It works
var tip = "<p>Most computers will open PDF documents automatically, but you may need to download <a title='Link to Adobe website-opens in a new window'";
tip +=" href='http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html' target='_blank'>Adobe Reader</a>.</p>";

var tip = "<p class="adobe-reader-download">Most computers will open PDF documents automatically, but you may need to download <a title='Link to Adobe website-opens in a new window'";
tip +=" href='http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html' target='_blank'>Adobe Reader</a>.</p>";
if($("div#maincontent a[href*='.pdf']").length>0){
$("div#maincontent").children(":last-child").after(tip);
for example. if i want to quickly wrap anything by this in once.
<div class="one">
<div class="two">
anything can be here - content, other html tag etc.
</div>
</div>
Should we use <label> for every input? , even for submit button and keep hidden thorough css if we don't want to show label.
or no need of label for submit button?
.hide {display:none}
<fieldset>
<legend>Search</legend>
<label for="Search">Search...</label>
<input value="" id="Search" name="Search">
<label for="Submit" class="hide">Submit</label>
<input type="submit" value="Go!" name="submit" id="submit">
</fieldset>
or we should use like this (no label for submit)
<fieldset>
<legend>Search</legend>
<label for="Search">Search...</label>
<input value="" id="Search" name="Search">
<input type="submit" value="Go!" name="submit" >
</fieldset>
Hey Everyone,
I've been trying to code this page for a while, but my biggest problem is that I can't seem to get the photos perfectly positioned. For some reason, there is a small bottom padding in each <td>which is messing things up.
Here is the table code:
<table>
<tr>
<td rowspan="2" style="height:353px;"><img src="danoconnor/img/photography/farm.jpg" height="353" width="470" alt="Farm" /></td>
<td><img src="danoconnor/img/photography/paragliding.jpg" height="190" width="254" alt="Paraglider" /></td>
<td rowspan="2"><img src="danoconnor/img/photography/cristo.jpg" height="353" width="230" alt="Cristo Redentor" /></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><img src="danoconnor/img/photography/u2.jpg" height="154" width="254" alt="U2 at Fordham University" /></td>
</tr>
</table>
My question is: how can I make the photogrid look like this?
Thanks!
I am using an XSL transformation on an xml file to create an xml document. The problem i am running into is that when i go to view the generated source (the transformed source) i can't see the DOCTYPE attribute of the html so i don't know if its being emitted properly.
Is there any way to view the doctype in this way?
I'm pretty new to web development and I am working on our company website. I've thus far been doing all the work in notepad++ but i was wondering if there was something a little more friendly to the eyes for layout and WYSIWYG formatting.
the catch is i have basically no budget so anything like dreamweaver (which i heard is not the best application for tis anyway ) is out.
any suggestions or hints would be greatly appreciated
I have an HTML form that needs multiple submit buttons, like this:
<input type="submit" name="foo" value="1"/>
<input type="submit" name="foo" value="2"/>
<input type="submit" name="foo" value="3"/>
The problem is that I want it to display on the button something other than what is in the value attribute (in the example above: 1, 2, 3). For example, I want to show "Bar" for the button with value="1". Is this possible?
I've considered using the <button> tag, like this:
<button name="foo" value="1">Bar</button>
The problem with using <button> (from w3schools):
If you use the element in an HTML form, different browsers
may submit different values. Internet Explorer, prior version 9, will
submit the text between the and tags, while other
browsers will submit the content of the value attribute. Use the
element to create buttons in an HTML form.
Thoughts?
sifr3 text doesn't load many time first time on FF 3.5? I haven't checked on other browser.
If i reload page again then it loads properly.
this is my code
sIFR.replace(futura, {
selector: '#Homepage h1', ratios: [6, 1.24, 9, 1.13, 10, 1.15, 16, 1.09, 21, 1.06, 22, 1.07, 25, 1.04, 26, 1.06, 29, 1.03, 30, 1.05, 31, 1.03, 32, 1.05, 41, 1.04, 58, 1.03, 97, 1.02, 1.01],
wmode: 'transparent',
css: '.sIFR-root { background-color: none; color: #ffffff; }'
});
I was just trying first time how ratio calculation works of sIFR 3 using sifr-debug.
I'm using.
<script src="sifr.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="sifr-debug.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

I have a form input, and the label spans multiple lines, and I want the corresponding checkbox to appear at the bottom (last line of the label element).
Here is what I was playing with
CSS
.standard-form {
width: 500px;
border: 1px solid red;
}
.standard-form .input-row {
overflow: hidden;
margin-bottom: 0.8em;
}
.standard-form label {
width: 25%;
float: left;
}
.standard-form .input-container {
width: 70%;
float: right;
}
.standard-form .checkbox .input-container {
display: table-cell;
height: 100%;
vertical-align: text-bottom;
}
HTML
<form class="standard-form">
<div class="input-row checkbox" id="permission">
<label for="input-permission">
Do I hereby grant you permission to do whatever tasks are neccessary to achieve an ideal outcome? </label>
<div class="input-container">
<input type="checkbox" id="input-permission" name="permission" value="true" /> </div>
</div>
</form>
It is also online at JSbin.
Is there any way to do this? I notice that div.input-container isn't expanding, which is the old multi column problem with CSS.
I thought I could get this going with display: table-cell and vertical-align: bottom but I haven't been able to do it yet. I don't mind that IE6/7 won't render it correctly.
My one of web designer friend still making sites with table but he use css very nicely and I also use css nicely but with <div> and i face cross browser problem in layout more than my friend.
and i given some reason to my friend about cons of <table>. read my whole discussion with friend?
I - you site will be problematic with screen reader
My friend - OK, but i never got any call from any client regarding this.
I - you will devote more time to make any changes in layout, if changes comes from client
My friend - I don't think so, but if it is then show me how can i save time with <div>?
I - your sites will not work well with search engine.
My friend - it's not true. I've made many site and no problem with any site or client regarding this
I - layout is old way, non w3c and non standard way.
My friend - what is old and what is new, Who is W3C i don't know, What is standard? Whatever i make works in all browsers, it's enough for me and my client will not pay for standard and W3C guidelines rules
I - Your site will not work in mobile browsers
My friend - No problem for me, my client don't care about mobile phone
I - Your sites are not accessible?
My Friend - What do u mean not accessible? Whatever i make works in all browsers. my any client never asked about accessibility
I - You will not get more work in future, with table?
My friend - OK, no problem when clients will not accept site with table then i will learn about div based layouts in future.
My questions?
Is it still true, to make cross
browser layouts for desktop browsers
using table+css is easier then
div+css?
What is the benefit for developer to
use DIV+CSS layout in place of
<table> layouts if client would not
mind if i use ?
Are these suggestions good to give for a successful training session?
Practice time should be always given immediate after technical training?
usually after receiving any technical session about any new thing we do routine work.
If we don't do practice just after training, later when we do any work related to that training then we feel we need training again. So if we are getting training today and will not use it for some period of time (15 -30 -60 days) then the training is of no use, as it is at the wrong time. I.e. We will forget many things
Any other suggestions which i should give? I'm trainee not trainer. What suggestion should i give to trainer/organizer?
In how many ways we can give color info in X/HTML, css?
I know some

And what is the means of web-safe colors?
This is likely a very simple question, but how do I get text in SVG to stretch to fit its container?
I don't care if it looks ugly from being stretched too long or high, but it needs to fits its container and be as big as possible.
Thanks
I have an iframe containing a form. I want the form to point to a new window when the user submits it. Basically, the following code should do the trick:
<?php var_dump($_POST); ?>
<form method="post" action="test_post_to_blank.php" target="_blank">
<input type="text" name="test" value="test" />
<input type="submit" />
</form>
The problem is that in IE6 a new window is opened with empty POST data. Is there any other way I can get the job done? This does not occur in newer versions of IE.
Thanks in advance ;).
Is it not necessary to keep IE conditional css file validated?
<!--[if IE]>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="ie-styles.css" media="screen" type="text/css" />
<![endif]-->
I am developing a jQtouch app and each request done via ajax creates a new div in the document for the loaded content. Only a single div is shown at any one time.
How many div's can I have before the app starts getting unresponsive and slow?
Anyone have any ideas on this?
