  • Combined sign in and registration page?

    This is somewhat against rails convention but I am trying to have one controller that manages both user session authentication and user registration. I am having troubles figuring out how to go about this. So far I am merging the User Controller and the Sessions Controller and having the 'new' method deliver both a new usersession and a new user instance. With the new routes in rails 3 though, I am having trouble figuring out how to generate forms for these items. I would like, however, the registration and login on the same page and have implemented this by doing the following: routes.rb match 'signup' => 'user#new' match 'login' => 'user#new' What's the best way to go about solving this?

  • Facebook Like Button (<fb:like>) Height Always 80px

    Why is the height of my Facebook Like button (technically the iframe that gets generated) always getting set to 80px? Example page is here: http://www.davidkasper.net/test.html I am using the javascript sdk and have had it work on other pages but for some reason the height will not change dynamically on this one! I can even do something like <fb:like style="height:40px"> and that will indeed set the visible height, but the iframe will still be 80px, whereas I can see it changing in the demo at http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like

  • IE8 Accordion menu is throwing out some weird bugs

    I have an accordion side menu in my latest project that works in all modern browsers properly, apart from ie8. In Ie8, using the menu and clicking results in random padding and margins to be added and sometimes disappear for no apparent reason. I can't find any bit of jquery code that would potentially cause this to happen which is a pain. Even more confusing is the fact that this doesn't happen in Ie7 =S Can anyone here replicate this bug, and see what the problem is? Project Demo to view in ie8

A jQuery plugin that allows the user to type a string of words, press enter, and it makes it a block of text, from there they can press the X to get rid of it, or type more key words into the input area. I've found many things that do this, but all are pulling information from a predefined list of choices.

The following works for one folder each, but not sure how to adapt to work for all folders.     i have a string like this: some_string = "A simple demo of SMS text messaging.\r\n+CMGW: 3216\r\n\r\nOK\r\n\" im coming from vb.net and i need to know in c#, if i know the position of CMGW, how do i get "3215" out of there? i know that my start should be the position of CMGW + 6, but how do i make it stop as soon as it finds "\r" ?? again, my end result should be 3216 thank you!

When you go to MS website you can download an exe. That then downloads the rest of the files. I have an offline pc, so I want to download it from a PC that is online, put it on a flash disc, and install it on the offline PC. Anyone that can point me in the right direction?

  • jQuery to hide and show divs with an indicator

    Using the jQuery below to toggle the hiding and showing of divs of text: how would I add some sort of indicator - like an up and down arrow as a graphic - to the titles when the divs are either open and closed? What's the best way to do that? Two images? A CSS sprite? And most importantly: how would that be integrated into the JS? I've looked at other jQuery that assigns a random number to each div and then determines which are open and which are closed and toggles one of two images. But I'm using php in a WordPress loop to show a posts, and that gives problems with incrementing in the loop, so there must be an easier way that doesn't require changes in the name of the title div. Thanks.... This JS fires the showing and hiding.     I have been looking around at web applications and websites with rich graphs, charts, and data visualization and for the most part have been able to determine which frameworks or tools websites are using. However I was looking over 'resumup.com' and couldn't determine what they are using. Does anyone know off hand or can you tell? It doesn't seem like any javascript framework i've seen unless its custom...is it some sort of flash or flex framework? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Marques
