I think that I have setup BCS correctly (since I see it running in the central administration). When I go into SharePoint designer 2010 and try to setup a new External Content Type, I get the following error: "There is no Business Connectivity Service associated with the current web context."   • Unlock file on Windows Server 2003 without rebooting

    We've several Windows Server 2003 machines running, each with its own purposes. There are scheduled jobs which synchronizes some files over SFTP using WinSCP. Very sometimes a newly copied file is left locked in the "inbox" folder without any reason. The machine's own background task (programmed in Java) can't move it to the "processed" folder anymore after processing it. Manually moving it only yields the well known error message Cannot move [filename]: it is being used by another person or program. The only resort is to reboot the machine, but we would of course like to avoid that. Any suggestions? I tried Unlocker which works fine locally at WinXP, but doesn't work at those Win2K3 machines by remote desktop (unlock option doesn't show up in rightclick context menu).

    When trying to do some science to answer this question, I took a Windows 7 guest on a Server 2008 R2 host being managed by SCVMM 2012 and ran Prime95 on it to just generate some CPU usage. Here's the Guest: The Hyper-V host shows 12%, which is 1/8 cores (which is what is allocated), so that's looking correct: But SCVMM is showing 0%: I have left the stress test running for a long time, thinking that maybe SCVMM averages out over a long time (I thought it was 9 minutes, but I've been known to be wrong; just don't tell my wife). Why is SCVMM showing 0% when everything else seems to disagree?

Container is a vector of pairs composed of element and vector. I want to write std::find_if algorithm with lambda expression to find element that have certain value. To get the value I have to call first on pair and then get value from element. Below my std::find_if there is normal loop that does the trick. My lambda fails to compile. How to access value inside element which is inside pair?   • How to Zip one IEnumerable with itself

    I am implementing some math algorithms based on lists of points, like Distance, Area, Centroid, etc. Just like in this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2227828/find-the-distance-required-to-navigate-a-list-of-points-using-linq That post describes how to calculate the total distance of a sequence of points (taken in order) by essentially zipping the sequence "with itself", generating the sequence for Zip by offsetting the start position of the original IEnumerable by 1. So, given the Zip extension in .Net 4.0, assuming Point for the point type, and a reasonable Distance formula, you can make calls like this to generate a sequence of distances from one point to the next and then to sum the distances: var distances = points.Zip(points.Skip(1),Distance); double totalDistance = distances.Sum(); Area and Centroid calculations are similar in that they need to iterate over the sequence, processing each pair of points (points[i] and points[i+1]). I thought of making a generic IEnumerable extension suitable for implementing these (and possibly other) algorithms that operate over sequences, taking two items at a time (points[0] and points[1], points[1] and points[2], ..., points[n-1] and points[n] (or is it n-2 and n-1 ...) and applying a function. My generic iterator would have a similar signature to Zip, but it would not receive a second sequence to zip with as it is really just going to zip with itself. I change all my types to AsyncBinaryWriter and I use .Write, but no data is written to the stream. Is that the proper way for using it ?

  • Reboot loop after sysprep of AD machine

    Major screw-up here and I need to find out how much trouble I am in. I have an AD machine that is running Server 2008 R2, hyperv, DHCP and DNS. On the hyperv machine, I have a backup AD instance running along with a handfull of other server 2008 instances. Sysprep was run on the hyperv machine instead of one of the instances. I am attempting to bring the machine back up so I can try a system restore. When I boot the hyperv machine, I get an error that says “Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer , restart the installation” This message occurs in safe mode, AD restore mode and in last known configuration mode. How can I get my OS to boot at this point? Do I need to reinstall 2008 R2 from scratch?

    I read that early builds of Chrome supported ActiveX, but was later restricted to certain MIME types (for support for say Windows Media Player). I then read Google was going to enable ActiveX strictly for the Korean market. How do I (re)enable this in Chrome? Our web based product relies on ActiveX controls from 3rd parties to play custom video. This limits us to IE. We'd love to support Chrome also, but find it impossible w/o ActiveX support.

  • Why is lassoing ink in OneNote so slow in general? Doesn't anyone care?

    Now I understand that this is especially an (known) issue in the OneNote 2013 preview and that it will probably be fixed in the final release. But lassoing in OneNote 2010 was no sprightly affair either. I'm just perplexed really, why on earth is there such an issue? Is lassoing intrinsically computationally expensive? OneNote would be soooooooooooo much more useful if there's no lasso lag. And doing a laggy lasso on tablet pcs with weak processors is just so much worse. Or do most folks just don't use the lasso feature much? I use it primarily to shrink intermediate calculations for future retrieval.

  • NLB NIC w/ Static IP permanently "Acquiring Network Address" after adding more IP's to the cluster

    We have a 2 node NLB cluster. I recently added more IP's to the cluster range, after which point, the NLB NIC's on both of my nodes ended up in a permanent "acquiring network address" state. The cluster appears to be functioning despite this hang in acquiring an address. We've also rebooted the machines, and these NIC's remain in this state "acquiring network address" even after reboot, which I find troubling. Questions: Does anyone know where I can find documentation on how NLB binds to a NIC? (are there dll's involved, drivers, etc.) Does anyone know of any programs that have known incompatability issues with NLB? We have an application server installed on these NLB nodes (AOL Server) that interacts with the NIC's as well, and I suspect that it might be causing this issue. Before I go directly to Microsoft, I want to gather as much information as possible about the issue. Any help / guidance would be much appreciated...

    I'm running into this little problem that I hope is just a dumb user error. It looks like some sort of a size limit with a query to a SQLite database. I managed to reproduce the issue with an in-memory DB and a simple script shown below. I can make it work by either reducing the number of records in the DB; or by reducing the size of each record; or by dropping the order_by() call.
