• Visual Studio 2010 Bootstrap Folder?

  We currently run a VS2005 app/environment and im investigating upgrading to 2010. But before i can say yes its all good, go buy bossman... I have to confirm that a bootstrap for a thridparty driver install which is included on our installation cd can be used/included (its a usb security dongle so drivers MUST be included/setup for our app to run). It is in the list of available pre-reqs but i didnt put it in the vs2010 bootstrap folder so is this coming from my vs2005 install? or the fact that i had previously selected it in the installer and its saved/loaded that in vs2010? Either way its got a little error icon and says its not found so i get errors on build. I want to resolve this and have it in the list of available pre-reqs as we did for 2005. i.e. copy it to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\BootStrapper folder... But i cant seem to find where the bootstraps are for vs2010? does it not use them? Naturally ive searched the entire vs folder structure for appropriate files/folders but nothing? Where/How is this now done?

• Save object in CoreData

  I am using CoreData with iPhone SDK. I am making a notes app. I have a table with note objects displayed from my model. When a button is pressed I want to save the text in the textview to the object being edited. How do I do this? I've been trying several things but none seem to work. • My treeview Data is Not changing.

  Hai , I am trying to display the user permission in a treeview.For each user permissions are stored in the database as xml file. In the page, a Combo box used to list the users and a treeView used to bind the Permission xml. When the user get selected in the combo box , i took the xml from the database and connect with xmlDatasource and bind with the treeView. What happening is , First time the TreeView fill with the xml nodes and another time it will not work. For the first selection it's ok. Anothers selections are not effected by the treeview. The code is debugging. No problem. Can you just tell ,why the treeview datasource is not updating. I used this code .. • return ArrayList from spring controller for ajax call and render in second dropdown

  I've a spring bean with 3 Maps all of which are to be populated incrementally. First map is an item category list, second map is a product list and third map is a hobby for item type list All the maps are mapped to and on the JSP. When the page is loaded only the first map is populated on the onchange event of first map, I need to populate the second map in the bean and similarly on the onchange event of second map, I need to populate the third map in the bean. Is there a way to do this using Ajax?? I need some code samples to how to render JSON response in second and third dropdown. Clarification: @Donal: I have a simple JSP page with 3 dropdowns corresponding to 3 maps stored in my commandBean. So when the page loads for the first time only the first map and hence the first dropdown is populated. Now whenever the user selects anything out of the first dropdown, I need to send the same commandbean back with the values of the first dropdown and get the values for the second map and hence the second dropdown and so forth for the 3rd dropdown as well. For each dropdown I 've got 3 maps and 3 variables for storing the selected values. Now I want to understand if this is possible using Ajax. I hope this clarifies whatever you need to know. Thanx

• How can I design a custom control in Javascript (possibly using jQuery)

  I'd like to create a custom control in javascript. The goal is to create a building block that has methods, properties and events and render into a div. An example of one such control would be a calendar. It would render into a div, it would have properties that would define how it's displayed and what date is selected or highlighted, it would have methods to change the current month or to select some date and it would raise events when a day is clicked or the current month is changed by a user input. I can think of lots of way to implement this and I'm not sure what is the best way. I seem to remember that it's a bad thing to augment a DOM elements with properties and method, so I ruled that out. A jQuery plugin seems like a good idea, however I'm not sure if it's appropriate to create a plugin for each and every method my control would have so I could then use it like : $('#control').method1(); $('#control').method2(); And if I do use jQuery, where do I store the private data of my control? Another idea I got was to create a new kind of object that would have a reference to a div in which it could render it's elements. So what is the prefered way to do this. If I can I would like to do this as a jQuery plugin, but I'd need guidlines on how to create methods and where to store private data. I've loked at Plugins/Authoring on jQuery website and it did not helped that much in this regard.

• Hide All But First Matching Element

  I am using jquery to sort through multiple paragraphs. Currently I have it set to show only paragraphs that start with a current letter. But now, I would like to consolidate further. If the text between the paragraph tags has multiple instances, I would like all but the first hidden.   Suppose I have a label control on a windows form called "UserName". How can I refer to that label programmatically using the label name? For example I can do: For each ctrl as Control in TabPage.Controls If ctrl.Name = "UserName" Then ' Do something End If Next This seems quite inefficient. I would like to do something like: TabPage.Controls("UserName").Text = "Something" I did some googling but couldn't find a satisfactory answer. Most suggested looping, some said .NET 2005 doesn't support direct refenece using string name, and FindControl method was asp.net only... EDIT Thanks for the response so far. Here is a bit more detail. I have a windows form with three tabpages, all of which a very similar in design and function i.e. same drop down menus, labels, react in simlar way to events etc. Rather than write code for each event per tabpage I have built a class that controls the events etc. per tabpage. For example, on each tabpage there is a Label called "RecordCounter" that simply shows the number of rows in the datagridview when it is populated by selection of a variable in a drop down menu. So what I want to be able to do is, upon selection of a variable in the drop down menu, the datagridview populates itself with data, and then I simply want to display the number of rows in a label ("RecordCounter"). This is exactly the same process on each tabpage so what I am doing is passing the tabpage to the class and then I want to be able to refer to the "RecordCounter" and then update it. In my class I set the ActivePage property to be the TabPage that the user has selected and then want to be able to do something like: ActivePage.RecordCounter.Text = GetNumberOfRows()

  Hello, In asp.net 2.0 application I am trying to create thumbnails from uploaded images. However when I test the application on my PC under Windows7 it works fine, but on the real Windows 2003 Server the resized image has worse quality. Where this difference could come from? Different JPEG codec or what, if Yes how it can be updated on Win 2003 Server? Thanks! • How to send data from an opened window back to its opener in WPF.

  In WPF I have one window opening a second window that allows some data selections to occur on. Once the selections have been made I then want to submit/close the second/sub window and have the data pushed back to the opening/parent window. I can push data into the sub window from the parent via public properties, but have not worked out how to get it back the other way. Can anyone help please?   I am probably going about this all wrong, but here's what I'm trying to do: I have a form that has approximately 50 select boxes that are generated dynamically based on some database info. I do not have control over the IDs of the text boxes, but I can add a class to each of them. Before the form is submitted, the user needs to select at least one item from the select box, but no more than four. I'm a little bit sleepy, and I'm unfamiliar with jQuery overall, but I'm trying to override $("form").submit, and here's what I'm doing.   I have a WPF/Entity Framework (4.0) project with many objects. I'd like to build the application so that that I can have object selection state shared across viewmodels. For Example: We have Cars, Drivers, Passengers, and Cargo classes. We also have UserControls for CarList, DriverList, etc. and editor windows for CarEditor, DriverEditor, etc. Furthermore, we have viewmodels for all of these (CarListViewModel, DriverListViewModel, CargoEditorViewModel, etc). This all composes a dockable interface where the user can have multiple object lists, editors, and viewers open. What I want is a concrete code example of how to wireup multiple viewmodels so that selecting a car in the CarList will cause that car to go live in the CarEditorView, but also be selected in any other view for which the context is valid (such as a DriverByCarView- or just DriverList if there is a filter predicate). There are a number of suggestions and discussions based on this question. The two methods that seem to dominate are: 3018307: Discusses state sharing by mentioning a messaging subsystem 1159035: Discusses state sharing by using an enclosing viewmodel Is one of these approaches better than the other? Does anyone have a concrete example of either/both of these methods in the form of a write-up or small code project? • Loading views dynamically

  Case 1: I have created View-based sample application and tried execute below code. When I press on "Job List" button it should load another view having "Back Btn" on it. In test function, if I use [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; nothing gets loaded, but if I use [self presentModalViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it loads another view haveing "Back Btn" on it. Case 2: I did create another Navigation Based Applicaton and used [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it worked as I wanted. Can someone please explain why it was not working in Case 1. • No event is firing when placing a custom data bound control in DataRepeater control in Windows forms

  Hi, Custom events in a custom data bound control are not firing in DataRepeater control. When I debug it I found that the DataRepeater Control recreates the control using Activator.CreateInstance and Copies the Properties and Events. In my case copying events doesn't copy the custom events that I hooked in.   I've just recently started development using Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone and I put in a ListBox. I can't seem to manipulate the formatting. No matter what I do, the background is black/gray, the selected items have a blue border, and there is padding between the items in the listbox (i'm using images).   I am working on something similar to this post here: TS SQL - group by minute However mine is pulling from an message queue, and I need to see an accurate count of the amount of traffic the Message Queue is creating/ sending, and at what time Select * From MessageQueue mq My expanded version of this though is the following: A) User defines a start time and an end time (Easy enough using Declare's @StartTime and @EndTime B) Give the user the option of choosing the "grouping". Will it be broken out by 1 minutes, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or 30 minutes (Max). (I had thought to do this with a CASE statement, but my test problems fall apart on me.) C) Display the data to accurately show a count of what happened during the interval (Grouping) selected. • WPF & Linq To SQL binding ComboBox to foreign key

  I'm having trouble binding a ComboBox to a foreign key in WPF using Linq To SQL. It works fine when displaying records, but if I change the selection on the ComboBox, that change does not seem to affect the property to which it is bound. My SQL Server Compact file has three tables: Players (PK is PlayerID), Events (PK is EventID), and Matches (PK is MatchID). Matches has FKs for the the other two, so that a match is associated with a player and an event. My window for editing a match uses a ComboBox to select the Event, and the ItemsSource is set to the result of a LINQ query to pull all of the Events. And of course the user should be able to select the Event based on EventName, not EventID. Here's the XAML: <ComboBox x:Name="cboEvent" DisplayMemberPath="EventName" SelectedValuePath="EventID" SelectedValue="{Binding Path=EventID, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" /> And some code-behind from the Loaded event handler: var evt = from ev in db.Events orderby ev.EventName select ev; cboEvent.ItemsSource = evt.ToList(); var mtch = from m in db.Matches where m.PlayerID == ((Player)playerView.CurrentItem).PlayerID select m; matchView = (CollectionView)CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(mtch); this.DataContext = matchView; When displaying matches, this works fine--I can navigate from one match to the next and the EventName is shown correctly. However, if I select a new Event via this ComboBox, the CurrentItem of the CollectionView doesn't seem to change. I feel like I'm missing something stupid! Note: the Player is selected via a ListBox, and that selection filters the matches displayed--this seems to be working fine, so I didn't include that code. That is the reason for the "PlayerID" reference in the LINQ query

• My Local Fileshare ClickOnce Update Is Not Working, Help?

  I have a C# application that I'm trying to get to update automatically via ClickOnce. After publishing newer versions of software, I see the new versions in my publish folder, but when I open the application, it checks for updates, and does nothing (even though there are new files in the publish folder). What do I need in place for updates to be made automatically? Edit What version of Visual Studio are you using? Visual Studio 2008 Are you deploying the upgrades to the same location as the old version? They are being published to the same location (not sure about deployed) Is the installation URL the same? Have you incremented the version number? Yes In the Updates dialog reached by clicking the Updates button in the Publish page, do you have "The application should check for updates" checked? Yes Do you have "Before the application starts" selected? Yes How are you deploying the files? Not sure Are you copying them over to the file share or publishing the directly? Publishing directly

  I'm trying to render a CGPDFPage (selected from a CGPDFDocument) into a UIImage to display on a view. I have the following code in MonoTouch which gets me part way there. RectangleF PDFRectangle = new RectangleF(0, 0, UIScreen.MainScreen.Bounds.Width, UIScreen.MainScreen.Bounds.Height); public override void ViewDidLoad () { UIGraphics.BeginImageContext(new SizeF(PDFRectangle.Width, PDFRectangle.Height)); CGContext context = UIGraphics.GetCurrentContext(); context.SaveState(); CGPDFDocument pdfDoc = CGPDFDocument.FromFile("test.pdf"); CGPDFPage pdfPage = pdfDoc.GetPage(1); context.DrawPDFPage(pdfPage); UIImage testImage = UIGraphics.GetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); pdfDoc.Dispose(); context.RestoreState(); UIImageView imageView = new UIImageView(testImage); UIGraphics.EndImageContext(); View.AddSubview(imageView); } A section of the CGPDFPage is displayed but rotated back-to-front and upside down. My question is, how do I select the full pdf page and flip it round to display correctly. I have seen a few examples using ScaleCTM and TranslateCTM but couldn't seem to get them working. Any examples in ObjectiveC are fine, I'll take all the help I can get :) Thanks
