• Cannot get variable.replace working properly.

  Hello, I am trying to replace a string with a new string in a python file and write the new string permanently to it. When I run the below script it removes part of the string and not all of it. The string in the file is: self.id = "027FC8EBC2D1" And the script I have to replace the string is: def edit(): o = open("test.py","r+") #open for line in open("test.py"): line = line.replace("027FC8EBC2D1","NewValue") o.write(line) o.close() edit() Thanks for any help.

• iphone app working on most devices but not a few

  Hi there. I have recently been rewriting some of my iphone app because a couple of users have said it was crashing on certain events. The event in question is when I add a new XIB to the view using the following code AddItemViewController * add_item = [[AddItemViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"AddItem" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; [self presentModalViewController:add_item animated:YES]; [add_item setViewFormat:2]; [add_item release]; it works perfectly on my iphone and a mate's ipod touch (both running 3.1.3) but another user on an ipod touch also with 3.1.3 says it crashes when the function above is called. Why could this be happening? Surely if it works on one device it should work on another?! Is there a better way to add a view which maybe doesnt crash? I have also disabled all the code on the loading xib - so it literally is loading a near blank page. It's SO annoying!! Thanks for any help.

  Hello, I am trying to figure out the SQL for doing some relatively simple operations on sets of records in a table but I am stuck. Consider a table with multiple rows per item, all identified by a common key. For example: serial model color XX1 A blue XX2 A blue XX3 A green XX5 B red XX6 B blue XX1 B blue What I would for example want to do is: Assuming that all model A rows must have the same color, find the rows which dont. (for example, XX3 is green). Assuming that a given serial number can only point to a single type of model, find out the rows which that does not occur (for example XX1 points both to A and B) These are all simple logically things to do. To abstract it, I want to know how to group things by using a single key (or combination of keys) and then compare the values of those records. Should I use a join on the same table? should i use some sort of array or similar? thanks for your help

• IE7 preventDefault() not working on skip links

  I currently have skip links that jump to the div ids and was using e.preventDefault() to stop the url from changing when jumping to the element but in IE7 and IE8 it doesn't work at all using e.preventDefault() and if I take it out the url changes to the div the anchor tag contains reference to. Is their any fix or way around this? • Add Page Tab dialog not working

  I was always using the direct Add to Page Tab URL like this: http://www.facebook.com/dialog/pagetab?app_id=238557109577754&redirect_uri=http://www.facebook.com And today that URL gives me "Sorry, something went wrong.". Did something changed on Facebook side? Or is it a temporary bug? Note that I have tried other redirect_uri params, such as the URL of the location where the app is hosted. It does always result in the same error.

• document.getElementById('form_name').submit() not working properly

  Ok, I will try to give the most details I can. The site is not suposed to work with IE6. It would be nice if it worked with IE8 and Chrome, but that can be done later. The site is in PHP. The form where the submit is in another PHP file that is included in position on the index.php inside of a DIV tag. If I open the form solely, the submit works correcly, but when I try to submit on the index page, the Firefox error console says that document is undefined. The form code is echoed line by line via PHP. Save the text fields for username and password, the form code is the following: <form id="entrar" action="entrar.php" method="post" onsubmit="javascript:checkvalues();"> <a href="javascript:document.getElementById('entrar').submit();">ENTRAR</a> </form> What's the big deal? What am I missing here? I know it is something very silly but I can't figure it out.

• math.Random isn't working right

  I'm trying to simulate a coin flip using the code below. public class Coin { public static double result; int[] count = new count[2]; public static void flip() { result = Math.random(); } public static boolean isHeads() { if (result == 0.0) { count[0]++; return false; } else { count[1]++; return true; } } public static void main(String[] args) { flip(); isHeads(); System.out.println(count[0]); System.out.println(count[1]); } } For some reason Eclipse says that the import java.util.Random; is never used even though I'm clearly using it. I didn't put my for loop into the code above but it loops n number of times and then outputs the result. No matter how many times it loops it always returns that the result is greater than 0.0 which can't be right. Am I calling Math.random incorrectly?

• Looking for some help working with premultiplied alpha

  I am trying to update a source image with the contents of multiple destination images. From what I can tell using premultiplied alpha is the way to go with this, but I think I am doing something wrong (function below). the image I am starting with is initialized with all ARGB values set to 0. When I run the function once the resulting image looks great, but when I start compositing on any others all the pixels that have alpha information get really messed up.   I came across an interview task/question that really got me thinking ... so here it goes: You have an array A[N] of N numbers. You have to compose an array Output[N] such that Output[i] will be equal to multiplication of all the elements of A[N] except A[i]. For example Output[0] will be multiplication of A[1] to A[N-1] and Output[1] will be multiplication of A[0] and from A[2] to A[N-1]. Solve it without division operator and in O(n). I really tried to come up with a solution but I always end up with a complexity of O(n^2). Perhaps the is anyone smarter than me who can tell me an algorithm that works in O(n) or at least give me a hint...

• ie8 fadein with transparent png not working

  I am quite confused with how to effectively use the Html.DropDownList helper for ASP.NET MVC. Background: I have a 5-page form, which saves data to the form each time "Next" is clicked. Users may navigate back and forth between sections, so previous sections will already be pre-populated with previously-entered data. This works for TextBoxes. But not DropDownLists.   Hello, I have a TextBox that has the TextChanged event set declaratively. In some cases, I want programmatically set this value. In these cases, I want to disable the TextChanged event until I'm done programmatically setting the value. Then, when I'm done, I want to restore the event handler to behave as it was. For a single TextBox, I know I can accomplish this by doing the following: myTextBox.TextChanged -= myTextBox_TextChanged; myTextBox.Text = "[Some Value]"; myTextBox.TextChanged += myTextBox_TextChanged; However, I want to write this functionality into a single method that can be accessed by several methods. For instance, I'm trying to do so something like the following private void UpdateTextValue(TextBox textBox, string newValue) { object eventHandler = textBox.TextChanged; textBox.TextChanged -= eventHandler; textBox.Text = newValue; textBox.TextChanged += eventHandler; } Unfortunately, this approach doesn't work. • jquery .append() not working for my html

  I have a program which appends an input(type="hidden") using jquery, to an html so that when I click the submit button, it passes the value to a php file and I can process it. However, it seems that the hidden type is not really being appended to the html nor it is being passed to the php file. I already used method="get" to see the values in the address bar and print_r to see the values being catched but there's nothing. To check if my form is actually passing a value, I added a <input type="hidden" name="absent[]" value="testing" /> in the HTML and the value got passed but the ones in the jquery aren't.
