• Use WM_COPYDATA to send data between processes

  I wish to send text between processes. I have found lots of examples of this but none that I can get working. Here is what I have so far: for the sending part: COPYDATASTRUCT CDS; CDS.dwData = 1; CDS.cbData = 8; CDS.lpData = NULL; SendMessage(hwnd, WM_COPYDATA , (WPARAM)hwnd, (LPARAM) (LPVOID) &CDS); the receiving part: case WM_COPYDATA: COPYDATASTRUCT* cds = (COPYDATASTRUCT*) lParam; I dont know how to construct the COPYDATASTRUCT, I have just put something in that seems to work. When debugging the WM_COPYDATA case is executed, but again I dont know what to do with the COPYDATASTRUCT. I would like to send text between the two processes. As you can probably tell I am just starting out, I am using GNU GCC Compiler in Code::Blocks, I am trying to avoid MFC and dependencies.

• Multiple Context menus in PyQt based on mouse location

  I have a window with multiple tables using QTableWidget (PyQt). I created a popup menu using the right click mouse and it works fine. However, I need to create different popup menu based on which table the mouse is hovering over at the time the right mouse is clicked. How can I get the mouse to tell me which table it is hovering over? or, put in another way, how to implement a method so as to have a specific context menu based on mouse location? I am using Python and PyQt. • sql server datetime

  hey i have the following query: select * from table where table.DateUpdated >='2010-05-03 08:31:13:000' all the rows in the table being queried have the following DateUpdated: 2010-05-03 08:04:50.000 it returns all of the rows in the table - even though it should return none. I am pretty sure this is because of some crappy date/time regional thing. if i swap the date to be select * from table where table.DateUpdated >='2010-03-05 08:31:13:000' then it does as it should. How can i force everything to be using the same settings? this is doing my head in :) This is sql generated by NHIbernate from my WCF service if that matters. w://

• Why will this code compile using ifort compiler and not when using gfortran compiler? Help!

  I'm rewriting some code to make a program compile with the gfortran compiler as opposed to ifort compiler I usually use. The code follows: _Subroutine SlideBits (WORD, BITS, ADDR) Implicit None Integer(4) WORD Integer(4) BITS Integer(4) ADDR Integer(4) ADDR1 ADDR1 = 32 - ADDR WORD = (WORD .And. (.Not.ISHFT(1,ADDR1))) .Or. ISHFT(BITS,ADDR1) End_ When I compile the above code using the gfortran compiler, I recieve this error: WORD = (WORD .And. (.Not.ISHFT(1,ADDR1))) .Or. ISHFT(BITS,ADDR1) Error: Operand of .NOT. operator at (1) is INTEGER(4) All three of the variables coming into the subroutine are integers. I've looked around a bit and the gfortran wiki states that the gfortran compiler should be able to handle logical statments being applied to integer values. Several other sites I've visited either quote from the gnu wiki or agree with it. This is the first time I've seen this error as the Intel Fortran compiler (ifort) I normally use compiles cleanly.

• Why compressed xps are corrupt?

  compressed xps documents do not pass isxps.exe test and do not display in xpsviewer. i'm using Windows 7 and vs2010. IsXps.exe says "Unable to open Zip archive Error code: 0x8000FFFF", same with default W7 XpsViewer. what i'm doing wrong? (i've also installed latest 7zip program, but i do not think that it may corrupt the default windows zip capability......or not?)

• Why do I get a "Day too big" error from Perl?

  I have been helping someone debug some code where the error message was "Day too big". I know that this springs from localtime and the Y2038 bug (most google results appear to be people dealing with cookies expiring well into the future). We appear to have 'fixed' the problem by using time to get the current date. However, given that none of our original dates should have hit the 2038 issue I'm sceptical that we've actually fixed the problem ... Are there other instances that anyone knows of where one would hit "day too big"? OS is Solaris. Sample code - the actual code is quite large and the person I'm working with hasn't actually isolated the offending part (which is why I'm worried the 'fix' is not actually a fix). If I can put together something concise which reproduces the issue I will post!

• VS2008: Disable asking whether to reload files changed outside the IDE

  Hi, I have a Visual Studio 2008 project where some code files are generated with each build (a parser, integrated via MSBuild aka editing the *.csproj file). VS does not know about the generated nature of these files (i.e. they are not the result of a "Custom Tool). So they "change" with every build, naturally. And VS2008 asks me after every build if I would like to reload those files: This file has been modified outside the source Do you want to reload it? That would be ok if I had one of those files opened and in front of me, but I get these modal dialogs even with none of the code files opened. So my question is: Is there a way to disable this dialog, per project, per solution or globally? Thanks!

  I have a GWT app with a bunch of textboxes. In firefox I would expect that when I type a word in a textbox that I have already typed in and submitted, that firefox would offer to autocomplete that text. But for this GWT app it is not happening. Also in IE it seems that none of my css stuff is loaded. And when I IE developer tools on my GWT page, it can focus in on any of the textboxes it just focuses on the encompassing DIV around all the textboxes.

• Converting IPv4 or IPv6 address to a long for comparisons

  In order to check if an IPv4 or IPv6 address is within a certain range, I've got code that takes an IPv4 address, turns that into a long, then does that same conversion on the upper/lower bound of the subnet, then checks to see if the long is between those values. I've used response.redirect("Thankyou.aspx") a lot in the past I've also used something like this for hiding form controls and outputting a message: outResult.Attributes.Remove("style") outResult.Attributes.Add("style", "display:block;") outEntry.Attributes.Remove("style") outEntry.Attributes.Add("style", "display:none;") For the above you have to consider post backs that may occur if the user click refresh though. • In native C++, how does one use a SqlCe .sdf database?

  Is there a simple way, without .NET? I've found some libraries but none for SqlCe 3.5. There is http://sqlcehelper.codeplex.com/ but it's far from done, since a major feature like using a password is not yet implemented. I've looked at the source and it uses OLEdb to handle the database. The offical Microsoft Northwind example (that is shipped with SQL Compact 3.1, but not with 3.5) also doesn't work, I've tried setting it up with no success. Actually I don't have a sample working code. Was anyone able to set it up paired with a passworded .sdf? What are the alternatives? Thanks.

  Hi, I'm trying to create a database connection in a python script to my DB2 database. When the connection is done I've to run some different SQL statements. I googled the problem and has read the ibm_db API (http://code.google.com/p/ibm-db/wiki/APIs) but just can't seem to get it right. I just need to make a automatic test python script that can test different queries with different indexes and so on and for that I need to create and remove indexes a long the way.   Hello everybody, I need to implement a plugin architecture within c#/.net in order to load custom user defined actions data type handling code for a custom data grid / conversion / ... from non-static linked assembly files. Because the application has to handle many custom user defined actions, Iam in need for unloading them once executed in order to reduce memory usage. I found several good articles about plugin architectures, eg: ExtensionManager PluginArchitecture ... but none of them gave me enough sausage for properly unloading an assembly. As the program is to be distributed and the user defined actions are (as the name states) user defined: how to i prevent the assembly from executing malicious code (eg. closing my progra, deleting files)? Are there any other pitfalls one of you has encountered?

• Use SQL to filter the results of a stored procedure

  I've looked at other questions on Stack Overflow related to this question, but none of them seemed to answer this question clearly. We have a system Stored Procedure called sp_who2 which returns a result set of information for all running processes on the server. I want to filter the data returned by the stored procedure; conceptually, I might do it like so: SELECT * FROM sp_who2 WHERE login='bmccormack' That method, though, doesn't work. What are good practices for achieving the goal of querying the returned data of a stored procedure, preferably without having to look of the code of the original stored procedure and modify it.

• getResourceAsStream not loading resource in webapp

  I have a web application that uses a library which resides in TOMCAT_HOME/common/lib. This library looks for a properties file at the root of the classpath (in a class called ApplicationConfig): ApplicationConfig.class.getResourceAsStream("/hv-application.properties"); My Tomcat web application contains this properties file. It is in WEB-INF/classes, which is the root of the classpath right? However, at runtime, when it tries to load the properties file, it throws an exception because it can't find it (getResourceAsStream returns null). Everything works fine if my application is a simple, standalone Java application. Does Tomcat cause the getResourceAsStream method to act differently? I know there's a lot of similar questions out there, but none of them have helped unfortunately. Thanks.

• ValidateInput Attribute Doesn't Seem To Work in ASP.NET MVC

  I'm trying to get around the "potentially dangerous Request.Form value" error and I'm having no luck. Yes, yes, I've read all the other StackOverflow related questions and none of them seem to get me closer to an answer. I am using [ValidateInput(false)] on all related controller actions...and I've checked many times. I'm using ValidateRequest='false' in all the related ASPX views. I am using ASP.NET MVC 2 Preview 1, but I don't think that's an issue since the error is being generated lower in the framework; Page.ProcessRequest to be exact. I can't see anything I'm doing wrong, I even set <page validateRequest='false'> in the web.config and that didn't solve it either. HELP!!!!!

• How can I vertically center an element with GWT?

  Perhaps I haven't been searching the right way but I cannot figure out for the life of me how to center an element using GWT Layout Panels. I'm using UiBinder and I've tried all panels that implement HasVerticalAlignment (DockPanel, HorizontalPanel, VerticalPanel). None of them seem to have any impact from setting vertical alignment (or even horizontal). I've made sure they're taking 100% width and height, inspected the resulting DOM layout from my browser and nothing seems to be changed from those properties. The quick and dirty fix I've figured out is to create my own "CenterPanel" widget which basically is a wrapper around a HTMLPanel with a HTML table with a valign="middle" cell. However, this basically feels like a throwback to the classical css-layout middle centering problems. Surely GWT has something to do this that I've completely overlooked?

• X11: How do I REALLY grab the mouse pointer?

  I've implemented a horizontal splitter widget in Xlib. I'm trying to grab the mouse when the user clicks & drags on the splitter bar (so that the user can dynamically move the split & thus resize the windows on either side of the splitter bar). I've used XGrabPointer() after receiving a left click, in hopes that all future mouse motion (dragging) will be diverted to the splitter window until the left button is released. Unfortuntately, it doesn't seem to work like that. If the user drags too quickly and the mouse pointer enters one of the windows on either side of the split, the MotionEvent messages are diverted to that (child) window rather than the splitter window. What have I done wrong? • [C#] SerialPort not taking input. It throws it back at me!

  When I try to write an AT command to my GSM modem, it does not seem to take the command. I have used PuTTY to check that the command words, it does. I have checked to see if the port is opening, it does. What could I possibly be doing wrong?
