• How do I search git history for a disappeared line?

  I need to search the history of a file in a git repository to find a line that is gone. The commit message will not have any relevant text to search on. What command do I use? Further details: this is the history of my todo list out of our non-stellar task tracking software. I've been keeping it for two years because there's just not enough information kept for me in the software. My commit messages usually have only the task ids, unfortunately, and what I need to do is find a closed task by subject, not by number. Yes, the real solution is better task tracking software, but that is completely out of my hands.

• Trace output not getting logged in output file at times.

  I'm using TextWriterTraceListener to log error messages to a text file.The TraceOutputFile has been mentioned in the web.config file as "trace.log.txt". The error messages are getting logged to the trace.log.txt. But at times I notice that some files are getting generated randomly under root folder with the exception details instead of logging to the trace.log.txt. This is not happening in any particular page and hence I am unable to detect the reason as to why these files are getting generated.Ex:14dbc20a-9eb8-4fec-b6bd-54400db2ceatrace.log.txt . Can u suggest me any circumstances when this might happen?

• Creating WebService test harness

  Hello, I am trying to create a test harness for our QA staff to test our internal web services. I would like to create a web app that will allow them to enter a uri then submit. The web app will then interrogate the uri to get the appropriate parameters expected and returns with a generated input form. I know, this would be similar to SOAPUI and others. However, I feel it would be earier for them to be able to just use a form with entry fields and click a button to invoke the service and get the results back for display in the web app. In addition, I could create some custom logic that allows them to generate specific behavior they need. Has anybody done anything like this? I have searched and have found similar functionality but nothing close enough to help me. If you need more details please let me know.   I do a good number of in-person technical interviews for new developers. I like to ask technical questions where I ask people to either code something up or develop an algorithm to solve a task. I feel my current repertoire is uninspired. In my opinion, the ideal interview question has these qualities: Multiple solutions, where some are obviously better than others, and some that involve subtle trade-offs (discussing tradeoffs is a good way to gauge someone's experience, in my opinion). Novelty - asking the "insert this element into a linked list" question is only good for weeding out people who never did their homework. Elegant - I like questions where the core problem isn't hidden in a lot of details. Everyone should be able to understand the problem, even if everyone can't solve it on the whiteboard. Elegant questions are difficult without involving undue amounts of "domain knowledge" or getting too narrow. Have you been on either side of an interview where someone (maybe you!) asked a particularly good programming or algorithms question?

  this appears to bind, but rows in Details Grid are empty. Something is off/missing? I've also tried {Binding SubCustomers} SubCustomers is a List on parent object.   I have a IList. where the object PersonDetails consists of the persons name, address and phone number. The list consists of more than 1000 person details. I would like to display 50 PersonDetails per page. Is there a way to select only 50 elements from the list, and return them. For example. myList.select(1,50) myList.select(51, 100) I am able to select only first 50 by using. myList.Take(50); The entire list is at the wcf service, and i would like to get only fifty elements at a time.

• PHP find if file data is an image

  Imagine I have some file data in a variable $data. I need to determine whether it is an image or not. No need for details such as corrupt images etc. Firs thought would be getting the file mime type by looking at the magic number and then see whether "image" is in the mime type. No such luck, even if I have a "file extension to mime type" script, I don't have a reliable way to get mime from magic number. My next option was to have a reasonable list of image file magic numbers and consult them. However, it relatively difficult to find such magic numbers (gif for instance has different magic numbers, some of which could pretty rare - if memory serves me right). A better idea would be some linux program which can do this kind of thing. Any ideas? I'm running RHEL and PHP 5.3. I've got root access - ie able to install stuff if needed. - Chris.

• Databinding a list (in an object) to a combobox in VB.net

  VB 2008 .NET 3.5 I have a custom "Shipment" object that contains a list of "ShippingRate" objects. This list of "ShippingRates" is accessible through a property "Shipment.PossibleShippingRates." That property simply returns a copy of the list of "ShippingRate" for that particular Shipment. My UI layer receives a list of "Shipment" objects from the BLL. This list is databound to a datagridview, and shows details relevant to the Shipment such as Shipping Address, etc. I want to bind the "Shipment.PossibleShippingRates" property to a combobox, such that when the user changes the grid row, the combobox reflects the "PossibleShippingRates" for that "Shipment." In addition, I need a way to store the "ShippingRate" they selected from the combobox for later use. I have tried a few ideas, but none of them work properly. Any ideas on how to do this?

I also tried to use GPS_PROVIDER but it didnt work out. Yes i have all permissions in manifest. Map is able to load in if im not searhing for my loacation. Is it possible its NullPointer because before that i load some other coordinates in same class ? Maybe its emulator fault ? I can give extended code if needed.   i am using a WPF DataGrid, and in my Details row, i would like to show separate objects within a sub collection of each grid item. Is it possible to have a finer control of Path? for example something like... Path=SubCollection['ItemX'] etc.. also, if i was to use a converter, i don't want to have to create a separate converter for each item.. so would there be a way to supply a parameter to a converter that could than determine which collection item to return??

• Best way to utilise an include file which just includes an array in PHP

  Kohana's config files look like this.. here is an example of a database config file (simplified) return array( 'dbhost' => 'localhost', 'user' => 'Tom_Jones' ); I've also got a CMS which wants the connection details. Whilst the CMS uses a different user (with more rights), I'd like to know the best way to include this file and get the data out of it (so as to not repeat myself for hostname and dbname). I haven't thought up of any elegant solutions yet and have not yet dug around Kohana to see how it does it. It's late Friday here so it's probably really obvious to everyone except me. UPDATE My apologies, I forgot to include that this is using Kohana 3!

• CSS+HTML: tds are overlapping

  On my web-site http://vfm-elita.com (it is not in English, sorry for that) - center and right columns are overlapping, please see screenshot for details: Between left and center columns you can see a "gap" with a green background - it is expected and good. But there are no any gap between center and right columns, instead they are overlapping. Issue exists in all known browsers There are no special formatting applied to columns. They are usual 'TD' columns, the only CSS modifier is width that is "250px" for left and right columns, and for center - it is "auto". Please advise how can I correct that error. Thanks a lot!

  Hi everyone, I need to retrieve data (vehicle details, in this case) from a MySQL table tabled and then loop through the results to generate separate lists for each category of vehicle. Is there a simple way to do this without having to have a SELECT statement for each type of vehicle? • Using PHP's exec() function (or the likes), how can you display terminal error output?

  Previous Reference I am just wondering if there's a way (using PHP) to output the compile error information from the terminal to the browser? For example: If you use this code to execute in the terminal... gcc -o try try.c ...and assuming the "try.c" have some errors. The terminal will output something like this: try.c In function 'main': try.c:27 'x' undeclared (first use in this function) try.c:27 (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once try.c:27 for each function it appears in.) Meanwhile, using this PHP code... <?php exec("gcc -o try try.c"); ?> The browser does not return any output like the terminal does. • How to print all rows in one page with Crystal Reports

  I am using Crystal Reports 2011. I am totally new to crystal reports and reporting tools in general. I just added my data fields to the details section, but instead of showing all the rows in one page, a new page is created for each row. I did not use any grouping or change the section paging settings. This only happens for a blank report, when using the report wizard it works fine, but I can't see the difference between what I did and what the report wizard did.

• Why is MenuItem.AdapterContextMenuInfo null when my list view has a custom adapter?

  My question: Before I go and use an OnLongClickListener, is there a better way to pass the "what was clicked to create this context menu" information when your list view has a custom adapter? Here are some details: Normally, my code can just do something like this: public boolean onContextItemSelected(MenuItem item) { AdapterContextMenuInfo info = (AdapterContextMenuInfo) item.getMenuInfo(); and then go on and be happy. However, ever since I introduced a custom adapter, item.getMenuInfo() is null. This is a big problem, because my code no longer knows which item was clicked.   hi I've a php website which displays recipes www.trymasak.my, to be exact. The recipes being displayed at the index page is updated about once a day. To get the latest recipes, I just use a mysql query which is something like "select recipe_name, page_views, image from table order by last_updated". So if I got 10000 visitors a day, obviously the query would be made 10000 times a day. A friend told me a better way (in terms of reducing server load) is when I update the recipes, I just put in the latest recipe details (names,images etc) into a text file, and make my page instead of querying a same query for 10,000 times, just get the data from the text file. Is his suggestion really better? If yes, which is the best php command should I use to open, read and close the text file? thanks

• Best way to save info in hash

  I have a webpage that the user inputs data into a textarea and then process and display it with some javascript. For example if the user types: _Hello_ *World* it would do something like: <underline>Hello</underline> <b>World</b> Or something like that, the details aren't important. Now the user can "save" the page to make it something like site.com/page#_Hello_%20*World* and share that link with others. My question is: Is this the best way to do this? Is there a limit on a url that I should be worried about? Should I do something like what jsfiddle does? I would prefer not to as the site would work offline if the full text would be in the hash, and as the nature of the site is to be used offline, the user would have to first cache the jsfiddle-like hash before they could use it. What's the best way to do this?
