• How to pass string file path as HttpPostedfile to fileupload control?

  Hi friends, I have got little tricky issue i.e I am using API of a product which has few methods for uploading image. The UI part of the product has one file upload control which takes files and convert that into binary and save it to database. In the coding part they are using one method where they send this fileupload.postedfile as one of the input parameter to the method. Now my requirement is, I have a directory where there are hundred of files which i have to send each file one by after another to this method as a input. Now i wish to know how to pass a file name as "HttpPostedFile" to that method as a parameter. I have no other option other than using that API (our clients requirement). Thanks

• UITableView in a View controller by a UIViewController and not a UITableView

  Hi all, I have a View with lots of things inside it including buttons, a scroll view and a tableView (ipad app). I am controller this view with a viewController subclass but I don't know how to manage my tableView. I don't know where put the methods : - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath should i add them to my ViewController or should i create a new subclass of UITableViewController (and get them "for free") and set the dataSource and delegate of my tableView to that class when I create it programmatically? I am storing the data I want to show in my appDelegate following the tutorial : http://www.iphonesdkarticles.com/2008/10/sqlite-tutorial-selecting-data.html I am new at developing and I fear I am spagetti coding. • Is there a way to mark up code to tell ReSharper not to format it?

  I quite often use the ReSharper "Clean Up Code" command to format my code to our coding style before checking it into source control. This works well in general, but some bits of code are better formatted manually (eg. because of the indenting rules in ReSharper, things like chained linq methods or multi-line ternary operators have a strange indent that pushes them way to the right). Is there any way to mark up parts of a file to tell ReSharper not to format that area? I'm hoping for some kind of markup similar to how ReSharper suppresses other warnings/features. If not, is there some way of changing a combination of settings to get ReSharper to format the indenting correctly? EDIT: I have found this post from the ReSharper forums that says that generated code sections (as defined in the ReSharper options page) are ignored in code cleanup. Having tried it though, it doesn't seem to get ignored.

• Rails Catch All Route URL Helpers?

  If I have a catch-all-route like this: match '*request_path' => "pages#show", :as => :page ...and the pages can be arbitrarily nested, how do I make it so I can use the url helper methods? If I have a page structure like this: /about /about/people /about/story /about/story/in-depth Then I want to be able to write page_path(@page) and get /about/story/in-depth for the hypothetical "In Depth Story" page. But instead I'm just getting /in-depth. If I override Page#to_param, and do something like this: def to_param result = "" if parent result << parent.to_param result << "/" end result << super end ... it returns an encoded string like this: /about%2Fstory%2Fin-depth Is there a way to make this work?

• Marshall a list of objects from VB6 to C#

  I have a development which requires the passing of objects between a VB6 application and a C# class library. The objects are defined in the C# class library and are used as parameters for methods exposed by other classes in the same library. The objects all contain simple string/numeric properties and so marshaling has been relatively painless. We now have a requirement to pass an object which contains a list of other objects. If I was coding this in VB6 I might have a class containing a collection as a member variable. In C# I might have a class with a List member variable. Is it possible to construct a C# class in such a way that the VB6 application could populate this inner list and marshal it successfully? I don't have a lot of experience here but I would guess Id have to use an array of Object types.

• jQuery partial page refresh after form submit

  When using jQuery to submit a form is it possible to place the resulting page (after the submit) inside another HTML element? I'll try to make this clearer. Up to now I've been using Callback methods that among others do a document.forms['form'].submit(); whenever a form has been updated with new information and needs to be refreshed. However, this results in a full page refresh. I'm implementing Partial Page Refresh using jQuery and thought of using something like var newContent = jQuery('#form').submit(); jQuery('#div').load(newContent); However, that does not seem to work as the page is still fully refreshed. The content is correct, however the behaviour seems to be exactly the same as before - so I'm not really sure if what I want is actually possible with jQuery. Any hints and pointers would be helpful.   Hello, everyone! I'm trying to delete a blog post on blogger.com using Blogger API via Prototype Javascript library. I guess that Prototype doesn't work well with HTTP methods other than GET and POST (here's the ticket describing similar problem though proposed patch didn't work for me) Any help is appreciated!   Does anybody know of a python module to parse a doxygen style C++ comment string? I mean a string like this (simple example): /** * A constructor. * A more elaborate description of the constructor. * @param param1 test1 * @param param2 test2 */ and I would like to extract the brief, the long description, the parameters, the return value etc. I'm currently doing this using string methods and regular expressions but my solution is not very robust.   Hi, Q1 If I have a reusable library that is available, that uses interfaces with classes that use the getInstance concept to create concrete classes for you to use, then in this case would that make sense on the client side to use the IOC container to create instances of these classes? Or is that really applying a double layer of abstraction? Q2 Or in the cases where I'm building the reusable library myself and want the client to use an IOC container, then in my reusable library would I then dispense with any overhead of having factories or "getInstance" methods to instantiate the classes in the client? (i.e. as the IOC container would do this no?)

• BlackBerry Horizontal Scrolling in TreeField or ListField

  I am working on an application that requires text larger than the viewable screen size in both a TreeField and a ListField. As you know, the TreeField and ListField callbacks support only graphics.drawText() methods, so I cannot add an instance of a Field per row. Does anyone have a method of Scrolling horizontally past the viewable text size? Is there maybe a scrollable panel that would work? I know of the NullField(Field.Focusable) trick but this won't work on the list field. Lastly, I am aware that the type of screen makes a different as FullScreen and MainScreen use VerticalFieldMangers. So am using a PopupScreen at the moment for my testing. • Arguments of using WCF/OData as access layer instead of EF/L2S/nHibernate directly

  We develop mostly low traffic but highly specialized web applications. Normally we use L2S, EF or nHibernate as access layer and then throws Asp.Net MVC to it and in which for normal crud operations we query the ISession/DataContext directly but for more advanced functions/side effects we put it in a some kind of service layer. Now, i was think about publishing the data through OData (WCF Data Service) and query that from the controllers (or even from jQuery when the a good template engine shows up) and publish the service operations through a WCF service (or as custom methods on the WCF Data Service?). What advantages/disadvantages does this architecture poses? Do I gain something except higher complexity and latency? Better separations of concerns (or is it just a illusion)?

• How does GCC compile applications that reference a static library

  I've read that the gcc compiler can perform certain optimization when compiling an application that references a static library, for instance - it will "pull" in only that code from the static library that the application depends upon. This helps keep the size of the application's executable to a minimum if portions of the static library are not being used by the app. 1) Is this true? 2) How does GCC know what code from the static library the application is actually using? Does it only look t the header files that are included (directly and indirectly) in the application and then pull code accordingly? Or does it actually look at what methods from the static library are being called?

• Linq to SQL, Repository, IList and Persist All

  This discusses a repository which returns IList that also uses Linq to SQL as a DAL. Once you do a .ToList(), IQueryable object is gone once you exit the Repository. This means that I need to send the objects back in to the Repo methods .Create(Model model), .Update(Model model), and .Delete(int ID). Assuming that is correct, how do you do the PersistAll()? For example, if you did the following, how would you code that in the repository? Changed a single string property in the object Called .Update(object); Changed a different string property in the object Called .Update(object); Called .PersistAll(), which would update the database with both changed strings. How would you associate the objects in the Repository parameters with the objects in the Linq to Sql data context, especially over multiple calls? I am sure this is a standard thing. Links to examples on the web would be great!

• Filter a model's attributes before outputting as json

  Hey guys, I need to output my model as json and everything is going fine. However, some of the attributes need to be 'beautified' by filtering them through some helper methods, such as number_to_human_size. How would I go about doing this? In other words, say that I have an attribute named bytes and I want to pass it through number_to_human_size and have that result be output to json. I would also like to 'trim' what gets output as json if that's possible, since I only need some of the attributes. Is this possible? Can someone please give me an example? I would really appreciate it.

• Very slow startup of ASP.NET applications

  I have an ASP.NET applications with quite small number of pages. The problem I see is that the startup time is quite slow. As far as I can tell, most of the time is spent in JIT. Pre-compiling the applications seem not very helpful in reducing the #methods JIT as reported thru PerfMon. Does anybody know what I can do to reduce the startup time further? Is it true that there is no way to pre-jit an ASP.NET application using NGEN?

  Hi, I create an add-on for the product Foo. There are different versions of Foo, namely version 1, 2, 3 and 4. These versions have a mostly compatible API, but not fully. I currently have 5 projects: DotNetCommon - here are the common methods which could be used if I create an add-on or something other than the Foo product. FooOne FooTwo FooThree FooFour The Foo*-projects contains the add-in for version 1-4 of Foo. There are a lot of duplicated files in the Foo*-projects, as there are a lot of things in the API which are identical for all versions of Foo. It would be nice to separate out everything which is common for all Foo-versions. Why not just create a common assembly for all versions of Foo called FooCommon? If I would put all classes which are common for all versions of Foo into a new library project, I would still have to choose which version of Foo the new FooCommon should reference. As said, they are not identical.

  Hi Guys, My code appears to crash. I'm trying to setup a SensorManager for getting the Orientation of the device. I also have a listener that should update when conditions change.   Hi, in my current project I used a AsyncFileUpload control from AJAX Control Toolkits. After I got the async file upload part working, I needed to filter the file type so users can only upload image files. What is the type of args parameter? Where are the methods such as "get_fileName()", "set_cancel()" defined? I went to the homepage of the AsyncFileUpload control but couldn't find any documentation regarding the "args". Can someone help me out explaining this Javascript? Thanks

• Random "Not Found" error with Silverlight accessing ASP.NET Web Services

  I'm developing an application with Silverlight 3 and ASP.NET Web Services, which uses Linq to SQL to get data from my SQL Server database. Randomly when the user causes an action to get information from any of my web service methods, Silverlight throws the exception "The remote server returned an error: NotFound.", of type "CommunicationException", with the InnerException status of "System.Net.WebExceptionStatus.UnknownError". Almost 10% of requests gets this error. If the user tries to get the same information again, normally the request has no erros and the user gets the data. When debugging in Visual Studio only Silverlight stops on the exception, and I see no reason for the web service not being found.

• (C# ) Reloading flash files inside a windows form

  Using visual C# express 2008. I have a app which shows load a flash movie in form, using this code axShockwaveFlash1 = new AxShockwaveFlashObjects.AxShockwaveFlash() axShockwaveFlash1.LoadMovie(0, Form1.currentGame); The problem is that when the Loadmovie method is called to load another flash file, without closing the form , the new flash is 'messed' up. to be more specific , it seems that the background and some controls of the previous flash still remain, 'spoiling' the new flash that is loaded. why? Using the following methods before loading the second flash video makes no difference axShockwaveFlash1.Refresh(); axShockwaveFlash1.Stop(); Solution ?

  I'm working on an aspect with postsharp 1.5 and OnMethodBoundaryAspect. I want my aspect have the following behavior by default: 1-If the attribute is used at class level the aspect is applied only on PUBLIC methods. 2-The user of the aspect can put the aspect in a private or protected method. If I use this [MulticastAttributeUsage( MulticastTargets.Method, TargetMemberAttributes = MulticastAttributes.Public)] the point 1 works, but the case 2 doesn't even build becaue is incompatible. Then I tried to use: AttributeTargetTypeAttributes = MulticastAttributes.Public; in the constructor of the aspect, but doesn't work. Thank you very much in advance.

• Graphviz DOT arrange Nodes in circles

  OK here's my problem, I'm generating a graph of a python module, including all the files with their functions/methods/classes. I want to arrange it so, that nodes gather in circles around their parent nodes, currently everything is on one gargantuan horizontal row, which makes the thing 50k pixels wide and also let's the svg converter fail(only renders about the half of the graph). I went trough the docs(http://www.graphviz.org/doc/info/attrs.html) but couldn't find anything that seems to do the trick. So the question is: Is there a simple way to do this or do I have to layout the whole thing by myself? :/
