  • About best practices of JMS integration using TIBCO .Net client

    I'm working on an integration project where I'm talking to JMS framework using TIBCO .Net client. A colleague is recommdending a design decision based on a fear of receiving too many messages suddenly in a way that our application can't handle it. We are using Asynchronous mode while receiving messages. I'm new to that topic so I couldn't find quick best practices to support his clam or mine. Any suggestions? How can I test this subject?

    I have a set of IIS7-hosted net.tcp WCF services that serve my ASP.NET MVC web application. The web application is accessed over the internet. WCF Services (IIS7) <--> ASP.NET MVC Application <--> Client Browser The services are username authenticated, the account that a client (of my web application) uses to logon ends up as the current principal on the host. I want one of the services to be authenticated differently, because it serves the view model for my logon view. When it's called, the client is obviously not logged on yet. I figure Windows authentication serves best or perhaps just certificate based security (which in fact I should use for the authenticated services as well) if the services are hosted on a machine that is not in the same domain as the web application. That's not the point here though. Using multiple TCP bindings is what's giving me trouble. I tried setting it up like this: <bindings> <netTcpBinding> <binding> <security mode="TransportWithMessageCredential"> <message clientCredentialType="UserName"/> </security> </binding> <binding name="public"> <security mode="Transport"> <message clientCredentialType="Windows"/> </security> </binding> </netTcpBinding> </bindings> The thing is that both bindings don't seem to want live together in my host. When I remove either of them, all's fine but together they produce the following exception on the client: The requested upgrade is not supported by 'net.tcp://localhost:8081/Service2.svc'. This could be due to mismatched bindings (for example security enabled on the client and not on the server). In the server trace log, I find the following exception: Protocol Type application/negotiate was sent to a service that does not support that type of upgrade. Am I looking into the right direction or is there a better way to solve this?

  • Updating a progress bar while wpf data binding is taking place (in c#)

    I bind a large dataset to a WPF list box which can take a long time (more than ten seconds). While the the data is being bound I'd like to display a circular progress bar I can't get the progress bar to show while the data binding is occurring, even though I am trying to do the binding in a backgroundworker. I tested it by making the first line of the backgroundworkd's dowork event a Thread.Sleep(5000) and sure enough the progress bar started spinning for that duration only to freeze while when the binding started. Is this because both the databinding and the UI updating have to occur on the same thread? Any ideas on how to work around it? Thanks for your help!!

  • Need additional help with binding multiple CommandParameters using MultiBinding

    I need to have a command handler for a ToggleButton that can take multiple parameters, namely the IsChecked property of said ToggleButton, along with a constant value, which could be a string, byte, int... doesn't matter. I found this great question on SO and followed the answer's link and read up on MultiBinding and IMultiValueConverter. It went really smoothly until I had to write the MultiBinding, when I realized that I also need to pass a constant value and couldn't do something like <Binding Value="1" /> I then came across another similar question that Kent Boogaart answered, and then I started to think about ways that I could get around this. One possible way is to not use MVVM and simply add the Tag property to my ToggleButton, in which case my MultiBinding would look like this: <MultiBinding Converter="{StaticResource MyConverter}"> <MultiBinding.Bindings> <Binding Path="IsChecked" /> <Binding Path="Tag" /> </MultiBinding.Bindings> </MultiBinding> Kent had made a comment along the lines of, "if you're using MVVM you should be able to get around this issue". However, I'm not sure that's an option for me, even though I have adopted MVVM as my WPF pattern of necessity choice. The reason why I say this is that I have wayyyy more than one ToggleButton in the UserControl, and each of the ToggleButtons' Commands need to call the same function. But since they are ToggleButtons, I can't use the property bound to IsChecked in the ViewModel, because I don't know which one was last clicked. I suppose I could add another private property to keep track of this, but it seems a little silly. As far as the constant goes, I could probably get rid of this if I did the tracking idea, but not sure of any other way to get around it.   • C++ Profiling: KiFastSystemCallRet

    I searched for this after seeing it's the top rated item when profiling using Very Sleepy, and it seems everyone gets the answer "it's a system function, ignore it". But Sleepy's hint for the function says: Hint: KiFastSystemCallRet often means the thread was waiting for something else to finish. Possible causes might be disk I/O, waiting for an event, or maybe just calling Sleep(). Now, my app is absolutely thrashing the CPU and so it's a bit weird 33% of the time is spent waiting for something to happen. Do I really just ignore it? EDIT: apparently, 77% of the calls to this come from QueryOglResource (?) which is in module nvd3dnum. I think that might be nvidia Direct3D stuff, i.e rendering.

The contents inside the UIActionSheet which is a subview changes but the actual sheet remains in the same place which looks very awkward.   • FileSystemWatcher.WaitForChanged returns, but there is still a lock on the file

    I have a program that send a document to a pdf printer driver and that driver prints to a particular directory. After the print I want to attach the pdf to an e-mail (MailMessage) and send it off. Right now, I send the document to the printer (wich spawns a new process) and then call a FileSystemWatcher.WaitForChanged(WaitForChangedResult.Created) but when the object is created, it's still not done "printing" and the pdf printer still has a lock on it, throwing an error when I try to attach that file to an e-mail. I've considered a plain Thread.Sleep(2000) or whatever, but that's far less than ideal. I considered putting the attachment code in a try/catch block and looping on failure, but again, that's just bad news. I can't really think of an elegant solution.

    Question re-written on 2010-03-24 I have two UserControls, where one is a dialog that has a TabControl, and the other is one that appears within said TabControl. I'll just call them CandyDialog and CandyNameViewer for simplicity's sake. There's also a data management class called Tracker that manages information storage, which for all intents and purposes just exposes a public property that is an ObservableCollection. As long as CandyNames is populated first, and then the consumer UserControl is displayed, all of the names are there. I obviously don't get any errors in the Output Window or anything like that. The issue I have is that when the ObservableCollection is modified from the model, those changes are not reflected in the consumer UserControl! I've never had this problem before; all of my previous uses of ObservableCollection updated fine, although in those cases I wasn't databinding across assemblies. Although I am currently only adding and removing candy names to/from the ObservableCollection, at a later date I will likely also allow renaming from the model side. Is there something I did wrong? Is there a good way to actually debug this? Reed Copsey indicates here that inter-UserControl databinding is possible. Unfortunately, my favorite Bea Stollnitz article on WPF databinding debugging doesn't suggest anything that I could use for this particular problem.

  • IIS7 MVC deploy - 404 not found on actions that accept "id" parameter.

    Hello. Once deployed parts of my web-application stop working. Index-es on each controller do work, and one form posting via Ajax, Login works too. Other then that yields 404. I understand that nothing particular should be done in integrated mode. I don't know how to proceed with troubleshooting. Some info: App is using default app pool set to integrated mode. WebApp is done in net framework 3.5. I use default routing model. Along web.config in root there is web.config in /View folder referencing HttpNotFoundHandler. OS is Windows Server 2008. Admins issued aspnet_regiis.exe -i IIS 7 Any help is appreciated. Thx. EDIT: I determined that only actions that accept ID parameter don't work. On the contrary, when I add dummy id method in Home controller of default MVC app it works.   • SmartGWT Program not displaying getting wnd.isc.Browser is null

    When running my gwt program in GWT Development Mode it fails to display showing this error in the console: com.google.gwt.core.client.JavaScriptException: (TypeError): '$wnd.isc.Browser' is null or not an object I do not believe the error is due to my project setup. Other member of the team can compile fine. It is most likely some type of config problem on my end. I have re-checked out the project and still get the error. I am using the latest jdk 1.6.0_19 if that matters

  • Reorder cells in a UITableView without displaying a "delete" button

    I want to be able to reorder cells in a table, but not to delete or insert them. I want a picture like this: This image appears in Apple's Table View Programming Guige, but the code samples there produce a table with red "delete" buttons when the table goes into editing mode. I can set editingStyleForRowAtIndexPath to UITableViewCellEditingStyleNone and that makes the delete buttons go away, but the rows are still indented as if to make room for these buttons.

    When I have a computationally expensive flash animation running in my page, sometimes javascript keyUp listeners on a textfield are not being fired. Keydown events are not lost. This only happens in IE8 (and IE7 in compatibility mode). I need those keyup listeners! How can I solve / workaround this problem? Ideas: query the textfield myself (without the broken listener) if the key is down or up? can I do this?

  • UITableView : crash when adding a section footer view in empty section

    Hi everyone, This is the first time I ask a question here, but I have to say this site has been a tremendous help for me over the last couple months (iphone-dev-wise), and I thank you for that. However, I didn't find any solution for this problem I'm having: I have a UITableView with 2 sections, and no rows when the app is launched for the first time. The user can fill the sections later on as he wishes (the content is not relevant here). The UITableView looks good when filled with rows, but looks pretty ugly when there is none (the 2 header sections are stuck together with no white space in between). That is why I'd like to add a nice "No row" view in between when there is no row. I used viewForFooterInSection: - (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForFooterInSection:(NSInteger)section { if(section == 0) { if([firstSectionArray count] == 0) return 44; else return 0; } return 0; } - (UIView *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView viewForFooterInSection:(NSInteger)section{ if(section == 0) { UILabel *label = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(200, 10, 50, 44)]; label.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; label.textColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:0.6 alpha:1.0]; label.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentCenter; label.lineBreakMode = UILineBreakModeWordWrap; label.numberOfLines = 0; label.text = @"No row"; return [label autorelease]; } return nil; } - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 2; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { if(section == 0) { return [firstSectionArray count]; } return [secondSectionArray count]; } This works great : the footer view appears only when there is no row in section 0. But my app crashes when I enter edit mode and delete the last row in section 0: Assertion failure in -[UIViewAnimation initWithView:indexPath:endRect:endAlpha:startFraction:endFraction:curve:animateFromCurrentPosition:shouldDeleteAfterAnimation:editing:] Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Cell animation stop fraction must be greater than start fraction' This does not happen when there are several rows in section 0. It only happens when there is only one row left. Here's the code for edit mode: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView commitEditingStyle:(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // If row is deleted, remove it from the list. if (editingStyle == UITableViewCellEditingStyleDelete) { // Find the book at the deleted row, and remove from application delegate's array. if(indexPath.section == 0) { [firstSectionArray removeObjectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; } else { [secondSectionArray removeObjectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; } // Animate the deletion from the table.   • Disable eclipselink caching and query caching - not working?

    I am using eclipselink JPA with a database which is also being updated externally to my application. For that reason there are tables I want to query every few seconds. I can't get this to work even when I try to disable the cache and query cache. For example: EntityManagerFactory entityManagerFactory = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("default"); EntityManager em = entityManagerFactory.createEntityManager(); MyLocation one = em.createNamedQuery("MyLocation.findMyLoc").getResultList().get(0); Thread.sleep(10000); MyLocation two = em.createNamedQuery("MyLocation.findMyLoc").getResultList().get(0); System.out.println(one.getCapacity() + " - " + two.getCapacity()); Even though the capacity changes while my application is sleeping the println always prints the same value for one and two. I have added the following to the persistence.xml <property name="eclipselink.cache.shared.default" value="false"/> <property name="eclipselink.query-results-cache" value="false"/> I must be missing something but am running out of ideas.
