  • Multiple keyboard shortcuts for the same command in OS X?

    I am used to doing Ctrl-Shift-Tab to cycle through tabs. I do slowly pick up the niceness about using Cmd-Shift-[ or ] to do the same on the Mac. I have currently set TextMate to take Ctrl-Shift-Tab to do the tab cycling, but I'd want the Ctrl-Shift-[ or ] in addition to that to perform tab cycling. Is this possible? The reason I ask is because I see that Chrome can do it both ways (not through any configuration of my own of course).

    I have two web servers behind a F5 load balancer. Each web server has identical applications to the other. There was no issue until the config of the load balancer changed from source address persistence to least connections. Now in some applications I receieve this error Server Error in '/' Application. Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Source Error: The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL: Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error.     I'm looking at allowing internet access for only a few scattered users on a school network. One method I'm considering is using 802.1x authentication for the modem. Of course there are simpler options like only allowing specific IP or mac addresses, but policy requires something more secure than this. So, are there any modems with 802.1x wired authentication? All my searching on this yields info about wireless.

    Hi, on Mac, you know there is no 'merge files' when you command+c/command+v some folder on another one, it actually replaces it. I'm simply wondering on what UNIX is this based? Because correct me if I'm wrong, but "cp - R" DOES merge files, no? And that's what I'm doing via the Finder, copying some files and folders... thanks!

  • xtreamer doesn't see Window 7 shares

    Weird situation after reinstalling Windows 7 on my PC. Suddenly the xTreamer (media streamer) that's connected to the same LAN doesn't see shares by my PC. Other PCs (and even a MacBook) on the same network can access these shares just fine. And the xTreamer is capable of seeing other shares in the network (e.g. by some other NAS server I have). It can't be permissions/firewall because the Mac does connect to the shares... I'm stumped. Ideas?

    I've just begun to use the Terminal in Mac OS X and I've found the man command very useful, although very often the explanations are too compact or complicated for me. I am looking for a very basic reference guide – like O'Reilly makes, for example. But in there I didn't find an entry for basic commands like ls or ln and a layman's explanation of all the flags and options. Could anybody recommend me something?

  • Fastest browser to run over a forwarded X11 session

    So far I have tried Firefox (latest and greatest) and Chrome (also latest and greatest), and while Chrome runs faster than Firefox over X11 from my CentOS server to my Windows 7 workstation, it's still pretty sluggish. What other GUI browsers are available for Linux that would [likely] run faster than Chrome? I've not tried Opera 11, but have had many issues with it under Windows and Mac OS X directly, so am waiting for a new version before going that route.

For the current traffic, it's good enought but, my question is, wouldn't i be better off, if i would buy for example, a server and plug it to the ISP myself? For example a Mac mini or a MacPro ? Where is the downside of such an example? It's ok if you just specify the mandatory things to watch for such a setup.

    I have a flash drive that was used primarily on a Mac, and it was ejected improperly. Now when I put it back in, the computer (I tried 2 different Macs,and 3 PCs) does not even register the flash drive- it does not show up in Finder or in My Computer. Any ideas how to get the lost files back?

    I have 2 switches which have redundancy between them, meaning fa0/1 on SW1 is connected to fa0/1 on SW2, and fa0/2 on SW1 is connected to fa0/2 on SW2. Both of the switches have the same BID, however the MAC address of SW1 is numerically lower, hence making it the root bridge. Now my question is, on SW2, what determines which of fa0/1 and fa0/2 becomes the RP (Root Port) and the other on blocking state?
