  • Postgresql base backup script

    - by Terry Lorber
I'm using the following script to do a file-level backup of Postgresql. I sometimes see that the last part, to do cleanup after "pgs_backup_stop" is called, hangs while it waits for the last WAL to be created. The REF_FILE to search for is sometimes wrong. I'm also shipping these files to a different machine, every 5 minutes via rsync. What do other people do to safely remove old WAL files? #!/bin/bash PGDATA=/usr/local/pgsql/data WAL_ARCHIVE=/usr/local/pgsql/archives PGBACKUP=/usr/local/pgsqlbackup PSQL=/usr/local/pgsql/bin/psql today=`date +%Y%m%d-%H%M%S` label=base_backup_${today} echo "Executing pg_start_backup with label $label in server ... " CP=`$PSQL -q -Upostgres -d template1 -c "SELECT pg_start_backup('$label');" -P tuples_only -P format=unaligned` RVAL=$? echo "Begin CheckPoint is $CP" if [ ${RVAL} -ne 0 ] then echo "PSQL pg_start_backup failed" exit 1; fi echo "pg_start_backup executed successfully" echo "TAR begins ... " pushd $PGBACKUP tar -cjf pgdata-$today.tar.bz2 --exclude='pg_xlog' $PGDATA/* popd echo "TAR completed" echo "Executing pg_stop_backup in server ... " $PSQL -Upostgres template1 -c "SELECT pg_stop_backup();" if [ $? -ne 0 ] then echo "PSQL pg_stop_backup failed" exit 1; fi echo "pg_stop_backup done successfully" TO_SEARCH="*${CP:0:2}000000${CP:3:2}.00${CP:5}" echo "Check for ${WAL_ARCHIVE}/${TO_SEARCH}.backup" while [ ! -e ${WAL_ARCHIVE}/${TO_SEARCH}.backup ]; do echo "Waiting for ${WAL_ARCHIVE}/${TO_SEARCH}.backup" sleep 1 done REF_FILE="`echo ${WAL_ARCHIVE}/*${CP:0:2}000000${CP:3:2}`" echo "Reference file ${REF_FILE}" # "-not -newer" or "\! -newer" will also return REF_FILE # so you have to grep it out and use xargs; otherwise you # could also use the -delete action find ${WAL_ARCHIVE} -not -newer ${REF_FILE} -type f | grep -v "^${REF_FILE}$" | xargs rm -f REF_FILE="`echo ${PGBACKUP}/pgdata-$today.tar.bz2`" echo "Reference file ${REF_FILE}" find $PGBACKUP -not -newer ${REF_FILE} -type f -name pgdata* | grep -v "^${REF_FILE}$" | xargs rm -f

  • MMC crashes on Windows Server 2008 x64 - Exchange console, event viewer

    - by David M Williams
Help! I don't know what happened; this server has been very reliable but suddenly began having problems with a particular .NET 2.0 web site simply hanging - it wouldn't load at all. However, another ASP.NET site was still fine. Reinstalling the site didn't fix it, nor did deleting and re-creating the application within IIS. Trying the event viewer was met with a horrifying "Microsoft Management Console has stopped working". Some Googling led me to believe the .NET framework was the problem. I found a tool called the .NET cleanup tool - http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx - which cleaned out .NET entirely. I reinstalled .NET 1.1 and 3.5 (which installed 2.0 and 3.0 as well). Using the .NET verification tool - http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8999004.aspx - I believe these have all installed ok. However, my server is in worse shape now. The Exchange 2010 Management Console crashes with an MMC error and now my other (previously reliable) .NET web app now hangs on loading too. I thought I should use Computer Management to remove and re-add the application and web server roles but sure enough, MMC crashes. If anyone can help I will be extremely grateful. Thank you !

  • saslauthd using too much memory

Woke up today to see my site slow/unresponsive. Pulled up top and it looks like a ton of saslauthd processes have spun up using about 64m of RAM each, causing the machine to enter swap space. • Email test deferred (mail transport unavailable) with ClamAV

    - by dirt
I'm trying to set up a simple new mail server; when I send a test email to the server the email is getting hung up during delivery (user mapping is found) and the email is never found in /home/user/Maildir/new Here is my maillog after a fresh reboot and test email, there are a few warnings I am unfamiliar with. • PostgreSQL continuous archiving not running archive_command

    - by Whatsit
I've been trying to set up continuous archiving for a simple, test PostgreSQL 9.0 database, as per the documentation. In postgres.conf I've set: wal_level = archive archive_mode = on archive_command = 'touch /home/myusername/backup/testtouch' archive_timeout = 30s ...and restarted PostgreSQL. The file listed by touch never appears. I can manually run the touch command and it works as expected. If I try to create a backup, it waits forever for the archive_command. In psql; postgres=# SELECT pg_start_backup('touchtest'); pg_start_backup ----------------- 0/14000020 (1 row) postgres=# SELECT pg_stop_backup(); NOTICE: pg_stop_backup cleanup done, waiting for required WAL segments to be archived WARNING: pg_stop_backup still waiting for all required WAL segments to be archived (60 seconds elapsed) HINT: Check that your archive_command is executing properly. pg_stop_backup can be cancelled safely, but the database backup will not be usable without all the WAL segments. What would cause this? How can I troubleshoot it? Additional info: Running on CentOS 5.4. PostgreSQL 9.0.2 installed as root.

  • postfix says mail sent ok, message does not arrive in ISPs inbox? no reject in log?

    - by Nick
When I send a test message from my mail server to my @bellsouth.net email, The postfix log shows it was sent OK, but the message never arrives in my bellsouth inbox. Shouldn't I get a failure notice or a bounce if At&T is blocking the messages? I'm trying to troubleshoot why some customers aren't getting emails, but if there's nothing in mail.log to say the message is rejected, how do I know which messages were delivered successfully? The log shows: Feb 27 09:02:36 MyHOSTNAME postfix/pickup[26175]: D53A72713E5: uid=0 from=<root> Feb 27 09:02:36 MyHOSTNAME postfix/cleanup[26487]: D53A72713E5: message-id=<[email protected]> Feb 27 09:02:36 MyHOSTNAME postfix/qmgr[5595]: D53A72713E5: from=<[email protected]>, size=878, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Feb 27 09:02:37 MyHOSTNAME postfix/smtp[26490]: D53A72713E5: to=<[email protected]>, relay=gateway-f1.isp.att.net[204.127.217.16]:25, delay=0.57, delays=0.11/0.03/0.23/0.19, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 ok ; id=20120227140036M0700qer4ne) Feb 27 09:02:37 MyHOSTNAME postfix/qmgr[5595]: D53A72713E5: removed The AT&T server accepted the message, right? I happen to have an At&T/Bellsouth email, but I don't have an account with every ISP we send to. I need some way of knowing if a message is getting to its destination or not. Is there any setting in my main.cf file that would affect whether or not we get reject/bounce notices?

  • Google Chrome sync: limit for bookmarks & extensions?

    - by Lyubomyr Shaydariv
Actually, Chrome is my favorite web-browser, and one of its most powerful features is synchronizing the actual data into a Google account. For the last years I gained a lot of bookmarks and from time to time browse the extensions gallery to find new valuable ones. Really, synchronizing between my work and home PC's freed me from manual sync. And for the recent months I experience strange glitches. I guess it may be caused by a lot of stored bookmarks (potentially about 3K [in estimate], but please don't ask why :)) and extensions (about 130 installed but only 10-15 daily used). I can mention the following strange things: Recently added bookmarks sometimes are not synchronized (e.g. I put a bookmark at work, but it's not guaranteed I can see it that evening), despite about:sync indicates a good sync process. Sometimes recently modified bookmarks appear in either (let's call) last at home or last at work bookmark folders. Sometimes bookmarks are not synced at all. (Moreover, Chromium versions may even crash) Extensions are not synced now at all. Perhaps, there's another reason, but Google Mail Checker and Google Reader Notifier do not show indicators of incoming e-mails and news. ... I'm not sure but it looks like I might exceed Chrome internal sync limits... Is it right? Are there any workarounds, or should I make a massive bookmarks/extensions cleanup (I really don't want it :()? I mostly use Google Chrome Canary builds, and the my current one is 12.0.732.0. Thanks in advance. Update #1 (2001-04-19): I removed about 50 extensions that I'm not interested in (or that I consider as trash), and gained pretty some results: The extensions count is below 100 (exactly 97); The chrome://extensions page does not get slow (or even frozen) any more on enabling/disabling/uninstalling extensions; The extensions are seem to be synchronized now again.

  • Cron won't use msmtp to send emails in case of failed cronjob

    - by Glister
I'm trying to configure a machine so that it will send me an email if one of the cronjobs output something in case of an error. I'm using Debian Wheezy. Cron is working normally (without the email functionality). msmtp is installed and configured. Have already symlinked /usr/{bin|sbin}/sendmail to /usr/bin/msmtp. I can send email by using: echo "test" | mail -s "subject" [email protected] or by executing: echo "test" | /usr/sbin/sendmail Without the symlink (/usr/sbin/sendmail) cron will tell me that: (CRON) info (No MTA installed, discarding output) With the symlinks I get: (root) MAIL (mailed 1 byte of output; but got status 0x004e, #012) Can you suggest how to config the cron/msmtp pair? Thanks! EDIT: Note: I've written "msmtpd" by mistake. Its not a daemon but rather an SMTP client named just "msmtp" (without the "d" ending). It is executed on demand and it is not running in the background all the time. When I try to send an email by using msmtp like that it works: echo "test" | msmtp [email protected] On the far side, in the logs of the SMTP server I read: Nov 2 09:26:10 S01 postfix/smtpd[12728]: connect from unknown[CLIENT_IP] Nov 2 09:26:12 S01 postfix/smtpd[12728]: 532301C318: client=unknown[CLIENT_IP], sasl_method=CRAM-MD5, [email protected] Nov 2 09:26:12 S01 postfix/cleanup[12733]: 532301C318: message-id=<> Nov 2 09:26:12 S01 postfix/qmgr[2404]: 532301C318: from=<[email protected]>, size=191, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Nov 2 09:26:12 S01 postfix/local[12734]: 532301C318: to=<[email protected]>, orig_to=<[email protected]>, relay=local, delay=0.62, delays=0.59/0.01/0/0.03, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (delivered to command: IFS=' ' && exec /usr/bin/procmail -f- || exit 75 #1001) Nov 2 09:26:12 S01 postfix/qmgr[2404]: 532301C318: removed Nov 2 09:26:13 S01 postfix/smtpd[12728]: disconnect from unknown[CLIENT_IP] And the Email is delivered to the target user. So it looks like that the msmtp client is working properly. It has to be something in the cron/msmtp integration, but I have no clue what that thing might be. Can you help me?

  • Dovecot unable to perform mysql query

    - by NathanJ2012
I have been following the ISPMail tutorials on workaround.org (the 2.9 Wheezy version) and thus far everything has been working fine. • Postfix with relayhost - relay access denied for bounces

    - by Alex
I have set up a Postfix Mailserver, outgoing mail is being sent through a smarthost/relayhost which requires authentification. That works great, internal clients can send to foreign recipients though this relayhost. However, when an external mail for a local, non-existent user arrives at the server, postfix tries to send a non-delivery notification to the sender. This mail is also sent through the relayhost obviously, but it fails with error 554 5.7.1 : Relay access denied This gets logged to the mail.log: Nov 9 10:26:42 mail postfix/local[5051]: 6568CC1383: to=<[email protected]>, relay=local, delay=0.13, delays=0.02/0.02/0/0.09, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (unknown user: "test") Nov 9 10:26:42 mail postfix/cleanup[5045]: 85DF9BFECD: message-id=<[email protected]> Nov 9 10:26:42 mail postfix/qmgr[4912]: 85DF9BFECD: from=<>, size=3066, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Nov 9 10:26:42 mail postfix/bounce[5052]: 6568CC1383: sender non-delivery notification: 85DF9BFECD Nov 9 10:26:42 mail postfix/qmgr[4912]: 6568CC1383: removed Nov 9 10:26:43 mail postfix/smtp[5053]: 85DF9BFECD: to=<[email protected]>, relay=mail.provider.com[168.84.25.111]:587, delay=0.48, delays=0.02/0.01/0.26/0.18, dsn=5.7.1, status=bounced (host mail.provider.com[168.84.25.111] said: 554 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Relay access denied (in reply to RCPT TO command)) Nov 9 10:26:43 mail postfix/qmgr[4912]: 85DF9BFECD: removed According to this error, I suppose that postfix does not login at the relayhost when sending those bounces. Why? Normal outgoing mail works just fine. This is how my main.cf looks like: http://pastebin.com/Uu1Dryxy And of course /etc/postfix/sasl_password contains the correct credentials for the relayhost. Thanks in advance!

  • Postfix: Modify sender address based on recipient

    - by PJ P
We have a Postfix server that receives mail from our application servers. Senders are in the form [email protected] (where host.fqdn can vary, depending on source server) and recipients can be internal or external users. Messages going to external users should have the sender changed to [email protected]. I have tried using canonical maps, but since that is handled by the cleanup daemon, before any transport decisions are made, it would affect all sender addresses. I have also tried creating a custom smtp transport with generic mappings and configuring transport_maps to use that custom smtp transport for external domains. However, generic mappings affect both sender and recipient addresses. Lastly, I've tried the following: Create a custom smtpd daemon that specifies sender canonical maps and a unique transport table. Send all externally addressed mail to that custom daemon. Ideally, sender canonical maps would transform the sender address and the unique transport table would relay messages to the internet. However, evidently, only one transport table can be used per Postfix instance. I want to avoid creating an entirely new Postfix instance to accommodate this rewriting. Any suggestions? (and thanks in advance)

  • How do I stop postfix from handling my mail?

    - by Tatu Ulmanen
Here's the situation: I have a domain, let's say domain.com. That domain has Google Apps for Business enabled, so all mail delivered to @domain.com will end up at Google (MX records point to Google). I have a PHP script at domain.com that I use to send mail to myself. But when the PHP script tries to send mail to [email protected], Postfix at that server decides that the recipient is a local user (because the address matches the domain Postfix itself is at), and tries to deliver the mail locally. But inevitably fails as the mailbox cannot be found. How can I instruct Postfix to not try to handle locally any emails to @domain.com and just send them forward so Google can pick them up? I have already removed $myhostname from mydestination field in Postfix's main.cf file, and I have restarted Postfix but Postfix still tries to deliver the mail locally. Here's a snip from mail.log that show the problem (addresses replaced): postfix/pickup[20643]: AF718422E5: uid=33 from=<server> postfix/cleanup[20669]: AF718422E5: message-id=<62e706bcca5a0de0bfec6baa576d88a5@server> postfix/qmgr[20642]: AF718422E5: from=<server>, size=517, nrcpt=1 (queue active) postfix/pipe[20678]: AF718422E5: to=<[email protected]>, relay=dovecot, delay=0.62, delays=0.47/0.03/0/0.13, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (user unknown) postfix/bounce[20680]: AF718422E5: sender non-delivery notification: 29598422E7 postfix/qmgr[20642]: AF718422E5: removed

  • Set postfix to send email but not to receive them

    - by CodeShining
I'm using Google Apps to handle personal email addresses for my domain name, and I set up the DNS as Google suggests. All works fine. Now since I need a SMTP to send emails from my e-commerce I installed Postfix on the server. It works fine when I send emails to any email address but it doesn't send to the same domain name, so let's say my domain is example.com, I set postfix using example.com, if I try to reset a password using [email protected] postfix doesn't send and instead reports on the mail.log Sep 20 01:09:52 ip-10-54-26-162 postfix/pickup[6809]: B09A3415D8: uid=33 from=<www-data> Sep 20 01:09:52 ip-10-54-26-162 postfix/cleanup[6854]: B09A3415D8: message-id=<20120920010952.B09A3415D8@ip-10-54-26-162.eu-west-1.compute.internal> Sep 20 01:09:52 ip-10-54-26-162 postfix/qmgr[30978]: B09A3415D8: from=<[email protected]>, size=4234, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Sep 20 01:09:52 ip-10-54-26-162 postfix/local[6856]: B09A3415D8: to=<[email protected]>, relay=local, delay=0.01, delays=0.01/0/0/0, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (unknown user: "myaccount") Of course it cannot find a local user "myaccount" since that account is on Google Apps... How can I tell Postfix to send the email and do not search for a local user?

  • SVN hangs on commit - any suggestions for troubleshooting?

    - by Richard Beier
We're having a problem with SVN... Subversion clients such as TortoiseSVN hang when we commit any more than a few files at a time to our server. Everything appears to actually be committed successfully to the repository; but the client hangs after all the data has been transmitted. We're using version 1.4.4 of the SVN server. We use the svn:// protocol rather than http to connect. We've reproduced this problem with several clients: TortoiseSVN (1.6.10), AnkhSVN (2.1), and the Silk command-line client (1.6.12). This is happening for everyone on the team, though some people seem to be more affected than others. If someone commits only a few files, it often works; but with more than half a dozen files, it usually hangs. Does anyone have troubleshooting suggestions? This has been happening sporadically for a while, but it's become pretty consistent lately. We've been working around the issue by killing the hung SVN client, doing "svn cleanup", and then doing "svn up"; but sometimes that causes tree conflicts. Another workaround is to blow away the workspace and check it out again after every commit; but of course that's pretty annoying. Are there any diagnostics that could help us troubleshoot this? We're considering upgrading to SVN 1.6 server, and installing the server on a new machine; but we're wondering if there's an easier solution. Thanks for your help, Richard

  • sendmail on Snow Leopard

    - by Jay
    I'm trying to get sendmail working on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.4), so that I can send mail with PHP's mail() function. If you know how to do this without sendmail, I'd be interested in that also. The plan is to send mail through smtp.gmail.com using my gmail account, unless you have a better idea. I did this and that didn't work. In /etc/postfix/smtp_sasl_passwords I tried both:     smtp.yourisp.com username:password and     smtp.yourisp.com [email protected]:password The problem seems to be that google doesn't like me. I don't think my ISP is blocking it because Mail.app can send email through smtp.gmail.com just fine. $email is my gmail address. $ printf "Subject: TestMail" | sendmail -f $email $email $ tail /var/log/mail.log Oct 21 19:38:18 Jays-MacBook-Pro postfix/master[8741]: daemon started -- version 2.5.5, configuration /etc/postfix Oct 21 19:38:18 Jays-MacBook-Pro postfix/qmgr[8743]: CAACBFA905: from=<$email>, size=377, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Oct 21 19:38:18 Jays-MacBook-Pro postfix/pickup[8742]: C2A68FA93A: uid=501 from=<$email> Oct 21 19:38:18 Jays-MacBook-Pro postfix/cleanup[8744]: C2A68FA93A: message-id=<20101021233818.$mydomain> Oct 21 19:38:18 Jays-MacBook-Pro postfix/qmgr[8743]: C2A68FA93A: from=<$email>, size=377, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Oct 21 19:38:18 Jays-MacBook-Pro postfix/smtp[8746]: initializing the client-side TLS engine Oct 21 19:38:18 Jays-MacBook-Pro postfix/smtp[8748]: initializing the client-side TLS engine Oct 21 19:38:49 Jays-MacBook-Pro postfix/smtp[8746]: connect to smtp.gmail.com[74.125.157.109]:25: Operation timed out Oct 21 19:38:49 Jays-MacBook-Pro postfix/smtp[8748]: connect to smtp.gmail.com[74.125.157.109]:25: Operation timed out Oct 21 19:38:49 Jays-MacBook-Pro postfix/smtp[8746]: CAACBFA905: to=<$email>, relay=none, delay=1334, delays=1304/0.04/30/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to smtp.gmail.com[74.125.157.109]:25: Operation timed out) Oct 21 19:38:49 Jays-MacBook-Pro postfix/smtp[8748]: C2A68FA93A: to=<$email>, relay=none, delay=30, delays=0.08/0.05/30/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to smtp.gmail.com[74.125.157.109]:25: Operation timed out) $ I also tried setting myhostname, mydomain, and myorigin in /etc/postfix/main.cf to $ nslookup myip (as displayed by http://www.whatismyip.com/) And still no luck.   • Better logging for cronjob output using /usr/bin/logger

    - by Stefan Lasiewski
I am looking for a better way to log cronjobs. Most cronjobs tend to spam email or the console, get ignored, or create yet another logfile. In this case, I have a Nagios NSCA script which sends data to a central Nagios sever. This send_nsca script also prints a single status line to STDOUT, indicating success or failure. 0 * * * * root /usr/local/nagios/sbin/nsca_check_disk This emails the following message to root@localhost, which is then forwarded to my team of sysadmins. Spam. forwarded nsca_check_disk: 1 data packet(s) sent to host successfully. I'm looking for a log method which: Doesn't spam the messages to email or the console Don't create yet another krufty logfile which requires cleanup months or years later. Capture the log information somewhere, so it can be viewed later if desired. Works on most unixes Fits into an existing log infrastructure. Uses common syslog conventions like 'facility' Some of these are third party scripts, and don't always do logging internally. UPDATE 2010-04-30 In the process of writing this question, I think I have answered myself. So I'll answer myself "Jeopardy-style". Is there any problem with this method? The following will send any Cron output to /usr/bin//logger, which will send to syslog, with a 'tag' of 'nsca_check_disk'. Syslog handles it from there. My systems (CentOS and FreeBSD) already handle log rotation. */5 * * * * root /usr/local/nagios/sbin/nsca_check_disk 2>&1 |/usr/bin/logger -t nsca_check_disk /var/log/messages now has one additional message which says this: Apr 29, 17:40:00 192.168.6.19 nsca_check_disk: 1 data packet(s) sent to host successfully. I like /usr/bin/logger , because it works well with an existing syslog configuration and infrastructure, and is included with most Unix distros. Most *nix distributions already do logrotation, and do it well.

  • Autologin 2 Windows users OR Login another user from the desktop

    - by fpdragon
I'm using two windows users on my HTPC at the same time. One is just for watching videos and one for administration via remote. This setup is quite ideal for me since windows can handle multiple concurrent logins and the win "rdp concurrent hack" (Google). The problem is, I want both users to be logged in automatically when the pc was started. It shall be possible to watch tv and also the admin user shall be automatically logged in to start my scripts and other tasks, even if I haven't logged in via remote desktop manually. Later, when I want to admin my htpc I can just rdp connect the admin user without interrupting the video playback on the actual HTPC's screen and check my cleanup tasks, downloads, ... witch already executed for this admin user. But right now I found no solution to automatically login user A from a user B desktop and I also found no solution to autologin both users immediately at startup. As a workaround I have to fire up my other notebook machine and login one time with the remote user via rdp. From this time on the remote admin user is running concurrent with the main user in the background of the machine. The other workaround would be... after startup switch user from main user to admin user and then back again. But that also requires manual steps. I'm on a Windows 8 System right now but all infos for Win7 or XP would be also interesting. thanks a lot for all ideas. PS: just to prevent useless posts... don't tell me that only one user can be logged in to windows. ;)

  • Postfix SMTP-relay server against Gmail on CentOS 6.4

I'm currently trying to setup an SMTP-relay server to Gmail with Postfix on a CentOS 6.4 machine, so I can send e-mails from my PHP scripts. • Postfix message ID originating process?

    - by Anders Braüner Nielsen
Last night my postfix mail server(Debian Squeeze with dovecot, roundcube, opendkim and spamassassin enabled) started sending out spam from a single domain of mine like these: $cat mail.log|grep D6930B76EA9 Jul 31 23:50:09 myserver postfix/pickup[28675]: D6930B76EA9: uid=65534 from=<[email protected]> Jul 31 23:50:09 myserver postfix/cleanup[27889]: D6930B76EA9: message-id=<[email protected]> Jul 31 23:50:09 myserver postfix/qmgr[7018]: D6930B76EA9: from=<[email protected]>, size=957, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Jul 31 23:50:09 myserver postfix/error[7819]: D6930B76EA9: to=<[email protected]>, relay=none, delay=0.03, delays=0.02/0/0/0, dsn=4.4.2, status=deferred (delivery temporarily suspended: lost connection with mta5.am0.yahoodns.net[66.196.118.33] while sending RCPT TO) The domain in question did not have any accounts enabled but only a catchall alias set through postfixadmin - most emails were send from a specific address I use frequently but some were also sent from bogus addresses. None of the other virtual domains handled by postfix were affected. How can I find out what process was feeding postfix/sendmail or more info on where they originated? As far as I can tell php mail() wasn't used and I've run several open relay tests. I did a little tinkering(removed winbind from the server and ipv6 addresses from main.cf) after the attack and it seems to have subsided but I still have no idea how my server was suddenly sending out spam. Maybe I fixed it - maybe I didn't. Can anyone help figuring out how I was compromised? Anywhere else I should look? I've run Linux Malware Detect on recently changed files but nothing found.

  • Postfix cannot deliver mail to Cyrus mailbox on Ubuntu 11.10 server

    - by user105804
I have installed and configured Postfix and Cyrus IMAP server with webcyradm according to this document - http://www.delouw.ch/linux/Postfix-Cyrus-Web-cyradm-HOWTO/html/index.html . I can access webcyradm interface, I can create new domains and new users, and I can login via IMAP after creating the user account. However, Postfix fails to deliver mail to cyrus mailboxes. Mail log contains errors shown below. Installing any IMAP server other than cyrus is not an option because it is needed by the web application. Please advise me how to make Postfix deliver email to cyrus mailboxes. The solution should not necessary include web-cyradm, but there should be a web interface for managing mail domains and mailboxes as user-friendly as possible. • Solution to easily share large files with non-tech-savvy users?

    - by Tim
Hey all, We've got a server setup at work which we'd like to use to exchange large files with known clients easily. We're looking into software to facilitate this, but somewhow typing "large file hosting" into Google gives questionable results.. ;) We've come up with the following requirements, and I hope any of you can points us in the direction of a solution that offers this functionality, or is malleable to our needs. Synchronization / revision management is of no concern, it's mostly single large (up to 1+ GB) file uploads & downloads we'll need. We'd like to make the downloads expire & be removed after a certain number of days / downloads, to limit the amount of cleanup we'd have to do. The data files exchanged sometimes hold confidential information, so the URLs generated should be random and not publicly visible. Our users are of the less technically savvy variety, so a simple webform would be best over a desktop client (because we also have to support a mix of operating systems). As for use of the system we'd either like to send out generated random URLs for them to upload their files, or have an easy way manage & expire users. Works on a linux (Ubuntu) server (so nothing .Net-related please) Does anyone know of software that fits the above criteria? We've already seen a few instances of this within the scientific community, but nothing we could use directly.. Best regards, Tim
