    A visually impaired colleague has asked me to recommend an IDE with easy-to-find and easy-to-use controls for: font size background and foreground colors changing syntax color scheme support for at least C/C++ and Java He would prefer an IDE that is either portable or that has similar versions for Linux, Windows and Mac. He prefers a dark background and light colored fonts and needs to sit very close to the display.

  • How do you exclude yourself from Google Analytics on your website using cookies?

    I'm trying to set up an exclusion filter with a browser cookie, so that my own visits to my don't show up in my Google Analytics. I tried 3 different methods and none of them have worked so far. I would like help understanding what I am doing wrong and how I can fix this. Method 1 First, I tried following Google's instructions, http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55481, for excluding traffic by Cookie Content: Create a new page on your domain, containing the following code: <body onLoad="javascript:pageTracker._setVar('test_value');"> Method 2 Next, when that didn't work, I googled around and found this Google thread, http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google%20Analytics/thread?tid=4741f1499823fcd5&hl=en, where the most popular answer says to use a slightly different code: SHS Analytics wrote: <body onLoad="javascript:_gaq.push(['_setVar','test_value']);"> Thank you! This has now set a __utmv cookie containing "test_value", whereas the original: pageTracker._setVar('test_value') (which Google is still recommending) did not manage to do that for me (in Mac Safari 5 and Firefox 3.6.8). So I tried this code, but it didn't work for me. How can I exclude myself from my Google Analytics using an exclusion cookie for my browser? Update I've been testing this for several days now, and I've confirmed that the 2nd method of excluding yourself from tracking does indeed work. The problem was that the filter settings weren't properly applied to my profile, which has been corrected. See the accepted answer below.

  • Radeon HD 2000, 3000, 4000 on 12.10 Quantal: fglrx (legacy) 12.6 unsupported, what to do?

    After upgrading to 12.10 quantal, the packaged version of fglrx no longer works. I discovered that this is because there is a separate 'legacy' fglrx driver for the HD 2k-4k series cards, but it is incompatible with the xorg server on 12.10. This is the most current version of the driver for HD 2000 through HD 4000 series cards. You can't use the non-legacy fglrx driver, but you can use the open-source radeon driver if you prefer your WM compositing to be laggy and your YouTube videos to play like they would on a Pentium MMX series: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/catalyst126legacyproducts.aspx Usually this driver can be installed in the following way, necessary because apt-get install fglrx would pull in the non-legacy driver: wget http://www2.ati.com/drivers/legacy/amd-driver-installer-12.6-legacy-x86.x86_64.zip unzip amd-driver-installer-* sudo sh ./amd-driver-installer-*.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/quantal sudo dpkg -i fglrx*.deb sudo aticonfig --initial -f If you use a different version of fglrx (for example, a newer 12.9 that doesn't support those cards) then the final command will give you an error no supported hardware detected or something similar. However, everything works at this point and you will get a reasonable xorg.conf: ... other stuff Section "Device" Identifier "aticonfig-Device[0]-0" Driver "fglrx" BusID "PCI:1:5:0" EndSection ... other stuff At this point you're supposed to reboot and everything will be working with the fglrx driver. However, upon rebooting, you'll be treated to the following errors in Xorg.0.log when fglrx attempts to load: (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so: undefined symbol: noXFree86DRIExtension Some searching around will show that this is a problem with the legacy ATI drivers not supporting xserver 1.13 or newer. (Arch Linux thread) ATI has released a fixed driver for its most recent (HD 5000 series or later) cards, but not for the 'legacy' cards yet. The non-legacy ATI drivers can't be used with the old cards. What should an Ubuntu user, using one of these HD 2000-4000 series cards, do? Wait for an updated 'legacy' ATI driver that properly works with xserver 1.13? Downgrade back to 12.04 Precise, which uses xserver 1.11? Try to downgrade xserver on 12.10 Quantal to 1.12, which could possibly break Unity and GNOME? Forced upgrade to HD 5000 series or later card? (Not possible with integrated graphics...) Some other 1337 action that fixes this problem painlessly?

My question is how do we change the address from www.example.com to blog.example.com. Integrated Capture provides support for all flavors of Oracle compression, including hybrid columnar compression (EHCC) on Exadata, where as our “Classic” capture would not. Oracle GoldenGate is executing on the database server capturing changes in real time. This is the default deployment method. The other option is downstream, where the source database and the Oracle GoldenGate Capture process are on different machines. This method effectively off-loads the processing requirements to a second machine.     I'm against compiled stuff going into version control, specially when it comes to compiled binaries, however, my principles are now in question after adding doxygen support for a project. Should the hundreds of files generated by doxygen go into version control?, what is the recommended practice here?, I think the ideal would be automating the process in a server that publishes that documentation at the same time, however, there is no such server now nor there will be for some time.

  • Forms&Reports upgrade characterset issues

    Hello,This quick post is based on my findings during recent IMC workshops, especially those related to upgrading the Forms 6i/9i/10g applications to Forms 11g platform. The upgrade process itself is pretty straightforward and it basically requires recompiling your Forms application with a latest version of frmcmp tool. For some cases though, especially when you migrate from Forms 6i which is a client-server architecture to a 3-tier web solution (Forms 11g), you need to rewrite some parts of your code to make it run on new platform. The things you need to change range from reimplementing (using webutil library) typical client-site functionality like local IO operation, access to WinAPI, invoking DLLs etc. to changing deprecated or obsolete APIs like RUN_PRODUCT to RUN_REPORT_OBJECT. To automate those changes Oracle provides complete Java API  which allows you to manipulate the code and structure of you modules (JDAPI). To make it even easier we can use Forms Migration Assistant tool (written in Java using JDAPI) which is able to replace all occurrences of old API entries with their 11g equivalents or warn you when the replacement is not possible. You can also add your own replacement definitions in the search_replace.properties file. But you need to be aware of some issues that can be encountered using this tool. First of all if you are using some hard-coded text inside your triggers you may notice that after processing them by the Migration Assistant tool the national characters may be lost. This is due to the fact that you need to explicitly tell Java application (which MA really is) what kind of characterset it should use to read those text properly. In order to do that just add to a script calling MA the following line:  export JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS=-Dfile.encoding=<JAVA_ISO_ENCODING>  when the particular encoding must match the NLS_LANG in your Forms Builder environment (for example for Polish characterset you need to use ISO-8859-2).Second issue you can encounter related to national charactersets is lack of national symbols in you reports after migration. This can be solved by adding appropriate NLS_LANG entry in your reports environment. Sometimes instead of particular characterset you see "Greek characters" in your reports. This is just default font used by reports engine instead of the one defined in your report. To solve it you must copy fonts definitions from your old environment (e.g. Forms 10g installation) to appropriate directory in new installation (usually AFM folder). I have searched various threads having similar problems for a solution and have no success. The wlan0 is not even showing up in rfkill. Please help me find a solution.
