  • Cherrypy web application won't communicate outside localhost via VPN

    - by Geoffrey Shea
I'm trying to run a Python2.7/Cherrypy web server on Win 7 which is connected to a VPN to establish a dedicate IP address. (If I run the exact same application on Win XP connected to the VPN it works fine.) On Win 7 I tried configuring it to use port 8080, 8005, or 80 with no improvements. I turned off Windows Firewall altogether to test and there was no improvement. If I run Apache on the Win 7 machine on port 80 it works fine so I'm pretty sure it's not the VPN service or router. If I go to WhatismyIP.com it shows that I have the IP address being provided by the VPN. Here is the Python code, but I suspect the problem is the network configuration: import cherrypy class HelloWorld: def index(self): return "Hello world!3" index.exposed = True cherrypy.root = HelloWorld() cherrypy.config.update({"global":{ "server.environment": "production", "server.socketPort": 8005 } }) cherrypy.server.start() This will return a web page if I go to localhost:8005, but not if I go to the VPN IP address:8005 from another machine. As I said, if I run Apache on the Win 7 machine on port 80 I can see it at localhost:80 AND at the VPN IP address:80 from another machine. Thanks for any light you can shed! Geoffrey

  • MySQL Not Turning On

    - by Shalin Shah
I have an amazon ec2 instance running on the Amazon Linux AMI and its a micro instance. I wanted to install Django onto my server so I entered these commands wget http://www.mlsite.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/go wget http://www.mlsite.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/django.conf chmod 744 go ./go So after I was done, I ran sudo service httpd restart and sudo service mysqld restart and This is what came up for mysqld: Stopping mysqld: [ OK ] MySQL Daemon failed to start. Starting mysqld: [FAILED] So I deleted the django files /usr/local/python2.6.8/site-packages/django_registration.egg and I tried finding the error and I found out that in my /etc/my.cnf for the socket, it said socket=/var/lock/subsys/mysql.sock so I went to /var/lock/subsys/ and there was no mysql.sock. I tried creating one using vim but it still didn't work. Then I checked the error log and it said Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) So I am pretty much lost right now. I know it has something to do with mysql.sock If you might know a reason why this was caused could you please let me know? I have a wordpress site on my server, so i kind of need MySQL to work. Thanks!

  • ImportError: No module named QtWebKit

    - by Hallik
I am on centos5. I installed python26 source with a make altinstall. Then I did a: yum install qt4 yum install qt4-devel yum install qt4-doc From riverbankcomputing.co.uk I downloaded the source for sip 4.10.2, compiled and installed fine. Then from the same site I downloaded and compiled from source PyQt-x11-4.7.3 Both installs were using the python26 version (/usr/local/bin/python2.6). So configure.py, make, and make install worked with no errors. Finally, I tried to run this script, but got the error in the subject of this post: import sys import signal from PyQt4.QtCore import * from PyQt4.QtGui import * from PyQt4.QtWebKit import QWebPage def onLoadFinished(result): if not result: print "Request failed" sys.exit(1) #screen = QtGui.QDesktopWidget().screenGeometry() size = webpage.mainFrame().contentsSize() # Set the size of the (virtual) browser window webpage.setViewportSize(webpage.mainFrame().contentsSize()) # Paint this frame into an image image = QImage(webpage.viewportSize(), QImage.Format_ARGB32) painter = QPainter(image) webpage.mainFrame().render(painter) painter.end() image.save("output2.png") sys.exit(0) app = QApplication(sys.argv) signal.signal(signal.SIGINT, signal.SIG_DFL) webpage = QWebPage() webpage.connect(webpage, SIGNAL("loadFinished(bool)"), onLoadFinished) webpage.mainFrame().load(QUrl("http://www.google.com")) sys.exit(app.exec_()) Even in the beginning of the configure for pyqt4, I saw it say QtWebKit should be installed, but apparently it's not? What's going on? I just did a find, and it looks like it wasn't installed. What are my options? • Using M2Crypto to save and load X509 certs in pem files

    - by Brock Pytlik
    I would expect that if I have a X509 cert as an object in memory, saved it as a pem file, then loaded it back in, I would end up with the same cert I started with. This seems not to be the case however. Let's call the original cert A, and the cert loaded from the pem file B. A.as_text() is identical to B.as_text(), but A.as_pem() differs from B.as_pem(). To say the least, I'm confused by this. As a side note, if A has been signed by another entity C, then A will verify against C's cert, but B will not. I've put together a tiny sample program to demonstrate what I'm seeing. When I run this, the second RuntimeError is raised. Thanks, Brock #!/usr/bin/python2.6 import M2Crypto as m2 import time cur_time = m2.ASN1.ASN1_UTCTIME() cur_time.set_time(int(time.time()) - 60*60*24) expire_time = m2.ASN1.ASN1_UTCTIME() # Expire certs in 1 hour. expire_time.set_time(int(time.time()) + 60 * 60 * 24) cs_rsa = m2.RSA.gen_key(1024, 65537, lambda: None) cs_pk = m2.EVP.PKey() cs_pk.assign_rsa(cs_rsa) cs_cert = m2.X509.X509() # These two seem the minimum necessary to make the as_text function call work # at all cs_cert.set_not_before(cur_time) cs_cert.set_not_after(expire_time) # This seems necessary to fill out the complete cert without errors. cs_cert.set_pubkey(cs_pk) # I've tried with the following set lines commented out and not commented. cs_name = m2.X509.X509_Name() cs_name.C = "US" cs_name.ST = "CA" cs_name.OU = "Fake Org CA 1" cs_name.CN = "www.fakeorg.dex" cs_name.Email = "[email protected]" cs_cert.set_subject(cs_name) cs_cert.set_issuer_name(cs_name) cs_cert.sign(cs_pk, md="sha256") orig_text = cs_cert.as_text() orig_pem = cs_cert.as_pem() print "orig_text:\n%s" % orig_text cs_cert.save_pem("/tmp/foo") tcs = m2.X509.load_cert("/tmp/foo") tcs_text = tcs.as_text() tcs_pem = tcs.as_pem() if orig_text != tcs_text: raise RuntimeError( "Texts were different.\nOrig:\n%s\nAfter load:\n%s" % (orig_text, tcs_text)) if orig_pem != tcs_pem: raise RuntimeError( "Pems were different.\nOrig:\n%s\nAfter load:\n%s" % (orig_pem, tcs_pem))

I have a Kubuntu 10.04 VM image and am trying to install ReviewBoard by following The Linux Installation Wiki. • Python libusb pyusb "mach-o, but wrong architecture"

    - by Jon
I am having some trouble with the pyusb module. I have narrowed down the problem to a single line, and have created a small example script to replicate the error. #!/usr/bin/env python """ This module was created to isolate the problem in the pyusb package. Operating system: Mac OS 10.6.3 Python Version: 2.6.4 libusb 1.0.8 has been successfully installed using: sudo port install libusb I have also tried modifying /opt/local/etc/macports/macports.conf to force the i386 architecture instead of x86_64. I have tried building the libusb module (directly from source AND through macports) for 32-bit (i386) instead of x86_64 (default for OS 10.6), but I receive the same error. • Python interface to PayPal - urllib.urlencode non-ASCII characters failing

    - by krys
I am trying to implement PayPal IPN functionality. The basic protocol is as such: The client is redirected from my site to PayPal's site to complete payment. He logs into his account, authorizes payment. PayPal calls a page on my server passing in details as POST. Details include a person's name, address, and payment info etc. I need to call a URL on PayPal's site internally from my processing page passing back all the params that were passed in abovem and an additional one called 'cmd' with a value of '_notify-validate'. When I try to urllib.urlencode the params which PayPal has sent to me, I get a: While calling send_response_to_paypal. Traceback (most recent call last): File "<snip>/account/paypal/views.py", line 108, in process_paypal_ipn verify_result = send_response_to_paypal(params) File "<snip>/account/paypal/views.py", line 41, in send_response_to_paypal params = urllib.urlencode(params) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/urllib.py", line 1261, in urlencode v = quote_plus(str(v)) UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\ufffd' in position 9: ordinal not in range(128) I understand that urlencode does ASCII encoding, and in certain cases, a user's contact info can contain non-ASCII characters. This is understandable. My question is, how do I encode non-ASCII characters for POSTing to a URL using urllib2.urlopen(req) (or other method) Details: I read the params in PayPal's original request as follows (the GET is for testing): def read_ipn_params(request): if request.POST: params= request.POST.copy() if "ipn_auth" in request.GET: params["ipn_auth"]=request.GET["ipn_auth"] return params else: return request.GET.copy() The code I use for sending back the request to PayPal from the processing page is: def send_response_to_paypal(params): params['cmd']='_notify-validate' params = urllib.urlencode(params) req = urllib2.Request(PAYPAL_API_WEBSITE, params) req.add_header("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded") response = urllib2.urlopen(req) status = response.read() if not status == "VERIFIED": logging.warn("PayPal cannot verify IPN responses: " + status) return False return True Obviously, the problem only arises if someone's name or address or other field used for the PayPal payment does not fall into the ASCII range.

  • Converting string to datetime object in python

    - by Gussi
    Given this string: "Fri, 09 Apr 2010 14:10:50 +0000" how does one convert it to a datetime object? After doing some reading I feel like this should work, but it doesn't... >>> from datetime import datetime >>> >>> str = 'Fri, 09 Apr 2010 14:10:50 +0000' >>> fmt = '%a, %d %b %Y %H:%M:%S %z' >>> datetime.strptime(str, fmt) Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "/usr/lib64/python2.6/_strptime.py", line 317, in _strptime (bad_directive, format)) ValueError: 'z' is a bad directive in format '%a, %d %b %Y %H:%M:%S %z' It should be noted that this works without a problem >>> from datetime import datetime >>> >>> str = 'Fri, 09 Apr 2010 14:10:50' >>> fmt = '%a, %d %b %Y %H:%M:%S' >>> datetime.strptime(str, fmt) datetime.datetime(2010, 4, 9, 14, 10, 50) But I'm stuck with "Fri, 09 Apr 2010 14:10:50 +0000", I would prefer to convert exactly that without changing (or slicing) that string in any way.

  • IntegrityError: foreign key violation upon delete

    - by Lukasz Korzybski
I have Order and Shipment model. Shipment has a foreign key to Order. class Order(...): ... class Shipment() order = m.ForeignKey('Order') ... Now in one of my views I want do delete order object along with all related objects. So I invoke order.delete(). I have Django 1.0.4, PostgreSQL 8.4 and I use transaction middleware, so whole request is enclosed in single transaction. The problem is that upon order.delete() I get: ... File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/backends/__init__.py", line 28, in _commit return self.connection.commit() IntegrityError: update or delete on table "main_order" violates foreign key constraint "main_shipment_order_id_fkey" on table "main_shipment" DETAIL: Key (id)=(45) is still referenced from table "main_shipment". I checked in connection.queries that proper queries are executed in proper order. First shipment is deleted, after that django executes delete on order row: {'time': '0.000', 'sql': 'DELETE FROM "main_shipment" WHERE "id" IN (17)'}, {'time': '0.000', 'sql': 'DELETE FROM "main_order" WHERE "id" IN (45)'} Foreign key have ON DELETE NO ACTION (default) and is initially deferred. I don't know why I get foreign key constraint violation. I also tried to register pre_delete signal and manually delete shipment objects before delete on order is called, but it resulted in the same error. I can change ON DELETE behaviour for this key in Postgres but it would be just a hack, I wonder if anyone has a better idea what's going on here. There is also a small detail, my Order model inherits from Cart model, so it actually doesn't have id field but cart_ptr_id and after DELETE on order is executed there is also DELETE on cart, but it seems unrelated? to the shipment-order problem so I simplified it in the example.

  • Python: Catching / blocking SIGINT during system call

    - by danben
I've written a web crawler that I'd like to be able to stop via the keyboard. I don't want the program to die when I interrupt it; it needs to flush its data to disk first. I also don't want to catch KeyboardInterruptedException, because the persistent data could be in an inconsistent state. My current solution is to define a signal handler that catches SIGINT and sets a flag; each iteration of the main loop checks this flag before processing the next url. However, I've found that if the system happens to be executing socket.recv() when I send the interrupt, I get this: ^C Interrupted; stopping... // indicates my interrupt handler ran Traceback (most recent call last): File "crawler_test.py", line 154, in <module> main() ... File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/socket.py", line 397, in readline data = recv(1) socket.error: [Errno 4] Interrupted system call and the process exits completely. Why does this happen? Is there a way I can prevent the interrupt from affecting the system call?

  • CentOS: make python 2.6 see django

    - by NP
In a harrowing attempt to get mod_wsgi to run on CentOS 5.4, I've added python 2.6 as an optional library following the instructions here. The configuration seems fine except that when trying to ping the server the Apache log prints this error: mod_wsgi (pid=20033, process='otalo', application='127.0.0.1|'): Loading WSGI script '...django.wsgi'. [Sat Mar 27 16:11:45 2010] [error] [client 171.66.52.218] mod_wsgi (pid=20033): Target WSGI script '...django.wsgi' cannot be loaded as Python module. However, my default python 2.4 installation (still working fine) is able to import successfully. How do I point python 2.6 to django? Thanks in advance.

  • How to convert from hex-encoded string to a "human readable" string?

    - by John Jensen
I'm using the Net-SNMP bindings for python and I'm attempting to grab an ARP cache from a Brocade switch. Here's what my code looks like: #!/usr/bin/env python import netsnmp def get_arp(): oid = netsnmp.VarList(netsnmp.Varbind('ipNetToMediaPhysAddress')) res = netsnmp.snmpwalk(oid, Version=2, DestHost='10.0.1.243', Community='public') return res arp_table = get_arp() print arp_table The SNMP code itself is working fine. Output from snmpwalk looks like this: <snip> IP-MIB::ipNetToMediaPhysAddress.128.10.200.6.158 = STRING: 0:1b:ed:a3:ec:c1 IP-MIB::ipNetToMediaPhysAddress.129.10.200.6.162 = STRING: 0:1b:ed:a4:ac:c1 IP-MIB::ipNetToMediaPhysAddress.130.10.200.6.166 = STRING: 0:1b:ed:38:24:1 IP-MIB::ipNetToMediaPhysAddress.131.10.200.6.170 = STRING: 74:8e:f8:62:84:1 </snip> But my output from the python script yields a tuple of hex-encoded strings that looks like this: ('\x00$8C\x98\xc1', '\x00\x1b\xed;_A', '\x00\x1b\xed\xb4\x8f\x81', '\x00$86\x15\x81', '\x00$8C\x98\x81', '\x00\x1b\xed\x9f\xadA', ...etc) I've spent some time googling and came across the struct module and the .decode("hex") string method, but the .decode("hex") method doesn't seem to work: Python 2.7.3 (default, Apr 10 2013, 06:20:15) [GCC 4.6.3] on linux2 Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> hexstring = '\x00$8C\x98\xc1' >>> newstring = hexstring.decode("hex") Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "/usr/lib/python2.7/encodings/hex_codec.py", line 42, in hex_decode output = binascii.a2b_hex(input) TypeError: Non-hexadecimal digit found >>> And the documentation for struct is a bit over my head.

  • Catching / blocking SIGINT during system call

  • PySide Qt script doesn't launch from Spyder but works from shell

    - by Maxim Zaslavsky
I have a weird bug in my project that uses PySide for its Qt GUI, and in response I'm trying to test with simpler code that sets up the environment. Here is the code I am testing with: http://stackoverflow.com/a/6906552/130164 When I launch that from my shell (python test.py), it works perfectly. However, when I run that script in Spyder, I get the following error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/test/Desktop/test/test.py", line 31, in <module> app = QtGui.QApplication(sys.argv) RuntimeError: A QApplication instance already exists. If it helps, I also get the following warning: /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/matplotlib/__init__.py:835: UserWarning: This call to matplotlib.use() has no effect because the the backend has already been chosen; matplotlib.use() must be called *before* pylab, matplotlib.pyplot, or matplotlib.backends is imported for the first time. Why does that code work when launched from my shell but not from Spyder? Update: Mata answered that the problem happens because Spyder uses Qt, which makes sense. For now, I've set up execution in Spyder using the "Execute in an external system terminal" option, which doesn't cause errors but doesn't allow debugging, either. Does Spyder have any built-in workarounds to this?

  • parse xml with elementtree, custom sorting

    - by microspace
I want to parse xml file in utf-8 and sort it by some field. Soring is made by custom alphabet (s1 from sourcecode). History of question is here: sorting of list containing utf-8 charachters. I've found how to sort xml here. Sorting work correctly, the problem is with elementtree, I must admit that it doesn't work on python3 Here is source code: #!/usr/bin/env python # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- #import xml.etree.ElementTree as ET # Python 2.5 import elementtree.ElementTree as ET s1='aáàAâÂbBcCçÇdDeéEfFgGgGhHiIîÎíiiIjJkKlLmMnNóoOöÖpPqQrRsSsStTuUûúÛüÜvVwWxXyYzZ' s2='11111122334455666aabbccddeeeeeeffgghhiijjkklllllmmnnooppqqrrsssssttuuvvwwxxyy' trans = str.maketrans(s1, s2) def unikey(seq): return seq[0].translate(trans) tree = ET.parse("tosort.xml") container = tree.find("entries") data = [] for elem in container: keyd = elem.findtext("k") data.append((keyd, elem)) print (data) data.sort(key=unikey) print (data) container[:] = [item[-1] for item in data] tree.write("sorted.xml", encoding="utf-8") Here are instructions to import elementtree module. When I import module this way :import xml.etree.ElementTree as ET, I get a message: Traceback (most recent call last): File "pcs.py", line 19, in <module> container[:] = [item[-1] for item in data] File "/usr/lib/python3.1/xml/etree/ElementTree.py", line 210, in __setitem__ assert iselement(element) AssertionError When I use this method to import: import elementtree.ElementTree as ET, I get this message: Traceback (most recent call last): File "pcs.py", line 4, in <module> import elementtree.ElementTree as ET File "/usr/local/lib/python3.1/dist-packages/elementtree/ElementTree.py", line 794, in <module> _escape = re.compile(eval(r'u"[&<>\"\u0080-\uffff]+"')) File "<string>", line 1 u"[&<>\"\u0080-\uffff]+" ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax I use Python 3.1.3 (r313:86834, Nov 28 2010, 11:28:10). • Am I mocking this helper function right in my Django test?

    - by CppLearner
lib.py from django.core.urlresolvers import reverse def render_reverse(f, kwargs): """ kwargs is a dictionary, usually of the form {'args': [cbid]} """ return reverse(f, **kwargs) tests.py from lib import render_reverse, print_ls class LibTest(unittest.TestCase): def test_render_reverse_is_correct(self): #with patch('webclient.apps.codebundles.lib.reverse') as mock_reverse: with patch('django.core.urlresolvers.reverse') as mock_reverse: from lib import render_reverse mock_f = MagicMock(name='f', return_value='dummy_views') mock_kwargs = MagicMock(name='kwargs',return_value={'args':['123']}) mock_reverse.return_value = '/natrium/cb/details/123' response = render_reverse(mock_f(), mock_kwargs()) self.assertTrue('/natrium/cb/details/' in response) But instead, I get File "/var/lib/graphyte-webclient/graphyte-webenv/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/core/urlresolvers.py", line 296, in reverse "arguments '%s' not found." % (lookup_view_s, args, kwargs)) NoReverseMatch: Reverse for 'dummy_readfile' with arguments '('123',)' and keyword arguments '{}' not found. Why is it calling reverse instead of my mock_reverse (it is looking up my urls.py!!) The author of Mock library Michael Foord did a video cast here (around 9:17), and in the example he passed the mock object request to the view function index. Furthermore, he patched POll and assigned an expected return value. Isn't that what I am doing here? I patched reverse? Thanks.

  • Django IntegrityError: foreign key violation upon delete
