• How do I limit access to a subdomain?

  I can set up the following: mydomain.com (ex m.com) CNAME points to: mysubdomain.hostingprovider.com (ex s1.h.com) subdomain.mydomain.com (ex s2.m.com) CNAME points to: www.anotherdomain.com (ex a.com) There are files in www.anotherdomain.com/mysubfolder/ that I want mydomain.com to be able to access through the subdomain, but I don't want any of the files on the subdomain to be accessable directly. I have full direct access (ftp) to mydomain.com, but I have opono direct access to www.anotherdomain.com (online booking & shopping cart). Is there anyway to make it so access to subdomain.mydomain.com can only be accessed by mydomain.com?

• Using Web Flow 2 in JSF application

  Hi, I created a JSF cart application which runs just fine. I am using 'redirect' to fix the problem with refresh. The problem is when there is multiple page flow logic like if you haven't signed up you need to sign up or create an account, and once you do that you need to be redirected back to where you were when you were asked to sign up in the first place. So my goal is to use Web Flow 2 in order to make navigation rules easier to code. I have been working on them separately but I don't know how to merge so that Web Flow can handle navigation instead. Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks.

  I'd really like to start including shopping cart functionality in my projects. At first im content relying on paypal links, but I really want to be learning about specific security threats and how to combat them. Eventually I want to feel comfortable receiving and sending customer credit card details for ecommerce. Obviously this is a common thing on the net but most tutorials and resources are content to say "it's every web developers responsibility to consider security, but we're not going to cover that here/today/ever." so, my question is, where is a good place to learn? And once I've learned, how do I stay abreast of new vulnerabilities as the web evolves?

• Devise and cancan gems: has_many association

  I use devise and cancan gems and have simple model association: user has_many subscriptions, subscription belongs_to :user. Have following SubscriptionsController: class SubscriptionsController < ApplicationController load_and_authorize_resource :user load_and_authorize_resource :subscription, through: :user before_filter :authenticate_user! def index @subscriptions = @user.subscriptions.paginate(:page => params[:page]).order(:created_at) end #other actions end And Cancan Ability.rb: class Ability include CanCan::Ability def initialize(user) user ||=User.new can [:index, :show], [Edition, Kind] if user.admin? can :manage, :all elsif user.id can [:read, :create, :destroy, :pay], Subscription, user_id: user.id can [:delete_from_cart, :add_to_cart, :cart], User, id: user.id end end end The problem is that i cannot use subscriptions actions as a user but can as a admin. And have no problems with UsersController. When i delete following lines from SubscriptionsController: load_and_authorize_resource :user load_and_authorize_resource :subscription, through: :user before_filter :authenticate_user! Have no problems at all. So the issue in these lines or in Ability.rb. Any suggestions?

  I'm posting a form with javascript and it seems to be changing a value that I've entered in. Html: <% using (Html.BeginForm("ChangeTime", "Cart", new { cartItemId = cartItem.CartItemID }, FormMethod.Post, null)) { %> <%= Html.TextBox("startTime")%> <input type="submit" value="Update" /> <% } %> JQuery: <script type="text/javascript"> $('#startTime').change(function() { $(this).parent('form').submit(); }); </script> When I put a time in the textbox (05/05/2010 06:08 am), the form is submitted, however the string as it comes through, is 05/05/2010 - with the time part removed. I see this in fiddler. If get rid of the javascript and click the button above, it goes through how it should. Why is JQuery changing my text?

• Would it be faster to use CMS for building the first site in ASP.NET?

  I need an opinion and advise from experienced ASP.NET people, what way to go. Assuming that a developer has some practical background with HTML/JavaScript/PHP on one side and some .NET/C#/WPF experience on the other side. No previous hands on experience with ASP.NET - only theory and some read books on the topic. The task is to build ASP.NET web site with User Managment functionality (user authentication, user account, user buying history, user points and so on) and E-commerce functionality with shopping cart, checkout and all needed for this. Is it worth, i.e. will it be faster, more reliable and secure in the result to use a ASP.NET CMS system (for example Sitefinity from Telerik as declared developer friendly) to build such first site? In what case the learning curve will be more steep and it will take more time to achieve similar results? Notes to take into consideration: 1) Price of the CMS matters not very much 2) E-commerce module should be written from scratch in any case (and integrated in case of using CMS) due to very specific requirements

• Use LINQ to count the number of combinations existing in two lists

  I'm trying to create a LINQ query (or queries) that count the total number of occurences of a combinations of items in one list that exist in a different list. For example, take the following lists: CartItems DiscountItems ========= ============= AAA AAA AAA BBB AAA BBB BBB CCC CCC DDD The result of the query operation should be 2 since I can find two combinations of AAA and BBB (from DiscountItems) within the contents of CartItems. My thinking in approaching the query is to join the lists together to shorten CartItems to only include items from DiscountItems. The solution would be to find the CartItem in the resulting query that occurs the least amount of times, thus indicating how many combinations of items exist in CartItems. How can this be done? Here's the query I already have, but it's not working. query results in an enumeration with 100 items, far more than I expected.   I have an object elem that I'd like to pass to the remove_tag_from_cart method. Here is my attempt: -elem = @tags[1] #{elem.name}#{link_to_remote image_tag('x.png'), :url => {:controller => 'questions', :action => 'remove_tag_from_cart'}, :with => {:tag_to_remove => :elem}} The :with clause isn't working correctly. The image does not even show up. If I take out the :with clause, then the link properly shows up and calls the method correctly, but I need the elem object in order to remove it from the cart. Suggestions?

  It seems like it should be a simple concept. I need a vertical list. This list has an image with a checkbox and pathname of that image underneath it. The user should be able to check the checkboxes of the images they want to appear in their "shopping cart". The images, checkbox label, and list are populated by an XmlList. How can I do this in Flex 3.5 and Actionscript and have a button that when clicked, display a list of the checked items??

• How to? - part of the site over ssl, other part not

  What is common practice for coding web applications where part of the site has to be secured (e.g. checkout section) and part not necessarily, lets say homepage. As far as I know sharing sessions in between http and https parts of the site is not easily possible (or is it?). What would be common approach if I wanted to display on http page like homepage, shopping cart data (items) that users ordered on https pages? How those two parts of the site would communicate if necessary? Also isn't it security flaw in popular shopping carts as it seems that many of these have only checkout pages secured (ssl) and the rest not? I'm using php if it makes any difference.

I have a tooltip that shows the picture of the product when you hover the product name, for some reason it shows above the name, but under other elements, like lines and other product names. JSFiddle of the tooltip code here. And also how can I get the tooltip to appear in the middle? I tried right:50%; but guess that's not right. Thanks.

• ideas for simple objects for day to day web-dev use?

  Dang-I know this is a subjective question so will probably get booted off/locked, but I'll try anyway, because I don't know where else to ask (feel free to point me to a better place to ask this!) I'm just wrapping my head around oop with PHP, but I'm still not using frameworks or anything. I'd like to create several small simple objects that I could use in my own websites to better get a feel for them. Can anyone recommend a list or a resource that could point me to say 10 day-to-day objects that people would use in basic websites? The reason I'm asking is because I'm confusing myself a bit. For example, I was thinking of a "database connection" object, but then I'm just thinking that is just a function, and not really an "object"??   I am using Zend_Db to insert some data inside a transaction. My function starts a transaction and then calls another method that also attempts to start a transaction and of course fails(I am using MySQL5). So, the question is - how do I detect that transaction has already been started?   Hi all, I have been working on a shopping cart that the user can add/remove order items as they please and am returning an updated sub-total via a webservice using jQuery $.ajax Here is how I am calling the webservice and setting the sub-total with the response. //perform the ajax call $.ajax({ url: p, data: '{' + s + '}', success: function(sTotal) { //order was updated: set span to new sub-total $("#cartRow" + orderID).find(".subTotal").text(sTotal); }, failure: function() { //if the orer was not saved //console.log('Error: Order not deleted'); } }); The response I am getting seems perfectly fine: {"d":"128.00"} When I display the total on the page it displays as 128 rather than 128.00 I am fully sure it is something very simple and silly but I am so deep into it now I need someone with a fresh brain to help me out!!   Hi, i simply can't find a solution to my problem! The quantity field worked as it should. After a few months of programming on the whole shop, i wanted to test the quantity field and recognized that it doesn't function. I only can add one product to the cart although i typed “3” in the quantity field. I didn’t change anything in product/view.phtml and addtocart.phtml. Don't know where i have to search for this error. Maybe someone can give me a tip... greets max
