• Binding to an XElement

  I need help binding to an XElement. Basically I am making a editor for certain elements in a web.config and I extract them as XElements and my View binds to a Collection of DataItems which has a property that contains my XElement. When I do Text="{Binding Path=Data, Mode=OneWay, NotifyOnSourceUpdated=True}"/> I get all the text of the Element, but If I try Text="{Binding Path=Data.Elements[], Mode=OneWay, NotifyOnSourceUpdated=True}"/> It doesn't work the TextBox is empty. I am trying to find a way to Template different sections dynamically to make them easier to edit instead of editing raw XMl.

• How do I make a multiple file upload?

  I am trying to make a multiple image uploader. The file upload fields are being added in the form dynamically using jquery. I tried making an array of the fields since I don't want to have a hidden field. so my generated upload fields look like <input type="file" id="img0" name="img[]"/> <input type="file" id="img1" name="img[]"/> <input type="file" id="img2" name="img[]"/> ..... .. And on the php side I did something like if(isset($_FILES['img'])) { foreach($_FILES['img'] as $k=>$v) { if($v!="") { uploadImage($k,0,0,0,"content/gallery/"); } } } Now I know I am way too wrong, since in that code I am looping through the 'img' file's properties instead of all images....but I have no idea how to fix this. PS: uploadImage is a function I wrote which expects the file input field's name as the first parameter.

• auto resize text (font size) when resizing window?

  Hi, I have been trying(in vain) to build a page whose elements would resize as I changed the window size. I have it working in css for images no problem, but I can't seem to accomplish the same for text, and I am not sure it is even possible in CSS. And I can't seem to find a jquery script that accomplishes this. When a user resizes the window, I essentially want the page to scale dynamically and fluidly, without the user having to invoke page zoom. This works fine on my img divs via css, but not for the text, which stays the same size. any ideas? Thanks!

• Image equivalent of ActionLink in ASP.NET MVC

  In ASP.NET MVC is there an equivalent of the Html.ActionLink helper for Img tags? I have a controller action that outputs a dynamically generated JPEG and I wanted to use the same Lambda expressions to link to it as I do HREFs using ActionLink. Alternatively, a helper that just gives the URL to a route (again specified using Lambdas) would also be acceptable. EDIT: I had originally specified that I was using Preview 5, however I see that a Beta has been released. So all-in-all the version number was an unneeded piece of info as I may be upgrading soon :-)

• Does jQuery.on() work for elements that are added after the event handler is created?

  I was under the impression all this time that .on() worked like .live() with regards to dynamically created elements (e.g. I use $('.foo').on('click', function(){alert('click')}); and then an element with the class foo is created due to some AJAX, now I'm expecting a click on that element to cause an alert). In practice, these weren't the results I got. I could be making a mistake, but could somebody help me understand the new way to achieve these results, in the wake of .on()? Thanks in advance.

• How to setup custom CSS based on account settings in a Django site?

  So I'm writing a Django based website that allows users select a color scheme through an administration interface. I already have middleware/context processors that links the current request (based on domain) to the account. My question is how to dynamically serve the CSS with the account's custom color scheme. I see two options: Add a CSS block to the base template that overrides the styles w/variables passed in through a context processors. Use a custom URL (e.g. "/static/dynamic/css//styles.css") that gets routed to a view that grabs all the necessary values and creates the css file. I'm content with either option, but was wondering if anyone else out there has dealt with similar problems and could give some insight as to "Best Practices".

• Remove a DIV using a link

  HTML: <div class="row"> <!-- content --> <a href="#" class="remove">remove</a> </div> JS: $('.remove').click(function(){ $(this).parent().remove(); return false; }); If there is only one DIV it works OK but when there are multiple DIVS (class="row") it won't do anything. No errors are returned either. EDIT: I should add that by default there is only one div - additional divs get dynamically created using a jQuery clone function - perhaps this is why it won't recognise the new link/div?

  Here is the Javascript I currently have <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('.slideshow').hover( function() { $('.slides').cycle('resume'); }, function() { $('.slides').cycle('pause'); } ); $('.slides').cycle({ fx: 'fade', speed: .3, timeout: 280, next: '#next', prev: '#prev' }).cycle("pause"); }); </script> It works; but the thing is it works for all thumbnail sets on the page, and whenever I mouseover on one set of images, every other set of images loops as well. I do see that this is because I'm targeting classes, but my jQuery experience is quite limited so I have no idea how to only target a single instance of each class without effecting the others, and I can't go in and hardcode id's because my thumbnails and amount of videos on each page are determined dynamically via this Django template. http://pastebin.com/nf42bSAx I would greatly appreciate any help, as this is essential for my project (open source media platform). The text is based upon database IDs contained in the querystring. There will be a limited number of variations. Which one of the following would be the most efficient means of returning the image to the client? Store each variation upon the first generation, and thenceforth retrieve this from the drive. Simply generate the image each time. Cache the output response based upon the querystring.

I forgot to mention that I want to send an array through post, having all my information regarding all the form values dynamically created by javascript. • Silverlight "Out of browser application" vs. "Install from page"

  I’ve been working on integrating some controls which call in to COM classes in to a Silverlight client. Since my controls use COM, they only work out of browser. The client does have out of browser installation options turned on, and when I launch the client from visual studio, I can right click it, and install it to the desktop. That all seems to be working fine. The strange part though is that my controls don’t work when they’re out of browser – I get an error that the COM server can’t be started. The stranger part is that if I go in to the clientproperties, and set the Start Action from “Dynamically generate a test page” to “Out of browser application”, my controls work fine, and I get no COM errors. So I guess I don’t understand the difference between installing the application to the desktop through the right click menu and setting the application to start as an out of browser application. Any idea what's going on here?

At the bottom of the page, I have this: and in the javascript functions, I put this: Facebook.urchinTracker("/ajaxcallname/"); However, it doesn't work.. and what I found out is that the utmac (the google account id) is empty!!! _uacct is empty! even I set it in the FBML, it is still empty!! and I can't find a way to dynamically set _uacct be my google account ID.. any one has any idea?

  I have a dynamically generated list of links. Each link will request a different page to load. Depending on the link clicked I want it to fill the div with an ajax .load call. The thing is I want all links to reset and fill the same div. I am having trouble doing this without making a seperate div for each link, which isn't what I'm looking for. • jQuery - How to determine if a parent element exists?

  Hi, I'm trying to dynamically and a link to an image, however I cannot correctly determine is the parent link already exists. This is what I have, if (element.parent('a'.length) > 0) { element.parent('a').attr('href', link); } else { element.wrap('<a></a>'); element.parent('a').attr('href', link); } Where element refers to my img element and link refers to the url to use. Every time the code runs, the else clause is performed, regardless of whether or not the img tag is wrapped in an a tag. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

  The problem: I am unable to use OutputCaching with my controls which derives from MyCustomControl. Controls are loaded dynamically using definitions from database with Page.LoadControl method. When I add to ascx <%@ OutputCache VaryByParam="*" Duration="3600"% the "InvalidCastException: System.Web.UI.PartialCachingControl - MyCustomControl" exception is thrown. I am unable to modify assembly witch contains dynamic loading controls logic. Is there any way to fix it in derived controls? The second question is about iis7 and native output caching - is it resolves this problem? (I tried to set up several performance counters and I saw that cache wasn't hit...)

  Please see the two long linklabels below (please ignore the black lines above) Linklabels' length is made dynamically during runtime, and as seen, could be that it's too long and overlapping other text we have (there is another text where you see 'Differences'). My questions are: a) Can I limit the maximum length of a linklabel? b) Is that possible to use a scrollbar with a linklabel (or any similar control) in case that it's too long? e.g. setting it to 200 pixels, and in case it's longer, the user has to scroll the horizontal scroller and see end of the text. • Is it possible to evaluate a JSP only once per session, and cache it after that?

  My site has a nav menu that is dynamically built as a separate JSP, and included in most pages via <jsp:include />. The contents and styling of the menu are determined by which pages the user does and doesn't have access to. The set of accessible pages is retrieved from the database when a user logs in, and not during the course of a session. So, there's really no need to re-evaluate the nav menu code every time the user requests a page. Is there an easy way to generate the markup from the JSP only once per session, and cache/reuse it during the session?
