• jboss 5.0 data source configuration in ear file. How can I run oracle 10g and 11g on the same serve

- by Joe
Currently my setup is: in my ear META-INF/jboss-app.xml <jboss-app> <service>datasource-ds.xml</service> </module> and datasource-ds.xml <datasources> <local-tx-datasource> <jndi-name>jdbc/mydeployment</jndi-name> <connection-url>jdbc:oracle:thin:@eir:myport:mydbname</connection-url> <driver-class>oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</driver-class> <user-name>myuser</user-name> <password>mypassword</password> <exception-sorter-class-name>org.jboss.resource.adapter.jdbc.vendor.OracleExceptionSorter</exception-sorter-class-name> <metadata> <type-mapping>Oracle9i</type-mapping> </metadata> </local-tx-datasource> </datasources> and it works when ojdbc5.jar is in my servername/lib How can I config my oracle driver information in my .ear file so that I can have two different ear deployments, one using oracle 10g and one using oracle 11g?

• grails prod run-app connects to mysql but grails prod run-war doesn't

- by damian
Hi, I have a unexpected problem. I had create a war with grails war. Then I had deployed in Tomcat. For my surprise the crud works fine but I don't know what persistence is using. So I did this test: Compare grails prod run-app with grails prod run-war. The first works fine, and does conect with the mysql database. The other don't. This is my DataSource.groovy: dataSource { pooled = true driverClassName = "com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" username = "grails" password = "mysqlgrails" } hibernate { cache.use_second_level_cache=false cache.use_query_cache=false cache.provider_class='net.sf.ehcache.hibernate.EhCacheProvider' } // environment specific settings environments { development { dataSource { dbCreate = "update" // one of 'create', 'create-drop','update' url = "jdbc:mysql://some-key.amazonaws.com/MyDB" } } test { dataSource { dbCreate = "update" // one of 'create', 'create-drop','update' url = "jdbc:mysql://some-key.amazonaws.com/MyDB" } } production { dataSource { dbCreate = "update" url = "jdbc:mysql://some-key.amazonaws.com/MyDB" } } } Also I extract the war to see if I could find some data source configuration file without success. More info: Grails version: 1.2.1 JVM version: 1.6.0_17 Also I think this question it's similar, but doesn't have a awnser.

• Hibernate - Batch update returned unexpected row count from update: 0 actual row count: 0 expected:

- by Sujee
Hi All, I get following hibernate error. I am able to identify the function which causes the issue. Unfortunately there are several DB calls in the function. I am unable to find the line which causes the issue since hibernate flush the session at the end of the transaction. The below mentioned hibernate error looks like a general error. it doesn't even mentioned which Bean causes the issue. Anyone familiar with this hibernate error? Looking forward your help. Thanks in advance. • Why can I run JUnit tests for my Spring project, but not a main method?

- by FarmBoy
I am using JDBC to connect to MySQL for a small application. In order to test without altering the real database, I'm using HSQL in memory for JUnit tests. I'm using Spring for DI and DAOs. Here is how I'm configuring my HSQL DataSource <bean id="mockDataSource" class="org.springframework.jdbc.datasource.SingleConnectionDataSource"> <property name="driverClassName" value="org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver"/> <property name="url" value="jdbc:hsqldb:mem:mockSeo"/> <property name="username" value="sa"/> </bean> This works fine for my JUnit tests which use the mock DB. But when I try to run a main method, I find the following error: Error creating bean with name 'mockDataSource' defined in class path resource [beans.xml]: Error setting property values; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.PropertyBatchUpdateException; nested PropertyAccessExceptions (1) are: PropertyAccessException 1: org.springframework.beans.MethodInvocationException: Property 'driverClassName' threw exception; nested exception is java.lang.IllegalStateException: Could not load JDBC driver class [org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver] I'm running from Eclipse, and I'm using the Maven plugin. Is there a reason why this would work as a Test, but not as a main()? I know that the main method itself is not the problem, because it works if I remove all references to the HSQL DataSource from my Spring Configuration file.

• Problem with grails web app running in production: "No such property: save for class: JsecRole"

I've got a grails 1.1 web app running great in development but when I try and run it in production with an sqlserver database it crashes in a weird way. • resource-ref at application scope in EJB 2.1 Project

- by Mike Deck
Is it possible to define resource references that are applicable to all EJBs in an application? Currently I have an ejb-jar.xml that looks something like this: <ejb-jar> <enterprise-beans> <session id="foo"> <!-- snip --> <resource-ref> <res-ref-name>jdbc/myDatasource</res-ref-name> <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type> <res-auth>Container</res-auth> </resource-ref> </session> <session id="bar"> <!-- snip --> <resource-ref> <res-ref-name>jdbc/myDatasource</res-ref-name> <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type> <res-auth>Container</res-auth> </resource-ref> </session> </enterprise-beans> </ejb-jar> You'll notice that both EJBs have the same resource-ref defined for both of them. Is there a way to factor this duplication out within a J2EE 1.4 application? Ideally I should be able to define the jdbc/myDatasource resource once within the application and have anything running inside that container be able to access it by doing a JNDI lookup for "java:comp/env/jdbc/myDatasource". Is there any way to accomplish this?

• TCP: Address already in use exception - possible causes for client port? NO PORT EXHAUSTION

- by TomTom
Hello, stupid problem. I get those from a client connecting to a server. Sadly, the setup is complicated making debugging complex - and we run out of options. The environment: *Client/Server system, both running on the same machine. The client is actually a service doing some database manipulation at specific times. * The cnonection comes from C# going through OleDb to an EasySoft JDBC driver to a custom written JDBC server that then hosts logic in C++. Yeah, compelx - but the third party supplier decided to expose the extension mechanisms for their server through a JDBC interface. Not a lot can be done here ;) The Symptom: At (ir)regular intervals we get a "Address already in use: connect" told from the JDBC driver. They seem to come from one particular service we run. Now, I did read all the stuff about port exhaustion. This is why we have a little tool running now that counts ports and their states every minute. Last time this happened, we had an astonishing 370 ports in use, with the count rising to about 900 AFTER the error. We aleady patched the registry (it is a windows machine) to allow more than the 5000 client ports standard, but even then, we are far far from that limit to start with. Which is why I am asking here. Ayneone an ide what ELSE could cause this? It is a Windows 2003 Server machine, 64 bit. The only other thing I can see that may cause it (but this functionality is supposedly disabled) is Symantec Endpoint Protection that is installed on the server - and being capable of actinc as a firewall, it could possibly intercept network traffic. I dont want to open a can of worms by pointing to Symantec prematurely (if pointing to Symantec can ever be seen as such). So, anyone an idea what else may be the cause? Thanks

• Cannot connect to mysql via servlet

- by JBoy
Hi all I have been since 2 days trying to figure out why my servlet does not connect to the database MySql. I have mysql installed and working properly and eclipse. Whenever i try to etabilish a connection i get the ClassNotFoundException for the com.mysql.jdbc.Driver, which is actually properly imported, the connector i'm using is the mysql-connector-java5.1.14 added properly as external jar so everything seems fine. here's my code protected void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { String dbUrl="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test"; String username="root"; String password=""; try { Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance(); conn=DriverManager.getConnection(dbUrl); System.out.println("Connected!"); } catch (SQLException e) { e.printStackTrace(); System.out.println("not connected"); } catch(ClassNotFoundException x){ x.printStackTrace(); } catch(Exception e){ e.printStackTrace(); } } The stacktrace(part of): java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver at org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.loadClass(WebappClassLoader.java:1645) at org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.loadClass(WebappClassLoader.java:1491) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:375) at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method) at java.lang.Class.forName(Class.java:164) i'm following the connection steps from a published java book and also in forums and tutorials i just see the same code, cannot figure out why that Exception comes. On a normal application which does not run on the server the Exception isn't thrown and the connection (in the exact same way) its successfull. Do you have any advice?

• Tomcat can't talk to MySql after outage

- by gav
I missed a payment for my server and hey suspended my account for a day or so. When they brought the server back up all my data was in tact but for some reason Tomcat can't make a JDBC connection to my MySql server. They both run on the same machine and hence I have a bind address of 127.0.0.1. It's strange because I have reset the machine of my own accord before without issue but clearly something has been reset in the downtime. I followed this guide (Just the bits which don't concern S3, I am not on Amazon infrastructure) originally and everything worked as expected. I'm very new to being a SysAdmin and I'm not sure what to try, how would you go about diagnosing this issue? • Hibernate mapping one-to-many problem

Hello, I am not very experienced with Hibernate and I am trying to create one-to-many mapping. Here are relevant tables: And here are my mapping files: <hibernate-mapping package="com.xorty.mailclient.server.domain"> <class name="Attachment" table="Attachment"> <id name="id"> <column name="idAttachment"></column> </id> <property name="filename"> <column name="name"></column> </property> <property name="blob"> <column name="file"></column> <type name="blob"></type> </property> <property name="mailId"> <column name="mail_idmail"></column> </property> </class> </hibernate-mapping> <hibernate-mapping> <class name="com.xorty.mailclient.server.domain.Mail" table="mail"> <id name="id" type="integer" column="idmail"></id> <property name="content"> <column name="body"></column> </property> <property name="ownerAddress"> <column name="account_address"></column> </property> <property name="title"> <column name="head"></column> </property> <set name="receivers" table="mail_has_contact" cascade="all"> <key column="mail_idmail"></key> <many-to-many column="contact_address" class="com.xorty.mailclient.client.domain.Contact"></many-to-many> </set> <list name="attachments" cascade="save-update, delete" inverse="true"> <key column="mail_idmail" not-null="true"/> <index column="fk_Attachment_mail1"></index> <one-to-many class="com.xorty.mailclient.server.domain.Attachment"/> </list> </class> </hibernate-mapping> In plain english, one mail has more attachments. • Java: Use jar library's from package manager in Linux.

- by jonescb
I'm trying to find the best way to use Java libraries that were installed by the package manager instead of just putting a copy into ${project.root}/lib My distro, Gentoo, has a package for Java libraries like jdbc-postgresql. It's installed to /usr/share/jdbc-postgresql/lib/jdbc-postgresql.jar I assume that this path may be different in Ubuntu, Fedora, or Arch. Is there any way to do like what C does? Where you just add a -lfoo, and the linker would find libfoo.so. I'm using Ant 1.8.0 and Java 1.6.0_19.

• Is it possible to scan Entities in jar files using JPA and hibernate

- by user1260109
I have the following situation : Project A - Contains a few entities and is independent Project B - Contains a few entities and is independent Project C - Contains few entities and is dependent on Project A & Project B. I am using Maven to manage dependencies and builds. When I try to test Project A and project B it goes through fine. Each of them has a persistence.xml and a separate persistent context. When I run Project C , It does map any of the entities. I have tried to use the auto-detect, specified the jar file attribute ... but nothing seems to work. It gives me a Mapping Exception saying unknown entity and wont persist or read the Entities from Projects A or B. I have posted the 3 persistence.xml files here. Also, I tried using the class attribute and using the same persistent context but it just wont find the files. Any help is really appreciated. • setting java classpath for Libre Office Base in Fedora 16

- by foampile
using Fedora 16 OS. i want to use Libre Office Base to connect to MySQL. when i set up the JDBC connection, it asks me for the driver, however, it cannot be loaded (because it doesn't see it in the classpath). does anybody know how to set the classpath for Libre Office? is there like a config util tool for that? e.g. my driver is com.mysql.jdbc.Driver situated in /usr/share/java/mysql-connector-java-5.1.17.jar. it works fine when i connect from other JDBC clients, like straight Java or Eclipse Quantum plugin. the problem is that Libre Office does not ask me for the (class)path of where it can find the driver and i do not know where and how to set it so that it becomes visible. thanks

When starting up I get this error: weblogic.common.ResourceException: Unknown Data Source jConnectLT weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourceSystemException: Cannot load driver class: redbrick.jdbc.RBWDriver Do I have to do more to make Weblogic see the RedBrick database? • How can I treat a sequence value like a generated key?

- by Jeff Knecht
Here is my situation and my constraints: I am using Java 5, JDBC, and DB2 9.5 My database table contains a BIGINT value which represents the primary key. For various reasons that are too complicated to go into here, the way I insert records into the table is by executing an insert against a VIEW; an INSTEAD OF trigger retrieves the NEXT_VAL from a SEQUENCE and performs the INSERT into the target table. I can change the triggers, but I cannot change the underlying table or the general approach of inserting through the view. I want to retrieve the sequence value from JDBC as if it were a generated key. Question: How can I get access to the value pulled from the SEQUENCE. Is there some message I can fire within DB2 to float this sequence value back to the JDBC driver?

• Oracle SQL Developer is for Oracle Database

- by thatjeffsmith
What is Oracle SQL Developer? Well, according to this document on OTN… What is SQL Developer? Date: May 2014 Oracle SQL Developer is the Oracle Database IDE. A free graphical user interface, Oracle SQL Developer allows database users and administrators to do their database tasks in fewer clicks and keystrokes. A productivity tool, SQL Developer’s main objective is to help the end user save time and maximize the return on investment in the Oracle Database technology stack. Ok, sounds pretty straightforward. Where does the confusion lie then? Some People Use SQL Developer to Connect to 3rd Party Databases SQL Developer allows you to register 3rd party database JDBC drivers. The 3rd party being a company OTHER than Oracle that makes a database product. You know who they are (SAP, MSFT, IBM, etc.) Registering 3rd party JDBC drivers in SQL Developer But maybe you don’t understand why we support these types of connections? It’s for one driving reason. To Help You Migrate to Oracle Database Yes, you get a worksheet and a tree to query and browse those systems. But, the real meat and bones there are around our migration projects and our translation scratch editor. At the end of the day, it’s there so you can move your data from say Sybase ASE to Oracle Database. On a side note, the migration technology was previously available in a separate application, the Migration Workbench. The technology and the awesome people behind it were folded into SQL Developer. So when asked what SQL Developer is, I say it’s the Database IDE and the official 3rd party database migration to Oracle platform. So anyways, when you ask for better support for another 3rd party provider, we deliver that support based on that business driver. If another 3rd party database jdbc driver is introduced, it’s because we have a lot of customers migrating from that platform. We’re not adding it to make it easier for you to work with SQL Server on your Mac. But, if you find that useful – that is cool. It’s just not why we’ve got the support for SQL Server connections in SQL Developer.

• Logic to create common Serverlet3 Login

- by user3696143
I am using Servlet3 Login to Authenticate User in website I have these Login Website Normal Login(Fill the Sigup form) Facebook Login (From Facebook Id) Twitter Login (From Twitter) And I am already authenticate user by below code HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequest(); request.login(username, password); And it is working fine for Website Login as user gave his/her EMailId and password and it store in DB. Now I modified table and added more columns to save Facebookid in same user table and also password for Facebook login FacebookId work as a Password as well. Same I will do for Twitter But I want the same Servlet3 to authenticate user. How can I achieve it? And also added context.xml file inside META-INF folder <Realm localDataSource="true" debug="99" className="org.apache.catalina.realm.JDBCRealm" connectionName="user" connectionPassword="password" connectionURL="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/ ccc" digest="md5" driverName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" roleNameCol="role_name" userCredCol="password" userNameCol="email_id" userRoleTable="users_list" userTable="user_list_view" /> Also it is possible to check which query fired by realm entry?
