    In VB.NET, it is entirely possible to pass an integer as a string parameter to a method without calling .ToString() - it's even possible to call .ToString without the ()'s. The code will run without a problem, VB will interpret the integer as a string without having been told to. In C#, these would cause compilation errors - you are required to call .ToString() and to call it correctly in that situation before it will compile. Is there a way to make the VB compilation process check for the same things as the C# compilation process? Would it be best practice in a mixed team to force this check?

    Hello, I have a stored procedure, which has got executed without any errors, but gives me an error "#1054: Unknown column 'templateName' in where clause" when I run it. The stored procedure is delimiter // DROP PROCEDURE getData// CREATE DEFINER=root@localhost PROCEDURE getData(IN templateName VARCHAR(45),IN templateVersion VARCHAR(45),IN userId VARCHAR(45)) BEGIN set @version = CONCAT("SELECT 'saveOEMsData_answersVersion' FROM saveOEMsData where 'saveOEMsData_templateName' = ",templateName," and 'saveOEMsData_templateVersion' = ",templateVersion," and 'saveOEMsData_userId'= ",userId); PREPARE s1 from @version; EXECUTE S1; END // delimiter ; Now I call it using "call getData('templateName','1','285');". And whenever I call it, I get the mentioned error. What could the problem be?? It surely is syntactical, I have been reading the mysql manuals for 2 days and have come out without!!     I have been struggling with this all day and I know it is probably something stupid. My code is below. If I call save then exit my program and start again I can save images to my events but if I just call save when I try to add an image and call save again I get a foreign key error. From what I know I thought my save method was updating the database from my dataset so the event associated with the image should exist. Anyway here is my save method...     Assume there are Java project and Junit project in an Eclipse workspace. And All the unit tests are located in the Junit project and dependent on the application Java project.     Background: I have a game (an old-school-esque MUD) which I've been attempting to profile with gprof. The documentation of gprof (on Linux 2.6) states that The profiled program must call "exit"(2) or return normally for the profiling information to be saved in the gmon.out file. Now, if I kill the server with the shutdown command, the application "returns normally" (i.e., main() returns) and I get a gmon.out to analyze. However, it's far more common to reboot the server. The reboot command does the following: Writes usernames and socket FD numbers to disc. Makes a call to execl(). The new process looks for the stored data, picks up the FDs, and moves on. I see the following error on the command line, as the whole process fails: Profiling timer expired ./program Question: Is it possible to get a gmon.out file from the execl()-calling process? Perhaps some environmental parameter to execl(), or else perhaps a different, gprof-friendly, system call to achieve the same effect (beginning a new process while preserving file descriptors)?

    I have a string S. How can I find if the string follows S = nT. Examples: Function should return true if 1) S = "abab" 2) S = "abcdabcd" 3) S = "abcabcabc" 4) S = "zzxzzxzzx" But if S="abcb" returns false. I though maybe we can repeatedly call KMP on substrings of S and then decide. eg: for "abab": call on KMP on "a". it returns 2(two instances). now 2*len("a")!=len(s) call on KMP on "ab". it returns 2. now 2*len("ab")==len(s) so return true Can you suggest any better algorithms?
