• what might cause a print error in perl?

  I have a long running script that every hour opens a file, prints to it and closes the file. I've recently found very rarely, the print is failing, not because I'm testing the status of the print itself but rather due to the fact of missing entries in the file until the system is actually rebooted! I do trap for file open failures and write a message to syslog when that happens and I'm not seeing any open failures so I'm now guessing it may be the print that is failing. I'm not trapping the print failures, which I suspect most people don't but am now going to update that one print. Meanwhile, my question is does anyone know what types of situations could cause a print statement to fail when there is plenty of disk storage and no contention for a file which has been successfully opened in append mode?

  I am getting this message: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault Please submit a full bug report, with preprocessed source if appropriate. See <file:///usr/share/doc/gcc-4.4/README.Bugs> for instructions. for every compilation that takes longer (ie: linux kernel, kde sources etc.) I've tried other OS (at that moment I was on Fedora 12, now on Debian; was a Suse also) and it didn't work. I've tried replacing my hard disk, since it needed an upgrade either ways - that didn't work either. I assumed that it's the RAM fault - tested them with memtest and it says they are fine. Does anyone know what else I can do in order to figure out where the problem is?

The overall error rate for DNS queries for your site is 40.0%. You can see more details about these errors in Webmaster Tools. Recommended action Contacted HostPapa and they deny that there is any issue with the site / server!!! Support in terms of what I can do to actually resolve this issue is non-existent!!!! The site is currently online. And I don't know much about DNS... so any advice about what I can do to resolve this problem would be much appreciated.

  I am trying to move messages from a rather large mailbox to an archive mailbox. However I run into errors all the time. the command I am executing is Export-Mailbox -Identity MAILBOX_FROM -TargetMailbox ARCHIVE -TargetFolder ARCHIVE_FOLDER -StartDate 2009-02-01 -EndDate 2009-02-28 -DeleteContent -Confirm:$false I can copy/move some messages, but run into frequent "an unknown error has occurred" (statuscode -1056749164) I run the console as administrative user, and all permissions are set right, as far as I can tell. I've restricted the start and end dates in case the number of messages moved/deleted should create problems. Anything I am missing in my setup? Corrupted messages? Over-limit message sizes?

• How to debug xsane "no devices available" error on 64 bit Ubuntu 10.04

  I have a Brother MFC-J615W printer/scanner and I wish to use the scanning feature across a network with a computer running 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04. I have installed the drivers from the Brother website and followed all of the instructions, and printing works fine, but xsane (installed from repositories) produces a popup with the message "no devices available" on startup. I recently had success with a similar approach when installing drivers for a Brother MFC-495CW on 32-bit Unbuntu 9.10, so I am aware of issues such as requiring root access if the driver permissions are not set correctly, but running xsane as root does not solve this problem. Are there any tools available to debug this problem further or does anyone have advice on how to proceed?

  I am working with a user that has Office 2007 installed. When they open excel with a blank workbook and then they try to close excel without having done anything, it gets hung for about a minute or two and then gives the warning message: "Microsoft Office Excel is waiting on another application to complete an OLE action." Has anyone ever seen this happen before? If so can you please help me figure out how to resolve this. It doesn't matter what excel file they open or if it is a blank/new workbook. Please Help.

  We have a dedicated server with software RAID1 and one of the disk failed recently. The disk was replaced but after rebuilding the array and rebooting the server freezes with a Kernel Panic message No filesystem could mount root, tried: reiserfs ext3 ext2 cramfs msdos vfat iso9660 romfs fuseblk xfs Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(9,1) The filesystem on both disks is ext4. It seems the kernel can't load ext4 support. Is there any way to add ext4 support or do I need to recompile a new kernel again ? Interesting point that before disk replacement all was fine.   This is a working Windows Server 2008 that I should install Active Directory on it. I found http://www.howtogeek.com/99323/ and followed the steps. After Additional Domain Controller Options, I'm asked the question "This computer has dynamically assigned IP addresses". As I see, the message states that Dynamic IP addressing has been used for the server, while this is wrong. When I come to Network And Sharing Center, and click on Local Area Connections - Properties - Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) - Properties, I see that the main IP address (as well as DNS Server) and also all other IP addresses are assigned statically. So it should be OK. I cannot believe any server using dynamic IP(s)! Note: No IPv6 has been set for the server. Please tell me why the error is given and which of the options available, should I choose? Note that it's a production server and is working with many users in WORKGROUP. No change should be affected nor to the IPs, neither to users connecting to the server.

  I pressed $, in order to sync mailbox, but mutt just quit... in fact mutt don't quit every time i press $, it only quits sometimes, so how to know the reason why mutt quit? is this a bug in mutt'? • uploading large files (mp4) to IIS 7.5 gives 500 Internal Server Error

  I made a website on which i need to be able to upload video files and it has worked for quite a while. However after a while it just stopped working and now it will give me the following IIS error message when i upload a video. Images do work (possibly due to their smaller size). I use an html form with PHP server sided script to upload. I have already set the user permissions for the entire inetpub to allow all actions for the IIS user. If you have any idea what it could be PLEASE tell me, have been trying to fix this for weeks now. Thanks in advance!

  I have a bluetooth USB, every time I enter the bluetooth, bluetooth is active only a few seconds, after which it can not be used again In 'devices and printer' there is still a bluetooth but if you want to save the settings it can not, there are error message or bluetooth is revoked. I am using windows 7, whereas if use Windows XP smoothly no problems. This not only happens on my computer alone, my friend who has a build-in bluetooth also experienced the same thing with the same OS. Is there a patch / fix / update for its Windows? • VirtualBox cloned Ubuntu Server network error

  I run a number of virtual servers on my network and I want to be able to easily clone base installations of Ubuntu Server. I use the VBoxManage command to clone the actual hard disk and I then create a new profile for my VM and copy over the settings of the original VM. However, when I boot into the cloned VM, there seems to be a network problem. When I issue a PING I get the message "Network unreachable". I traced it down to the fact that the virtual network card of the cloned VM has a different MAC address then the original VM. When I copy the MAC address the clone seems to work fine. How can I have the cloned VM have it's own MAC address?

• Deleted All Snapshots, Now Won't Boot VM with Snapshot not found error

  I've just tried deleting the snapshots from this virtual machine running ESXI5, so that I can grow the Thick Partition. I've now got the below error message when I try to start the VM, the VM also can't be grown above 0 MB i assume for the same reason as below. I've checked the datastore and the original VMDK is still there. Reason: The system cannot find the file specified. Cannot open the disk 'VM1-PG-000002.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. VMware ESX cannot find the virtual disk "VM1-PG-000002.vmdk". Verify the path is valid and try again. How do i tell ESXI5 to use the proper VMDK?

  We are having a terminal server ibm x3650 with 8 gb of RAM. On many occasions, at least once in a day, we get the error "The instruction at "0x7c8199b2" refrenced memory at "0x9ddc2ade". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program. Click on CANCEL to debug the program. I have surfed very many sites, microsoft included, but none of them have been able to give conclusive solution for ending this problem. When we press on ok or cancel, then our ERP application (VB-MS SQL) starts to work normally. till such time the message is there, all our reports are hanged (Business Objects reports). We have already installed all the drivers of printers on the TS. Can anyone help?

  my mac with lion starts up with the finder dispaying the message to "restore window" and keep on cycling thru it but never opening the finder window. other sites say that file/s in my desktop folder is corupt and i must delete them fith terminal. there is no way to open the terminal app in my normal user profile. i have created a test user profile with administative rights and that works fine but the problem is my normal desktop folder is locked and not accesiable in my test user account. how do is delete those files in my normal desktop folder with the terminal app?

• Error when starting Outlook 2007 on Windows 7

  Every time I start Outlook 2007 SP2 on my Windows 7 box Outlook will look like its loading fine, then I get this error message: cannot start microsoft office outlook. cannot open the outlook window and outlook will close. I was able to get outlook to start by using outlook.exe /resetnavpane in the Start-Search box, a nice tip which I got from this social.microsoft.com page. But it didn't fix the problem since outlook is still complaining when it starts after a reboot. What can I do to get outlook to startup normally?
