• HTML, CSS: how can I merge these divs in order to use float:left property on their children ?

  hi, I've 2 sets of thumbnails and in each set I'm displaying them one nearby each other in 4 columns using float:left. I would like to "merge" the 2 sets (but I cannot change the html code) because I want the thumbnails of the second set floating right after the last thumbnail of the first set. In other terms, if in the last row there are only 2 thumbnails and the last 2 columns are empty, the thumbnails of the second set should fill the empty columns of the last row of the first set. • Prevent Apache from chunking gzipped content

  When using mod_deflate in Apache2, Apache will chunk gzipped content, setting the Transfer-encoding: chunked header. While this results in a faster download time, I cannot display a progress bar. If I handle the compression myself in PHP, I can gzip it completely first and set the Content-length header, so that I can display a progress bar to the user. Is there any way to change Apache's behavior, and have Apache set a Content-length header instead of chunking the response, so that I don't have to handle the compression myself?

• Why changing the images name on server results in calling the old ones?

  I am running a slideshow on Ubuntu 12.04.1 that loads the images (slide1.jpg, slide2.jpg, slide3.jpg.., slide5.jpg) using the Javascript and styles as below: document.getElementById('slide_area').className='slide'+step; .slide1{background-image: url(../upload/slide1.jpg)} .slide2{background-image: url(../upload/slide2.jpg)} .slide3{background-image: url(../upload/slide3.jpg)} .slide4{background-image: url(../upload/slide4.jpg)} .slide5{background-image: url(../upload/slide5.jpg)} When I change the images names (show1.jpg, show2.jpg, show3.jpg.., show5.jpg) and also change the style as below: .slide1{background-image: url(../upload/show1.jpg)} .slide2{background-image: url(../upload/show2.jpg)} .slide3{background-image: url(../upload/show3.jpg)} .slide4{background-image: url(../upload/show4.jpg)} .slide5{background-image: url(../upload/show5.jpg)} And open the network section on Chrome, I see the server is calling the new name and old name for images! • Absolutely positioned element moved by margin of another element

  Here is my jsFiddle for the following question: http://jsfiddle.net/arelia/Rruxf/ I'd like to have a header that stays at the very top of the body and a footer that stays at the very bottom of the body. I have a content div (position: relative) between the header and footer, and when I set a margin around the div my absolutely positioned header and footer move from their top/bottom positions by the height of that margin (this also happened when I tried setting a margin above and below the paragraphs in the div). In the fiddle you can see that the footer is not attached to the bottom even though it's absolutely positioned (I went ahead and made the header static since static gives the intended result). How do I position the header and footer to the top and bottom of the body and not have the content in the middle move those two elements? If the position: absolute elements are moved out of the flow why would anything affect their position at all? I've tried searching here and Google for "CSS margin affects absolute" and a few other phrases to no avail. I discovered this while playing around with it some more in developer tools: Metrics show the body is the height of the html element minus the amount of one margin (the margin that's still affecting the footer). So, the body must be stretching to the height of the content div since there is nothing else within the document flow within the body to define its height. But that height ends where the content ends instead of after the margin. Shouldn't it include the margin? If I make the height of the body 100%, the footer positions itself to the bottom of the viewport and then stays fixed in that spot when I scroll. Why isn't it attaching itself to the bottom of the body instead of the bottom of the viewport?

• Background is flashing upon load momentarily

  I have a div (.header) contained within other divs. When my page loads, momentarily just that one .header div "flashes" white as the page is loading, especially in in Firefox, but a little bit in IE8 too. I can't find what kind of CSS or lack thereof is causing this - there's no images or background color associated with that div. There is a logo.png within the .header. • If I'm running my App Engine app on localhost, will I not see a value for X-AppEngine-Country?

  According to the Release Notes: All user request have an X-AppEngine-Country header which contains the ISO-3166-1 alpha-2 country code for the user, based on the IP address of the client request. My app is running on localhost with the 1.5.1 Java release which contains the X-AppEngine-Country header but I don't seem to be receiving any value for this header in my requests. Do I have to deploy the app to a production instance to test this feature?

  I am trying to use openFire + jsjac for my application as chat option. I have installed openfire in my local machine and it is running fine on http://127.0.0.1:4040/ and i have downloaded jsjac version 1-3-4. 1) when I run sampleClient.html file directly [URL: C:\tomcat\webapps\jsjac\examples\simpleclient.html] I am able to connect sampleClient with openFire. Select Http Binding http Base : http://127.0.0.1:7070/http-bind/ jabber server : 127.0.0.1 username : admin password : ** 2) But when I put jsjac folder in tomcat/webapps/ directory, I access sampleClient through http://127.0.0.1:8080/jsjac/examples/sampleClient.html, at that time using above setting (which i have used in step 1) it is giving error "Service unavailable". In step 1 when though I am connected with openFire, when I send a message it displays only "message received from admin@localhost", but it does not display the actual message.. I need your advice on these problems... Thanks.

  Apache is the front-end to my web app then I use mod_rewrite to proxy the request to JBoss. So far this sounds pretty standard, but the problem I am having is: if I access the app directly through jboss @ http://localhost:8080/app/page?raw=foo%26bar&page=1: request.getParameter("raw") = foo&bar If I access the app through Apache @ http://localhost/foo%26bar&page=1 request.getParameter("raw") = foo So somewhere along the way, the %26 is lost and replaced with an & which chops the raw variable. This is my Apache rewrite rule. RewriteRule ^/(.*) \ http://localhost:8080/app/home?raw=$1 [L,P] The Apache access log shows: http://localhost/foo%26bar&page=1 And the rewrite log shows: http://localhost:8080/app/home?raw=foo&bar&page=1 But I want the request to be: http://localhost:8080/app/home?raw=foo%26bar&page=1 I am pretty sure that this also occurs with slashes / too so to me this is some sort of encoding issue. Is there a way to proxy the URL untouched? Can't seem to figure this one out.

This DataGrid gives you the ability to pass it a DataTable or a Collection class and it will automatically figure out the columns or properties and create all the columns for you and display the data.The DataGrid control also supports editing and many other features that you might not always need. This means that the DataGrid does take a little more time to render the data. If you want to just display data (see Figure 1) in a grid format, then a ListView works quite well for this task. Of course, you will need to create the columns for the ListView, but with just a little generic code, you can create the columns on the fly just like the WPF Toolkit’s DataGrid. Figure 1: A List of Data using a ListView A Simple ListView ControlThe XAML below is what you would use to create the ListView shown in Figure 1. However, the problem with using XAML is you have to pre-define the columns. Create GridViewColumn’s From Data TableTo display multiple columns in a ListView control you need to set its View property to a GridView collection object. You add GridViewColumn objects to the GridView collection and assign the GridView to the View property. Each GridViewColumn object needs to be bound to a column or property name of the object that the ListView will be bound to. An ADO.NET DataTable object contains a collection of columns, and these columns have a ColumnName property which you use to bind to the GridViewColumn objects. Listing 1 shows a sample of reading and XML file into a DataSet object. After reading the data a GridView object is created. You can then loop through the DataTable columns collection and create a GridViewColumn object for each column in the DataTable. Notice the DisplayMemberBinding property is set to a new Binding to the ColumnName in the DataTable.
