• Change Win7 desktop background via Win2k3 Group Policy

  I'm experiencing some strange behavior: I have set the following policies: User Configuration\Administrative templates\Desktop\Active Desktop Enable active desktop [enabled] Active Desktop Wallpaper [set to local path -- quadruple checked; path is correct] Allow only bitmap wallpaper [disabled] gpupdate /force, log out, log back in, and the background is just black. • Hot fix published for TFS2010 upgrade issues

  Microsoft has released a hot fix for the issues that are identified after the migration of TFS2005/TFS2008 servers to TFS2010. The issues are related to Merging and Labels: ·         Labels that were created before the upgrade are entirely empty.  Labels could be also have incorrect contents. ·         The merge wizard in Visual Studio does not display all valid merge targets for a given source path/branch. ·         During merging, merge candidates are shown for changes that were already merged prior to the upgrade. If you have not yet upgraded to TFS 2010, the hotfix is now available and is highly recommended to be applied before configuring your team project collections. Because this hotfix applies to the upgrade of version control content, it must be applied after TFS 2010 setup is complete, but before configuration is started.  At the end of the setup experience, the Success screen is shown indicating the completion of the installation.  Normally, users will continue on to the configuration part, but in this case, the user need to cancel the configuration part by un-checking the “Launch Team Foundation Server Configuration Tool” box, which will enable the Cancel button. After exiting setup, the hotfix executable can be run to update the upgrade steps. Now every other day or so we get errors coming up in the event log: Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeSA Event Category: MAPI Session Event ID: 9175 Date: 10/03/2010 Time: 8:06:15 a.m. User: N/A Computer: SERVER Description: The MAPI call 'OpenMsgStore' failed with the following error: The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer has failed. Restarting the Exchange Information Store fixes this instantly, but until we do it Outlook won't connect to Exchange and Blackberry emails aren't pushing out.

  many developer thing to adopt IIS express aka Webmatrix to use inside visual studio. that the feature of Visual studio service pack 1. the visual studio 2010 sp1 allow developer to use webmatrix inside the visual studio. the developer can choose one of Visual studio development server or Webmatrix. the visual studio service pack 1 launch today but i am not recommended them because it’s in beta. if you use them then you may be in a big trouble because beta’s fundamental we all know. don’t be fool by installing them because they not tell you about both thing pros and cons. the stable version of visual studio is Visual studio who can be obtained from Microsoft download center not service pack 1. so beware to use unstable version. this is not browser then we have 3 option 1. chrome 2. firefox  3. Microsoft internet explorer [fool] because this is IDE and we have only one that can be problem if they work not well. the service pack 1 always changes your installation for visual studio Express edition [tool such as VWD or VCS express] if you already have them  i means service pack 1 then share your experience with us! if not that don’t look on Microsoft website blogs because they never tell you pros and cons of their software.

Below is a request from my UX colleagues that pulls all of it together. If you write and debug parallel code that uses GPUs for non-graphical, computationally intensive operations keep reading. The Microsoft Visual Studio Parallel Computing team is seeking developers for a 90-minute research study. The study will take place via LiveMeeting or at a usability lab in Redmond, depending on your preference. We will walk you through an example of debugging GPGPU code in Visual Studio with you giving us step-by-step feedback. ("Is this what you would you expect?", "Are we showing you the things that would help you?", "How would you improve this") The walkthrough utilizes a “paper” version of our current design. • BizTalk HL7 Receive Pipeline Exception

  If you experience sequence of errors below with BizTalk HL7 MLLP receive ports you may need to request a hotfix from Microsoft. Knowledge base article number is 2454887 but it’s still not available on the KB site. The hotfix is recently released and you may need to open support ticket to get to it. It requires three other hotfixes installed: ·         970492 (DASM 3.7.502.2) ·         973909 (additional ACK codes) ·         981442 (Microsoft.solutions.btahl7.mllp.dll 3.7.509.2) If the exceptions below repeatedly appear in the event log you most likely would be helped by the hotfix: Fatal error encountered in 2XDasm. Exception information is Cannot access a disposed object. Object name: 'CEventingReadStream'. There was a failure executing the receive pipeline: "BTAHL72XPipelines.BTAHL72XReceivePipeline, BTAHL72XPipelines, Version=1.3.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" Source: "BTAHL7 2.X Disassembler" Receive Port: "ReceivePortName" URI: "IPAddress:portNumber" Reason: Cannot access a disposed object. Object name: 'CEventingReadStream'. The Messaging Engine received an error from transport adapter "MLLP" when notifying the adapter with the BatchComplete event. Reason "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." We’ve been through a lot of troubleshooting with Microsoft Product Support and they did a great job finding an issue and releasing a fix.

  I think back to the days of the first versions of Visual Studio (when it was called Visual Studio .NET, remember?) and I think about how far Microsoft has come with this IDE. It really is the best IDE on the market. There is so much to this IDE it is amazing. It now can really handle managing your complete software application development lifecycle. For me, it is (besides Windows 7) the best and most successful product Microsoft has developed. You can obviously get this now and it is available on MSDN and some other places: MSDN Visual Studio Trial Editions Visual Studio 2010 Express Editions (free) You will also find great info at the Visual Studio Developer Center. Some other interesting tidbits of info: JetBrain’s ReSharper 5.0 has been released for VS2010 Oracle will have the new Oracle Dev Tools for VS2010 within one month - http://bit.ly/9gC9NE Visual Studio 64-bit - Why there is no 64-bit version of VS - http://bit.ly/dhhwAj In installing this version of Visual Studio, if you have been working on the previous RC builds, then you are going to want to uninstall these previous editions of the 2010 product. You can do this through the Add Remove Programs dialog and you are going to want to select the appropriate item from the long list of Visual Studio items. You are then going to want to step through the Visual Studio dialog (it will seem as if you are installing it again) – and you will then come to a point where you can select the option to Uninstall the entire application. If you have installed the Silverlight 4 RC stuff, then you are also going to want to uninstall this and you are also going to want to uninstall the “Update for Visual Studio 2010 (KB976272)” before installing Silverlight RC2 – which you can find on www.silverlight.net. • Application Event Log keeps getting corrupted

  I recently asked about repairing a corrupt event log, because it seemed to be a one-off event. The event log has since exhibited the same behavior 3 times. We have been trying to find patterns, but so far we have found nothing. The server runs several ASP.NET applications and three scheduled tasks written in .NET. The last modified date of the event log once happened to be the same time as one of the scheduled tasks, but the others have not been. Any suggestions of where to look next or a way we can get any information out of a corrupt evtx file? The server is running critical e-commerce applications, so we want to keep the number of restarts required to a minimum.   SharePoint 2010 Training: more information Fellow citizens of the tech world, you’re watching a good Samaritan die. Unfortunately this is not the first time, it won’t be the last. We have seen this before, sadly we will see it again. The IT industry, is a few sharks – Oracle, Apple, Google, and yes, Microsoft, and numerous small fishes around them. 10 years ago, you saw some innovating smart engineers create instant-messaging programs. There was rapid innovation and growth in that field even though internet itself was quite nascent. Remember ICQ? Well, then came around the sharks! They offered you free versions of IM programs that in the short run were actually superior. Yahoo messenger, MSN, AIM and then later on google.  Innovation in IM was pretty much stand still until a new contender like skype decided to marry IM with telephony. • 2013 U.S. GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy Available for Public Review and Comment

  FASB recently released the proposed 2013 U.S. GAAP Reporting Taxonomy. Comments are due October 29, 2012 to be finalized and published early 2013.  The proposed 2013 U.S. GAAP taxonomy and instructions on how to submit comments are available at the FASB’s XBRL page. In previous blog entries, I talked about how Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management supports the latest taxonomy, enabling financial managers to easily comply with the latest filing requirements. The taxonomy is a list of computer-readable tags in XBRL that allows companies to annotate the voluminous financial data that is included in typical long-form financial statements and related footnote disclosures. The tags allow computers to automatically search for, assemble, and process data so it can be readily accessed and analyzed by investors, analysts, journalists, and regulators. You do not have to have Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, used for consolidating financial results, to generate XBRL. You just need Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management to generate XBRL instance documents from financial applications, such as Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle PeopleSoft, Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and Oracle Fusion General Ledger. To generate XBRL tags and complete SEC filings using your existing financial applications with Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management, here are the steps: Download the XBRL taxonomy from the SEC or XBRL Website into Hyperion Disclosure Management to create a company taxonomy. Publish financial statements from the general ledger to Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word. Create the SEC filing in the Microsoft programs and perform the XBRL tag mapping in Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management. Ensure that the SEC filing meets XBRL and SEC EDGAR Filer Manual validation requirements. Validate and submit the company taxonomy and XBRL instance document to the SEC. • Links for Getting Started with PowerShell for Office 365 and Exchange Online

But how to ensure that is these Ip are in use or not ? in terms of status ? What should its status ? Second solution is : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters\ListenOnlyList. But this key is not found .

• Is there a SUPPORTED way to run .NET 4.0 applications natively on a Mac?

  What, if any, are the Microsoft supported options for running C#/.NET 4.0 code natively on the Mac? Yes, I know about Mono, but among other things, it lags Microsoft. And Silverlight only works in a web browser. A VMWare-type solution won't cut it either. Here's the subjective part (and might get this closed): is there any semi-authoritative answer to why Microsoft just doesn't support .NET on the Mac itself? It would seem like they could Silverlight and/or buy Mono and quickly be there. No need for native Visual Studio; cross-compiling and remote debugging is fine. The reason is that where I work there is a growing amount of Uncertainty about the future which is causing a lot more development to be done in C++ instead of C#; brand new projects are chosing to use C++. Nobody wants to tell management 18–24 months from now "sorry" should the Mac (or iPad) become a requirement. C++ is seen as the safer option, even if it (arguably) means a loss in productivity today.
