  I try to add a geom_ribbon object to my ggplot2 plot. In my data frame, I have an NA values that (I guess) may cause a problem.   I have run in to issue that days that have to be disabled are shifted to the next day.   Okay maybe i just need another set of eyes on this, but I have the following lines of code in one of my view controllers. It takes some data from a file, and populates it into an array using "\n" as a separator. I then use that array to make an NSDictionary, which is used to populate a tableview. It's very simple. However it isnt working. Here's the code: NSString *dataString = [NSString stringWithContentsOfFile:checklistPath encoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding error:NULL]; if ([dataString hasPrefix:@"\n"]) { dataString = [dataString substringFromIndex:1]; } NSArray *tempArray = [dataString componentsSeparatedByString:@"\n"]; NSLog(@"datastring:%@",dataString); NSLog(@"temp array:",tempArray); NSLog(@"%i",[tempArray count]); NSDictionary *temporaryDictionary = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject: tempArray forKey:@"User Generated Checklist"]; self.names = temporaryDictionary; NSLog(@"names:%@",names); so in the log, datastring is correct, so it's correctly pulling the data from a file. however for tempArray, i get: 2010-05-17 19:15:55.825 MyApp[7309:207] temp array: for the tempArray count i get: 2010-05-17 19:15:55.826 myApp[7309:207] 5 which is the correct number of strings in the array So i'm stumped. I have the EXACT same few lines of code in a different view controller and it works perfectly. • How to intercept touch events globally?

  I have an view which is sometimes covered by some other views. However, if the user slides the finger across the screen, I want to slide that underlying view across the screen, too. I could start making custom views for all those covering subviews and forward all kinds of touch events, but that's somewhat cumbersome. Maybe there's some kind of notification or another way that a UIView or UIControl subclass can be aware of touch events happening right now, no matter where they are. In short: I need an UIView subclass or UIControl subclass which knows about any touch events happening on the entire screen. Or at least if tht's not possible, knowing about any touch events happening above itself in the same underlying superview. Another description: There are 20 views, all reside inside the same superview. The first view is covered by 19 others. But if the user slides across the screen, that first view must slide too, so it must be aware of touch events. Is there any better solution that making all 19 views forward touch events? (yes, all 19 views respond to touch events in this example)

  I want to search a db and toast a specific column on the startup of the phone. • Finding the digit root of a number

  Study question is to find the digit root of a already provided number. The teacher provides us with the number 2638. In order to find the digit root you have to add each digit separately 2 + 6 + 3 + 8 = 19. Then you take the result 19 and add those two digits together 1 + 9 = 10. Do the same thing again 1 + 0 = 1. The digit root is 1. My first step was to use the variable total to add up the number 2638 to find the total of 19. Then I tried to use the second while loop to separate the two digits by using the % I have to try and solve the problem by using basic integer arithmetic (+, -, *, /). 1.Is it necessary and or possible to solve the problem using nested while loops? 2.Is my math correct? 3. As I wrote it here it does not run in Eclipse. • Dual head setup for Ubuntu 10.04.1 and Windows XP Pro with same hardware configuration

  Hello. I have a Dell OptiPlex 360 workstation at work, with 2 x ATI RV280 [Radeon 9200 PRO] graphics cards installed, which are attached to two identical 19" HII flat panel monitors. I'm using the open source Radeon driver with Ubuntu, and the proprietary drivers with Windows. The good news is that dual head configuration works for both OSes. The bad news is, I have to use a different hardware configuration for each OS to achieve this. Hardware config #1: Dual monitors work for Windows XP Pro like this: First display -> external VGA port Second display -> DVI input on gfx card Hardware config #2: Dual monitors work for Ubuntu 10.04.1 like this: First display -> VGA port on gfx card Second display -> DVI input on gfx card I connected up the displays according to Config #2 and booted up Windows, which resulted in a mirror image on both screens. I was unable to login, as the login box was not visible. I unplugged the VGA lead from gfx card and plugged it into the external VGA port (Config #1) - Windows dual head works again, but the VGA-connected screen is not recognised by Ubuntu and remains in standby mode. Is it possible to configure a dual head setup for Ubuntu using Config #1, or am I missing something? I tried setting up dual monitors using Config #1, this morning which didn't work.   I have a Dell OptiPlex 360 workstation at work, with 2 x ATI RV280 [Radeon 9200 PRO] graphics cards installed, which are attached to two identical 19" HII flat panel monitors. I'm using the open source Radeon driver with Ubuntu, and the proprietary drivers with Windows. The good news is that dual head configuration works for both OSes. The bad news is, I have to use a different hardware configuration for each OS to achieve this. Hardware config #1: Dual monitors work for Windows XP Pro like this: First display -> external VGA port Second display -> DVI input on gfx card Hardware config #2: Dual monitors work for Ubuntu 10.04.1 like this: First display -> VGA port on gfx card Second display -> DVI input on gfx card I connected up the displays according to Config #2 and booted up Windows, which resulted in a mirror image on both screens. I was unable to login, as the login box was not visible. I unplugged the VGA lead from gfx card and plugged it into the external VGA port (Config #1) - Windows dual head works again, but the VGA-connected screen is not recognised by Ubuntu and remains in standby mode. Is it possible to configure a dual head setup for Ubuntu using Config #1, or am I missing something? I tried setting up dual monitors using Config #1, this morning which didn't work. • SharePoint 2010, Cloud, and the Constitution

  The other evening an article on the Red Tap Chronicles caught my eye. The article written by Bob Sullivan titled "The Constitutional Issues of Cloud Computing" was very interesting in regards to the direction most of the technical world is going. We all have been inundated about utilizing cloud computing for reasons of price, availability, or even scalability; but what Bob brings up is a whole separate view of why a business might not want to move toward the cloud for services or applications. The overall point to the article was pretty simple. It all boiled down to the summation that hosting "Things" in the cloud (Email, Documents, etc…) are interpreted differently under the law regarding constitutional search and seizure than say a document or item that is kept in physical form at a business or home. Where if you physically have it stored someone would have to get a warrant to search for it or seize it, but if it is stored off in the cloud and the ISV or provider is subpoenaed for the item then they will usually give access to the information. Obviously this is a big difference in interpretation of the law and the constitution due to technology. So you might ask "Where does this fit in with SharePoint? Well the overall push for this next version of SharePoint is one that gives a business ultimate flexibility to utilize the Cloud. In one example this upcoming version gracefully lends itself to Multi Tenancy so that online or "Cloud" hosting would be possible by Service Providers. Another aspect to the upcoming version is that it has updated its ability to store content outside of the database and in a cheaper commoditized storage facility. This is called Remote Blob Storage (or RBS) which is the next evolution of External Blob Storage (or EBS). With this new functionality that business might look forward to it is extremely important for them to understand that they might be opening themselves up to laws that do not need a warrant to search or seize their information that is stored in the cloud. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the next few months. Usually the laws change slowly in comparison to technology so it might be a while until we see if it is actually constitutional to treat someone's content on the cloud differently as it would be in their possession, however until there is some type of parity that happens or more concrete laws regarding the differences be very careful about what you put in the cloud. • Trouble using Upstart to launch Redis as redis user

  I'm trying to launch redis-server as a user (called redis) via Upstart. My /etc/init/redis-server.conf looks like this: description "redis server" start on runlevel [23] stop on shutdown exec sudo -u redis /usr/local/bin/redis-server /var/lib/redis/redis.conf Looks good, right? I start redis-server using $start redis-server redis-server start/running, process 16808 $redis-cli Could not connect to Redis at 127.0.0.1:6379: Connection refused $ps ax | grep ps 168 16810 tty1 R+ 0:00 ps ax 16811 tty1 S+ 0:00 grep 168 So redis-server definitely isn't running. Let's try executing the Upstart command by hand, shall we? exec sudo -u redis /usr/local/bin/redis-server /var/lib/redis/redis.conf [16852] 19 Jun 10:37:21 # Can't chdir to './': Permission denied Connection to 10.19.2.94 closed. And then I get logged off. I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

  I've just recently moved across town. Previously, I had Dynamic DNS set up so I could remotely connect to my desktop (primarily to use TightVNC). My ISP was Comcast and I'm in the Denver, Colorado area. Currently, I'm still with Comcast and still in Denver. My router connects to the internet just fine and my Dynamic DNS record over at DynDNS did get updated with my router's current external IP address. So my router, DynDNS, and public DNS records all agree what my IP address is. However, I can't actually connect to anything from the outside world. Even though the routes aren't EXACTLY the same, that appears to be the spot that the trace route either stops or doesn't get a response. My question is, for Comcast networks (particularly in Denver), what would be the device that typically sits there? Is there anything I can do about it? That device seems to not respond to PING but does forward it along when I'm going outwards. But it looks like it eats it when the request is coming in. It's hard to prove that from these logs but I'm assuming that's the case because my router used to accept connections from the outside and I haven't changed anything on it.

• Apache error_log repeated attempts to access forum.php

  About every two seconds I am getting: [Sat Feb 19 19:00:01 2011] [error] [client 69.239.204.217] script '/var/www /html/forum.php' not found or unable to stat [Sat Feb 19 19:00:04 2011] [error] [client 69.239.204.217] File does not exist: /var/www/html/404.shtml ..in my /var/log/httpd/error_log file. Sometimes the request will be for forum_asp.php. I'm assuming its a bot trying to access insecure forum files, but I'm not so sure since it appears each is a unique IP and not just a few rouge IPs hitting it consecutively. And whois results of the ip's aren't all the classic ISP in Russia or China, they are more end user address (comcast, etc). Any insight into whats going on here would be appreciated. Also, any techniques people use to do a "live monitor" of web traffic would be appreciated. Right now I'm doing a: tail -f error_log Thanks.

  I'm attempting to use includeAllDisks in my snmpd.conf for RHEL 4 and RHEL 5 machines, but no data is being returned on the Cacti Data Query. snmpwalk isn't giving me any results. $ snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 172.19.4.140 .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.9.1.1 UCD-SNMP-MIB::dskIndex = No Such Instance currently exists at this OID If I add disk / to snmpd.conf snmpwalk gives me the right results. $ snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 172.19.4.140 .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.9.1.1 UCD-SNMP-MIB::dskIndex.1 = INTEGER: 1 I am wanting to deploy this to many systems using the same snmpd.conf (via Satellite). The disk configuration varies among systems and manually configuring snmpd.conf is not an optimal solution. Is there a way to get includeAllDisks to work? My snmpd.conf file: rocommunity public <cacti server IP> dontPrintUnits true includeAllDisks
