    Overview I am trying to get a photo feed on to my site using Flickr's api and the phpflickr library. I can successfully get the photoset on to my site, but it shows all the photos from every photoset, what I was hoping to achieve was to show the primary photo from each photoset, and then if the user clicked on the image it would show the full photoset in a lightbox/shadowbox. Is there something I can do to make this work? I am totally out iof ideas. Regards and thanks

  • Problem in vertical navigation menu using css sprites

    Hello all I am trying to create to a vertical navigation menu using CSS sprites. I want to put in it a hover effect where the menu option slides out a bit. a:link { background: url(images/nav.png); background-position: -100px 0px; width: 150px; } a:hover { background: url(images/nav.png); background-position: -100px 0px; width: 160px; } So I am using the same image, I am just increasing its size to create a pop out effect. But my problem is that right now the image's size is increasing to the right. I want to keep the image's base aligned and its head should pop out.   • Problem retrieving HTML5 video duration

    UPDATE: Ok so although I haven't solved this problem exactly, but I did figure out a work around that handles my biggest concern... the user experience. First the video doesn't begin loading until after the viewer hits the play button, so I am assuming that the duration information wasn't available to be pulled (I don't know how to fix this particular issue... although I assume that it would involve just loading the video metadata separately from the video, but I don't even know if that is possible). So to get around the fact that there is no duration data, I decided to hide the duration info (and actually the entire control) completely until you hit play. I know... its cheating. But for now it makes me happy :) That said... if anyone knows how to load the video metadata separately from the video file... please share. I think that should completely solve this problem. I am working on building a HTML5 video player with a custom interface, but I am having some problems getting the video duration information to display. My HTML is real simple (see below) <video id="video" poster="image.jpg" controls> <source src="video_path.mp4" type="video/mp4" /> <source src="video_path.ogv" type="video/ogg" /> </video> <ul class="controls"> <li class="time"><p><span id="timer">0</span> of <span id="duration">0</span></p></li> </ul> And the javascript I am using to get and insert the duration is var duration = $('#duration').get(0); var vid_duration = Math.round(video.duration); duration.firstChild.nodeValue = vid_duration; The problem is nothing happens. I know the video file has the duration data because if I just use the default controls, it displays fine. But the real strange thing is if I put alert(duration) in my code like so alert(duration); var vid_duration = Math.round(video.duration); duration.firstChild.nodeValue = vid_duration; then is works fine (minus the annoying alert that pops up). Any ideas what is happening here or how I can fix it?

  • Dumb IE6 resize behaviour - hope it rings some bells with someone

    Hi, I'm having no end of fun (sic) with jQuery.tabs. The widget is quite crafty in that it turns basic HTML like so <div> <ul> <li>Tab #1</li> ... </ul> <div for panel #1> </div> <div for panel #2> </div> ... </div> into a cute tabbed dialogue. (It does so by restyling the UL and then toggling the "display" attribute for the panel DIVs to show/not show whatever panel is selected.) Now I found that I can spare myself a lot of trouble in my JS project if I insert a scrollable IFRAME into each panel. One usability problem I'm trying to ameliorate is that when the tabbed panel becomes larger than the browser's window, then the user ends up with too many scrollbars. I am trying to avoid this situation by linking the size of the tabbed panel to that of $(window). That is, I trap and process the resize event on $(window). To make my life bearable, all components are relatively sized. This is also true, in particular, of the IFRAMEs (100% width, 100% height). The only exception are the panel DIVs, which are of fixed height (in px). And this is the only dimension css attribute that I manipulate during my resize action. All of this works a treat in FF and Chrome, but IE6 is doing something rather cute: So long as I do not affect the width of the browser window (but only change its height), only the panel DIV changes in height; the IFRAME contained will not change. As a result of this behaviour, it is not possible to shorten the tabbed panel below the height of the IFRAME. I can lengthen the DIV, yes. But the IFRAME will not fill the panel in that case. All becomes good the moment I make the slightest change to the width of the browser window. In that moment, the IFRAME expands to catch up with the extended DIV or DIV and IFRAME contract in tandem. Bizarre. I inserted useless CSS instructions like "position: relative" and "zoom: 1". Also nudged the display with "display: block". No joy so far. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Explanation I have a multidimensional array that is iterated over to created a categorized view of people with different research interests. The main array look something like this: Array ( ... ['Cell Biology'] => Array(4 elements) ['Molecular'] => Array(6 elements) ['Biology Education'] => Array(14 elements) ['Plant Biology'] => Array(19 elements) <--- Last element in array ) I know that the entire array is intact and correctly structured. The only information that is inside these array is an user id, like so: Array ('Plant Biology') 19 elements ( [0] => 737 [1] => 742 [2] => 748 ... ) My problem is that after i run the main array through a foreach loop the last 'sub-array' gets messed up. By messed up I mean that what you see about instead look like: String (13 characters) 'Plant Biology' This is without doing at all anything inside the loop with to the array that gets corrupted. Any tips to what it might be?     I'm using the jQuery droppable/dragable to reorder a treeview (made up of ul/li items) I have no problems making a element and dragging it into the tree When I define the items to be draggable, the code doesn´t work any more (the items are classed as "droppables" but the drop event won´t run) Isn't this supposed to be possible?
