  • What is the "owning side" in an ORM mapping?

    - by Yousui
Hi guys, I'm new to JPA. Now I have a question that what exactly is the owning side mean? I only have a rough idea of it. Can someone give me an explanation with some mapping examples(one to many, one to one, many to one) please? Great thanks. ps, the following text is excerpt from the decription of @OneToOne in java EE 6 documentation. You can see the concept owning side in it. Defines a single-valued association to another entity that has one-to-one multiplicity. It is not normally necessary to specify the associated target entity explicitly since it can usually be inferred from the type of the object being referenced. If the relationship is bidirectional, the non-owning side must use the mappedBy element of the OneToOne annotation to specify the relationship field or property of the owning side.

  • How do I overlay an icon/image onto another image on form submission?

    - by marcamillion
So I am trying to add an icon to an image, once someone has 'tagged' a portion of the image - i.e. they have submitted the form. How do I do that in jQuery? Just to be clear...imagine you are on flickr and you see an image. You want to add an annotation, you click on the image where you want, and it shows you a form field. You enter the information you want to, then after you have done so, there is a small image left on top of the picture that shows where you have left a comment. Any ideas?

  • Hibernate Lazy init exception in spring scheduled job

    - by Noam Nevo
I have a spring scheduled job (@Scheduled) that sends emails from my system according to a list of recipients in the DB. This method is annotated with the @Scheduled annotation and it invokes a method from another interface, the method in the interface is annotated with the @Transactional annotation. Now, when i invoke the scheduled method manually, it works perfectly. But when the method is invoked by spring scheduler i get the LazyInitFailed exception in the method implementing the said interface. What am I doing wrong? code: The scheduled method: @Component public class ScheduledReportsSender { public static final int MAX_RETIRES = 3; public static final long HALF_HOUR = 1000 * 60 * 30; @Autowired IScheduledReportDAO scheduledReportDAO; @Autowired IDataService dataService; @Autowired IErrorService errorService; @Scheduled(cron = "0 0 3 ? * *") // every day at 2:10AM public void runDailyReports() { // get all daily reports List<ScheduledReport> scheduledReports = scheduledReportDAO.getDaily(); sendScheduledReports(scheduledReports); } private void sendScheduledReports(List<ScheduledReport> scheduledReports) { if(scheduledReports.size()<1) { return; } //check if data flow ended its process by checking the report_last_updated table in dwh int reportTimeId = scheduledReportDAO.getReportTimeId(); String todayTimeId = DateUtils.getTimeid(DateUtils.getTodayDate()); int yesterdayTimeId = Integer.parseInt(DateUtils.addDaysSafe(todayTimeId, -1)); int counter = 0; //wait for time id to update from the daily flow while (reportTimeId != yesterdayTimeId && counter < MAX_RETIRES) { errorService.logException("Daily report sender, data not ready. Will try again in one hour.", null, null, null); try { Thread.sleep(HALF_HOUR); } catch (InterruptedException ignore) {} reportTimeId = scheduledReportDAO.getReportTimeId(); counter++; } if (counter == MAX_RETIRES) { MarketplaceServiceException mse = new MarketplaceServiceException(); mse.setMessage("Data flow not done for today, reports are not sent."); throw mse; } // get updated timeid updateTimeId(); for (ScheduledReport scheduledReport : scheduledReports) { dataService.generateScheduledReport(scheduledReport); } } } The Invoked interface: public interface IDataService { @Transactional public void generateScheduledReport(ScheduledReport scheduledReport); } The implementation (up to the line of the exception): @Service public class DataService implements IDataService { public void generateScheduledReport(ScheduledReport scheduledReport) { // if no recipients or no export type - return if(scheduledReport.getRecipients()==null || scheduledReport.getRecipients().size()==0 || scheduledReport.getExportType() == null) { return; } } } Stack trace: ERROR: 2012-09-01 03:30:00,365 [Scheduler-15] LazyInitializationException.<init>(42) • Starting new transaction within existing one in Spring bean

    - by Marcus
We have: @Transactional(propagation = Propagation.REQUIRED) public class MyClass implementes MyInterface { ... MyInterface has a single method: go(). When go() executes we start a new transaction which commits/rollbacks when the method is complete - this is fine. Now let's say in go() we call a private method in MyClass that has @Transactional(propagation = Propagation.REQUIRES_NEW. It seems that Spring "ignores" the REQUIRES_NEW annotation and does not start a new transaction. I believe this is because Spring AOP operates on the interface level (MyInterface) and does not intercept any calls to MyClass methods. Is this correct? Is there any way to start a new transaction within the go() transaction? Is the only way to call another Spring managed bean that has transactions configured as REQUIRES_NEW?

  • How to set response header in JAX-RS so that user sees download popup for Excel?

    - by masato-san
I wrote code that generate Excel file using REST JAX-RS and I confirmed that the generated Excel file is in GlassFish server directory. But my goal is when user click on the button (which generate Excel .xls), I want download popup to show up asking user whether to save or open the .xls file just like any other web services doing for downloading any type of files. According to my search, the step is: generate Excel .xls (DONE) write the excel to stream in JAX-RS file, set response header to something like, String fileName = "Blah_Report.xls"; response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + fileName); My question is I'm doing all of this in JAX-RS file and I don't have HttpServletResponse object available. According to the answer from Add Response Header to JAX-RS Webservice He says: You can inject a reference to the actual HttpServletResponse via the @Context annotation in your webservice and use addHeader() etc. to add your header. I can't really figure what exactly that means without sample code..

  • getting a key out of a javascript hash

    - by mcintyre321
I working with the latest draft of the twitter annotations api. An example bit of data looks like status { annotations : [ {myAnnotationType:{myKey:myValue}}, {someoneElsesAnnotationType:{theirKey:theirValue}}, ] } now i want to check a status to see if it has an annotation with myAnnotationType in it. If annotations was a hash instead of an array I could just write var ann = status.annotations.myAnnotationType. But its not so I wrote this instead: function getKeys(obj){ var keys = []; for (key in obj) { if (obj.hasOwnProperty(key)) { keys[keys.length] = key; } } return keys; } function getAnnotation(status, type){ for(var i=0;i<status.annotations.length;i++){ var keys = getKeys(status.annotations[i]); for(var j=0;j<keys.length;j++){ if(keys[j] == type){ return status.annotations[i]; } } } } var ann = getAnnotation(status, "myAnnotationType"); There must be a better way! Is there? PS I can't use jquery or anything as this is js to be used in a caja widget and the container doesn't support external libs

  • hibernate formula with column

    - by coolguy
I have a table with a column that will be encrypted by a trigger after the record is inserted. When I read the column, I need to apply a decrypt function in the hibernate domain class. While saving the object, the value of the column will be saved as such. While reading the column, apply a database function on the read data. @Formula and @Column annotation cannot be applied to an attribute in the entity class. How do I achieve this functionality without using one attribute for saving and another one with @Formula for reading it?

  • How to auto create a JMS topic/queue on JBoss in a portable and per-application way?

    - by Bozho
It's simple: I have an MDB and an EJB that sends messages to a topic (or queue). JBoss complains that the topic is not bound to the JNDI context. I want to have the topic/queue to be automatically created at best, or at least to have a standard way to define it, per application (say, in ejb-jar/META-INF) this question and this blogpost show us how to do it in an application server specific way. This surely works, but: I want to use the @MessageDriven annotation I want the setting not to be global for the application server I want the setting to be portable

  • How to preserve struct member identifiers when compiling to LLVM IR with Clang?

    - by smokris
Say I have the following C structure definition: struct stringStructure { char *stringVariable; }; For the above, Clang produces the following LLVM IR: %struct.stringStructure = type { i8* } ...which includes everything in my definition except the variable identifier stringVariable. I'd like to find some way to export the identifier into the generated LLVM IR, so that I can refer to it by name from my application (which uses the LLVM C++ API). I've tried adding the annotate attribute, as follows: char *stringVariable __attribute__((annotate("stringVariable"))); ...but the annotation doesn't seem to make it through (the structure is still just defined as type { i8* }). Any ideas?

  • Hibernate doesn't generate cascade

    - by Shervin
Hi. I have a set hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto to create so that Hibernate creates the tables in mysql for me. However, it doesn't seem that hibernate correctly adds Cascade on the references in the table. It does however work when I for instance delete a row, and I have a delete cascade as hibernate annotation. So I guess that means that Hibernate reads the annoation on runtime, and perform cascading manually? Is that normal behavior? For instance: @Entity class Report { @OneToOne(cascade = CascadeType.ALL) public File getPdf() { return pdf; } } Here I have set cascade to ALL. However, when running show create table Report Report | CREATE TABLE `Report` ( `id` bigint(20) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `pdf_id` bigint(20) DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`), KEY `FK91B14154FDE6543A` (`pdf_id`), CONSTRAINT `FK91B14154FDE6543A` FOREIGN KEY (`pdf_id`) REFERENCES `File` (`id`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 | It doesn't say anything about cascading other then the foreign key. In my opinion, it should have added the ON DELETE CASCADE ON DELETE UPDATE

  • spring-nullpointerexception- cant access autowired annotated service (or dao) in a no-annotations class

    - by user286806
I have this problem that I cannot fix. From my @Controller, i can easily access my autowired @Service class and play with it no problem. But when I do that from a separate class without annotations, it gives me a NullPointerException. My Controller (works)- @Controller public class UserController { @Autowired UserService userService;... My separate Java class (not working)- public final class UsersManagementUtil { @Autowired UserService userService; or @Autowired UserDao userDao; userService or userDao are always null! • Hibernate not using schema and catalog name in id generation with strategy increment

    - by Ben
Hi, I am using the hibernate increment strategy to create my IDs on my entities. @GenericGenerator(name="increment-strategy", strategy="increment") @Id @GeneratedValue(generator="increment=strategy") @Column(name="HDR_ID", unique=true, nullable=false) public int getHdrId(){ return this.hdrId; } The entity has the following table annotation @Table(name = "PORDER.PUB.PO_HEADER", schema = "UVOSi", catalog = "VIRT_UVOS") Please note I have two datasources. When I try to insert an entity Hibernate creates the following SQL statement: select max(hdr_id) from PORDER.PUB.PO_HEADER which causes the following error: Group specified is ambiguous, resubmit the query by fully qualifying group name. When I create a query by hand with entityManager.createQuery() hibernate uses the fully qualified name select XXX from VIRT_UVOS.UVOSi.PORDER.PUB.PO_HEADER and that works fine. So how do I get Hibernate to use the fully qualified name in the Id autogeneration? Btw. I am using Hibernate 3.2 and Seam 2.2 running on JBoss 4.2.3 Regards Immo

  • @SequenceGenerator - allocationSize, reverse engineering with Eclipse Hibernate Tools

    - by Spooky
I use the Eclipse Hibernate Tools to create domain classes with JPA annotations from my Oracle database. To control sequence generation I have added the following entry to the hibernate.reveng.xml: ... <primary-key> <generator class="sequence"> <param name="sequence">SEQ_FOO_ID</param> </generator> </primary-key> ... This results in the following annotation: @SequenceGenerator(name = "generator", sequenceName = "SEQ_FOO_ID") However I need to set the "allocationSize" like this: @SequenceGenerator(name = "generator", sequenceName = "SEQ_FOO_ID", allocationSize = 1) Is it possible to set this somehow in the hibernate.reveng.xml?

  • Using @NotNull in a project where both IntelliJ and Eclipse developers are working

    - by Gugussee
A co-worker on IntelliJ IDEA (working on another project) showed me the amazing @NotNull annotation. I've read messages here on SO about how starting to add @NotNull everywhere saved lots of time and headaches (and IntelliJ 10 can even add automatically @NotNull to old code when it detects that null would break havoc). Since I read my first "Probable @NotNull violation" message (in real-time, in the IDE, even on a partial .java file that doesn't compile yet) my jaw dropped and I got hooked. So I was wondering: is there anything that needs to be known if we want to start using @NotNull in a project where developers are using both Eclipse and IntelliJ? I know IntelliJ ships with the annotations.jar. Is this compatible with Eclipse?

  • How does one avoid "Value restriction" errors with F#'s Seq.cast?

I see that Seq has a cast function from IEnumerable to Seq, but how do I get it to work? open System.Text.RegularExpressions;; let v = Regex.Match("abcd", "(ab)");; Seq.cast (v.Captures);; This produces, error FS0030: Value restriction. The value 'it' has been inferred to have generic type val it : seq<'_a Either define 'it' as a simple data term, make it a function with explicit arguments or, if you do not intend for it to be generic, add a type annotation.

  • Spring Hibernate Connection through AOP standalone application

    - by Kiran
I am trying to develop Annotation based Spring Hibernate standalone application to connect to DB. I've gone through the some blogs and wondered like we should not make use of hibernateTemplate becoz coupling your application tightly to the spring framework. For this reason, Spring recommends that HibernateTemplate no longer be used.Further more my requirement is changed to Spring Hibernate with AOP using Declarative Transaction management.I am new to AOP concepts. Can any one please give an example on Spring Hibernate Connection through AOP. That would be a great help to me. Thanks in advance.

  • FieldError when annotating over foreign keys

    - by X_9
I have a models file that looks similar to the following: class WithDate(models.Model): adddedDate = models.DateTimeField(auto_now_add=True) modifiedDate = models.DateTimeField(auto_now=True) class Meta: abstract = True class Match(WithDate): ... class Notify(WithDate): matchId = models.ForeignKey(Match) headline = models.CharField(null=True, blank=True, max_length=10) For each Match I'm trying to get a count of notify records that have a headline. So my call looks like matchObjs = Match.objects.annotate(notifies_made=Count('notify__headline__isnull')) This keeps throwing a FieldError. I've simplified the query down to matchObjs = Match.objects.annotate(notifies_made=Count('notify')) And I still get the same FieldError... I've seen this work in other cases (other documentation, other SO questions like this one) but I can't figure out why I'm getting an error. The specific error that is returned is as follows: Cannot resolve keyword 'notify' into field. Choices are: (all fields from Match model) Does anyone have a clue as to why I can't get this annotation to work across tables? I'm baffled after looking at the other SO question and various Django docs where I've seen this done. Edit: I am using Django 1.1.1

  • JSF2 - use view scope managed bean to pass value between navigation

    - by Fekete Kamosh
Hi all, I am solving how to pass values from one page to another without making use of session scope managed bean. For most managed beans I would like to have only Request scope. I created a very, very simple calculator example which passes Result object resulting from actions on request bean (CalculatorRequestBean) from 5th phase as initializing value for new instance of request bean initialized in next phase lifecycle. In fact - in production environment we need to pass much more complicated data object which is not as primitive as Result defined below. What is your opinion on this solution which considers both possibilities - we stay on the same view or we navigate to the new one. But in both cases I can get to previous value stored passed using view scoped managed bean. Calculator page: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"> <h:head> <title>Calculator</title> </h:head> <h:body> <h:form> <h:panelGrid columns="2"> <h:outputText value="Value to use:"/> <h:inputText value="#{calculatorBeanRequest.valueToAdd}"/> <h:outputText value="Navigate to new view:"/> <h:selectBooleanCheckbox value="#{calculatorBeanRequest.navigateToNewView}"/> <h:commandButton value="Add" action="#{calculatorBeanRequest.add}"/> <h:commandButton value="Subtract" action="#{calculatorBeanRequest.subtract}"/> <h:outputText value="Result:"/> <h:outputText value="#{calculatorBeanRequest.result.value}"/> <h:outputText value="DUMMY" rendered="#{resultBeanView.dummy}"/> </h:panelGrid> </h:form> </h:body> Object to be passed through lifecycle: package cz.test.calculator; import java.io.Serializable; /** * Data object passed among pages. * Lets imagine it holds something much more complicated than primitive int */ public class Result implements Serializable { private int value; public void setValue(int value) { this.value = value; } public int getValue() { return value; } } Request scoped managed bean used on view "calculator.xhtml" package cz.test.calculator; import javax.annotation.PostConstruct; import javax.faces.bean.ManagedBean; import javax.faces.bean.ManagedProperty; import javax.faces.bean.RequestScoped; @ManagedBean @RequestScoped public class CalculatorBeanRequest { @ManagedProperty(value="#{resultBeanView}") ResultBeanView resultBeanView; private Result result; private int valueToAdd; /** * Should perform navigation to */ private boolean navigateToNewView; /** Creates a new instance of CalculatorBeanRequest */ public CalculatorBeanRequest() { } @PostConstruct public void init() { // Remember already saved result from view scoped bean result = resultBeanView.getResult(); } // Dependency injections public void setResultBeanView(ResultBeanView resultBeanView) { this.resultBeanView = resultBeanView; } public ResultBeanView getResultBeanView() { return resultBeanView; } // Getters, setter public void setValueToAdd(int valueToAdd) { this.valueToAdd = valueToAdd; } public int getValueToAdd() { return valueToAdd; } public boolean isNavigateToNewView() { return navigateToNewView; } public void setNavigateToNewView(boolean navigateToNewView) { this.navigateToNewView = navigateToNewView; } public Result getResult() { return result; } // Actions public String add() { result.setValue(result.getValue() + valueToAdd); return isNavigateToNewView() ? - by Thomman
I'm using expectedExceptionsMessageRegExp annotation to test exception message, but the this is not executing correctly.please see the below code. Unit Test code: @Test (dependsOnMethods = "test1", expectedExceptions = IllegalArgumentException.class , expectedExceptionsMessageRegExp = "incorrect argument") public void testConverter() { try { currencyConverter = Converter.convert(val1,val2) } catch (MYException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } Application code: if (val1 == null || val1.length() == 0) { throw new IllegalArgumentException("Val1 is incorrect"); } The unit test code should check the exception message , if both message are not matching , it should throw fail (unit test failed) . At present this is not happening , Am i doing something wrong?

  • Starting new transaction in Spring bean

    - by Marcus
    We have: @Transactional(propagation = Propagation.REQUIRED) public class MyClass implementes MyInterface { ... MyInterface has a single method: go(). When go() executes we start a new transaction which commits/rollbacks when the method is complete - this is fine. Now let's say in go() we call a private method in MyClass that has @Transactional(propagation = Propagation.REQUIRES_NEW. It seems that Spring "ignores" the REQUIRES_NEW annotation and does not start a new transaction. I believe this is because Spring AOP operates on the interface level (MyInterface) and does not intercept any calls to MyClass methods. Is this correct? Is there any way to start a new transaction within the go() transaction? Is the only way to call another Spring managed bean that has transactions configured as REQUIRES_NEW? Update: Adding that when clients execute go() they do so via a reference to the interface, not the class: @Autowired MyInterface impl; impl.go();

  • Custom annotations to configure tests

    - by ace
First of al let me start off by saying I think custom annotations can be used for this but i'm not totally sure. I would like to have a set of annotations that I can decorate some test classes with. The annotations would allow me to configure the test for different environments. Example: public class Atest extends BaseTest{ private String env; @Login(environment=env) public void testLogin(){ //do something } @SignUp(environment=env) public void testSignUp(){ //do something } } The idea here would be that the login annotation would then be used to lookup the username and password to be used in the testLogin method for testing a login process for a particular environment. So my question(s) is this possible to do with annotations? If so I have not been able to find a decent howto online to do something like this. Everything out there seems to be your basic here's how to do your custom annotations and a basic processor but I haven't found anything for a situation like this. Ideas?

  • How to feed an xml database with tags obtained thru html forms ?

    - by blaise1
Hello! Not a programmer, I begin with xml, html forms and xslt on Mac. I plan to use a form to post short texts in a xhtml page and invite end users to add some annotations to the said text. The users would select a specific part of the text posted and each annotation would stand for one specific chain of characters. My goal is to consolidate the tags obtained from various user's annotations to one xml "knowledge base" containing the original text with all the revision indicators. Then I plan to use xslt sheets to product various reports based on the tags obtained. my two questions are : 1- am I dreaming ? Is it really possible to do that with xml, xforms, xslt without using java, php, ajax or other seasoned programmer's tools ? 2- What should be my focus for further explorations aiming in that direction ? Which schema, events, sequences should I study ? Je vous remercie à l'avance, Please excuse my English. Blaise

  • Auto injecting logger with guice

    - by koss
With reference to Guice's custom injections article, its TypeListener performs a check for InjectLogger.class annotation - which can be optional. Removing that check will inject to all Logger.class types. class Log4JTypeListener implements TypeListener { public <T> void hear(TypeLiteral<T> typeLiteral, TypeEncounter<T> typeEncounter) { for (Field field : typeLiteral.getRawType().getDeclaredFields()) { if (field.getType() == Logger.class && field.isAnnotationPresent(InjectLogger.class)) { typeEncounter.register(new Log4JMembersInjector<T>(field)); } } } } I'm tempted to remove "&& field.isAnnotationPresent(InjectLogger.class)" from the listener. If we're using Guice to inject all instances of our Logger, is there any reason not to do it automatically (without need to annotate)?

  • EJB injection in Glassfish webapp

    - by g051051
I've got an app that is trying to use @EJB annotation to inject remote references to EJBs in my ejb.jar file. I'm getting inconsistent results. In one case, I have a listener in web.xml that gets called and apparently has the EJB injected correctly, since I can see it connecting to the EJB and calling methods on it. In another class (a struts2 action) I get NPE when it tries to access the EJB reference. As far as I can tell, they're identical calls, in Java classes that live in the same .war file. As a work around, I added code in the constructor to lookup the EJBs by their global JNDI names, and it works fine. I just can't figure out why one @EJB works and not another.

  • Inheritance in kohana

    - by Binaryrespawn
Hi all, I have recently started to use Kohana and I know inheritance is in infancy stages at the moment. The work around is using a $_has_one annotation on the child class model. In may case i have "page" as the parent of "article". I have something like, protected $_has_one = array('mypage'=>array('model'=>'page', 'foreign_key'=>'id')); In my controller, I have an action which queries the database. In this query I am trying to access fields form the parent of "article" which is the "page". $n->articles=ORM::factory('article')->where('expires','=',0) ->where('articledate','<',date('y-m-d')) ->where('expirydate','>',date('y-m-d')) ->where('mypage->status','=','PUBLISHED') ->order_by('articledate','desc') ->find_all(); The status column resides in the page table and my query is generating an error to the effect of "cannot find status", clearly because it belongs to the parent. Any ideas ?
