  This will be the official name of the new release of Windows CE. Windows Embedded Compact 7 is available as a public CTP and it already supports a wide range of CPUs and both the device emulator and VirtualPC emulated environments. So I’ll have to learn a new (and longer) name for my favorite OS… but I (and all my two readers!) will be able to test it as soon as the download from connect web site completes (I'm sorry for my readers, but you'll have to download it by yourselves). • Set secondary receiver in PayPal Chained Payment after the initial transaction

  I'm running a service whereby customers seek the services of 'freelancers' through our web platform. The customer will make a 'bid' which is immediately taken from their accounts as security. Once the job is completed, the customer marks it as accepted and the bid gets distributed to the freelancer(s) as a reward. After initially storing these rewards in the accounts of the freelancers and relying on MassPay to sort out paying them later, I realised that your business needs to be turning over at least £5000/month before MassPay is switched on. Instead, I was referred to Delayed Chained Payments in PayPal's Adaptive Payments API. This allows the customer to pay the primary receiver (my business) before the payment is later triggered to be sent to the secondary receivers (the freelancers). However, at the time that the customer initiates this transaction, you must understand that nobody yet knows who will receive the reward. So, before I program this whole Adaptive Payments system, is it even possible to change or add the secondary receivers after the customer has paid? If not, what can I do?

  What I have? I have normal web application and it has 3 site collections with name, "PDirectory". Other than this I have only Central administration web application in the farm. What I want? I want to delete that web application, "PDirectory". What problem am I facing? I am not able to delete the web application. I get below error when I try to delete it but, the site collections got deleted! Error: An object in the SharePoint administrative framework, "SPWebApplication Name=XXX Parent=SPWebService", could not be deleted because other objects depend on it. Update all of these dependants to point to null or different objects and retry this operation. • Upgrading to x64 results in HTTP 500

  I upgraded my development machine to 64-bit Win7, and now when I try to connect to a local ASP.Net project I get: HTTP Error 500 ... Calling LoadLibraryEx on ISAPI filter "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\aspnet_filter.dll" failed There are several puzzling things about this; the ASP.Net project was a .Net 2.0 ASMX so it was using C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727. If it updated to x64 without asking me, should it not use C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\? Where is C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\ coming from? I opened IIS Manager and the selected .Net Framework version for my machine is 2.0.50727. Framework version for my default application pool is the same. I am developing in VS2008, which does not even have an option for targeting .Net 4.0.

• Architectural advice - websockets javascript/php integration

  Myself and a friend have started making a game, he's likely to be using impact.js for the user interaction etc, but we need multiplayer functionality so some form of websockets for TCP connections etc. So we were thinking impact.js into socket.io and node.js. However, user accounts, ecommerce, session handling and social media integration will all be handled with Codeigniter (PHP), my question is, is it wise to have node.js running in parallel with Codeigniter, or if this is even possible? If not, if you were to create a multiplayer online game utilising ecomms to buy credits and user accounts, how would you go about this from a structural position and what engines/frameworks would you recommend? I'm new to this site so I apologise in advance if I'm posting something inappropriate. Cheers, Ewan

• Exchange 2010 update timezone of all calendar items

  We are currently operating Exchange 2010 server with Outlook 2010 clients on a ship. We have just changed timezones for the first time in quite a while today. Is there any way to rebase all the calendars and/or update all the calendar items to the new timezone at the same time? I have looked at the following tools already. Microsoft Exchange Calendar Update Configuration Tool - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6266 (Doesn't support exchange 2010) Time Zone Data Update Tool for Microsoft Office Outlook - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17291 The Time Zone Data Update Tool for Microsoft Office Outlook does work for individual users, but has some serious downsides. Including each user needs to run it (approx 400 users), and also it only seems to work on the default account in Outlook 2010, a lot of our users have role accounts as well that we would need to run the tool on. The only way I can find to get this tool to run on the role accounts is to make the role account the default account in outlook, and that in itself is quiet an involved process especially if you have 2 or 3 role accounts. So is there a way to just change all calendar items on our Exchange server to a different timezone in one go? We are a little unique in terms of the whole organisation can change timezones over night, meeting rooms and all, but surely a product as advanced as Exchange 2010 allows us to do what we need.

• Why are my Windows 7 updates continuously failing?

  I'm an advanced level user here with an odd issue. I have two Windows Updates that are failing to install, every single time. I'm getting a mysterious "Code 1" error on both updates, an error for which I'm having difficulty finding a solution. The updates in question are: Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538243) System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [May 2011] Because these updates are failing, the Shut Down button in my start menu always has the shield icon next to it, indicating that "new" updates will be installed on shut down. But, of course, they'll fail and when the PC is restarted, the shield icon is still there. Although after this nothing happens... When I open the messenger nothing comes up and in Online Accounts it still asks: Please authorize Ubuntu to access your Facebook account... but I have already given permission... Please help me out.   Hi all, I have seen a couple of questions like this one and scanned through the answers but somehow the replies were not satisfactory or practical. So i wondered maybe people who have gone through it and may suggest a better approach for the preparation of this exam. Goal: My goal is actually NOT merely to pass that exam. I intend to actually master the skill. I have been into asp.net web development for approximately 1.5 years and I want to study something that really improves "Design and Development Skills" in Web Development in general and asp.net to be specific which i can put to use and build upon that. Please suggest a book that teaches professional Asp.Net design and development skills and approaches to quality development by taking through practice design scenarios and their solutions and through various case studies that involve design problems and their implemented solutions. Edit: I have found the Micorosoft training kits to be fairly interesting and helpful as these tend to increase knowledge. I have utilized a lot of things after getting a good explanation of things from the training kits. However, as far as Microsoft Training Kit for 70-564 is concerned, there are not a lot of good reviews about it. What i have read and searched on the net , the reviews on amazon and various forums, stack-exchange and experts-exchange, were more inclined to the conclusion that "Microsoft Training Kit for Exam 70-564 is not good. Its is not good as compared to other kits from Microsoft, like as compared to the training kit of Exam 70-562 or others." So i was looking for a proper book containing examples from practical world scenarios and case studies from which i can not only learn but also master the skills before wasting money of Microsoft Training Kit for Exam 70-564. Waiting for experts to provide a suitable advice.

• No other users can access external hdd since upgrade to 12.10

  Since upgrading to Ubuntu 12.10 no other user can access the external hdd. This is awkward as its a family pc and we use the hdd to store music and save backups across the several accounts. The external hdd seems to mount just to my account now, i.e. /media/[user1]/[ext hdd], and while all the other users can see the drive mounted they can not access as they just receive a file location error. From their perspective it is mounted just in my profile and not in theirs. I have tried editing the properties of the hdd to allow others to view and create files on the hdd but that has not changed anything. I have also read that this is a new feature to Ubuntu 12.10, the way it mounts via /media/[user]/. So is there a way to have it mount to all the other user accounts too? Thanks!

• DNS record reappears after having been deleted

  I've got a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 acting as a domain controller for a small network. It provides DHCP and DNS among a few other services. It's only got a single NIC, but it's configured with two IP addresses. I want it's name to resolve to one of the two IP addresses assigned to its NIC. I've unchecked "Register this connection's addresses in DNS" under the "Advanced TCP/IP Settings". Currently we've got two distinct DNS Host (A) records for this domain controller: dc-001 - 10.0.0.1 dc-001 - 10.0.100.1 I've deleted the first entry but it continues to reappear in my dnsmgmt snap-in. Unfortunately I'm not a Microsoft systems administrator by trade. Does anyone familiar with Microsoft server environments know why a deleted Host (A) record would reappear? Is there another check-box I need to toggle? Thanks in advance to all of you Microsoft experts out there.

• Is doing AB Tests using site redirection a bad practice?

  I'm developing hotels websites here in Brazil. When the site is done, we do an AB test with the old version to measure conversion and show to the hotel owner how good our site is. Due to the fact that I cannot put the old site inside the new one as a subresource (newone.com/old), currently I'm doing those AB test as follows: 1) I create 2 Google Analytics accounts, one for each site (old and new); 2) I put the GA tags in the old website pages (changing its possibly existent GA ID to the just created one); 3) I put an Javascript code that redirects the user to the old website (in a different URL and different domain) with 50% of probability. So I compare all the metrics, events and goals between those two GA accounts. How bad is it? How Google can interpretate the fact of being, sometimes redirected, sometimes don't? The experiment usually runs for 2 weeks. Is there any other alternative for doing this in a better way?

• Why are Rules not applied to additional mailboxes when using Outlook 2007 and Exchange?

  Hi, I've set up a few rules in Microsoft Outlook 2007. Outlook 2007 is configured to use my Microsoft Exchange account. In the Microsoft Exchange settings, I've set up two additional mailboxes, Inbox1 and Inbox2. Thus, using Microsoft Exchange I now have three mailboxes: Inbox, Inbox1 and Inbox2. The rules I've set up all work fine for mails arriving in the Inbox. However, they do not work at all for mails arriving in either Inbox1 or Inbox2. Do anyone perhaps know why this is, and perhaps what I could to to solve this? Thanx in advance!

• why can't i delete this file on my pc

  i am trying to install some software and it requires removing the following file: cd %SYSTEMROOT%\assembly\GAC rename Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Old the problem is when i do the rename it looks like its successful but it doesn't seem to actually delete Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook i tried to explicitally do: del Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook and again it looks like it works but then when i do a "dir" i still see that file. Do you have any suggestions on why this wouldn't allow me to delete this file. I have outlook closed when i am doing this so i wouldn't think outlook is locking the file.

  I have 18 updates appearing for Windows 7 x64 but when I try to install any of them I get the error 800706BE. The Microsoft help that appears gives several solutions: Fix It button. This downloads MicrosoftFixit50123.msi from http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9666880 (963KB). After running it displays the message "This Microsoft Fix It has been processed". System Update Readiness Tool. This is actually in response to error 800B0100 which isn't the one I'm seeing. You download the file from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-is-the-System-Update-Readiness-Tool (362 MB). After running it says "Do you want to install the following Windows software update: Hotfix for Windows (KB947821)"

  I recently learned that a fully qualified domain name ends in a dot, e.g. www.microsoft.com.. Why do I almost never see this? We casually toss around www.microsoft.com, a relative domain name, without a second thought. It's not mere pedantry, because it seems there's a security issue: someone in your network could create www.microsoft.com.example.com. to hijack your requests to www.microsoft.com. Why doesn't the internet community have a tradition of using genuinely fully qualified domain names?
