• Configure Postfix to Port other than 25

  I've done quite a bit of googling on how to reconfigure postfix to work on a different port, but I still can't fond the line(s) people keep talking about in my master.cf. I'm using OS X Mountain Lion, and my ISP blocks traffic both ways on port 25. people have said to look for a line that says smtp inet n - n - - smtpd I can't find it. • XFCE: active panel buttons when mouse is on screen edge

  I'm using XFCE 4.6.1 (Xubuntu distribution) on my laptop and main computer; the settings are approximately the same. so far for the intro. What I'm experiencing is that when going to the screen edge over the task bar on the laptop, the button under the mouse is active. On the main machine however, having the mouse on the screen edge, the button below it doesn't react at all! Only if I move the pointer towards the center a bit, the hover highlight starts and the button becomes clickable. I've tried to change the panel size, desktop theme and a few other settings, but none seems to cure that problem. Is there something that causes this problem? (Googling also seems to give no results)

• Do I need to buy Mysql cluster enterprise edition?

  Hello, we have a ms-sql 2008 standard edition. The db became too huge, about 8 10^9 records.the db files are about 4.5tb each. We cannot effort us to get enterprise edition to slice the database. We need partitioning. So the idea is to use Mysql cluster with many datanodes. We already started to move data. I wondered do we need to buy a licens for mysqlcluster?are there performance difference between community edition and commercial one? Thanks Arman.

• Best approach to utilize RamDisk for Chrome?

  I use a lot of tabs and after a while less recently opened tabs take some time to become responsive, which I guess is because they're being un-cached to HDD as they're not required. So after creating a Ram-Disk I have two options, use --disk-cache-dir="G:/" switch to do what it does. Or what I'm currently doing: using a directory junction for "[...]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default" to move that entire folder over to Ram-Disk. I thought this would be better than just disk-cache but what do I know. Is it? As one can guess it'll be a pain saving/loading the Ram-Disk image each time I start chrome but if it really is better than the former approach I'll write a script or something.

• Custom dedicated email server combined with Amazon AWS?

  Hi there. We are considering moving our servers to Amazone EC2 cloud. The only thing that stops right now is their problems with ip ranges banned from spam mail lists like SORBS. We are considering leaving one dedicated server in our current hosting, the one which we use to send mail (and other several features we will move to EC2), in order to be able to send the mails from this smtp server instead from Amazon. So, the idea is to have our sites hosted in EC2, and when they need to send mail, redirect they to our "local" smtp server. Do you think it´s viable? Can you think on a better solution? • What version of SCO Open Server are guys using out there and on what hardware?

  I have some old applications which are running on SCO Open Server 5.0.5, and i would love to move them to SCO Open Server 5.0.7 and on modern hardware(servers), currently am running SCO on old IBM PL 300 personal computer, on 92MB Memory, one processor, and it has been serving the clients pretty well. Now i have New Modern IBM xseries Servers and i would love to migrate the same applications to those new servers. Problem is, SCO 5.0.5 is unable to detect some of the hardware components in the new servers. I read somewhere that SCO 5.0.7 is able to detect the newer hardware even the USB ports etc. Is there anyone running SCO Openserver out there, and on what hardware architecture are they running on? • Word 2010 not printing body text on pages with images

  I've got a document exhibiting bizarre behavior -- when I print, the body text style is only displayed on pages without images. Headings, header and footer, and captions are printing on the page, along with any graphics such as border styles applied to the style, but the text itself doesn't print -- except for en dashes. The text is pretty basic -- a justified Calibri style. Images are their own style, a centered paragraph item. There's no floating image boxes or text boxes going on, everything's a paragraph style. It's not a print driver issue. I get identical behavior on both a HP and Brother laser printer. It's also not a paragraph-level style issue; I've inserted enough dummy text to move a printing paragraph on a page with no images to the next page, which has an image, and the paragraph does not print on the next page. Has anyone run into an issue like this and knows the solution?

• Windows 2008 R2 File Sharing - 'Access denied' if groups are specified in ACL

  I am trying to move our old Windows 2003 File Server to Windows 2008 R2. What I have noticed, however, is that the entries for groups in the ACL are being ignored. For example, a user is part of a group in active directory. If I create a folder and enable full access for this group, then share this folder (and define sharing permissions for this group), users in that group do not get access to that folder. If I make an entry in the ACL for the user itself, it works perfectly. These even applies to my domain administrator account - If I create a folder and give full control to the local administrators group / domain administrators group, and I physically log on to the server, I still do not get access - I need to explicitly define my name to proceed. I am not sure what the problem is, tried looking it up in Google to no avail Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

  I shrunk my windows partition and now have 10 GB of unallocated space that I now want to use to grow my / partition which is an ext4 in an lvm. I'm running Fedora 12. I ran system-config-lvm but the "Initialize Entry" button is greyed out. The unallocated space is not adjacent to the lvm but I cannot move the partitions in GParted like I was able to with ext3 in the past. I cannot create a new partition either as it says it cannot have more than 4 primary partitions. I don't see any option to create an extended partition. So my question is, how do I add that unallocated space to the lvm so I can grow the size of the / partition? I don't want to reinstall Fedora.

  Lets say I opened file1.txt, file2.txt, file3a.txt and file3b.txt such that the tabline (the thing on the top) looks like this: file1.txt file2.txt 2 file3a.txt (Note how file3b.txt. is missing because it is shown in a split, in the same tab as file3a.txt) To move more quickly between tabs (with <Number>gt), I would like each tab to display its index, along the filename. Like so: 1:<file1.txt> 2:<file2.txt> 3:<2 file3a.txt> The formatting (the angle braces in particular) are optional; I just want the index to appear there (the 1:, 2: and so on). No clues on :h tab-page-commands or google whatsoever.

• Picasa "sync to web" folders losing sync when they are moved

  I've been using the Picasa "sync to web" feature but recently noticed that several folders, with a lot of synced photos and videos inside them, lost their synced status as soon as I moved them to another location on the disk (not through the Picasa "move folder" command). These folders now still appear with the green arrow indicating that their contents were uploaded, but they lost the blue sync icon they previously had (and are no longer syncing...). If I try to reactivate the "sync to web" option for these folders, Picasa starts re-uploading ALL of their contents. This is absurd.. and would take ages to complete. Is there any way I can somehow get Picasa to recognize these moved folders as the counterpart folder of an existing online folder for sync purposes?

• CUPS basic auth error through web interface

  I'm trying to configure CUPS to allow remote administration through the web interface. There's enough documentation out there that I can figure out what to change in my cupsd.conf (changing Listen localhost:631 to Port 631, and adding Allow @LOCAL to the /, /admin and /admin/conf sections). I'm now at the point where I can see the CUPS interface from another machine on the same network. The trouble is, when I try to Add Printer, I'm asked for a username and password, but my response is rejected even when I know I've gotten it right (I assume it's asking for the username and password of someone in the lpadmin group on the server machine; I've sshed in with credentials its rejecting, and the user I'm using has been added to the lpadmin group). If I disable auth outright, by changing DefaultAuthType Basic to DefaultAuthType None, I get an "Unauthorized" error instead of a password request when I try to Add Printer. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way of letting users from the local network to administer the print server through the CUPS web interface? • Fedora 11 System - Failed Hard Drive Removed, and Boot gets GRUB Hard Disk Error

  Greetings, I have a machine with a 120GB ATA drive that has what I thought to be non-essential data on it. I also have a 320GB SATA hard drive with the OS/Application/Files (good data I want to keep). My 120GB ATA is failing I believe, as my computer kept slowing to a halt. However, when I move the drive from BIOS my computer will not start, says "GRUB Hard Disk Error". I know that my Fedora system has an LVM setup. I am looking to just remove the 120GB drive from "the mix", and just have one hard drive. How do I recover ? Thank you. I have access to a Linux Live CD right now and can make any changes. However, it won't boot into my OS - it fails.

• How to mark received sites as read in StumbleUpon toolbar?

  In stumbleupon toolbar for Firefox there is a "92" text is displayed in above pic, these are basically sites sent to me by my stumbleupon friends, so whenever I have sites from my friends, there in the toolbar and when I clicks the Stumble button then it shows those sites to me instead any new site. You can say these are link are like new mails, so there are 92 new mails for me, but I don't want to check those I just want to mark them as read in a single click, and move further to read other old mails. So Is there any option to mark these sites (sent to me by my SU friends) as read, so that when I click Stumble button then new sites will be shown instead sites which are sent by my friends??

• virt-viewer slower than virt-manager when viewing

  I've got a thin client server in which I have a few VM's for users under KVM which I manage through virt-manager. What I've noticed is if I start a VM guest on a thin client using the command 'virt-viewer ' then the guest is painfully slow to move around. However if on the same thin client I start the same guest VM through virt-manager it's fast. What are the differences here? Can I start a VM without having the user load up virt-manager and double click on their VM? Should I be looking at using splice in virt-viewer instead of VNC which is what I currently use?

I have tried that Fn + Right arrow on Mac works as "END" key on Windows -- which makes cursor move to the end of line, for most application like Word for Mac -- I have tried it works. But I tried Fn + Right Arrow does not work for current question input box of SuperUser. I am wondering how to solve this issue and why? • Keyboard shortcut to quickly jump to the URL address field in Firefox...

  Hi, in Firefox I very often want to quickly enter a new URL in the address field. Therefore it would be very nice to be able to quickly jump to the URL address field with a keyboard shortcut! Today I must move my mouse and place the cursor in that field and also ensure that the current address is selected so I can overwrite it when entering the new URL. Very annoying! I'm sure I'm not the first one to have this need so there is probably a shortcut or an extension that does this already, but I cannot find that information! Thanks in advance, /James

• What Hypervisors support non-homogenous clusters?

  I've been using Citrx Xenserver for awhile on a few machines that don't support Hardware Virtualization as a test for various small servers. I recently have been experimenting with moving the PV Vms between machines but Xenserver gives me errors that roughly say I need to have homogenous hardware for this to work. Because of this I haven't been able to setup XenMotion or any of the nice features that come with server pooling in Xenserver. I'm considering moving away from XenServer, however I can't seem to find a Hypervisor that explicitly supports non-homogenous clusters. On a side note, we do have a few idenitally configured Dell 1950s that haven't had any VM solution setup on yet, so if we can find a solution that can allow us to move PVs to those as well that would be great. Non free solutions are OK as well. What hypervisor will allow this? Thanks!

• Using Subversion with SQL Server Management Studio

  I am a member of a team with 3 developers. We have started using Redmine here for project management and issue tracking and LOVE it. I have seen elsewhere how nicely Redmine can work when a back-end repository is set up for a project. There is nice integration all around. This shop is currently .Net and SQL Server 2005. I am thinking about recommending a move to Subversion for our VCS (so that we can integrate with Redmine). I have seen a product called VisualSVN which will make it possible to use Visual Studio with Subversion, so that covers .Net. But the other big question is if it is possible to configure SQL Server Management Studio to somehow use Subversion for its VCS. Has anyone done this? This shop is currently using Sourcegear Fortress.

• Router stopping my python server

  This was originally posted in stackoverflow.com but it was suggested I move it here after it was realized it wasn't my code that was wrong. So my problem, very simply, is that I cannot get my computers that are connected to my router to communicate. example: If I ping a wireless computer I get no responce and the Request times out If I ping a computer wired to the modem directly it works fine.   Is there a Windows 7 Explorer keyboard shortcut to set focus to files/folders/content area (depicted below)? This has bothered me for so long... I want to set my explorer window's focus to the files pane (shown below). What's the most efficient way to do that with a keyboard? Here's what I've been doing: - Tab / Shift+Tab to move focus through interactive window elements until it looks like a selection rectangle appears over one of the files in my window. - Alt+V, Alt+D to change appearance setting of a folder contents' icons. Doesn't always work, depending on what's selected at the time.

• How to Remove a VM From Hyper-V Without Deleting the Configuration File?

  I'm in the process of moving a number of virtual machines that are homed on shared storage (a file share, though shared cluster disk would work as well) to a new VM host with access to the same shared storage. The new host is a different build version (moving from Windows Server 2012 Beta to Windows Server 2012 RC - though this same process could be used with migrations of Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 to Windows Server 2012 as well), so I cannot migrate the machine with inbox tooling. I need to remove the VM from management of the source Hyper-V host in order to import the VM to the new Hyper-V host. I want to retain the configuration file, so I can import the VM as it stands and not need to reconfigure it. The VHD files are rather large and they are staying on the same file share, so I'd rather not duplicate them during the move process.
