3.6 nighly) yesterday and since then, windows live mail has been treating it like a mobile device. Same thing happens when I try with Minefield (firefox 4 nightly). I've tried loading the default page in Chromium and then pasting the URL to firefox. The sign in page shows alright then, but as soon as I sign in, the mobile inbox shows up again. I've tried clearing the cache+history+cookies everything but nothing's working. Anyone know of a solution?
