  • How to convert a MSSQL database (including procedures, functions and triggers) to a firebird databas

    - by user193655
I am considering migrating to Firebird. To have a "quick start" approach I downloaded the trial of a conversion tool (DBConvert) and tried it. I just picked up a random tool, this tool doesn't convert procedures, functions and triggers (I don't think it is a limit of the trial since there is not an explicit reference to sp, sf and triggers in the link above). Anyway by trying that tool I had the message: "The DB cannot be converted succesfully because some FK names are too long." This is because in some tables I have FK whose description is 32 chars. Is this a real firebird limit or it is possible to overcome it somehow (of course renaming the FK is an extreme option because it is extra work)? Anyway how to convert a MS SQL DB fully to FIREBIRD? Is there a valid tool? Did someone succed in a conversion of non trivial databases?

  • Using sys/socket.h functions on windows

    - by BSchlinker
Hello, I'm attempting to utilize the socket.h functions within Windows. Essentially, I'm currently looking at the sample code at http://beej.us/guide/bgnet/output/html/multipage/clientserver.html#datagram. I understand that socket.h is a Unix function -- is there anyway I can easily emulate that environment while compiling this sample code? Does a different IDE / compiler change anything? Otherwise, I imagine that I need to utilize a virtualized Linux environment, which may be best anyways as the code will most likely be running in a UNIX environment. Thanks.

  • Content pulled in via jQuery AJAX is not associating with previous functions

    - by Jarsen
    I'm using the jquery .load() function to pull in data to populate a div with. The content I'm pulling in has CSS selectors that should match up with jQuery click functions I've written. However, when I load in the data, although the correct CSS selectors are there, when I click on areas that should invoke a response from jQuery, nothing happens. Do I need to do some sort of reload? Here's the code I've got for the jQuery AJAX: $(document).ready(function() { // AJAX functionality for drupal nodes $(".ajax_node").click(function() { var ajax_src = $(this).attr("href"); // we're gonna load the href // empty target div and load in content // the space in the string before the #id is necessary $("#ajax_area").empty().load(ajax_src + " #ajax_wrapper"); return false; // stops the link from following through }); // General AJAX fucntionality $(".ajax").click(function() { var ajax_src = $(this).attr("href"); $("#ajax_area").empty().load(ajax_src); return false; }); });

  • Tracing Erlang Functions - Short forms

    - by Roberto Aloi
As you might know, it's now possible to trace Erlang functions by using the short form: dbg:tpl(Module, Function, x). Instead of the usual: dbg:tpl(Module, Function, dbg:fun2ms(fun(_) -> exception_trace() end)). I'm actually wondering if a similar short form is available for return_trace(). Something like: dbg:tpl(Module, Function, r). Instead of: dbg:tpl(Module, Function, dbg:fun2ms(fun(_) -> return_trace() end)). The source code in the dbg module seems to suggest not: new_pattern_table() -> PT = ets:new(dbg_tab, [ordered_set, public]), ets:insert(PT, {x, term_to_binary([{'_',[],[{exception_trace}]}])}), ets:insert(PT, {exception_trace, term_to_binary(x)}), PT. But I might be wrong. Do you know of any?

  • Using the mpz_powm functions from the GMP/MPIR libraries with negative exponents

    - by Mihai Todor
    Please consider the following code: mpz_t x, n, out; mpz_init_set_ui(x, 2UL); mpz_init_set_ui(n, 7UL); mpz_init(out); mpz_invert(out, x, n); gmp_printf ("%Zd\n", out);//prints 4. 2 * 4 (mod 7) = 1. OK mpz_powm_ui(out, x, -1UL, n);//prints 1. 2 * 1 (mod 7) = 2. How come? gmp_printf ("%Zd\n", out); mpz_clear(x); mpz_clear(n); mpz_clear(out); I am unable to understand how the mpz_powm functions handle negative exponents, although, according to the documentation, it is supposed to support them. I would expect that raising a number to -1 modulo n is equivalent to inverting it modulo n. What am I missing here?

  • How to make external Mathematica functions interruptible?

    - by Szabolcs
I had an earlier question about integrating Mathematica with functions written in C++. This is a follow-up question: If the computation takes too long I'd like to be able to abort it using Evaluation Abort Evaluation. Which of the technologies suggested in the answers make it possible to have an interruptible C-based extension function? How can "interruptibility" be implemented on the C side? I need to make my function interruptible in a way which will corrupt neither it, nor the Mathematica kernel (i.e. it should be possible to call the function again from Mathematica after it has been interrupted)

  • Actionscript 2.0 Functions problem and somewhat "global" variable

    - by Joshua
I have two problems. The first problem is with the following functions; when I call the function in (enterFrame), it doesn't work: onClipEvent (load) { function failwhale(levelNum) { _root.gotoAndStop("fail"); failFrom = levelNum; } function guardSightCollision(guardName, guardSightName) { if (_root.guardName.guardSightName.hitTest(_x, _y+radius, true)) { failwhale(1); } if (_root.guardName.guardSightName.hitTest(_x, _y-radius, true)) { failwhale(1); } if (_root.guardName.guardSightName.hitTest(_x-radius, _y, true)) { failwhale(1); } if (_root.guardName.guardSightName.hitTest(_x+radius, _y, true)) { failwhale(1); } } } onClipEvent (enterFrame) { guardSightCollision(guard1, guard1Sight); } Why doesn't it work?... The second problem lies in the failFrom variable: function failwhale(levelNum) { _root.gotoAndStop("fail"); failFrom = levelNum; } How do I make failFrom a "global" variable in that it can be accessed anywhere (from actionscript in frames and even movieclips)...Right now, when I try to trace failFrom in a different frame, it is "undefined".

  • Embedding Python and adding C functions to the interpreter

    - by monoceres
I'm currently writing an applications that embedds the python interpreter. The idea is to have the program call user specified scripts on certain events in the program. I managed this part but now I want the scripts to be able to call functions in my program. Here's my code so far: #include "python.h" static PyObject* myTest(PyObject* self,PyObject *args) { return Py_BuildValue("s","123456789"); } static PyMethodDef myMethods[] = {{"myTest",myTest},{NULL,NULL}}; int main() { Py_Initialize(); Py_InitModule("PROGRAM",myMethods); PyRun_SimpleString("print PROGRAM.myTest()"); Py_Finalize(); } Thanks!

  • Unnamed/anonymous namespaces vs. static functions

    - by Head Geek
A little-used feature of C++ is the ability to create anonymous namespaces, like so: namespace { int cannotAccessOutsideThisFile() { ... } } // namespace You would think that such a feature would be useless -- since you can't specify the name of the namespace, it's impossible to access anything within it from outside. But these unnamed namespaces are accessible within the file they're created in, as if you had an implicit using-clause to them. My question is, why or when would this be preferable to using static functions? Or are they essentially two ways of doing the exact same thing?

  • valgrind - ignore glibc functions?

    - by Jack
Is it possible to tell valgrind to ignore some set of libraries? Specifically glibc libraries.. Actual Problem: I have some code that runs fine in normal execution. No leaks etc. When I try to run it through valgrind, I get core dumps and program restarts/stops. Core usually points to glibc functions (usually fseek, mutex etc). I understand that there might be some issue with incompatible glibc / valgrind version. I tried various valgrind releases and glibc versions but no luck. Any suggestions?

  • ActionScript Accessing Functions/Vars From Outside Of Class

  • jQuery getting these functions to work together

    - by brett
    I'm new to jQuery and have tried looking around for an answer on how to do this. I have 2 functions and I would like both to work together. The one function is submitHandler and its used to hide a form and at the same time add a class to a hidden element to unhide it - ie a thank you for submitting h1. The other function is to grab the input data and display it onsubmit in the form. So the problem is that I can get that one to work but then the other doesnt. Ie on form submit I can see the data input but not the h1 Thank you message. Here are the functions: SubmitHandler: submitHandler: function() { $("#content").empty(); $("#content").append( "<p>If you want to be kept in the loop...</p>" + "<p>Or you can contact...</p>" ); $('h1.success_').removeClass('success_').addClass('success_form'); $('#contactform').hide(); }, onsubmit="return inputdata()" function inputdata(){ var usr = document.getElementById('contactname').value; var eml = document.getElementById('email').value; var msg = document.getElementById('message').value; document.getElementById('out').innerHTML = usr + " " + eml + msg; document.getElementById('out').style.display = "block"; return true; }, The form uses PHP and jQuery - I dont know about AJAX but after some reading even less sure. Please help me out I dont know what I'm doing and at the moment I am learning but its a long road for me still. Thank you The form: <form method="post" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" id="contactform" onsubmit="return inputdata()"> <div class="_required"><p class="label_left">Name*</p><input type="text" size="50" name="contactname" id="contactname" value="" class="required" /></div><br/><br/> <div class="_required"><p class="label_left">E-mail address*</p><input type="text" size="50" name="email" id="email" value="" class="required email" /></div><br/><br/> <p class="label_left">Message</p><textarea rows="5" cols="50" name="message" id="message" class="required"></textarea><br/> <input type="submit" value="submit" name="submit" id="submit" /> </form> The PHP bit: <?php $subject = "Website Contact Form Enquiry"; //If the form is submitted if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { //Check to make sure that the name field is not empty if(trim($_POST['contactname']) == '') { $hasError = true; } else { $name = trim($_POST['contactname']); } //Check to make sure sure that a valid email address is submitted if(trim($_POST['email']) == '') { $hasError = true; } else if (!eregi("^[A-Z0-9._%-]+@[A-Z0-9._%-]+\.[A-Z]{2,4}$", trim($_POST['email']))) { $hasError = true; } else { $email = trim($_POST['email']); } //Check to make sure comments were entered if(trim($_POST['message']) == '') { $hasError = true; } else { if(function_exists('stripslashes')) { $comments = stripslashes(trim($_POST['message'])); } else { $comments = trim($_POST['message']); } } //If there is no error, send the email if(!isset($hasError)) { $emailTo = '[email protected]'; //Put your own email address here $body = "Name: $name \n\nEmail: $email \n\nComments:\n $comments"; $headers = 'From: My Site <'.$emailTo.'>' .   • List of functions references

    - by Ockonal
Hello, I'm using boost::function for making references to the functions. Can I make a list of references? For example: boost::function<bool (Entity &handle)> behaviorRef; And I need in a list of such pointers. For example: std::vector<behaviorRef> listPointers; Of course it's wrong code due to behaviorRef isn't a type. So the question is: how can I store a list of pointers for the function?

  • C++ Constructor Initializer List - using member functions of initialized members

    - by Andy
I've run into the following a few times with initializer lists and I've never been able to explain it well. Can anyone explain why exactly the following fails (I don't have a compiler to catch typos, so bear with me): class Foo { public: Foo( int i ) : m_i( i ) {} //works with no problem int getInt() {return m_i;} ~Foo {} private: int m_i; }; class Bar { public: Bar() : m_foo( 5 ), //this is ok m_myInt( m_foo.getInt() ) //runtime error, seg 11 {} ~Bar() {} private: Foo m_foo; int m_myInt; }; When trying to call member functions of members initialized higher up the initializer list, I get seg faults. I seem to recall this is a known problem (or perhaps somehow by design) but I've never seen it well described. The attached example is contrived with plain old data types, but substitute the Bar::m_myInt with another object lacking a default (empty) constructor and the issue is more real. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks!

  • Java, how to trace functions called

    - by user435657
Hi all, I want to trace the beginning [& ending] of functions called in Java, like the following code: public void foo() { System.out.println("begin of foo()"); ... System.out.println("e-n-d of foo()"); } But maintaining of the dump code System.out.println is something tedious and error-prone, for there may be tens of thounds of function in an class. Any good idea can ease this work? I don't want dump statements all over the file. Implementation of both or one of the beginning & ending traces is perferd. But, if impossible, recordings of that the function has been called is also helpful. I mean not care the exact beginnig and ending, just tell that the function has been called.

  • js function causing all other functions not to work inside js file

    - by Camran
In safari 4 and all explorer browsers, whenever I try to call a function inside a javascript file which contains this function below, that first function isn't called. So calling function1 will not work if function2 is inside the same .js file, explanation? Here is the code which makes the problem. Whenever I remove this function, everything works fine and all functions work fine. So this function is causing a problem. function addOption(selectbox, value, text, class, id_nr ) { var optn = document.createElement("OPTION"); optn.text = text; optn.value = value; optn.id = value; if (class==1){ optn.className = "nav_option_main"; } selectbox.options.add(optn); } Any ideas why? Thanks

  • Calling some functions before main in C

    - by minjang
I'd like to do some stuffs before main function. I have multiple source files. In each file, there is some work that needs to be done before main. It was no problem in C++, but problematic with C. In C++, this can be done by two ways: Exploiting a constructor of a global class/struct. Calling a function to a global variable For example, static const int __register_dummy_ = __AddRegisterMetaInfo(...); However, in C, either ways is impossible. Obviously, there is no constructor. So, the first option is inherently impossible. I thought that the second option would be possible, but not compiled in C (I tested only with Visual C++. It gives C2099.). C only allows a constant to a non-automatic variable. Is there any way to call some functions before main?

  • How does jQuery have asynchronous functions?

    - by Sam.Rueby
I'm surprised I can't find a clear answer to this. So, in jQuery, you can do this: $(someElements).fadeOut(1000); $(someElements).remove(); Which, will start a fadeOut animation, but before it finishes executing in the 1 second duration, the elements are removed from the DOM. But how is this possible? I keep reading the JavaScript is single threaded. ( Is javascript guaranteed to be single-threaded? ) This question is not "How do I fix this?" I know I can do either: $(someElements).fadeOut(1000).promise().done(function() { $(someElements).remove();});, or even better:$(someElements).fadeOut(1000, function() { $(this).remove(); } ); What I don't understand is how JavaScript runs in a "single thread" but I'm able to use these jQuery functions that execute asynchronously and visibly see the DOM change in different places at the same time. How does it work?

I need to use: server.framework.busy?() This leads to an error: SyntaxError: invalid syntax How can I call this function? Or am I reading the ruby code wrong and implementing it wrongly.

  • Recursive Functions for Beginners?

    - by cam
I'm looking for a few recursive function examples, preferably ones that show increase in complexity. I understand basic recursive functions, but I'm having trouble implementing them in my code. I've never used them in my code before, and I know it doesn't always call for it, but I'd like to try. Is there a good resource with examples, and maybe challenges of some sort? Or even some simple math problems (Project Euler-style?) that I could use recursion on? For examples, I prefer C#, but anything works.

  • Diff applications going crazy if the functions in the file were reordered

I've been busy refactoring a file in our project and as part of my changes I reordered the function to a more logical way. However, now when I'm trying to review my changes I get a mess: The diff applications has no idea that the functions were merely reordered and marks 80% of the file content as changed. I've tried to see the diff with both "Beyond Compare" and "WinMerge" to the same result. Is there some setting that might help me here? As tagged, I am using C# on Windows.
