• How to pass string file path as HttpPostedfile to fileupload control?

  Hi friends, I have got little tricky issue i.e I am using API of a product which has few methods for uploading image. The UI part of the product has one file upload control which takes files and convert that into binary and save it to database. In the coding part they are using one method where they send this fileupload.postedfile as one of the input parameter to the method. Now my requirement is, I have a directory where there are hundred of files which i have to send each file one by after another to this method as a input. Now i wish to know how to pass a file name as "HttpPostedFile" to that method as a parameter. I have no other option other than using that API (our clients requirement). Thanks

• iphone basic game loop

  I am little confused with my Opengl game loop. as I am skipping touch events some times. My game loop is some thing like this.. I have ScreenManager which draw and update all game screens who so ever has control.In update I am checking input of all screen also. if input state changes, then whichever screen has control, consume touches. EaglView draw update | | ScreenManager.draw ScreenManager.update -> handle input stack ___________ ___________ of ___________ ___________ screen ___________ ___________ Problem comes.. I am changing input state as touch begun and end methods called. but sometimes In my game loop both touchbegun/end methods get called between two updates and I am missing events. I guess approach is not good. can you guys share your approach to this problem.

• SSRS 2008 - How to hide the plus icon in a group visibility toggle cell

  I have a report that shows or hides columns in a group based on a header cell. SSRS makes this pretty easy and is kind enough to place a little plus/minus icon in the toggling cell. I want to HIDE this plus/minus icon when there is only one column of data in the subgroup, because it shows that one column by default so expanding the group doesn't do anything. This really only applies to one specific group, because all the others always have more than one column of data, so a way to hide only the icon for a specific group would be fine. JavaScript won't work (I don't think) because the client ID of the plus/minus image is generated by the report and changes with each generation. see this image for more clarity: http://imgur.com/vqaQA.png

  I am trying to implement the checkscript feature of uploadify in an asp.net mvc view but i can't determine what the key is i should be using on the controller side. Below is the php script but i am not very familiar with php and can't determine what php is scraping out of the httprequest. Has anyone implemented this? • jQuery UI Sortable - serialize multiple columns

  Dear stackoverflow experts, I have a little script which allows me to use jQuery to sort div tags nicely between 3 columns. The jQuery can be seen below: $(".column").sortable( { connectWith: '.column' }, { update: function(event, ui) { alert($(this).sortable('serialize')) } }); If I move an item from column 1 to column 2, it will display 2 alerts, showing the serialized data for the 2 affected columns. The problem is, I need to know the column ids too, so I can eventually save the data into a database. Right now, if it is possible to just display the column id in an alert but, that will be enough for me to continue. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

• QTableWidget signal cellChanged(): distinguish between user input and change by routines

  i am using PyQt but my question is a general Qt one: I have a QTableWidget that is set up by the function updateTable. It writes the data from DATASET to the table when it is called. Unfortunately this causes my QTableWidget to emit the signal cellChanged() for every cell. The signal cellChanged() is connected to a function on_tableWidget_cellChanged that reads the contents of the changed cell and writes it back to DATASET. This is necessary to allow the user to change the data manually. So everytime the table is updated, its contents are written back to DATASET. Is there a way to distinguish if the cell was changed by the user or by updateTable? i thought of disconnecting on_tableWidget_cellChanged by updateTable temporarily but that seems to be a little dirty.

• MIPS (or SPIM): Loading floating point numbers...

  Hey hey, I am working on a little mini compiler while trying to learn some MIPS here. Here's my issue: MIPS has an instruction li (load immediate) which would work like this li $5,100 which would load 100 into register 5. However, I need to load floats into registers right now and am struggling with figuring out a way to do it...since li $5,2.5 does not work. Anyone have any advice? I am working in C, I was thinking I could somehow get the integer representation of the float I am working with (i.e. so the floats binary representation == the ints binary representation) then load the "integer" into the register and treat it like a float from then on. Maybe its too late but Im stuck right now.

  Hey, I googled this a little but couldn't find a good result. Right now I'm building a web site and I'm trying to make it as correct as possible from a design point of view from the beginning. The problem I'm now facing is that when deciding to start with logging I needed a project to place this code in. As I could not find a suitable place in my currect projects I thought: hey, why not a logging class library? Is there a general guideline on how many projects you should have? I know this would be a rather small project but it would be nice to entirely get it out of my way! Any hints are appreciated :)

A little background: I use PowerShell on windows xp at work and I set a bunch of useful shortcuts in Microsoft.PowerShell_profile.ps1 in My Documents, trying to emulate Mac environment inspired by Ryan Bates's shortcuts I have things like: Set-Alias rsc Rails-Console function Rails-Console {Invoke-Expression "ruby script/console"} Which works just fine when in command prompt I say: rsc #it calls the proper command However this doesn't work properly Set-Alias rsg Rails-Generate function Rails-Generate {Invoke-Expression "ruby script/generate"} So when I do : rsg model User which is supposed to call ruby script/generate model User all it calls is ruby script/generate #Dumping my params So how would I properly modify my functions to take params I send to functions?   It's been a few years since my computer-language class and so I've forgotten the finer points of BNF's and EBNF's and I don't have a textbook next to me. Specifically, I've forgotten how to convert an EBNF into BNF. From what little I remember, I know that one of the main points is to convert { term } into <term> | <many-terms>. But I don't remember the other rules. I've tried to look this up online but I can only find links to either homework questions, or a small comment about converting terms with curly braces. I can't find an exhaustive list of rules that define the translation.

• What exactly is the "Multi-threaded Debug DLL" Runtime Library option doing in VS 2008?

  I have a solution in VS 2008 that creates a DLL. I then use that DLL in another application. If I go in to the DLL projects property pages and change the following configuration for a DEBUG build then the built dll no long provides the desired functionality. If I change it back and rebuild the DLL, then the DLL does provide the correct functionality: Property Pages = Configuration Properties = C/C++ = Code Generation = Runtime Library If set to "Multi-threaded Debug DLL (/MDd)" then everything works as it should. I get the correct functionality from the DLL If set to "Multi-threaded DLL (/MD)" then the DLL does not function properly...no runtime errors or anything, it just doesn't work (The DLL is supposed to plot some lines on a map but does not in this mode). So the question is, why does using the /MDd flag result in correction functionality of the underlying code, while /MD results in incorrect functionality? A little background...somebody else developed the DLL in C++ and I am using this DLL in a VB.net application.

• First TDD, Simple 2-tier C# Project - what do I unit test?

  This is probably a stupid question but my googling isn't finding a satisfactory answer. I'm starting a small project in C#, with just a business layer and a data access layer - strangely, the UI will come later, and I have very little (read:no) concept / control over what it will look like. I would like to try TDD for this project. I'm using Visual Studio 2008 (soon to be 2010), I have ReSharper 5, and nUnit. Again, I want to do Test-Driven Development, but not necessarily the entire XP system. My question is - when and where do I write the first unit test? Do I only test logic before I write it, or do I test everything? It seems counter-productive to test things that have no reason to fail (auto-properties, empty constructors)...but it seems like the "No new code without a failing test" maxim requires this. Links or references are fine (but preferably to online resources, not books - I would like to get started ASAP). Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Seriously, wikipedia doesn't cover it well, and I read an article on HN recently comparing git and bzr in some detail, but the author admitted knowing little about mercurial, and the other options didn't get mentioned. (I'm happily using fossil on small win/mac/Linux projects) Please restrict answers to the DVCS aspects of the tool, e.g. The basic unit of vc in hit is the repository- in bazaar it is the branch(http://unspecified.wordpress.com/2010/03/26/why-git-aint-better-than-x/). bugtrackers and wikis are nice, but I'm really interested in the tools themselves, rather than any extras. Unfortunately SO demands a single 'right answer', so I'm making the question community wiki in the hope that users will contribute their knowledge.

• Facebook require_login not working

  Is it possible to add icons to the buttons on a jQuery UI Dialog? If I add the following to "open": $('.ui-dialog-buttonpane').find('button:contains("Delete")').css('color', 'red'); then I do get a Delete button with red text. That's not bad, but I'd really like that little trash can sprite on the Delete button as well.

• Debugging with Visual Studio 2010 and VB.NET: Immediate fails due to proection level

  It happens quite frequently, more times per day, that with Visual Studio 2010, during the debugging, when I used Immediate commands like: ? NamedVariable I receive the following error: 'NamedVariable' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level. In this case also other debug features seems gone, but I can set breakpoints, step into, step over, etc. The solution is stop debugging, clean and rebuild the project, and retry. I am developing a VB.NET Windows Forms application, but it happened with VB.NET WPF projects too. I never had this behavior with VS 2008. Is this a known bug or could it be a problem of my environment/installation? Do you have any idea how to solve this little, but annoying issue?

  My rails app is about to go live and I'm trying to figure out how to create a widget based on data on the site. My Javascript is not too hot--limited to the O'reilly head first book on JS. I can read simple Javascript okay but when it comes to writing it I'm a little lost. That said, I hope to roll out a widget, maybe a wordpress plugin too soon after my app is launched. Does anyone know of any rails plugins, javascript templates, tutorials or books that can get me going? • how secure is NSURLConnection over https

  I've been reading through a number of questions on this site regarding NSURLConnection and https, but most relate to "untrusted" certificates and how to allow them nonetheless. My question is a little more basic. I am building an app for a client who handle online donations, and I would like to load their donation script using an NSLURLRequest and POST the values of credit card details (entered in the app). Does NSURLConnection (when connecting to a https url) ensure the encryption of those details as they are sent to the donation script on my clients server? Sorry if this is a basic question, I just couldn't find a place in the apple docs that guaranteed this.

• Updating the icons in an ObjectListView

  I'm using an TreeListView (a sub type of ObjectListView) in my current project. Each item in the list is given an icon, but the icon my vary depending on the state of the item. For example if the item is readonly I want to use an icon with a little lock symbol. When the items are first added to the TreeListView the icons are show correctly, yet later when the state of an item changes the icons are not updating. How do I force the control to regenerate all the icons?

  Hi, We have an application (written in C# on .NET Framework 3.5) that is licensed using our custom licensing mechanism. In the current implementation, in each method we first check for if the machine has valid license or not. To me, it is little bit awkward. Is there any way to let the runtime check for the license before creating the object or excuting a method? Will writing a custom attribute solves this problem?   Hello. I am developing a site (ASP.Net based) that, besides other features enables the users to blog as well. I am thinking of integrating BlogEngine.Net to my portal. From whatever little I have analyzed, integrating at presentation layer will be far more challenging in comparison to doing so at business layer. That means (I guess) I will have to use the BlogEngine.Core.dll in my application. I am looking for some sort of approval from the community, complimented with suggested do's and dont's. • Thrift client-server multiple roles

  Hi, this is my first question, so sorry if the form is wrong! I'm trying to make thrift server (python) and client (c++). However I need to exchange messages in both direction. Client should register (call server's function and wait), and server should listen on same port for N (N- 100k) incoming connections (clients). After some conditions are satisfied, server needs to call functions on each client and collect results and interpret them. I'm little confused, and first questions is "can this be done in Thrift"? Second question is related to mechanism that will allow me bidirectional communication. I guess that I will need two services. One with client's functions other with server's. But I'm confused with calling code. I understand one way communication (calling functions from server), but with calling functions from client side I have a problem. Any suggestions??? Thanks!
