  so i have this form and on it is a combo box populated from a database via a SQL method. and i have another form which allows us to maintain the database table etc. so i make a new instance of the second form doing: Form1 frm = new Form2; frm.show(); once i have done what ever i wanted to do on the second form and i close it, i need to somehow trigger an event or something which will refresh the combo box and the code behind it. i was thinking of some onchange or focus event for the whole form, the problem is i have 5 of these combo boxes and running all the SQL again. i also thought of passing somesort of variable thro but then i would still need an event for that. any ideals would be awesome

• Is there a way of providing a final transform method when chaining operations (like map reduce) in underscore.js?

Say I wanted to do an operation like: take an array [1,2,3] multiply each element by 2 (map): [2,4,6] add the elements together (reduce): 12 multiply the result by 10: 120 I can do this pretty cleanly in underscore using chaining, like so: arr = [1,2,3] map = (el) -> 2*el reduce = (s,n) -> s+n out = (r) -> 10*r reduced = _.chain(arr).map(map).reduce(reduce).value() result = out(reduced) However, it would be even nicer if I could chain the 'out' method too, like this: result = _.chain(arr).map(map).reduce(reduce).out(out).value() Now this would be a fairly simple addition to a library like underscore. But my questions are: Does this 'out' method have a name in functional programming? Does this already exist in underscore (tap comes close, but not quite).

  I have a PHP page that contains html and tags and PHP codes and I am using AJAX to manipulate some data and now I need to spit out the response but I am not sure if it is possible to put the mixed content into a string variable to pass through... Is this possible? For example I need to: $response = "<p>some text--<?php echo $something; ?>"; Thanks... To clear things up, I am not trying to send raw PHP code to clientside as that would be silly and won't be evaluated as it is a server side script. I am just looking for a fast way to put everything into a variable without manually re-doing the whole page stripping out the php open and close tags and echos...etc

  Hi, Does anyone know of a C-based open source class / framework which can generate a random jigsaw puzzle from an image or generate a random puzzle template which could then be applied to an image? The puzzle pieces must have male and female notches/holes. There should be more than one template so that the puzzle does not become too easy. The target system is iOS / Mac. If not, how would you approach this problem? The puzzle pieces should be as close to a real jigsaw piece shape as possible and the system must be dynamic so that the user can use their own photos or download photos. thanks!

• Strange error that I've never encounter in c++ before, anyone know what it means?

  Hi, I won't post any code, because there is too much that could be relevant. But When I run my program it prints Internal Bad Op Name! : Success Anybody even know what that means? I'm using g++ to compile my code and nowhere in my code do I cout anything even remotely close to something like that. I don't know where it's coming from. Also, any suggestions as to figure out where in the code it's coming from, maybe using gdb somehow to do that? Thanks!

• Best way to force Spring shutdown from a bean?

  My application uses a Spring DefaultMessageListenerContainer to process incoming messages. The main method of the app already registers a shutdown hook. Question is this: what is the best way to force the application context to shut down? If I throw a RuntimeException in the message listener, it is handled by the container, and not passed on. Is calling System.exit acceptable? Do I pass along the ApplicationContext to every class that needs to shut down, so I can call close() on it?

  I need to test a logical expression held in a string to see if it evaluate to TRUE or FALSE.(the strig is built dynamically) For example the resulting string may contain "'dog'<'cat' OR (14 AND 4<6)". There are no variables in the string, it will logically evaluate. It will only contain simple operators = < < = <= and AND , OR and Open and Close Brackets, string constants and numbers. (converted to correct syntax && || etc.) I currently acheive this by creating a jscipt function and compiling it into a .dll. I then reference the .dll in my VB.NET project. class ExpressionEvaluator { function Evaluate(Expression : String) { return eval(Expression); } } Is there a simpler method using built in .NET functions or Lamdba expressions.

  Hi, My classifieds website has been present online since 2006, the html pages are indexed and rank as expected whereas a search on Google Images for site:example.com returns nothing & in Yahoo or Bing it returns only a few image results, 8 to 10. • Backgroundworker haults in between

  I am starting a process lets say abc.exe in a background worker. In the begining everything works fine but in between the newly created process i.e. abc.exe haults. Although I am starting abc.exe as hidden window but I come to know about its hang as it stopes doing log writing. When I close my UI form then again abc.exe starts working. Can anybody tell me what could be the possible cause for this? I am not able to debug the issue as it can happen at any time, I can not replicate it. Please tell me as it is very urgent for me. If some more info is required then please revert back.

FOPEN_MAX is 20, so I can't keep all 146 output files open at the same time. I also want to minimize the number of times I open and close an output file. How can I write to the output files effectively? I also must use the cstdlib library due to legacy code.

  I have Microsoft Word template that I automated filling it’s fields from my application, and when the user request print I open this template. but creating word application every time user request print after filling fields is very expensive and lead to some delay while opening the template, so I choose to cache the reference to Word then just open the new filled template. that solve the performance issue as opening file is less expensive than recreating Word each time, but this work while the user just close the document not the entire Word application which when happened my reference to Word become invalid and return with exception says: “The RPC server is unavailable” next time request opening template . I tried to subscribe to BeforClosing event but his trigger for Quitting Word as well as Closing documents. My question is how to know if the word is closing document or quit the entire application so I take the proper action, or any hint for another direction of thinking about improve performance of opening word template.

I'm doing this using jfugue library. the problem is when I'm tryingto stop playback with stop button (which call sequencer.stop() and sequencer.close()) the last played note is sound all of rest time, and I can't stop it. So I'm asking about solution about stopping all audio and MIDI too! sound playback from java application. Notice: If you want propose just mute volume, you need to know that I want end-use will be able to press play button again and hear the sound again, so muting volumr will be not a solution, or explain please. • Why do my Xcode default font starts to look ugly after some time, until I restart?

  I plugged in an external monitor. All resolutions match perfectly. MacBookPro LCD is closed. After about 10 minutes my fonts in Xcode start to look very bad. Only in Xcode. When I restart the mac and don't use an external monitor, fonts look all right again. When I attach the monitor again, fonts look nice. Then I close XCode and reopen it: Fonts suck. All other fonts look great. It seems like Xcode isn't antialiasing them properly after something happens. For my observation it happens when I quit and reopen Xcode while an external monitor is in use. Only way to fix it then is to completely reboot. Is there a fix for this problem?

  I'm currently working with extremely large fixed width files, sometimes well over a million lines. I have written a method that can write over the files based on a set of parameters, but I think there has to be a more efficient way to accomplish this.   I am trying to write a class that uses ADO to retrieve SQL records. The intent is for the class to maintain one private recordset an other methods move forward, retrieve fields, etc. This is a basic example of my class: class SqlADO { private: ADODB::_RecordsetPtr m_recordset; public: void Open(); //open the connection void Execute(const char* sql); // creates or replaces current recordset void Next(); //moves recordset cursor forward void Field(const char* fieldName); //retrieves field name from current record of the recordset }; My Questions: In the Execute method, how can I check to see that the recordset instance has been created (or do I need to) so that I can close it first? Do you know of any good ADO COM Interop references?
