  • Limit WebClient DownloadFile maximum file size

    - by Jack Juiceson
Hi everyone, In my asp .net project, my main page receives URL as a parameter I need to download internally and then process it. I know that I can use WebClient's DownloadFile method however I want to avoid malicious user from giving a url to a huge file, which will unnecessary traffic from my server. In order to avoid this, I'm looking for a solution to set maximum file size that DownloadFile will download. Thank you in advance, Jack

  • C# program that generates html pages - limit image dimensions on page

    - by Professor Mustard
I have a C# program that generates a large number of html pages, based on various bits of data and images that I have stored on the file system. The html itself works just fine, but the images can vary greatly in their dimensions. I need a way to ensure that a given image won't exceed a certain size on the page. The simplest way to accomplish this would be through the html itself... if there was some kind of "maxwidth" or "maxheight" property I could set in the html, or maybe a way to force the image to fit inside a table cell (if I used something like this, I'd have to be sure that the non-offending dimension would automatically scale with the one that's being reduced). The problem is, I don't know much about this "fine tuning" kind of stuff in html, and it seems to be a tough thing to Google around for (most of the solutions involve some sort of html specialization; I'm just using plain html). Alternatively, I could determine the width and height of each image at runtime by examining the image in C#, and then setting width/height values in the html if the image's dimensions exceed a certain value. The problem here is that is seems incredibly inefficient to load an entire image into memory, just to get its dimensions. I would need a way to "peek" at an image and just get its size (it could be bmp, jpg, gif or png). Any recommendations for either approach would be greatly appreciated.

  • System.Threading.Tasks - Limit the number of concurrent Tasks

    - by James
I have just started to look at the new "System.Threading.Tasks" goodness in .Net 4.0, and would like to know if there is any build in support for limiting the number of concurrent tasks that run at once, or if this should be manually handled. E.G: If I need to call a calculation method 100 times, is there a way to set up 100 Tasks, but have only 5 execute simultaneously? The answer may just be to create 5 tasks, call Task.WaitAny, and create a new Task as each previous one finishes. I just want to make sure I am not missing a trick if there is a better way to do this. Thanks for any help.

  • How can I exceed the 60% Memory Limit of IIS7 in ASP.NET Caching application

    - by evilknot
Pardon if this is more serverfault vs. stackoverflow. It seems to be on the border. We have an application that caches a large amount of product data for an e-commerce application using ASP.NET caching. This is a dictionary object with 65K elements, and our calculations put the object's size at ~10GB. Problem: The amount of memory the object consumes seems to be far in excess of our 10GB calculation. BIGGEST CONCERN: We can't seem to use over 60% of the 32GB in the server. What we've tried so far: In machine.config/system.web (sf doesn't allow the tags, pardon the formatting): processModel autoConfig="true" memoryLimit="80" In web.config/system.web/caching/cache (sf doesn't allow the tags, pardon the formatting): privateBytesLimit = "20000000000" (and 0, the default of course) percentagePhysicalMemoryUsedLimit = "90" Environment: Windows 2008R2 x64 32GB RAM IIS7 Nothing seems to allow us to exceed the 60% value. • UITextView Scrolling - Artificial Limit

    - by Matt Winters
I have a UITextView with a height of let's say 300. What I would like is when the typed text gets to the half way point, for the scrolling to start as if it were at the bottom of the textView. Basically I would like to programmatically set the point within the textView for scrolling to begin. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Limit the number of service calls in a RESTful application

    - by Slavo
Imagine some kind of a banking application, with a screen to create accounts. Each Account has a Currency and a Bank as a property, Currency being a separate class, as well as Bank. The code might look something like this: public class Account { public Currency Currency { get; set; } public Bank Bank { get; set; } } public class Currency { public string Code { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } public class Bank { public string Name { get; set; } public string Country { get; set; } } According to the REST design principles, each resource in the application should have its own service, and each service should have methods that map nicely to the HTTP verbs. So in our case, we have an AccountService, CurrencyService and BankService. In the screen for creating an account, we have some UI to select the bank from a list of banks, and to select a currency from a list of currencies. Imagine it is a web application, and those lists are dropdowns. This means that one dropdown is populated from the CurrencyService and one from the BankService. What this means is that when we open the screen for creating an account, we need to make two service calls to two different services. If that screen is not by itself on a page, there might be more service calls from the same page, impacting the performance. Is this normal in such an application? If not, how can it be avoided? How can the design be modified without going away from REST?

    - by Jude Lee
    Hello, there. I have an problem with my oracle stored procedure as following. codes : CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE APP.pr_ap_gateway ( aiov_req IN OUT VARCHAR2, aov_rep01 OUT VARCHAR2, aov_rep02 OUT VARCHAR2, aov_rep03 OUT VARCHAR2, aov_rep04 OUT VARCHAR2, aov_rep05 OUT VARCHAR2 ) IS v_header VARCHAR (100); v_case VARCHAR (4); v_err_no_case VARCHAR (5) := '00004'; BEGIN DBMS_OUTPUT.ENABLE (1000000); aov_rep01 := lpad(' ', 190, ' '); dbms_output.put_line('>> ['||length(aov_rep01)||']'); aov_rep01 := lpad(' ', 199, ' '); dbms_output.put_line('>> ['||length(aov_rep01)||']'); aov_rep01 := lpad(' ', 200, ' '); dbms_output.put_line('>> ['||length(aov_rep01)||']'); aov_rep01 := lpad(' ', 201, ' '); dbms_output.put_line('>> ['||length(aov_rep01)||']'); END pr_ap_gateway; / results : >> [190] >> [199] >> [200] and then error 'buffer overflow' ORA-06502: PL/SQL: ?? ?? ? ??: ??? ??? ?? ???? I know that VARCHAR2 type can contain 32KB in PL/SQL. But, in my test, VARCHAR2 parameter contains only 200 Bytes. What's wrong with this situation? This procedure will called by java daemon program. So, There's no declaration of parameters size before calling procedure. Thanks in advance for your reply.

  • How-to limit feature functionality

    - by ph0enix
Are there any standard or "best practice" ways of limiting feature functionality for a particular application? Example: We have a product with a variety of features, and our customers can pick and choose which features they would like to use, and the cost of the product varies based on which features they are actually using. In the past, we have distributed along with our software installer an encrypted license file that contains information about the customer, as well as the collection of features that they have enabled. In code, we read from the license file and enable the functionality according to the license file. This seems to work fine, except there a few disadvantages: Upgrading users with new functionality can be sort of a pain If a particular feature shows up in multiple places throughout the application, a developer might not realize that this feature should be licensed, and forget to check the license file before granting functionality to the user If the license file becomes corrupted, deleted, moved, renamed, etc. the application will not run We're getting ready to roll out a new set of features, and I was just curious what others in the community have done to tackle this problem?

  • Query string length limit in vba?

    - by datatoo
I am trying to combine multiple audit tables, and then filter the results into an excel sheet. The Union All and parameters make the query in excess of 1200 characters. It appears the string is truncated when running this. What recommendations can anyone make. I have no control over the database structure and am only reading foxpro free tables. I am permitted table creation but can write into the excel sheet connecting to the datasource Thanks for suggestions

  • How to limit traffic using multicast over localhost

    - by Shane Holloway
I'm using multicast UDP over localhost to implement a loose collection of cooperative programs running on a single machine. The following code works well on Mac OSX, Windows and linux. The flaw is that the code will receive UDP packets outside of the localhost network as well. For example, sendSock.sendto(pkt, ('192.168.0.25', 1600)) is received by my test machine when sent from another box on my network. import platform, time, socket, select addr = ("239.255.2.9", 1600) sendSock = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_DGRAM, socket.IPPROTO_UDP) sendSock.setsockopt(socket.IPPROTO_IP, socket.IP_MULTICAST_TTL, 24) sendSock.setsockopt(socket.IPPROTO_IP, socket.IP_MULTICAST_IF, socket.inet_aton("127.0.0.1")) recvSock = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_DGRAM, socket.IPPROTO_UDP) recvSock.setsockopt(socket.SOL_SOCKET, socket.SO_REUSEADDR, True) if hasattr(socket, 'SO_REUSEPORT'): recvSock.setsockopt(socket.SOL_SOCKET, socket.SO_REUSEPORT, True) recvSock.bind(("0.0.0.0", addr[1])) status = recvSock.setsockopt(socket.IPPROTO_IP, socket.IP_ADD_MEMBERSHIP, socket.inet_aton(addr[0]) + socket.inet_aton("127.0.0.1")); while 1: pkt = "Hello host: {1} time: {0}".format(time.ctime(), platform.node()) print "SEND to: {0} data: {1}".format(addr, pkt) r = sendSock.sendto(pkt, addr) while select.select([recvSock], [], [], 0)[0]: data, fromAddr = recvSock.recvfrom(1024) print "RECV from: {0} data: {1}".format(fromAddr, data) time.sleep(2) I've attempted to recvSock.bind(("127.0.0.1", addr[1])), but that prevents the socket from receiving any multicast traffic. Is there a proper way to configure recvSock to only accept multicast packets from the 127/24 network, or do I need to test the address of each received packet?

  • little oh notation as the limit of n goes to infinity

    - by Tony
Hi all, I'm just trying to understand how in little o notation this is true: f(n)/g(n) as n goes to infinity = infinity? Can someone explain that to me? I do get the idea that f(n) = o(g(n)) means that f(n) grows no faster then cg(n) for all constants c 0. I just don't get the bit in bold above.

  • Redis, it's memory limit and persistance question?

    - by Kirzilla
Hello, I'm rather new to Redis and before using it I'd like to learn some important (as for me) details on it. So.... Redis is using RAM and HDD for storing data. RAM is used as fast read/write storage, HDD is used to make this data persistant. When Redis is started it loads all data from HDD to RAM or it loads only often queried data to the RAM? What if I have 500Mb Redis storage on HDD, but I have only 100Mb or RAM for Redis. Where can I read about it? Thank you PS: Sorry for my English

  • Process Memory limit of 64-bit process

    - by prakash
I currently have a 32-bit .Net application (on x86 Windows) which require lots of memory. Recently it started throwing System.OutOfMemoryException's. So, I am planning to move it to a x64 platform as 64-bit process. So will this help with the out of memory exceptions. I was reading this article from MSDN Memory limits for Windows So, my question is if I compile a 64bit .Net application, will it have IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE set as default (As the article suggests)? i.e will I be able to take advantage of the 8GB user-mode virtual address space?

Altought it generates the same output as another accepted code ..

  • Copy protection tool to limit number of units

    - by Jonathan Harris
I have written a winform application to manage a certain type of project. I want to charge my users on a per project basis, e.g. they purchase a base version of my app to manage 3 projects for 300$ and can buy extensions for 100$ per project. Do you know of any good tools that support this type of licensing? Currently the project counter is buried in the database, but I am looking for something more reliable.

  • Limit VS2010 Intellisense Camel Case matching

    - by Gabriël
Hi, I just started with VS2010 and the feature I was really looking forward too was the new Intellisense, and the Camel casing matching in particular. But I must say I'm pretty dissapointed with the way it works and am wondering if this is just a setting, or not. When I type 'OIE' I get the following results: OrderItemBackerEntity (OIBE) OrderGarmentActionGroupItemEntity (OGAGIE) OrderItemClothingEntity (OICE) OrderItemEntity (OIE) << GOOD These indeed do match in some way, but why does it match so broad, and not only the fitting one, the last one. Are these settings, or is this by design?
