    Tabs plugin I use loads the data from another page. Data loaded is in xml format so I need to style that data loaded. How can I do it? ny suggestion highly appreciated.   • What's the simplest and most robust way to have constant-height submit button with rounded corners?

    Constant height so just left/right images should be necessary instead of having 4+, right? I'd still want top-to-bottom color gradient (and different one on hover). If possible, I'd prefer if it was still an <input type='submit'> and not anything weird. Is there any way (website / imagemagick script etc.) to generate these images automatically or do I need to draw them in some graphics program?

    i would like to implement 'drawing modes' (in my own graphics library). That is drawing with AND, OR, etc However i am storing colors using floats, each channel between 0 and 1.0 Do i have to first convert each color channel to 0-255 before i can use the AND, OR, etc drawing modes? and then convert back to float (0.0-1.0) ? Or is there another way of doing it? thanks

    I have noticed that Silverlight uses alpha-blending channel for colors for example #FF000000, being the FF the alpha channel of the color. The problem I am currently facing is that I'm doing some neat UI changes to an app and the colors from Photoshop to silverlight don't look the same. I know im using the correct colors but every colors looks washed out, on Silverlight. Anyone knows how silverlight manages colors?

  • ie8 playing funny with list-style-position: inside

    Ok, So problem here... when using list-style-position:inside in IE8 the first like is indented but every line after that is not. So the new lines appear under the bullet. This is fine, but when I use a list with that css applied with an a tag within the li then the text automatically gets pushed to the second line, and the first line is empty. When I remove the a tag from the li then it jumps back up. Any idea on why this might be or is this a bug in the ie8 world or do I just need to double check my css? Any insights would be much appreciated.   • Help with simple frame, and graphics in Java

    For hw, I'm trying to create a "CustomButton" that has a frame and in that frame, I draw two triangles, and a square over it. It's supposed to give the user the effect of a button press once it is depressed. So for starters, I am trying to set up the beginning graphics, drawing two triangles, and a square. The problem I have is although I set my frame to 200, 200, and the triangles I have drawn I think to the correct ends of my frame size, when I run the program, I have to extend my window to make the whole artwork, my "CustomButton," viewable. Is that normal? Thanks.   • Locate devices within a building

    The situation: Our company is spread between two floors in a building. Every employee has a laptop (macbook Air or MacbookPro) and an iPhone. We have static DHCP mappings and DNS resolution so every mobile gets a name like employeeiphone.example.com, every macbook air gets a employeelaptop.example.com and every macbook pro gets a employeelaptop.example.com on the Ethernet interface (the wifi gets a dynamic IP from a small range dedicated for the purpose). We know each and every MAC address of phones and laptops, since we do DHCP static mapping (ISC DHCP server runs on linux). At each floor we have a Netgear stack of two switches, connected via 10GB fiber to each other. No VLANs so far. At every floor there are 4 Airport Extreme making a single SSID network with WPA2 authentication. The request: Our CTO wants to know who is present at which floor. My solution (so far): Every switch contains an table listing MAC address and originating port. On each switch stack, all the MAC addresses coming from the other floor are listed as coming on port 48 (the fiber link). So I came up with: 1) Get the table from each switch via SNMP 2) Filter out the ones associated with port 48 3) Grep dhcpd.conf, removing all entries not *laptop and not *iphone 4) Match the two lists for each switch, output in JSON or XML 5) present the results on a dashboard for all to see I wrote it in bash with a lot of awk and sed, it kinda works but I always have for some reason stale entries in the switch lookup tables, making it unreliable; some people may have put their laptop to sleep, their iphones drop connections after a while, if not woken up and so on..I searched left and right, we are prepared to spend a little on the project too (RFIDs?), does anybody do something similar? I can provide with the script if needed (although it's really specific to our switches and naming scheme). Thanks! p.s. perhaps is this a question for stackoverflow? please move if it so.

    I have a dynamically generated select with some options and it shows the options fine in normal browsers, but its empty options in IE. The weird thing is, if I alert the html of the option just after the getDiff() function, it shows the value filled out. And it I put the getDiff() function in the for loop where the options are generated, it fills the values and shows them in IE, just not the last one. I'm calling getDiff() outside the loop for optimization, and since I can add the values later after all the options are generated. Well at least I thought I could, since it works on Firefox and Chrome.

    I have richTextBox1, and here is the contents: line one from my textbox is this, and i want this to be normal, arial, 8 point non-bold font line two, i want everything after the | to be bolded... | this is bold line three: everything in brackets i (want) to be the color (Red) line 4 is "this line is going to be /slanted/ or with italics and so on, basically if I know how to do what I mentioned above, I'll know everything I need to know to complete my project.   • Winodws server 2003 Setup

    I work at a university maintaining the computer science department server. I am looking for a more economical way to stream line the set up of student accounts. CS students are granted a Username and password an IIS virtual directory, FTP virtual directory, and a mysql database. Server is running windows server 2003R2 (Possibly migrating to 2008R2) The server is running a domain though no students physically log a terminal into it (No computers are part of my domain.) Creating the account is a manual process. I did right a PHP script to query the Universities AD and copy the information and write it to my AD. I then have to create basically the users home directory. I tried having AD do it but since the user never physically logs in it never creates the directory. Permissions on this folder are set to User - full, Instructors (group) - full, Users (group) - read, IUSER - read. Inside of the users folder their is a "Private" folder with permissions User - full, instructors (group) - full. Next step is IIS I create a virtual directory in the default web site pointed to the users home directory so they have a website. Same goes for FTP virtual directory in the default ftp configuration to allow the users to upload files to their website. Mysql I have to create a user and password then create a mysql scheme (database) full access for the user and full access to the instructors account to be able to access the students database. All of this is done manually and takes me a week to do. The closest description is maybe a shared hosting environment. Is there a better way to do this? Scripting wise, or better structure setup?

Nevertheless in your application data, Chrome keeps your entire browsing history in SQLite database files, with the file naming scheme of "History Index YYYY-MM". I am looking for a way to search… …through my entire browsing history, …with sophisticated filters (limit search terms to certain fields such as URL, domain, title, body text; wildcard or regex terms, date ranges). … in … …either some ready-made software. eHistory came close, as it can limit terms to fields, but it lacks wildcards/regexes, and has the same limited time horizon as the default search. Beyond that, I could not find any suited Chrome extension or standalone (Mac) app. …or a command line to join multiple SQLite database files into one database, which I can then query (with the full syntax power).   • vi and emacs: comparison? (not flamebait!)

    So, I've been enjoying learning and using vi for the last couple of years. The beauty of vi, for me, is that its UI is a language of movement and action with a very uniform, simple grammar, and which is terse enough that the requisite memorization pays ample dividends in how much more I enjoy working with text (by avoiding boring repetition and eliminating micro-hassles, like that half-second annoying wait while you scroll down the screen). (Note--I don't claim to have expert knowledge of vi, but I get around decently well: comfortable with limited '@' macros and regexp search-and-replace within files; frequently use multiple buffers, tabs, and windows; get around pretty well in the file browser; understand the grammar of actions + movement + subject (as described so aptly in this beautiful SO answer); and had some pretty sweet debugger and ctags integration going with PHP.) I wonder if some emacs folks could take a swing at explaining what emacs does brilliantly, or sum its strengths up in a phrase or two. Spare me the talk about productivity; I'm more interested in conceptual clarity. Lisp-centric answers are okay; I'm learning Scheme on the weekends, and would pick up emacs for that alone (have been using Racket).
