  • Security as a Service (SecaaS) for Amazon EC2

    - by Dave
I'm looking for a security as a service (SecaaS) provider or open source solution for Amazon EC2 instances, however I can't seem to find much on Google or elsewhere so was wondering if anyone knows where I could find this service? Ideally I'm looking for something that offers virtual firewalls, email and web security and virtual spam prevention. If anyone has any information on SecaaS i'd appreciate it, Thanks in advance

  • Automating video generation by adding an intro and a trailing video to the main video

    - by DevDewboy
I have a video project I am trying to compile. Here is the overview: I have many videos which are 5 minute training sessions - Main video. The Intro Video will be a standard 5 second video that will have the Video title and Author. This will be concatenated to the main video. The Trailing Video will pretty much be a stock video that will be concatenated to the main video and have all the legaleze etc. The Intro Vid will smoothly fade into the main vid as well as when you get to end of the main video it will fade into the Trailing video nicely. The product is a new video with a Intro, Main & Trailer video all in one! The concept is really that simple. In fact I found an example of a person who has solved this and is doing exactly what I want. This solution is a Bash script that takes a config file that has the title, author, etc. and generates the Intro, the Ending and creates the resulting video with them concatenated. I am using Ubuntu 12.04 Server. I have been trying to take this as a sample and just running it with no luck because of incompatibility errors. I even attempted to convert it using .MP4 containers or .MKV. I am running into error after error or incompatibility issues. I went as far as changing out the ffmpeg binary using the 25 Oct 2013 version from http://ffmpeg.gusari.org/static/64bit/ which I like as I don't have to worry about rebuilding the binary. Almost successful but again I have some error which I cannot solve. I know part of the problem is the fact that video production, codecs, formats is a completely new field for me so I am attempting to work through this new territory. Perhaps an expert here has something similar that I can use as a guideline that uses MP4 or h.264 format. Or take the solution above from the URL and make it work with a more up-to-date version of ffmpeg. I will include the script and its parameter file and the output (abbreviated because of limitation) below. Basically as the script stands right now, when run I get the error [matroska, webm @ 0x27bbee0] Read error. This error is return from the 'reasembleVideo' routine from the first ffmpeg command. The following is the Parameter File: #!/bin/bash INPUTFILE="ssh_main.mp4" LOGO="logo.png" LOGOLENGTH="1" SPEAKER="Jason" TITLE="Basic SSH Video" DATE="October 28, 2013" SCENESTART="00:00:01" SCENEDURATION="00:00:09" OUTPUTFILE="ssh_basic_1" } The following is the script I am running. The ${OUTPUTFILE} being used is a small 2 minute video I create in screen-o-matic in MP4 format. Script on PasteBin (too long for Super User post)

  • free open-source linux screenshot & ocr tool

    - by Gryllida
I'm looking for a tool which would be able to capture a screen region, pass it to OCR and put the result into clipboard. "import ppm:- | gocr -i - | xclip -selection c" works, but gocr is unreliable: simple text on a webpage has errors. It is a clear font but the OCR tool always misses "r" and replaces it with underscore. "import ppm:- | ocrad -i - | xclip -selection c" says "ocrad: maxval 255 in ppm "P6" file." tesseract needs an image file and does not accept piping input to it. xfce4-screenshooter does not do OCR. ABBYY Screenshot Reader is proprietary. tessnet2 is freeware running on a proprietary platform. Google Docs can OCR screenshots in a batch. But my data is confidential and better not put online. Graphical interface solutions would be acceptable for this question, too. There is a number of existing SuperUser questions about OCR. They fall in several categories. • Cannot paste web page images in Word 2010

    - by Menuta
I am unable to paste web page images into word 2010 - Selecting some text and images on a web page and pasting into word just results in a box on the page. The following question http://superuser.com/questions/132723/cannot-paste-words-with-pictures-in-ms-word-2010 says the solution is to use paste special and select HTML. This does not work when I try it. copying and pasting individual images does not work either.

  • Backup IMAP mail, then access via IMAP again

    - by pauldoo
I am looking for a tool to backup an entire IMAP account and then expose that backup (read-only) via IMAP again. This would be perfect for backing up email from any provider, and allowing the backup to be accessed from any mail client even years after closing the account. I suspect this could be achieved using a full blown IMAP server by configuring it to mirror some other server; but I am hoping for a simpler solution.

  • How to avoid the configuring ms office dialog box

    - by user23950
I always see the configuring ms office with a an endless progress bar, 2 or more weeks after I installed ms office(2000, 2003, 2010 beta). I'm not exactly sure what it is called but it is trying to configure ms office.Or maybe repairing the installation. And it sucks because when I need to access ms word NOW, I can only see that box with the progress bar. And when I press cancel, it won't open ms word, or maybe the whole suite(ms word, powerpoint, excel) What might be a possible solution to this?anyone here who has encountered it before

  • Where can I find this hotfix?

    - by speeder
I've got a problem, and seemly the solution is a hot fix mentioned here. The problem is that the link there pointing to location of the hotfix is broken, leading to a search page on MS site. And looking around I figured that the easiest way is to phone Microsoft, but I live in other country. So, how I fix the problem described in the KB page that I linked? EDIT: Extra note: I DO have the SP3... :(

  • Backup Exec 11D and Thecus N5200 Pro

    - by JohnyD
I have a Thecus N5200 Pro integrated into my Windows 2003 AD network. My current backup solution involves Backup Exec 11D but this requires a running service for windows boxes or a similar daemon for linux machines. The N5200 runs a custom linux kernel but as of yet I am unable to add it to my backups through Backup Exec. Does anyone know of a method of backing up directly from the N5200 to Backup Exec without moving the data to an intermediary for archiving?

  • Is pdf virus proof?

    - by Jonathan
I am creating a secure document portal for a client. One of the things that they are worried about is having someone upload a document with a virus. One solution that might work is to enforce that they only upload pdf files. My question is two fold: Most importantly, is a pdf document virus proof? How can you determine in a *nix environment that a file is a pdf, besides just looking at the extension. Thanks! Jonathan
