I'm asking here just because the subject matter is jQuery.
Does anybody happen to know what font is used for the jQuery logo?
Trying to find out through WhatTheFont failed miserably.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Is there a way to increase the font size on a Windows Help file (CHM file) with recent versions of Internet Explorer? You used to be able to, but I think after IE7 the option was removed from the UI.
I've got a PDF file which has a single 'ZapfDingbat' font character (a big tick mark) in it. I opened it in Adobe Acrobat Professional and tried to use 'touch up' tool to change this character.
But I can't for some reason. How do I go about this?
Hi

I am writing sql reports to an oracle database, spooling them to a file and emailing them with mailx. I use the syntax below. The reports do not format properly, unless I use the Courier New font. How do I set this with mailx?
mailx -s "MY REPORT, date +'%D %r " -r "REPORTING SYSTEM" [email protected]< /mydir/mysql.log /dev/null
When I insert new text (insert textbox) or when I type in a presenter note, the default font size is 18. Can I change the default to 24? (I know about master slides but since text boxes and presenter notes are not place holders...)
Does anyone know how to either:
Make ffmpeg set subtitle font size in the output video file
Make mencoder produce an iPhone-compatible video file (with subtitles)
I finally found out how to get Closed Captions video on iPhone, with mkv and srt files as source material. The secret was using the mov_text subtitle codec in ffmpeg (and turning on Closed Captions in the iPhone settings of course):
ffmpeg -y -i in.mkv -i in.srt -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -map 1:0 -vcodec copy -acodec aac -ab 256k -scodec mov_text -strict -2 -metadata title="Title" -metadata:s:s:0 language=eng out.mp4
However, the font size appears very small on the iPhone, and I can't find out how to set it with ffmpeg (the iPhone has no option for this).
I found out that mencoder has a -subfont-text-scale option, but I don't have a lot of experience with this program. The following, my best attempt so far, produces an output file which is not playable on the iPhone.
sudo port install mplayer +mencoder_extras +osd
mencoder in.mkv -sub in.srt -o out.mp4 -ovc copy -oac faac -faacopts br=256:mpeg=4:object=2 -channels 2 -srate 48000 -subfont-text-scale 10 -of lavf -lavfopts format=mp4
PS! As requested, here is the output from mencoder:

what's the best program for viewing font files? I need to see the glyphs and their corresponding unicode. Windows Character Map does a horrible job at displaying certain fonts.
I have a problem with font scaling in Win 7. I tried to search but found no apparent solution to this.
About the problem: It manifest itself in older games (from Win 95 era). For example I get this
in "Demise rise of the kutan", and in some other games I don't get any errors but the fonts are completely out of place/alignment/size etc.
Is there way to fix it so that I can run older programs/games?
Any suggestions for a font size and setting you can use for the Macbook 13", as the default looks blocky, like chunks are missing, and I know the screen has the resolution to look nicer than that.
In a Autocad 2010 installation, the standard font used is RomanS.
That font is so limited on characters, so when I use "text" command I cannot add "³" on text of cubic meters measures (a "?" is displayed instead of the "³" character - see isolated text on figure below and Font characters Latin Supplement range).
When I use a dimension command, like multileader, Autocad "corrects" that issue using another font that support that missing character, resulting on an awful mixture (see text on multileader below - on multileader text properties, we can see 3m{\fArial|b0|i0|c0|p34;³}).
I can easily change that font with another, like Verdana, Times New Roman... that have more characters than RomanS font, but I would like to use an alternative font more like RomanS in appearance.
Any help?
I have been sent a QuarkXPress document which contains a number of unusual fonts which were also sent to me. The fonts were in a folder named fonts and then it was all zipped up into a single archive containing the document and fonts folder. I believe this was done on a machine running Mac OS X.
I have unzipped the archive, but all of the files in the fonts folder have no size - i.e. they are 0 bytes files. However there is also a _MACOSX folder which has a fonts subfolder. In here I can see all the font files (prefixed with .) and they all have a size, i.e. are not 0 bytes. Presumably these are the actual font files I need but I cannot figure out how to install them on Windows.
I have tried renaming the files to have .ttf and .otf extensions and then installing them but that doesn't seem to work - I just get an "Invalid font file" message.
Any other ideas?
I'm a programmer but new to (La)TeX. As far as I can tell, neither the Computer Modern nor Latin Modern fonts have glyphs for the full greek alphabet.
I installed (OS X) a Latin Modern font that came with TeX Live (lmroman10-regular.otf). As you can see in the attached image, the lowercase greek letters (and nabla) are displayed (TextEdit) using some default font.
Also shown in the image is LaTeXiT displaying pretty lowercase greek letters that seem to be Latin-Modern-Italic-ish.
So what font(s) are used by LaTeX for greek (and math symbols)? Where would I find them in the TeX fonts directory?

I'm transferring a project from CS4 to CS5 and (without any changes) my SWF file gets to be 10 times bigger. It was 7kb and now it's 77kb. I generated a size report and it looks like the font is taking up most of the space. I haven't changed settings. I'm not sure why font is taking up so much space. Is there a way around this? Here is my size report:
Font Name Bytes Characters
----------------- ---------- ----------
_sans 12
MilkyWell 317 .blsu
Calibri-Bold Bold 75960 %.0123456789
As you can see Calibri-Bold is taking up 75kb and I only have 12 characters in it.
Hi, I'm wondering if someone can help me with this as I'm fairly new to siFR and think there is something essential i'm not comprehending in the documentation.
I'm having success using siFR 3 (r436) to render fonts and it's working just how I want. However if I turn flash off in any browser the original (no longer rendered) html text displays very badly indeed.
I thought that in any non-flash browser my inital stylesheet would be referred to and not siFR.css and I would be able to adjust the html text as a seperate entity.
I think i probably developed this bad idea because I remember in earlier siFR versions you had to mess around alot with stylings on the original stylesheet + the sifr-config so you would get corresponding line heights/widths etc between the html and rendered font. (i realise that siFR 3 renders the flash in a different way)
So it seems that siFR.css controls both the non-flash text and the rendered font.
Anyway my essential noob questions is: how do i get the the original html text to have the same dimensions as the rendered font?
thanks for you help
I am losing .css (font mismatch when .toggle(true). How to get back my right .css?
$(document).ready(function() {
$('tr[@class^=RegText]').hide().children('td');
list_Visible_Ids = [];
var idsString, idsArray;
idsString = $('#myVisibleRows').val();
idsArray = idsString.split(',');
$.each(idsArray, function() {
if (this != "") {
$('#' + this).siblings('.RegText').toggle(true);
list_Visible_Ids[this] = 1;
}
});
Losing font:
$('#' + this).siblings('.RegText').toggle(true);
.css working fine if I use below code:
$('#' + this).siblings('.RegText').toggle();
But I want expand those sections by setting 'true'. How can I get back my font?
There is a class of fonts called Pi fonts whose glyphs, under OS X, get mapped to the private Unicode space 0xF021-0xF0FF such that if you subtract 0xF000 from each unicode character to retrieve the 8-bit version of the character and be able to draw that character as if it were a standard Roman character.
My question is how do I recognize these fonts? It's obvious the system can do so because there is a category on the Special Characters palette called "Pi Fonts" which apparently has the various such fonts installed on my system. In my case they are BookshelSymbolSeven, MSReferenceSpeciality, MT-Extras, Marlett, MonotypeSorts, Webdings, and various Wingdings. If I use the old fashioned QuickDraw routines to ask for the TextEncoding of these fonts, I get a value of 0x20000 which I do not see in the system header file TextCommon.h. Am I supposed to treat any font with a TextEncoding of 0x20000 as a Pi Font? And I'd rather not use any QuickDraw font handling routines for obvious reasons.
I have created a theme where I already have a custom options page where I let the user set text for footer, twitter user and some other things and that works well.
Now i'd like to add the functionality of letting the user select which font that should be used for content on the site. How can i accomplish this? I can probably create a php file that outputs something like:
<style type="text/css">
body{
font-family: <?php echo get_option('my-font');?>;
}
</style>
and include that file in header.php, but that means that I have to hit php for every request for this css and I want to avoid that if posssible.
Hi all,
I'm developing a microsoft surface application using expression blend+vs 2008.
I have a RichTextBox that loads formatted text from an .rtf file. The text is formatted with uppecases, color, and specific font (helvetica-neue).
When i load the text, it is displayed in the control with matching format (color and uppecase) but NOT matching font. it seems to use the standard Blend font (Thaoma).
the text is loaded with this function:
public static RichTextBox SetRTFText(string text, RichTextBox richTextBox)
{
MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream(ASCIIEncoding.Default.GetBytes(text));
TextRange documentTextRange = new TextRange(richTextBox.Document.ContentStart, richTextBox.Document.ContentEnd);
documentTextRange.Load(stream, DataFormats.Rtf );
return richTextBox;
}
thank you all!
I recently took on a project to build a webpage. I am an experienced developer but never worked with coding a psd file into a webpage.
Now, the psd file uses a specific font, which I do not have probably, as I can see it in grey and [ ] at the bottom of the fonts list.
Sorry for the naive question, but what am I supposed to do from the client's point of view? Should I have that font? Should I buy it? Can I extract it from the psd file?
And then, does it come into the web-page as @font-face?
Thanks for any suggestion
I'm working on a Sony Vaio VGN-CR120e.
I've cloned the original SATA 1.5 drive with Norton Ghost on to 2 new hard drives, the second of which is a Seagate 7200.4 320Gb 7200 RPM, with the jumper set to limit to SATA 1.5. (The first drive is a WD Scorpio Black 320Gb 7200RMP, which has no SATA 1.5 override support).
Neither of the cloned drives will boot - I immediately get a BlackSOD saying:
"Windows failed to start blah blah blah"
"File \Windows\system32\winload.exe"
"Status: 0xc000000e"
"Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt."
I've done this hundreds of times on other PC's, and this is the first time I've encountered such an error.
Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to proceeed, as I would rather not reinstall Vista unless absolutely necessary.
Well the first part of my day was spent researching how to remove MySQL to install MariaDB and the second part of my day was spent trying to reinstall MySQL cause something was messed up. So now I come to the masses for some help.
I have a box with cPanel/WHM on it. CentOS 5.6 64 bit. I have upgraded (through WHM) MySQL to 5.5.24 and that was successful. After some research, the options I found were an intimidating Linux command with pipes greps and dashes, and another command
yum remove mysql
I tried that out and it appeared to remove mysql.....ish. I tried installing MariaDB from this instructions page and it started to do it's thing and then came the zillions of errors (here's a small sample):

So it appeared that MySQL wasn't removed correctly. I've read from different tutorials given on different sites that to install MariaDB, you had to uninstall/remove MySQL and there weren't any commands given on how to do this.
Does anyone know how to "safely" remove MySQL on a WHM/cPanel server so that I can install MariaDB?
Here's my repo file in case anyone needs to know...
