  Hi, I asked this question on MSDN forum but there was no response.. Maybe I had posted in the wrong forum... So I'm posting it again here, hoping that someone might be able to help me out here... I am trying to run Disk Cleanup in the command prompt (and through a C# program) and so I went through all the available options from this link : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315246 While I am just trying to understand what I can do, it would be good if someone could explain why the drive option /d cannot be set while specifying /sagerun:n Or is it possible, by some way, to run /sagerun for a specific drive? • Snippets in Vim not working

  I've been trying to get snippets to work with Vim (specifically, MacVim). I have tried both snippetsEmu and snipMate (preferred). Other plugins are working fine. I have been able to get snippetsEmu to temporarily work via A Byte of Vim's note to run :runtime! ftplugin/python_snippets.vim if they aren't working, except the author doesn't mention why they may not be working or what kind of permanent solutions are available. So, basically when I type for<tab> in a PHP file it just puts a tab after 'for' instead of expanding into the snippet. I'm new to Vim and can't seem to figure this out. The only main difference that these two plugins (snippetsEmu and snipMate) have compared to other plugins is that they use the ~/.vim/after directory. But knowing that hasn't helped me any. What I have seen some people suggest is to make sure the following is in your .vimrc file, but this has not helped: set nocompatible filetype on filetype plugin on

• Creating yahoo pipe from google cal feed results in german language headings [closed]

  I'm trying to create a Yahoo pipe which combines 4 google calendar RSS feeds into a single feed sorted by date. I've created a yahoo pipe to do this (Which can be found here) The problem is, the headings all appear in German! • KB2494088 Always Fails : How to get it to install (or stop trying to)?

  I have a problem where KB2494088 (a SQL Server 2008 R2 patch) continually fails to install when I reboot my system. Downloading the manual patch and trying to apply it says: The SQL Server patch package is part of a general distribution release (GDR). This package cannot be applied since this SQL Server feature has already been patched. To continue, you must install a higher version of the SQL Server patch. Most other posts (this, this) suggest it's either a failed (or cancelled) past installation or requires a SQL server repair. I've looked at registry settings and tried the repair option, but nothing seems to work.

  Hi My laptop has two os. one is windows vista. and other is Ubuntu. I am currently on ubuntu system, this is my primary OS. There are 4 partitions of my hard disk Windows OS Linux(Ubuntu OS) Data Now the problem part. The data partition is NTFS. I have mounted this partition on the location /media/windrive-a under ubuntu OS. A little while back i decided to delete the mounting of the data partition and i fired command rm -r /media/windrive-a/. To give me a shock; all my data on data drive is gone. Now, I know this is not the command to remove mounted partition. But I have committed the wrong. Is there any way i can get my data back. These are very important data for me. Please suggest.

• How to install old versions of gcc on Fedora without a VM?

  Hi, I need gcc 4.3 running alongside the shipped 4.4 on an FC13 machine. I can't do the VM solution discussed at http://serverfault.com/questions/88445/how-to-install-old-versions-of-gcc-on-fedora-12 since I need hardware access (CUDA computations on the graphics card). There's no compat-gcc-43 package (only compat-gcc-34). So I've built gcc by hand and am now trying to decide how to "install" it. Could anyone confirm that this was my only option, and/or suggest a best practice for how to manage the side-by-side gcc versions?

• Converting mp3 to ogg, suggestive?

  I'm thinking about converting my mp3 based music library to ogg, due to ogg being a free and open standard format (I guess there are other reasons too). As far as I know there's a chance of losing some sound quality when converting mp3 to ogg and vice versa (?). Would you suggest converting mp3 to ogg, or is it such a bad idea that I'd have to rip all CDs to ogg instead of converting? (if this would turn up I'd rip to flac anyway I guess). How would I be able to convert mp3 to ogg the easiest way, copying ID3-Tags too? (on a *nix-based environment) Best regards!

  If I run grep -ir "somethingtomatch" . from the current directory, I typically get results like this: ./some/path/file1.html: filecontent filecontent keyword filecontent ./some/path/file2.html: filecontent filecontent filecontent keyword ./some/path/file3.html: filecontent keyword filecontent filecontent ./some/path/file4.html: keyword filecontent filecontent filecontent I used grep --color=auto -ir 'somethingtomatch" . but it only highlights the keywords in white on a red highlight. I'm trying to get file names on the left color-coded too. How do I do that? I'm using Terminal.app in OS X with bash and xterm (and I tried xterm-color too).

• How to automount SMB shared network drives in Mac OS X Lion

  In Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) Apple has replaced good old SMB support. Now I can't auto connect to my shared (SMB) network drives. Workarounds? Or Impossible? In OS X Snow Leopard, I could automatically connect my Ubuntu (SMB) shared network drives with auto_smb / auto_master (autofs configuration in /private/etc/). I made three mount points (folders) directly in '/Volumes', I used /Volumes/Data and /Volumes/webroot (both SMB shared). Unfortunately Lion doesn't connect (automount) my network drives. I have to manually connect to the server (Ubuntu file server) in Finder, then open up Terminal to navigate to the mount points, and then it connects. This is not a workable solution. I've searched (Google/SO) but found no solutions apart from an unsupported hack. Isn't it possible any more to automatically connect to an SMB-shared drive during startup?

• Windows 7 Stopped Using hosts file for DNS Resolution

  I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Starting today, I noticed that DNS resolution is not reading my %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file. I say this because I added two new entries to the file and when I run 'nslookup' on the command line, they don't resolve. Further, just trying to resolve 'localhost' results in my primary DNS server being queried. I've read several threads that suggest that the file might have been corrupted and to move it aside and create a new one. I've done that, and no improvement. Is there some sort of registry key that controls the sequence of resources used for DNS resolution (similar to nsswitch.conf on UNIX)? What else could be causing this? Thanks in advance.

  We are considering a change of email servers and Kerio Connect is attractive. However, I am concerned about calendaring functionality. I found an old forum post that states the question well: "We want to create a single public calendar that everyone can see - using Windows XP/Outlook 2003/KOC 6.4.1. We want a way for people to put an entry in their own personal calendar and some how mark it so the entry auto add's or syncs with the public one. If an entry is private it wouldn't sync to the shared public calendar... Has anyone ever heard of a way to do this - in any way with any software?" This is a high priority feature, so if Kerio cannot do this, we may consider Exchange. Does Exchange provide functionality like that described?

  Hello, I currently own a Crosshair 2 Formula which is broken and I need to replace. Recently, I bought a Phenom 2 CPU which I wouldn't like to throw away. Recent Crosshairs are based (as opposed to the Rampage series) on chipsets that are certified for AMD Crossfire. The problem is that I have 3 SLi cards I absolutely don't want to change with AMD card(s) since I use 3D Vision, and I need NVidia. If I buy a Crosshair 3 or 4 which is not SLi certified, will SLi still work? Else, could you suggest me a good gaming motherboard with AM3 socket and that works with 3-way SLi? Thank you in advance. I have a lot of professional files/folders in a FireWire 800 external HD connected to the MBP and I want to use the 1.5 TB HD in my Windows 7 box as a backup for both the HD and MBP. Right now I am just copying files manually to the HD over the network and that's very slow and open to failure (not rsync'd.) Anyone suggest some appropriate solutions? Should I just figure out how to setup RSync on the windows box or is there a better alternative? Thanks!

  There are many open source Message queues for Linux, and I need some help deciding what I should go for. My problem is simple - I get sent a list of files that needs to be processed. Each job can't be split up, but they are self contained and can be spread to multiple computers. I'm thinking of solving this using a message queue. Multiple clients send a message to a central queue. Each queue has a number of subscribers that will take jobs from that queue when they have finished processing the current job. Ideally it should have the following qualities Message queue must be able to store unprocessed messages in case of a shutdown/reboot A job can only be processed by a single subscriber (don't want duplicate jobs) The subscribers should be able to send jobs of their own, that will be processed by a different set of subscribers. Can anyone suggest a simple to use message queue?

• Install mountain lion by using the .dmg from installer app

  I already have a Mountain Lion Installer app, downloaded from Apple Store. Now, I would like to install ML on another machine I own. I didn't want to download it again, so I copied the .app to the other machine and try to run. Unfortunately due to some error about mac unable to run the .app I wasn't able to install. Most tutorial suggest to make a bootable USB starting by the installer InstallESD.dmg, found in installer .app. I would like instead to run the .dmg directly. So I have three 'propedeutic' questions: can I just mount and run the .dmg without making a bootable drive ? I do have backup, a TimeCapsule one to be precise. In case of failure, can I just use the previous backup, and restore to Lion 10.7 ? from 'Apple Store point of view', would my machine be recognized as upgraded and elegible for future update ?

• How do you confirm network adapter is gigabit capable?

  Upgrading my network to gigabit speeds and don't know how to determine if the NIC in one of the systems is capable of gigabit speed. The documentation from the manufacturer states this: Network adapter 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN on system board However when I go to the properties of the NIC under Speed & Duplex my only options are: 10 Mb Full 10 Mb Half 100 Mb Full 100 Mb Half Auto Is there a command line I can run that will give me more detail about the NIC? Windows 7 x64 OS New Info: The new switch I just bought has a light to indicate 1000Mbps. I can tell from the light that this NIC is indeed negotiating at 1000Mbps but I'd still like to know how to determine this from the console in windows.

Unfortunately for this company, most new machines now come with a 64-bit version of Windows 7, which is incompatible with their FPD app. I know this time the writing is on the wall: the only long-term solution is to migrate their app. But I wonder if anyone can suggest a temporary alternative path, which doesn't involve either: a) downgrade 64-bit Windows to 32-bit, or b) run the app on a virtualized 32-bit XP Thanks! • Unable to Get IIS Response Times with Hyperic Monitoring Tool

  We have a very large .NET application (vendor) that I am trying to gather performance metrics for using Hyperic. In general I wanted to be able to report response times for each of the components within the application, which include: Web Services ASP.NET Pages MSMQ I am currently unable to successfully monitor the response times for IIS on my windows machines. I have successfully auto-discovered them and I am getting diagnostic information, but am not getting back the response times. After looking online at what other people are seeing, I found that I am missing a tab for the response times which is usually next to the metrics tab. Also, when I look at the configuration screen for IIS I do not see a field which enables me to specify where the log files are located at. Please note that my logs are located at e:\LogFiles\ instead of the usual location because our IT staff doesn't allocate much space for the C: drive. Please note that I have the MSMQ monitors up and running great. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeremy

"These machines are now on Domain where in we have no rights/control on the domain level GPO", we have local admi rights on these machines We have a requirement do set the "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security" to "NOT Configured" or "OFF "on these machines In gpedit.msc if we manually go to "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security" after enabling Windows Firewall Services then can Clear the settings Do do the same manually on all machines is extra effort Changing values in registry will get reverted on machine restart as its getting applied from local GPO Also using GPMC can connect to remote computer and can manually or using wfw file we can make it not configured but we are looking for a script or a less effort method to accomplish this Please suggest NB: CIA has already reported similar issue//How do I turn off Windows 7 Firewall via script or through automation?// , but doing netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off on already deployed machines did not make change (FW service on all machine is disabled in GOLd image)// Thanks and Regards Jose

• iptables forward rule not working in openwrt

  I am trying to apply some iptables forwarding rules in openwrt. Here is my scenario - My server has two cards ath0 and br-lan. br-lan is connected to internet and ath0 to private network. The other m/c in n/w also has ath0 that connects with this server's ath0 and they are able to ping each other. Now, I want other m/c in network to use internet using br-lan of server so I thought of using iptables forwarding rule- Here is what I tried - Server : $ ping 1.1.1.6 // <ath0-ip of client> works fine $ iptables -A FORWARD -i ath0 -o br-lan -j ACCEPT $ /etc/init.d/firewall restart Client : $ ping 1.1.1.5 // <ath0-ip of server> works fine $ ping 132.245.244.60 // <br-lan ip of server> (not working) I am new to iptables stuff and openwrt. • wpf exit thread automatically when application closes

  Hi, I have a main wpf window and one of its controls is a user control that I have created. this user control is an analog clock and contains a thread that update hour, minute and second hands. Initially it wasn't a thread, it was a timer event that updated the hour, minutes and seconds but I have changed it to a thread because the application do some hard work when the user press a start button and then the clock don't update so I changed it to a thread. • Windows 7 Loading speed

  I have installed Windows 7 64-bit about two week ago. Since then everything was working alright, but yesterday Windows started to load much slower. Main delay comes while Windows logo is glowing -- it used to be around 10-15 seconds and now it's around 2 minutes. As far as I remember, I have only installed Microsoft IntelliMouse driver recently and removed it today. Unfortunately I found out that I have switched off System Restore some time long ago, so can't even test if the problem can be fixed by restoring old version. How can I troubleshoot the problem? Can I somehow find out what's causing the delay? P.S. Please don't suggest to reinstall Windows. I know that will help, but reinstalling all software and settings is a pain and requires a lot of time.
