  • Google Docs: Tie the Form with a Spreadsheet to email addresses and responses?

    Hello. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong or it's not possible. I created a small form ( I'm trying to get current mailing addresses from my friends and relatives - since I lost my address book) and it ties to a Google Spreadsheet. I sent out a sample to my work address - filled out a form and saved it. However when I go to see the responses - in a spreadsheet - it has a time stamp but it has no email associated with a response - so I don't know who made it ( well in this case I know it's me - but when you have 100 replies?) I understand - it may be great for anonymous surveys - but in this case I'd like to know who responded with what - and I don't wan to make them fill out Email and First Name & Last Name - I already have this information. Any suggestions?

    I've started working on a project to inject markers into a map with jQuery by looping through rows on a table in the page. After getting it working I realized that I was accessing the V3 API and using V3 syntax. I've been beating my head against a wall trying to get this working in google maps API V2.   • Mac Mini drive problems but SMART verified: bad hard drive or controller?

    I have a 3-year-old Intel Mac Mini at home. About a month ago, it stopped booting from the hard drive (internal, SATA, 80GB). I tried booting from the Install Disc to repair the filesystem but Disk Utility was unable to do so ("invalid node structure"). I was also unable to use the hard drive in the Terminal from the Install Disc nor from an Ubuntu boot CD ("DRDY err"). I could see the contents of some directories, but others would give an error and I would get failures when trying to copy files. At this point I was sure the filesystem was hosed and I'd want to reformat at least. DiskWarrior was able to let me retrieve the data files I was interested in, which are now copied to an external hard drive, but it reported a high number of problems ("speed reduced by disk malfunction" count was over 2000) when in the process of trying to rebuild the directory for the drive. It also would not let me use the rebuilt directory to replace the one on the drive; it claimed the disk errors prevented recovery in this way. Under normal circumstances I would now assume that the drive itself was going bad: DiskWarrior's "disk malfunction" error above is supposed to imply hardware problems. My initial plan was to buy a replacement for the internal 2.5" drive. However: Disk Utility, command-line tools and DiskWarrior had reported all along that the SMART status of the drive was okay/Verified. So I'm now worried that the drive hardware is actually fine, and that the problems were due to a disk controller that has gone "bad" somehow. If this is the case, I'll probably just replace the whole computer. Any advice on how I can tell what is to blame? I don't have a lot of extra hardware sitting around, so I don't have the option of simply dropping the drive in another machine or popping another hard drive inside the Mini.

    I have a situation here. I got my new Dell XPS 15 Laptop. The configuration of hard drive is as below : Volume 1: (OEM Partition): 133MB Volume 2: OS (C:): 685.25 GB Volume 3: Recovery : 13.25 GB Now, I am trying to re-partition my C Drive to have a C: drive with 100 GB and a new drive with 585 GB. Earlier, I tried using the Windows 7 Disk Management to shrink and extend the volume. That lead to the OS and hard drive not working. Dell Tech support tried to fix the issue, but they were not able to fix the issue online. Later a Dell Technician arrived my place, and replaced the hard drive with a new hard drive. Please help me re-partition the C: Drive with 100 GB, and new D drive with 585 GB. I don't want to lose my Recovery Partition. SOLUTION As Suggested by KCotreau below , I have done exactly. I have resized the C drive to 100 GB. And then applied the changes. Windows got restarted. On the boot screen, the partition was taking place. It took around 30 mins ( approx. ). Once after restart, I can see my C drive is 100 GB. Now opened the Easeus again. And created a new partition for the free space ( 585 GB ) this took 10 seconds to create.     I have been trying to get my google maps to display within a page of a mobile app. The map will display for a second, and then disappear.   • Google Play Music Not Adding MP3s On-Demand

    My recent attempts to add music on-demand to Google Play Music have yielded nothing - no "Processing music..." or "Added __ of __" messages, just nothing. Previously I could add music on-demand; and nothing has changed on the machine from which I successfully added music previously, from which I have tried to add music on-demand recently. What could be hampering my ability to add music on-demand? WHAT I'VE TRIED: Right after I started using GPM, I briefly found that I could not add music (on-demand), but the problem went away after a logout/login. This time a logout/login has not helped. Dragging & dropping or browsing to folders or files to add has made no difference either. Nor has waiting ridiculously long for GPM to show signs of life after adding music on-demand seemed to work. Digging deeper, I read a related Google Play Help article and followed its suggestions... ran the Google Play Music Manager troubleshooter = no errors or warnings double checked my available storage = 8 GB free double checked supported file types = MP3 is still supported (of course) ..., but the problem remains. UPDATE: I found that if I configure GPM to automatically upload music added to specific folders, it strangely does add automatically what it will not add on-demand.

  • Easiest way to replace preinstalled Windows 8 with new hard drive with Windows 7

    There are all kinds of questions and answers relevant moving Windows 8 to a new hard drive. I'm not seeing anything quite applicable to my situation. I have a new, unopened, unbooted notebook with pre-installed Windows 8. I will be replacing the hard drive before ever booting, unless that is not possible for some reason. I want to "downgrade" to Windows 7 Pro, and I want a clean installation. To do so legitimately, I apparently either need to: Upgrade Windows 8 to Windows 8 Pro using Windows 8 Pro Pack, then downgrade; or Just install a newly-licensed copy of Windows 7 Pro. (Let me know if I've missed an option.) Installation media is likely not a problem, though if I need something vendor-specific that I cannot otherwise download, that could present an issue (Asus notebook, if that matters). If I could, I would just buy the Pro Pack upgrade, swap the hard drive (without ever booting), then install Windows 7 Pro directly on the new hard drive, using the Pro Pack key for activation. Will this work? Are there any activation issues? Edited to clarify, as some comments and answers indicate confusion: Here is, ideally, what I want to do: Before ever powering on the notebook, remove the current hard drive. Replace this hard drive with a new, blank hard drive. Install a clean copy of Windows 7 Pro on this new, blank hard drive. Unless I have no choice to accomplish the end result (a clean install of Win7 Pro on the newly-installed, previously-blank hard drive), I am not wanting to: Install Windows 7 "over" the current Windows 8 install (after upgrading to Win8 Pro). That would involve using the currenly-installed hard drive. I want to use a new, different hard drive. Copy the Win8 install to the new hard drive, then install Windows 7 "over" that installation. Install Windows 7 "over" the current Windows 8 install (after upgrading to Win8 Pro), then copy the installation to the new hard drive. If I have to use one of those three options, I will, but only if there is no other choice. Please note that this question is not about licensing: I will purchase the necessary license(s) to accomplish this procedure legally (apparently either Win8 Pro Pack or Win7 Pro -- the former currently appears less expensive).

  • Is computer's DRAM size not as important once we get a Solid State Drive?

    I am thinking of getting a Dell X11 netbook, and it can go up to 8GB of DRAM, together with a 256GB Solid State Drive. So in that case, it can handle quite a bit of Virtual PC running Linux, and Win XP, etc. But is the 8GB of RAM not so important any more. Won't 2GB or 4GB be quite good if a Solid State Hard drive is used? I think the most worried thing is that the memory is not enough and the less often used data is swapped to the pagefile on hard disk and it will become really slow, but with SDD drive, the problem is a lot less of a concerned? Is there a comparison as to, if DRAM speed is n, then SDD drive speed is how many n and hard disk speed is how many n just as a ball park comparison?

    I have a Samsung G3 Station 2TB external hard drive (link to PDF specs here). It was working perfectly when I accidentally plugged it in my notebook's power source. The notebook's power source is 19V/3.42A. The hard drive's is 12V/2A and I know that, inside its case, there is regular 2TB SATA drive, along with some sort of adapter. Does this adapter has some kind of power protection? I opened the case and the hard drive board smells bad. Does my data is forever lost or can I replace its board?

  • Installing a 3.5" hard drive in a 2.5" bay?

    I know this question seems ridiculous, but my server (actually a Mini-ITX computer) has a 2.5" hard drive bay and an empty CD-ROM bay underneath it. If I removed the hard drive bay, I could probably mount a 3.5" hard drive in the CD-ROM bay which is unused... I know it's a big of a kludgy way to do things but it does mean upgrading the hard drive to 2TB is much cheaper. My question is: are the power requirements of a 3.5" disk the same as 2.5" one? I know the connectors physically will still fit, but I don't want to destroy my server!

    I have recently updated to Google Chrome 29.0.1547.76. And when I click a the new tab button there is a new homepage now. Ok. My current settings forbid from third party cookies being set. And I clear all of my browsing data every time I close or well if its been too long browsing. Ok so there is this help dialog that appears first time you open the new tab page. What I did was Cleared all my browsing settings (From Beginning of time) and then again I went to the new tab, the Help dialog appears. And for the third time I did the same and the Same thing Happened. So For the fourth time I cleared all my Browsing data. Clicked open new tab and then. navigate myself to chrome://settings/cookies. and there were So does this mean google is tracking our web History just for using Chrome. I know Its not Illegal because these cookies only appear when you click the new tab Google Chrome 29.0.1547.76. maybe that was the reason google redesigned the entire New:tab page. From this Google is forcing us to allow them track us. I don't want to set another page as my new:tab page. I just want the old one. Google has a long History of invading Privacy without users consent. There was that Safari incident. I am sure you people remember. So can anyone tell me about this issue? I maybe wrong. So please explain.

    Hi, everyone! I have a problem with Google suggest API when using Chinese locale. I am picking Chinese hieroglyphs at random and use the REST API to retrieve suggestions. Unfortunately, Google always return an empty list of suggestions (I am completely sure, that I convert my request in utf-8, and it is working fine with other languages, ex. Russian): Sample request: http://suggestqueries.google.com/complete/search?qu=%E9%80%9F Google answer: window.google.ac.h(["?",[]]) Does anyone know how to retrieve suggestions for Chinese locale?     The Base64 string checks out fine. I was able to export it to another website and download it again as my image. When I try to do an update using the Drive Javascript api, it just keeps returning this error: Invalidvaluefor:Notavalidbase64bytestring I also true making the string URL safe.     Short question is: how can i use graph api oauth redirects mechanism to authenticate user and save retrieved access_token and also use javascript SDK when needed (the problem is javascript SDK will have different access_token when initialized). I have initially setup my facebook iframe canvas app, with single sign on. This works well with graph api, as I am able to use access_token saved by facebook's javascript when it detects sessionchange(user logged in). But, I want to rather not do single sign-on. But, use graph api redirect and force user to send to a permissions dialog. But, if he has already given permissions, I shouldn't redirect user. How to handle this? Another question: I have done graph api redirects for authentication and have retrieved access_token also. But then, what if I want to use javascript call FB.ui to do stream.Publish? I think it will use it's own access_token which is set during FB.init and detecting session. So, I am looking for some path here. How to use graph api for authentication and also use facebook's javascript SDK when needed. P.S. I'm using ASP .NET MVC 2. I have an authentication filter developed, which needs to detect the user's authentication state and redirect.(currently it does this to graph api authorize url)

  • Hard drive after PCB swap strange stuff

    I’ve done a PCB swap to my HDD. The HDD model is: WD6400AAKS-00A7B2. The original PCB PN matches the new one (first three letter groups), though the cache mismatches (16MB original, 8MB new). The Hardware store that made the swap told me it was hard to do the swap, they have done firmware adaptation. I can see that this firmware version does not match the original, (01.03B01 original, 05.04E05 new). Still I can see that the serial number and model of the drive is correct, the hard drive appeared normal in the BIOS, all the partitions show and everything appears normal. I have encountered three things though, I have left the drive non operated for 2-3 weeks after the swap to avoid corrupting the data or anything else the new PCB might cause, until I buy a new drive and backup the data. I got a drive, and when I powered the old drive manually (I have a laptop, I use a normal desktop power supply and a USB/SATA connector), I heard the motor start and I could hear ticking as if the motor’s somehow struggling to start, and then the motor sound starts again then the ticking, and so on.. I tried powering again it happened again. The third time it started normally and I could see everything normally. I took the chance and copied all the data over to the new drive. When I was done, I powered off the drive (after more than 25 hours of continuous operation), tried to power it up again and it did so normally, and so are the times I powered it up later; but I got very suspicious now. What could be the problem here? And what happened new, it used to power normally after the swap directly? The second thing that happened is that I found size differences with some files; some include movies, songs, (.iso) files for games, and programs. I could find the size is the same, but size on disk is a little more on the new drive for these files. . I’ve tried some of those files (with size differences) they worked fine. They are not too much but still make you suspicious of the integrity of the data copied; one cannot try if all files are working for about (580 GB) worth of data. I tried copying these files on the same partition they exist of the old drive; they are the same in size as when copied to the new drive (allocation unit size not the issue). I took an image of a partition (sector by sector including empty ones) and when I explore it, these file sizes are equal to the original (old drive); I copy them anywhere else their size on disk, increases, i.e becomes equal to the ones I copy from the old drive itself anywhere. Why the size difference and can one trust the integrity of the data?? The third thing is that when I connect my new external USB HDD, the partitions of the old HDD unmount and then mount again. Connected are: (USB mouse + Old HDD) then external HDD. Why that happens?? Considering the following: I compared the SMART reports from after the swap directly and after the copying, no error readings or reallocated sectors where reported. I’m worried for this drive since I must be sure the data is fine and safe on the new one, and I will consider it backup for the new one, since you can’t trust anything anymore.     Background A site has multiple ccTLDs: example.com for people in the US, example.co.uk for UK users, example.de for Germany, example.fr for France, etc. Searching for certain city keywords will return a list of Google+ Local (formerly Places): Each links to the corresponding company website that is visible. Problem When searching on www.google.de, the domain of the site intended for US users (example.com) appears instead of the corresponding ccTLD (example.de) aimed at German users. This applies to all languages. In my opinion and for the purposes of this business, it's not good user experience: searchers would most likely prefer to book on a site localized for them (e.g. in their language and currency). Question Is it possible to return different ccTLDs in these local search listings for users across the globe? Currently, Google+ Local seems to only support supports adding a single "Website" field. Solutions I have considered Creating duplicate Google Places listings for each URL would be spammy (and not viable when there's 100s of locations, each needing a listing in 8 languages). I don't see the hreflang annotation helping either, and GWMT geotargeting is already set.
