  • C#: reflection alternative for switch on enum in order to select namespace/class

    - by Am
    Hi, I have an interface named IHarvester. There are 3 implementations of that interface, each under their own namespace: Google Yahoo Bing A HarvesterManager uses the given harvester. It knows the interface and all 3 implementations. I want some way of letting the class user say in which harvester it wants to use. And in the code select that implementation, without a switch-case implementation. Can reflection save my day? Here is the code bits: // repeat for each harvester namespace Harvester.Google { public abstract class Fetcher : BaseHarvester, IInfoHarvester {...} } public enum HarvestingSource { Google, Yahoo, Bing, } class HarvesterManager { public HarvestingSource PreferedSource {get;set;} public HarvestSomthing() { switch (PreferedSource) .... // awful... } } Thanks.

  • Building A True Error Handler

    - by Kevin Pirnie
    I am trying to build an error handler for my desktop application. The code Is in the class ZipCM.ErrorManager listed below. What I am finding is that the outputted file is not giving me the correct info for the StackTrace. Here is how I am trying to use it: Try '... Some stuff here! Catch ex As Exception Dim objErr As New ZipCM.ErrorManager objErr.Except = ex objErr.Stack = New System.Diagnostics.StackTrace(True) objErr.Location = "Form: SelectSite (btn_SelectSite_Click)" objErr.ParseError() objErr = Nothing End Try Here is the class: Imports System.IO Namespace ZipCM Public Class ErrorManager Public Except As Exception Public Location As String Public Stack As System.Diagnostics.StackTrace Public Sub ParseError() Dim objFile As New StreamWriter(Common.BasePath & "error_" & FormatDateTime(DateTime.Today, DateFormat.ShortDate).ToString().Replace("\", "").Replace("/", "") & ".log", True) With objFile .WriteLine("-------------------------------------------------") .WriteLine("-------------------------------------------------") .WriteLine("An Error Occured At: " & DateTime.Now) .WriteLine("-------------------------------------------------") .WriteLine("LOCATION:") .WriteLine(Location) .WriteLine("-------------------------------------------------") .WriteLine("FILENAME:") .WriteLine(Stack.GetFrame(0).GetFileName()) .WriteLine("-------------------------------------------------") .WriteLine("LINE NUMBER:") .WriteLine(Stack.GetFrame(0).GetFileLineNumber()) .WriteLine("-------------------------------------------------") .WriteLine("SOURCE:") .WriteLine(Except.Source) .WriteLine("-------------------------------------------------") .WriteLine("MESSAGE:") .WriteLine(Except.Message) .WriteLine("-------------------------------------------------") .WriteLine("DATA:") .WriteLine(Except.Data.ToString()) End With objFile.Close() objFile = Nothing End Sub End Class End Namespace What is happenning is the .GetFileLineNumber() is getting the line number from 'objErr.Stack = New System.Diagnostics.StackTrace(True)' inside my Try..Catch block. In fact, it's the exact line number that is on. Any thoughts of what is going on here, and how I can catch the real line number the error is occuring on?

  • How to implement wait(); to wait for a notifyAll(); from enter button?

    - by Dakota Miller
    Sorry for the confusion I posted the Worng Logcat info. I updated the question. I want to click Start to start a thread then when enter is clicked i want the thad to continue and get the message and handle the message in the thread then output it to the main thread and update the text view. How would i start a thread to wait for enter to be pressed and get the bundle for the Handler? Here is my Code: public class MainActivity extends Activity implements OnClickListener { Handler mHandler; Button enter; Button start; TextView display; String dateString; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); enter = (Button) findViewById(R.id.enter); start = (Button) findViewById(R.id.start); display = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.Display); enter.setOnClickListener(this); start.setOnClickListener(this); mHandler = new Handler() { <=============================This is Line 31 public void handleMessage(Message msg) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.handleMessage(msg); Bundle bundle = msg.getData(); String string = bundle.getString("outKey"); display.setText(string); } }; } @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { // Inflate the menu; this adds items to the action bar if it is present. getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.main, menu); return true; } @Override public void onClick(View v) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub switch (v.getId()) { case R.id.enter: Message msgin = Message.obtain(); Bundle bundlein = new Bundle(); String in = "It Works!"; bundlein.putString("inKey", in); msgin.setData(bundlein); notifyAll(); break; case R.id.start: new myThread().hello.start(); break; } } public class myThread extends Thread { Thread hello = new Thread() { @Override public void run() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.run(); Looper.prepare(); try { wait(); } catch (InterruptedException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } Handler Mhandler = new Handler() { @Override public void handleMessage(Message msg) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.handleMessage(msg); Bundle bundle = msg.getData(); dateString = bundle.getString("inKey"); } }; Looper.loop(); Message msg = Message.obtain(); Bundle bundle = new Bundle(); bundle.putString("outKey", dateString); msg.setData(bundle); mHandler.sendMessage(msg); } }; } } Here is the logcat info: 06-27 00:00:24.832: E/AndroidRuntime(18513): FATAL EXCEPTION: Thread-1210 06-27 00:00:24.832: E/AndroidRuntime(18513): java.lang.IllegalMonitorStateException: object not locked by thread before wait() 06-27 00:00:24.832: E/AndroidRuntime(18513): at java.lang.Object.wait(Native Method) 06-27 00:00:24.832: E/AndroidRuntime(18513): at java.lang.Object.wait(Object.java:364) 06-27 00:00:24.832: E/AndroidRuntime(18513): at com .example.learninghandlers.MainActivity$myThread$1.run(MainActivity.java:77)

  • Iterator blocks and inheritance.

    - by Dave Van den Eynde
    Given a base class with the following interface: public class Base { public virtual IEnumerable<string> GetListOfStuff() { yield return "First"; yield return "Second"; yield return "Third"; } } I want to make a derived class that overrides the method, and adds its own stuff, like so: public class Derived : Base { public override IEnumerable<string> GetListOfStuff() { foreach (string s in base.GetListOfStuff()) { yield return s; } yield return "Fourth"; yield return "Fifth"; } } However, I'm greeted with a warning that "access to a member through a base keyword from an iterator cannot be verified". What's the accepted solution to this problem then?

  • What is the purpose of unit testing an interface repository

    - by ahsteele
    I am unit testing an ICustomerRepository interface used for retrieving objects of type Customer. As a unit test what value am I gaining by testing the ICustomerRepository in this manner? Under what conditions would the below test fail? For tests of this nature is it advisable to do tests that I know should fail? i.e. look for id 4 when I know I've only placed 5 in the repository I am probably missing something obvious but it seems the integration tests of the class that implements ICustomerRepository will be of more value. [TestClass] public class CustomerTests : TestClassBase { private Customer SetUpCustomerForRepository() { return new Customer() { CustId = 5, DifId = "55", CustLookupName = "The Dude", LoginList = new[] { new Login { LoginCustId = 5, LoginName = "tdude" }, new Login { LoginCustId = 5, LoginName = "tdude2" } } }; } [TestMethod] public void CanGetCustomerById() { // arrange var customer = SetUpCustomerForRepository(); var repository = Stub<ICustomerRepository>(); // act repository.Stub(rep => rep.GetById(5)).Return(customer); // assert Assert.AreEqual(customer, repository.GetById(5)); } } Test Base Class public class TestClassBase { protected T Stub<T>() where T : class { return MockRepository.GenerateStub<T>(); } } ICustomerRepository and IRepository public interface ICustomerRepository : IRepository<Customer> { IList<Customer> FindCustomers(string q); Customer GetCustomerByDifID(string difId); Customer GetCustomerByLogin(string loginName); } public interface IRepository<T> { void Save(T entity); void Save(List<T> entity); bool Save(T entity, out string message); void Delete(T entity); T GetById(int id); ICollection<T> FindAll(); }

  • Session is null when inherit from System.Web.UI.Page

    - by Andreas K.
    I want to extend the System.Web.UI.Page-class with some extra stuff. In the ctor I need the value of a session-variable. The problem is that the Session-object is null... public class ExtendedPage : System.Web.UI.Page { protected foo; public ExtendedPage() { this.foo = (int)HttpContext.Current.Session["foo"]; // NullReferenceException } } If I move the part with the session-object into the Load-Event everything works fine... public class ExtendedPage : System.Web.UI.Page { protected foo; public ExtendedPage() { this.Load += new EventHandler(ExtendedPage_Load); } void ExtendedPage_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.foo = (int)HttpContext.Current.Session["foo"]; } } Why is the Session-object null in the first case??

  • Generic class for performing mass-parallel queries. Feedback?

    - by Aaron
    I don't understand why, but there appears to be no mechanism in the client library for performing many queries in parallel for Windows Azure Table Storage. I've created a template class that can be used to save considerable time, and you're welcome to use it however you wish. I would appreciate however, if you could pick it apart, and provide feedback on how to improve this class. public class AsyncDataQuery<T> where T: new() { public AsyncDataQuery(bool preserve_order) { m_preserve_order = preserve_order; this.Queries = new List<CloudTableQuery<T>>(1000); } public void AddQuery(IQueryable<T> query) { var data_query = (DataServiceQuery<T>)query; var uri = data_query.RequestUri; // required this.Queries.Add(new CloudTableQuery<T>(data_query)); } /// <summary> /// Blocking but still optimized. /// </summary> public List<T> Execute() { this.BeginAsync(); return this.EndAsync(); } public void BeginAsync() { if (m_preserve_order == true) { this.Items = new List<T>(Queries.Count); for (var i = 0; i < Queries.Count; i++) { this.Items.Add(new T()); } } else { this.Items = new List<T>(Queries.Count * 2); } m_wait = new ManualResetEvent(false); for (var i = 0; i < Queries.Count; i++) { var query = Queries[i]; query.BeginExecuteSegmented(callback, i); } } public List<T> EndAsync() { m_wait.WaitOne(); return this.Items; } private List<T> Items { get; set; } private List<CloudTableQuery<T>> Queries { get; set; } private bool m_preserve_order; private ManualResetEvent m_wait; private int m_completed = 0; private void callback(IAsyncResult ar) { int i = (int)ar.AsyncState; CloudTableQuery<T> query = Queries[i]; var response = query.EndExecuteSegmented(ar); if (m_preserve_order == true) { // preserve ordering only supports one result per query this.Items[i] = response.Results.First(); } else { // add any number of items this.Items.AddRange(response.Results); } if (response.HasMoreResults == true) { // more data to pull query.BeginExecuteSegmented(response.ContinuationToken, callback, i); return; } m_completed = Interlocked.Increment(ref m_completed); if (m_completed == Queries.Count) { m_wait.Set(); } } }

  • Problem with generic list and extension method(C#3.0)

    - by Newbie
    I have an issue. I am making an extension class for a Collection and it is generic.. like public static class ListExtensions { public static ICollection<T> Search<T>(this ICollection<T> collection, string stringToSearch) { ICollection<T> t1=null; foreach (T t in collection) { Type k = t.GetType(); PropertyInfo pi = k.GetProperty("Name"); if (pi.GetValue(t,null).Equals(stringToSearch)) { t1.Add(t); } } return t1; } } But I cannot add items to t1 as it is declared null. Error: object reference not set to an instance of the object. I am calling the method like List<TestClass> listTC = new List<TestClass>(); listTC.Add(new TestClass { Name = "Ishu", Age = 21 }); listTC.Add(new TestClass { Name = "Vivek", Age = 40 }); listTC.Add(new TestClass { Name = "some one else", Age = 12 }); listTC.Search("Ishu"); And the test class is public class TestClass { public string Name { get; set; } public int Age { get; set; } } Using : (C#3.0) & Framework - 3.5 Thanks

  • ASP.NET MVC: Can't figure out what VirtualPath is?

    - by Ryan_Pitts
    I have a View that displays a list of images and i am now trying to get it to display the images as thumbnails. Well, i'm pretty sure i got most of it right using VirtualPath's from a custom ActionResult although i can't seem to figure out what it is making the VirtualPath url?? BTW, i'm using XML to store the data from the images instead of SQL. Here is my code: Code from my custom ActionResult: public class ThumbnailResult : ActionResult { public ThumbnailResult(string virtualPath) { this.VirtualPath = virtualPath; } public string VirtualPath { get; set; } public override void ExecuteResult(ControllerContext context) { context.HttpContext.Response.ContentType = "image/bmp"; string fullFileName = context.HttpContext.Server.MapPath("~/Galleries/WhereConfusionMeetsConcrete/" + VirtualPath); using (System.Drawing.Image photoImg = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(fullFileName)) { using (System.Drawing.Image thumbPhoto = photoImg.GetThumbnailImage(100, 100, null, new System.IntPtr())) { using (System.IO.MemoryStream ms = new System.IO.MemoryStream()) { thumbPhoto.Save(ms, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg); context.HttpContext.Response.BinaryWrite(ms.ToArray()); context.HttpContext.Response.End(); } } } } } Code for my Controller: public ActionResult Thumbnail(string id) { return new ThumbnailResult(id); } Code for my View: <% foreach (var image in ViewData.Model) { %> <a href="../Galleries/TestGallery1/<%= image.Path %>"><img src="../Galleries/TestGallery1/thumbnail/<%= image.Path %>" alt="<%= image.Caption %>" /></a> <br /><br /><%= image.Caption %><br /><br /><br /> <% } %> Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Let me know of any questions you have as well. :) Thanks!

  • Not loading associations without proxies in NHibernate

    - by Alice
    I don't like the idea of proxy and lazy loading. I don't need that. I want pure POCO. And I want to control loading associations explicitly when I need. Here is entity public class Post { public long Id { get; set; } public long OwnerId { get; set; } public string Content { get; set; } public User Owner { get; set; } } and mapping <class name="Post"> <id name="Id" /> <property name="OwnerId" /> <property name="Content" /> <many-to-one name="Owner" column="OwnerId" /> </class> However if I specify lazy="false" in the mapping, Owner is always eagerly fetched. I can't remove many-to-one mapping because that also disables explicit loading or a query like from x in session.Query<Comment>() where x.Owner.Title == "hello" select x; I specified lazy="true" and set use_proxy_validator property to false. But that also eager loads Owner. Is there any way to load only Post entity?

  • Collection of dependencies in castle windsor

    - by jonnii
    I have the following scenario: public class FirstChildService : IChildService { } public class SecondChildService : IChildService { } public class MyService : IService { public MyService(IEnumerable<IChildService> childServices){ ... } } I'm currently registering all the child services and explicitly depending on them in the constructor of MyService, but what I'd like to do is have them all injected as part of a collection. I can think of a few ways to do this: Using a facility Using a component property Registering the collection as a service But all of them feel a bit... icky. What's the best way to manage this? Also, ideally I'd like to do this using the fluent API and constructor injection. I know it's possible to do something similar using properties: http://www.castleproject.org/container/documentation/trunk/usersguide/arrayslistsanddicts.html

  • ASP.NET MVC 2: Data DataAnnotations validation be convention

  • Make a Method of the Business Layer secure. best practice / best pattern [.net/c#]

    - by gsharp
    Hi We are using ASP.NET with a lot of AJAX "Page Method" calls. The WebServices defined in the Page invokes methods from our BusinessLayer. To prevent hackers to call the Page Methods, we want to implement some security in the BusinessLayer. We are struggling with two different issues. First one: public List<Employees> GetAllEmployees() { // do stuff } This Method should be called by Authorized Users with the Role "HR". Second one: public Order GetMyOrder(int orderId) { // do sutff } This Method should only be called by the owner of the Order. I know it's easy to implement the security for each method like: public List<Employees> GetAllEmployees() { // check if the user is in Role HR } or public Order GetMyOrder(int orderId) { // check if the order.Owner = user } What I'm looking for is some pattern/best practice to implement this kind of security in a generic way (without coding the the if then else every time) I hope you get what i mean :-) Thanks for you help.

  • how do i know how many clients are calling my WCF service function

    - by ZhengZhiren
    i am writing a program to test WCF service performance in high concurrency circumstance. On client side, i start many threads to call a WCF service function which returns a long list of data object. On server side, in that function called by my client, i need to know the number of clients calling the function. For doing that, i set a counter variable. In the beginning of the function, i add the counter by 1, but how can i decrease it after the funtion has returned the result? int clientCount=0; public DataObject[] GetData() { Interlocked.Increment(ref clientCount); List<DataObject> result = MockDb.GetData(); return result.ToArray(); Interlocked.Decrement(ref clientCount); //can't run to here... } i have seen a way in c++. Create a new class named counter. In the constructor of the counter class, increase the variable. And decrease it in the destructor. In the function, make a counter object so that its constructor will be called. And after the function returns, its destructor will be called. Like this: class counter { public: counter(){++clientCount; /* not simply like this, need to be atomic*/} ~counter(){--clientCount; /* not simply like this, need to be atomic*/} }; ... myfunction() { counter c; //do something return something; } In c# i think i can do so with the following codes, but not for sure. public class Service1 : IService1 { static int clientCount = 0; private class ClientCounter : IDisposable { public ClientCounter() { Interlocked.Increment(ref clientCount); } public void Dispose() { Interlocked.Decrement(ref clientCount); } } public DataObject[] GetData() { using (ClientCounter counter = new ClientCounter()) { List<DataObject> result = MockDb.GetData(); return result.ToArray(); } } } i write a counter class implement the IDisposable interface. And put my function codes into a using block. But it seems that it doesn't work so good. No matter how many threads i start, the clientCount variable is up to 3. Any advise would be appreciated.

  • How to access a field's value in an object using reflection

    - by kentcdodds
    My Question: How to overcome an IllegalAccessException to access the value of a an object's field using reflection. Expansion: I'm trying to learn about reflection to make some of my projects more generic. I'm running into an IllegalAccessException when trying to call field.getValue(object) to get the value of that field in that object. I can get the name and type just fine. If I change the declaration from private to public then this works fine. But in an effort to follow the "rules" of encapsulation I don't want to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! My Code: package main; import java.lang.reflect.Field; public class Tester { public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception { new Tester().reflectionTest(); } public void reflectionTest() throws Exception { Person person = new Person("John Doe", "555-123-4567", "Rover"); Field[] fields = person.getClass().getDeclaredFields(); for (Field field : fields) { System.out.println("Field Name: " + field.getName()); System.out.println("Field Type: " + field.getType()); System.out.println("Field Value: " + field.get(person)); //The line above throws: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Class main.Tester can not access a member of class main.Tester$Person with modifiers "private final" } } public class Person { private final String name; private final String phoneNumber; private final String dogsName; public Person(String name, String phoneNumber, String dogsName) { this.name = name; this.phoneNumber = phoneNumber; this.dogsName = dogsName; } } } The Output: run: Field Name: name Field Type: class java.lang.String Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Class main.Tester can not access a member of class main.Tester$Person with modifiers "private final" at sun.reflect.Reflection.ensureMemberAccess(Reflection.java:95) at java.lang.reflect.AccessibleObject.slowCheckMemberAccess(AccessibleObject.java:261) at java.lang.reflect.AccessibleObject.checkAccess(AccessibleObject.java:253) at java.lang.reflect.Field.doSecurityCheck(Field.java:983) at java.lang.reflect.Field.getFieldAccessor(Field.java:927) at java.lang.reflect.Field.get(Field.java:372) at main.Tester.reflectionTest(Tester.java:17) at main.Tester.main(Tester.java:8) Java Result: 1 BUILD SUCCESSFUL (total time: 0 seconds)

  • why primitive type will call first rather than wrapper classes?

I just want to know that why it call primitive type method rather than the method who accepts wrapper class as argument? Is there any rule, which java follow to call methods? Thanks,

  • Explicit call of Runnable.run

    - by klaudio
    Hi, I have a question. Somebody, who was working on my code before me, created some method and passed Runnable as parameter, more likely: void myMethod(Runnable runnable){ runnable.run(); } Then calling myMethod out of main looks like: public static void main(String args[]) { try { myMethod(new Runnable(){ public void run() { //do something...; }}); } catch (Throwable t) { } } So, to supply parameter to myMethod I need to instantiate object of (in this case anonymous) class implementing Runnable. My question is: is it necessary to use Runnable in this example? Can I use any different interface? I mean I can create new interface with single method i.e. interface MyInterface{ void doThis(); } then change look of myMethod: void myMethod(MyInterface myObject){ myObject.doThis(); } And of course client too: public static void main(String args[]) { try { myMethod(new MyInterface (){ public void doThis() { //do something...; }}); } catch (Throwable t) { } } Or maybe something is about Runnable?!

  • Flickering when repainting a JPanel inside a JScrollPAne

    - by pR0Ps
    I'm having a problem with repainting a JPanel inside a JScrollPane. Basically, I'm just trying to 'wrap' my existing EditPanel (it originally extended JPanel) into a JScrollPane. It seems that the JPanel updates too often (mass flickering). How would I stop this from happening? I tried using the setIgnoreRepaint() but it didn't seem to do anything. Will this current implementation work or would I need to create another inner class to fine-tune the JPanel I'm using to display graphics? Skeleton code: public class MyProgram extends JFrame{ public MyProgram(){ super(); add(new EditPanel()); pack(); } private class EditPanel extends JScrollPane{ private JPanel graphicsPanel; public EditPanel(){ graphicsPanel = new JPanel(); } public void paintComponent(Graphics g){ graphicsPanel.revalidate(); //update the scrollpane to current panel size repaint(); Graphics g2 = graphicsPanel.getGraphics(); g2.drawImage(imageToDraw, 0, 0, null); } } }

    We are using ASP.NET with a lot of AJAX "Page Method" calls. I know it's easy to implement the security for each method like: public List<Employees> GetAllEmployees() { // check if the user is in Role HR } or public Order GetMyOrder(int orderId) { // check if the order.Owner = user } What I'm looking for is some pattern/best practice to implement this kind of security in a generic way (without coding the the if then else every time) I hope you get what i mean :-)
