  • Matching array elements to get an array element at another index

    I have a PHP array that I'm using to generate an HTML form. The PHP array is this: <?php $vdb = array ( array( "Alabama", 275), array( "Alaska", 197), array( "Arizona", 3322)); ?> The PHP to generate the HTML form is below. I need to have the value be the name of the state, because there is some AJAX I'm using to display which states a user has chosen. <?php echo "<table border='1'><thead><tr><th></th><th>State</th><th>Contacts</th><th>Email</th></tr></thead>"; for ($row = 0; $row < 42; $row++) { echo "<tr><td class='input_button'><input type='checkbox' name='vdb[]' value='".$vdb[$row][0]."' title='".$vdb[$row][1]."' /></td>"; echo "<td>".$vdb[$row][0]."</td>"; echo "<td>".$vdb[$row][1]."</td>"; } echo "</table>"; ?> What I'm trying to do is, on submission of the form, with the states the user selected, loop through the PHP array and total the numbers from the selected states. So if I checked Alabama and Alaska, I'd want to add 275 + 197. This is what I thought would have worked, but it's not: <?php $vendors = array(); if (isset($_POST["vdb"])) { $vendors = $_POST["vdb"]; } $ven_i = 0; $ven_j = 0; $ven_total = 0; foreach ($vendors as $value) { foreach ($vdb as $vdb_value) { if ($vendors[$ven_i] == $vdb[$ven_j][0]) { $ven_total += $vdb[$ven_j][1]; } $ven_j++; } $ven_i++; } ?> and then $ven_total should be the total I'm looking for. However, $ven_total just ends up being the first checkbox selected, and it ignores the rest. I am doing this correctly with the AJAX, displaying the total on the front end, but I don't know how to pass that on to the form submission. I'd rather not using GET and URL variables, because a user could type something into the URL and modify the count. Any idea what I'm doing wrong, or a better way to approach this that I would be able to understand? (Very much a novice programmer.)

I'm looking for the same functionality like in Firebug (where you can enable "persistent" and the console is not cleared every time you reload a page or submit a form. So, my questions is: is there a way to make Google Chrome JavaScript console persistent? (And if yes, how?)

  • How to make NetBeans IDE 6.8 show svn commit status (especially for "dirty" files)

    I just switched from Eclipse to NetBeans IDE 6.8 for my PHP/Ajax development. Eclipse always showed a little hard disk symbol over the file icon for files that were in sync with the svn repository, and an asterisk for files with changes that have not been committed. Is there a way to see the commit status in NetBeans? If not, what is your preferred way of recognizing which files to commit?

    I usually run Fiddler for net traffic monitoring and now am using a Mac machine. I thought Firebug's net tab can show the traffic that is fetched through AJAX (the net tab is enabled). But if I try google.com, and type in something, its "google suggest" will show a bunch of suggestions, but the Firebug's "net" tab is not showing anything?

  • How to keep current selection for jqGrid pulldown edit

    When editing cells in jqGrid, specifically using a select pull-down to edit a cell, how does one make the current selection the current choice for that cell? In my page I have a cell where edittype:'select' is set but when one clicks on that row the value for that cells automatically changes to the first entry that my AJAX call returns. Is there something within JQGrid that needs to be set or does the object I send to jqGrid have to be of a certain format to do so?

  • Can't sign into linkedin when using a QT4 (WebKit-based) browser?

    I started using the lightweight QT4 browser for some of the time on my Mac. Most simple websites, and even quite a few AJAX-heavy web apps, work for me flawlessly, including gmail (!) However, with LinkedIn, I can't even manage to sign in. Even when I change the useragent to one of a regular browser, it keeps kicking me out. Any ideas what could be wrong and for some workaround? However, I can't really see why it's better to use jQuery templates instead of simply fetching partial views via AJAX. It simply seems like the partial views would be much easier to maintain and helps to avoid duplication of code. I want to use jQuery templates. But when would it be better than partial views?

  • Radio button inside anchor element is reset after jQuery click handler

    I have a situation where an element, of type radio, is contained in an element. The anchor element has a href but I want to override that behaviour by adding a jQuery 'click' handler to the element. The click handler makes the radio button inside it the selected one within the group. This all works when the anchor is clicked, however, when the radio button is clicked it appears that jQuery resets the selected radio to the previously selected one!     The application on which I am working has a web service exposing various methods. Most of these methods use WebOperationContext.Current to set headers up to prevent cacheing. This works fine when the service methods are consumed in AJAX via the generated proxy, but when I attempt to do the same thing from code-behind, WebOperationContext.Current is null. Can anyone tell me how to confer appropriate call context on the method invocation?
