I've a class Message which has two properties destinationNumber and textMessage. Before calling the gateway, I want to validate the data received by the rest service. I've two questions relatives to how to validate the data : Where should I put the validation rules ? in the model or in the controller How should I use the sfValidator* classes from Symfony to validate the data (ie. where's the documentation for using sfValidator or where can I find some examples) Any help would be appreciated.

  • How to avoid Eclipse warnings when using legacy code without generics?

    I'm using JSON.simple to generate JSON output from Java. But every time I call jsonobj.put("this", "that"), I see a warning in Eclipse: Type safety: The method put(Object, Object) belongs to the raw type HashMap. References to generic type HashMap should be parameterized The clean fix would be if JSONObject were genericized, but since it isn't, I can't add any generic type parameters to fix this. I'd like to switch off as few warnings as possible, so adding "@SuppressWarnings("unchecked")" to lots of methods is unappealing, but do I have any other option besides putting up with the warnings?

    I have a problem which I could solve using something like this sortedElements.ForEach((XElement el) => PrintXElementName(el,i++)); And this means that I have in ForEach a lambda which permits using parameters like int i. I like that way of doing it, but i read somewhere that anonymous methods and delegates with lambda leads to a lot of memory leaks because each time when lambda is executed something is instantiated but is not released. Something like that. Could you please tell me if this is true in this situation and if it is why?

    From the java.text.ChoiceFormat API: setChoices(double[] limits, String[] formats): Set the choices to be used in formatting. Parameters: limits - contains [...] formats - are the formats you want to use for each limit. They can be either Format objects or Strings. When formatting with object Y, if the object is a NumberFormat, then ((NumberFormat) Y).format(X) is called. Otherwise Y.toString() is called. I'm having difficulties understanding the documentation for the formats parameter: how can you possibly pass a Format/NumberFormat object to setChoices if it's declared String[] formats? Note that interestingly, the getters counterpart of setChoices are declared as follows: double[] getLimits() Object[] getFormats() -- not String[]!!! Is this a bug in the API? Should the setter have been declared setChoices(double[], Object[]) instead, or am I not understanding how to use setChoices correctly?

    Hello people, Since last 2 days, I was trying to add transperancy to the background after rotating an image using imagerotate() PHP-GD function. But, to my great disappointment, it's not working at all. It's just giving out a black background behind it.     I created a controller and a model. The controller is called "Admin" and the model is called "Album". I edited database.yml with proper info and did the rake db:migrate command which didn't return any errors and did migrate the db inside schema.rb. Inside the controller I wrote: class AdminController < ApplicationController scaffold :album end Next I started my server and went to http://localhost:3000/admin but instead of seeing the typical CRUD page I get the following error: app/controllers/admin_controller.rb:3 Request Parameters: None Show session dump --- flash: !map:ActionController::Flash::FlashHash {} Response Headers: {"cookie"=>[], "Cache-Control"=>"no-cache"} Any idea why?

  • ImageMagick help -- need to change DPI

    I have a 1000x1000 300dpi image that I need to convert to a 100x100 96dpi thumbnail. How do I do this in ImageMagick? I'm after the smallest possible file size at the highest possible quality. Doing something like this: convert myimage.png -quality 100 -resize 100 PNG8:mynewimage.png .... does change the dimension, but still maintains the DPI. If I can get this to change to 96dpi, I should get a smaller file size. I've tried -density, etc., but can't seem to make them work for me. Maybe I put the commands in the wrong order or passed the wrong parameters. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    We're seeing strange behavior when running two versions of a query on SQL Server 2005: version A: SELECT otherattributes.* FROM listcontacts JOIN otherattributes ON listcontacts.contactId = otherattributes.contactId WHERE listcontacts.listid = 1234 ORDER BY name ASC version B: DECLARE @Id AS INT; SET @Id = 1234; SELECT otherattributes.* FROM listcontacts JOIN otherattributes ON listcontacts.contactId = otherattributes.contactId WHERE listcontacts.listid = @Id ORDER BY name ASC Both queries return 1000 rows; version A takes on average 15s; version B on average takes 4s. Could anyone help us understand the difference in execution times of these two versions of SQL? If we invoke this query via named parameters using NHibernate, we see the following query via SQL Server profiler: EXEC sp_executesql N'SELECT otherattributes.* FROM listcontacts JOIN otherattributes ON listcontacts.contactId = otherattributes.contactId WHERE listcontacts.listid = @id ORDER BY name ASC', N'@id INT', @id=1234; ...and this tends to perform as badly as version A.   • Powershell equivilent of python's if __name__ == '__main__':

    I am really fond of python's capability to do things like this: if __name__ == '__main__': #setup testing code here #or setup a call a function with parameters and human format the output #etc... This is nice because I can treat a Python script file as something that can be called from the command line but it remains available for me to import its functions and classes into a separate python script file easily without triggering the default "run from the command line behavior". Does Powershell have a similar facility that I could exploit? And if it doesn't how should I be organizing my library of function files so that i can easily execute some of them while I am developing them?

  • Storing images in a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database

    Hello! I have a question about storing an image in a database. I know this topic has been discussed before, however I feel that in my case this is actually a good idea - the images will be small (none should be as large as 1MB) and there shouldn't be too many. I like the idea of not worrying about IO permissions etc. Anyway I have a problem when storing the image (byte[]) to the database type image. Here is my code: OleDbCommand comm = new OleDbCommand(strSql, Program.GetConnection()); comm.Parameters.Add("?", SqlDbType.Image).Value = bytearr; comm.ExecuteNonQuery(); Everything compiles fine, however when I run it, the code only saves the value 63 (0x3F) into the field - no matter which image I am trying to save. What could be the problem? Thank you for your help.

    Visual Studio has a concept of commands, i.e. actions executable by pressing a shortcut, entering them on the Command Window etc. Visual Studio itself documents its commands (at least some of them) but I was wondering if there is a unified way to get information about any command, e.g. coming from ReSharper, TestDriven.NET etc. What I'd like to see for every command: Textual description of the command List of parameters and their types/allowed values I've never developed a VS addon / extension so am not sure if this question even makes sense but from the user perspective, some documentation would be greatly appreciated. BTW, is the Command Window the best place to get at least an overview of all the commands available? ToolsOptionsKeyboard is another place where I can see shortcuts also but the UI is not very convenient...

  • Where are the readonly/const in .NET?

    In C++ you'll see void func(const T& t) everywhere. However, i havent seen anything similar in .NET. Why? I have notice a nice amount of parameters using struct. But i see no functions with readonly/const. In fact now that i tried it i couldnt use those keywords to make a function that promises to not modify a list being passed in. Is there no way to promise the caller that this function will never modify the contents of list? Is there no way to say to call code and say this list should never be modified? (I know i can clone the list or look at documentation but i like compile errors sometime)

The function has several parameters: link text And before using FFT it converts image to a special one: The Bandpass Filter uses a special algorithm to reduce edge artifacts (before the Fourier transform, the image is extended in size by attaching mirrored copies of image parts outside the original image, thus no jumps occur at the edges) Can you tell me more about this special transform? In terms of performance, it would seem smartest to not create any unnecessary variables which use up memory if its not needed. Or is this a situation where its technically true but doesn't yield any real world results due to the size of the data in question. Forgive me, I know this is a very basic question.

    I have a ServiceInstall component in a WiX installer where I have a requirement to either start auto or demand depending on parameters passed into the MSI. So the Xml element in question is <ServiceInstall Vital="yes" Name="My Windows Service" Type="ownProcess" Account="[SERVICEUSERDOMAIN]\[SERVICEUSERNAME]" DisplayName="My Service" Password="[SERVICEUSERPASSWORD]" Start="demand" Interactive="no" Description="Something interesting here" Id="Service" ErrorControl="ignore"></ServiceInstall> WiX will not allow using a PArameter for the Start attribute, so Im stuck with completely suplicating the component with a condition, eg/ <Component Id="ServiceDemand" Guid="{E204A71D-B0EB-4af0-96DB-9823605050C7}" > <Condition>SERVICESTART="demand"</Condition> ... and completely duplicating the whole component, with a different setting for Start and a different Condition. Anyone know of a more elegant solution? One where I don;t have to maintain 2 COmponents whjich do exactly the same thing except the Attribute for Start?

    I want to use an Enum value for the types of VaryByCustom parameters I will support, is it possible to do this? I tried setting it in the page itself <%@ OutputCache Duration="600" VaryByParam="none" VaryByCustom='<%=VaryByCustomType.IsAuthenticated.ToString(); %>' %> But this returned the entire literal string "<%=VaryByCustomType.IsAuthenticated.ToString(); %>" inside my global.asax is there any way to do this either on the page itself or from the codebehind? Or is this just something I have to accept is purely magic strings and nothing I can do to add type safety to it?
