  • HTML Agility Pack Screen Scraping XPATH isn't returning data

    I'm attempting to write a screen scraper for Digikey that will allow our company to keep accurate track of pricing, part availability and product replacements when a part is discontinued. There seems to be a discrepancy between the XPATH that I'm seeing in Chrome Devtools as well as Firebug on Firefox and what my C# program is seeing. I'll also add that if I do a "SelectNodes" on the baseNode it only returns a div... not sure what that indicates but it doesn't seem right.

  • The width of items in select box is different in IE 8, Firefox and Google Chrome

    I have a problem with the select box in my application. I specified some width to the select box. The width of some of the items in the select box is more than the actual width of the select box. Each browser is treating it differently. I can see a shrink of the select box items in IE 8. Whereas google chrome and firefox takes the maximum width of the items in the select box. I want to control the width of the select box. Is there any way to do this ?

  • ASP.NET DataList - defining "columns/rows" when repeating horizontal and using flow layout

    Here is my DataList: <asp:DataList id="DataList" Visible="false" RepeatDirection="Horizontal" Width="100%" HorizontalAlign="Justify" RepeatLayout="Flow" runat="server"> [Contents Removed] </asp:DataList> This generates markup that has each item wrapped in a span. From there, I'd like to break each of these spans out into rows of three columns. Ideally I would like something like this: <div> <span>Item 1</span> <span>Item 2</span> <span>Item 3</span> </div> <div> <span>Item 4</span> <span>Item 5</span> <span>Item 6</span> </div> [etc] The closest I can get to this is to set RepeatColumns to "3" and then a <br> is inserted after every three items in the DataList. <span>Item 1</span> <span>Item 2</span> <span>Item 3</span> <br> <span>Item 4</span> <span>Item 5</span> <span>Item 6</span> <br> This gets me kind of close, but really doesn't do the trick - I still can't control the layout the way I'd like to be able to. Can anyone suggest a way to make this better? If I could implement the above example - that would be perfect, however I'd accept a less elegant solution as well - as long as its more flexible than <br> (such as inserting a <span class="clear"></span> instead of <br>).

    I'm trying to do a seemingly simple webpage layout, but I'm hitting a wall. I'd like to do everything purely with CSS (no tables to much things up, and no javascript dynamically resizing things) I'd like to have: A heading with a fixed height A footer with a fixed height Left sidebar with a fixed width Right sidebar with a fixed width The whole layout always fills the entire viewport (i.e. if the user resizes the window, the layout grows to the new size) Put another way: |< Total width is 100% of viewport >| +--------------------------------------------------------------+ --- | Header with a fixed height | ^ |--------+-------------------------------------------+---------+ | | | | | | | | | Left | | Right | Total | with | Center grows in height/width | with | height | fixed | and has scrollbars if necessary | fixed | is | width | | width | 100% | | | | of | | | | viewport | | | | |--------+-------------------------------------------+---------| | Footer with a fixed height | v +--------------------------------------------------------------+ --- The parts that are giving me the most trouble are Having the sidebars and center have a height equal to the height of the viewport minus the heights of the header and footer Having the center have a width equal to the width of the viewport minus the widths of the two sidebars I have no problem requiring users to have a modern browser.   • Embedded pdf object steals focus and will not let it go

    Hi guys, I was given the task of adding some usability to one of our applications, ie. make sure that every controll has a shortcut key, and that they can be reached by "tabbing" through the page. The gui runs in a IE. control on a winform, and consists of asp.net pages, so basically it is just asp.net always running in internet explorer. My problem is that one of the pages has an embeded pdf in it, like so: <object tabindex="-1" height="273" width="663" visible="false" type="Application/pdf" data="showpdf.ashx#navpanes=0"></object> showpdf.ashx is an httphandler, that streams the pdf contents to the response. It does not handle focus in any way. Now when I run this page, the pdf application steals focus, no matter what I do to set it to another control. And when it takes focus, I cannot take it back with the keyboard. Only a mouseclick on the page will set it to another control. I have tried to set focus in code behind OnPreRender, or in jevescript, but no luck. It seems that the http handler always runs after all the other code, and it sets focus on the pdf object. Any thought would be greatly appreciated.

    I know that there are some caching classes introduced in the iphone sdk recently, and there is also a TTURLRequest from three20's library that allows you to cache a request to a URL. However, because I am loading the web page in UIWebView by calling UIWebView's loadRequest, those techniques are not really applicable. Any ideas how I can save a web page so that on next app launch, I don't have to fetch from the web again for the full page? The page itself already have some ajax mechanism that updates parts of itself automatically.

I'm editing my file using Visual Studio--not sure if that helps. Warning Byte-Order Mark found in UTF-8 File. The Unicode Byte-Order Mark (BOM) in UTF-8 encoded files is known to cause problems for some text editors and older browsers. You may want to consider avoiding its use until it is better supported.

    Hello All, What I am trying to do is display a simple web page in my application (no javascript,cookies or any scripting and not trying to detect any events such as mouse click etc.). I am using the code below and right now all I get is empty screen .. I know that the application is accessing the internet (the data transfer arrow flashes in the top right corner) but not sure why its not rendering.   • Vb.Net web browser control not firing document complete with AJAX web site.

    The VB.Net desktop app uses the IE browser control to navigate the web. When a normal page loads the document_complete event fires and I can read the resulting page and go from there. The issue I am having is that the page I am driving is written with AJAX, so the document complete event never fires. Furthermore, when you view the source of the page after it loaded a new portion via AJAX, it hasn't change. How are people handling this? What are my options?

    I have integrated my Colorbox, the set up is as follows: MAIN PAGE:   IFRAME     COLORBOX LINK But I have it so, you click the COLORBOX LINK and it opens the Colorbox in the parent page (MAIN PAGE). Now, the problem I have is that the Close button is stuck inside this pageframe. Is there anyway I can have a Close Button outside of the Colorbox and to have the Colorbox Close Button open seperately? sigh, deary me...

  • Checkbox onclick not firing

    Hey Guys - I'm at my wit's end with this. Can anyone see anything wrong with this line? The function won't fire by clicking on the checkbox for some reason, but the calling function works fine (if I copy the exact "onclick" attribute over to the label for the checkbox, it works fine). <input type="checkbox" name="match_35_0" id="match_35_0d" value="d0" onclick="checkSwap(document.page_form.match_35_0d, document.page_form.match_35_0)"></input> If anyone can see why on earth this wouldn't be working, I would really appreciate it.   • IE Display Bug, jQuery bug

    So I built some complex ajaxy jquery module on my homepage, with the help of "scrollable" from flowplayer.org. It works fine for me on Chrome, Opera, Firefox ... but of course IE is not playing friendly (regardless of the version, from my testing). Objects are not displaying exactly where they should, some are overlaying each other, and when a click a button some divs just disappear. However, if I resize the IE browser window up and down, the display mostly fixes itself. Then if I click on one of the buttons I made, it messes it up again. Until I resize the window again and it looks fine. (note the forceshowIE=1, because by default I hide it for IE people) I was thinking maybe there is a way to force IE to redraw the entire module sometimes? Now you "bust" or break out of any containing iframe automatically. Except for one small problem. As it turns out, your frame-busting code can be busted, as shown here: <script type="text/javascript"> var prevent_bust = 0 window.onbeforeunload = function() { prevent_bust++ } setInterval(function() { if (prevent_bust > 0) { prevent_bust -= 2 window.top.location = 'http://server-which-responds-with-204.com' } }, 1) </script> This code does the following: increments a counter every time the browser attempts to navigate away from the current page, via the window.onbeforeonload event handler sets up a timer that fires every millisecond via setInterval(), and if it sees the counter incremented, changes the current location to a server of the attacker's control that server serves up a page with HTTP status code 204, which does not cause the browser to nagivate anywhere My question is -- and this is more of a JavaScript puzzle than an actual problem -- how can you defeat the frame-busting buster? I had a few thoughts, but nothing worked in my testing: attempting to clear the onbeforeunload event via onbeforeonload = null had no effect adding an alert() stopped the process let the user know it was happening, but did not interfere with the code in any way; clicking OK lets the busting continue as normal I can't think of any way to clear the setInterval() timer I'm not much of a JavaScript programmer, so here's my challenge to you: hey buster, can you bust the frame-busting buster?

    Hi, I am building a web scraping application. It should scrape a complex web site with concurrent HttpWebRequests from a single host to a single target web server. The application should run on Windows server 2008. One single HttpWebRequest for data could take from 1 minute to 4 minutes to complete (because of long running db operations) I should have at least 100 parallel requests to the target web server, but i have noticed that when i use more then 2-3 long-running requests i have big performance issues (request timeouts/hanging). How many concurrent requests can i have in this scenario from a single host to a single target web server? can i use Thread Pools in the application to run parallel HttpWebRequests to the server? will i have any issues with the default outbound HTTP connection/requests limits? what about Request timeouts when i reach outbound connection limits? what would be the best setup for my scenario? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    i cannot seem to find the answer to this. i uploaded code to pastebin (so wouldnt clutter up the post): http://pastebin.com/BhnNTnJM but the action only changes for the delete form (id=form-horse-delete) and not the other 2 forms located on the page. i am at my wits end trying to figure out why it doesn't work for the 2 forms, yet will work for the 1 form. in IE, if i try and change the action of the 2 forms, it gives a javascript error. but if i take out the change, it works fine with no javascript error.

The questions are as follows: Is there a serious processing overhead if I were to include these items in EVERY page (like in the Site.Master for example) thus negating the need for the HtmlHelper to organise the "includes" - considering there would end up being about 20 includes for all the different types of jQuery UI widgets used throughout the site. If the HtmlHelper sorts out the "includes", it will add one every time this DatePicker is used (often there are two on a page) Does anyone have a way of determining whether or not the user has already rendered the same type of control on the page, thus not re-including the same jquery libraries when multiple instances of the DatePicker (for example) are used?

    When I try to place an element on top of my jQuery Cycle element, it doesn't work. The element is always behind the jQuery cycle element. I use float: right; to position the element, and set its z-index to 100000, to no avail. Firebug sees the Cycle element and its children as having low z-indexes, and shows the floating element to be in the right place. So, if I had the following code: <a href="#"> Select Me </a> <a href="#"> <img src="blah.jpg" /> Don't select me </a> <a href="#"> <div>Don't select me either</div> <img src="blah.jpg" /> </a> <a href="#"> <div>You can select me too.</div> </a> I would like it to select the first and fourth tags. From what I could tell, by using: $("a:first-child") Won't select the first tag because it doesn't have any children (just text). The second tag should not get selected so something like: $("a:first-child").not("img) but that leaves out the first item. EDIT: If there is an IMG anywhere in the A element, don't select it.

On modification, the thumbnail row under the slideshow is now separated from the slideshow and the thumbs are not centered.
