    You may thick that it is a silly question but I am confused! I have a situation that I have a Lecture table. And I want to store attendance of who have registered for it. I have master table of People who will register, lecture table, and Important one table is attendance that stores P.k. as f.k. of rest of the table. On Index view of lecture operator will select Attendance and enter attendance information. My problem It show only one page for attendance entry and that page can also open open in EDIT mode, for editing attendance. So what would be the design of the page and process flow of taking attendance?

  • ASP.NET catching controls from html generated from the database

    I have a set of websites that basically do the exact same thing in terms of functionality, the only thing that varies is the css and how the html is laid out. Is there a way to generate the html from a database (ie retreiving the html from a table) and then catching the controls (like buttons, textboxes etc) from the code behind? UPDATE: Here is an example of what I want to acheive: <html> <div id="generatedContent" runat="server"> <!-- the following content has been generated from the database on the page load event --> <div> This is a textbox <input id="tb1" runat="server" type="text" /> This is a button <input type="submit" id="btn1" runat="server" value="My Button" /> </div> </div> </html> This is the code behind var tb1 = new HtmlControls.HtmlInputText(); tb1 = FindControl("tb1"); var btn1 = new New HtmlControls.HtmlInputSubmit(); btn1 = FindControl("btn1"); Now obviously since the html has been generated from the database (ie after the page has already been initialised) the FindControl method will return null.

    I have an aspx page which allows me to edit articles. Among things I can edit is which category the article belongs to. The category is chosen through a DropDownList as shown here, <%= Html.DropDownList("categoryID", (IEnumerable<SelectListItem>)ViewData["CategoryID"], new { @class = "textbox" }) %> However, the articles category isn't selected when I go to that page. The ViewData I use for the DropDownList looks like this, ViewData["CategoryID"] = new SelectList(categories, "CategoryID", "Title", article.CategoryID); Which should select the article.CategoryID as it's selected value. Have I done this wrong?

  • Fixing lots of broken references in a working asp.net mvc project

    The last time I worked on this project everything was fine. That was about 4 days ago. Now, when I open the project, all the references to .Net are not working, I cannot build my project any more. I have tried following the advice in posts here, but to no avail. Even simple things, like Request.cookies - Request is underlined in curlies, and I get 'Request is undefined' when I roll over it. That doesnt seem like I need to just remove and recreate the reference to System.Web.Mvc - which I have tried, and had no luck. Any ideas? Surely there are other issues that can cause this problem... Thank you.

    Here's what I have. User enters values into text boxes (personal information etc.) and then presses a save changes button. The values in these text boxes get stored in an SQL database. The problem I have is that when updating the database using the values from the text boxes, the page refreshes and the values in the text boxes are lost (or rather they return to the values that are already in the database as the data from the database is loaded into the text boxes on Page_Load). When I update the database using valuse stored in variables it all works fine. What is the best way to update with the values from the text boxes?

  • Memory limit for running external executables within Asp.net

    I am using WkhtmltoPdf in my C# web application running in .NET 4.0 to generate PDFs from HTML files. In general everything works fine except when the size of the HTML file is below 250KB. Once the HTML file size increases beyond that, the process which runs the wkhtmltopdf.exe gives an exception as below. On the Task Manager, I have seen that the Memory value for the wkhtmltopdf.exe process does not increase beyond a value of 40,096 K, which I believe is the reason why the process is abandoned in between. How can we configure such that the memory limit for external exes can be increased? Is there any other way of solving this issue? More info: When I run the conversion from the command line directly, the PDF is generated fine. So, its unlikely to be a problem with WkhtmlToPdf. The error is from localhost. I have tried the same on the DEV server, with the same result.     Possible Duplicates: Recommendations for a .NET component to access an email inbox coding for how to receive a mail in windows apllication What methods are there for having .NET code run and handle e-mails as they arrive? I'm developing a social networking site that will allow users to send an email to an email address that is for posting. This is the same thing Blogger does. This allows me to take a picture with my phone and send it to [email protected] and have it posted to my profile. The site is running IIS6 and I have full access to the server. Emails are currently being processed using the SMTP service that comes with Windows 2003 Server, but I can switch to another system without any issues. I am assuming I would have to somehow have the incoming emails either go into a folder that my application is watching or cause incoming emails to trigger a script. can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • ASP.NET MVC Return to Previous Page

    I have a basic Edit method in my controller that redirects back to a top level listing (“Index”) when the edit succeeds. Standard setup after scaffolding. I am trying to change this Edit method to redirect back to the previous page (not Index). Since my Edit method is not using the default mapped input parameter “id”, I am using that to pass the previous URL. In my Edit “get” method, I use this line to grab the previous URL and it works fine: ViewBag.ReturnUrl = Request.UrlReferrer.AbsoluteUri; I send this return URL to the Edit “post” method by using my form tag like this: @using (Html.BeginForm(new { id = ViewBag.ReturnUrl })) Now this is where the wheels fall off. I can't seem to get the URL parsed from the id parameter properly. UPDATE**** Using Gary's example as a guide, I changing my parameter name from "id" to "returnUrl" and used a hidden field to pass my parameter. Lesson: Only use the id parameter how it was intended to be used...keep it simple. It works now...
