  • JavaScript Node.replaceChild() doesn't count new child's innerHtml

    - by manuna
    While creating a Firefox addon, I've run into a weird problem. I have an array of nodes, returned by some iterator. Iterator returns only nodes, containing Node.TEXT_NODE as one or more of it's children. The script runs on page load. I have to find some text in that nodes by regexp and surround it with a SPAN tag. //beginning skipped var node = nodeList[i]; var node_html = node.innerHTML; var node_content = node.textContent; if(node_content.length > 1){ var new_str = "<SPAN class='bar'>" + foo + "</SPAN>"; var regexp = new RegExp( foo , 'g' ); node_html = node_html.replace(regexp, new_str); node.innerHTML = node_html; } Basic version looked like this, and it worked except one issue - node.innerHTML could contain attributes, event handlers, that could also contain foo, that should not be surrounded with <span> tags. So I decided to make replacements in text nodes only. But text nodes can't contain a HTML tag, so I had to wrap them with <div>. Like this: var node = nodeList[i]; for(var j=0; j<node.childNodes.length; j++){ var child = node.childNodes[j]; var child_content = child.textContent; if(child.nodeType == Node.TEXT_NODE && child_content.length >1){ var newChild = document.createElement('div'); // var newTextNode = document.createTextNode(child_content); // newChild.appendChild(newTextNode); var new_html = child_content; var new_str = "<SPAN class='bar'>" + foo + "</SPAN>"; var regexp = new RegExp( foo , 'g' ); new_html = new_html.replace(regexp, new_str); newChild.innerHTML = new_html; alert(newChild.innerHTML); node.replaceChild(newChild, child); } } In this case, alert(newChild.innerHTML); shows right html. But after the page is rendered, all <div>s created are empty! I'm puzzled. If I uncomment this code: // var newTextNode = document.createTextNode(child_content); // newChild.appendChild(newTextNode); alert also shows things right, and <div>s are filled with text (textNode adding works ok) , but again without <span>s. And another funny thing is that I can't highlight that new <div>s' content with a mouse in browser. Looks like it doesn't take new innerHTML into account, and I can't understand why. Do I do something wrong? (I certainly do, but what? Or, is that a FF bug/feature?)

  • jquery javascript error using $(...) selector

    - by waitinforatrain
    Hi, I'm migrating some old code to jquery: xmlHttp.onreadystatechange = function() { if (xmlHttp.readyState == 4) { $("#" + ajaxArea).html (xmlHttp.responseText); $("#" + ajaxArea).attr('title', 'Login'); $("#" + ajaxArea).dialog({ height : 140, modal : true }); } }; where ajaxArea is the ID of a DIV in the HTML. The dialog bit is basically adapted from the jQuery example here: http://jqueryui.com/demos/dialog/#modal All of it works fine up until the last line. Firefox throws an error that simply says "$(" for that line. Anyone know what might be causing this?

  • Jquery persistent css selector equivalent to '.live()'

    - by Dan
    So today I just came across the 'live()' function that binds any future and past elements to the whatever event you choose, such as 'onclick'. Right now I'm having to set up buttons like the following each time I load a new button via ajax ... $('a.btn.plus').button({icons:{primary:'ui-icon-plusthick'}}); $('a.btn.pencil').button({icons:{primary:'ui-icon ui-icon-pencil'}}); $('a.btn.bigx').button({icons:{primary:'ui-icon ui-icon-closethick'}}); So, instead of calling these lines each time I use ajax to add a new button, is there a similar way to tell JQuery to setup my buttons ANYTIME I add new ones? Thanks for any help!

  • CSS Error when using jQuery's gt() selector?

    - by kimka
    I've noticed that Firefox throws me a warning on the following jQuery code: $("li.example div.code:gt(4)").hide(); CSS Error: Unknown pseudo-class or pseudo-element 'gt'. According to jQuery, it all should be correct. And it works, but I wonder how to fix this error for cleanness sake.

  • unrecognized selector sent to instance while trying to add an object to a mutable array

    - by madpoet
    I'm following the "Your Second iOS App" and I decided to play with the code to understand Objective C well... What I'm trying to do is simply adding an object to a mutable array in a class. Here are the classes: BirdSighting.h #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface BirdSighting : NSObject @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *name; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *location; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSDate *date; -(id) initWithName: (NSString *) name location:(NSString *) location date:(NSDate *) date; @end BirdSighting.m #import "BirdSighting.h" @implementation BirdSighting -(id) initWithName:(NSString *)name location:(NSString *)location date:(NSDate *)date { self = [super init]; if(self) { _name = name; _location = location; _date = date; return self; } return nil; } @end BirdSightingDataController.h #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @class BirdSighting; @interface BirdSightingDataController : NSObject @property (nonatomic, copy) NSMutableArray *masterBirdSightingList; - (NSUInteger) countOfList; - (BirdSighting *) objectInListAtIndex: (NSUInteger) theIndex; - (void) addBirdSightingWithSighting: (BirdSighting *) sighting; @end BirdSightingDataController.m #import "BirdSightingDataController.h" @implementation BirdSightingDataController - (id) init { if(self = [super init]) { NSMutableArray *sightingList = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; self.masterBirdSightingList = sightingList; return self; } return nil; } -(NSUInteger) countOfList { return [self.masterBirdSightingList count]; } - (BirdSighting *) objectInListAtIndex: (NSUInteger) theIndex { return [self.masterBirdSightingList objectAtIndex:theIndex]; } - (void) addBirdSightingWithSighting: (BirdSighting *) sighting { [self.masterBirdSightingList addObject:sighting]; } @end And this is where I'm trying to add a BirdSighting instance to the mutable array: #import "BirdsMasterViewController.h" #import "BirdsDetailViewController.h" #import "BirdSightingDataController.h" #import "BirdSighting.h" @implementation BirdsMasterViewController - (void)awakeFromNib { [super awakeFromNib]; BirdSightingDataController *dataController = [[BirdSightingDataController alloc] init]; NSDate *date = [NSDate date]; BirdSighting *sighting = [[[BirdSighting alloc] init] initWithName:@"Ebabil" location:@"Ankara" date: date]; [dataController addBirdSightingWithSighting: sighting]; NSLog(@"dataController: %@", dataController.masterBirdSightingList); self.dataController = dataController; } .......... @end It throws NSInvalidArgumentException in BirdSightingDataController addBirdSightingWithSighting method... What am I doing wrong?

  • class selector refuses after append to body

    - by supersize
    I'm appending loads of divs in a wrapper: var cubes = [], allCubes = '', for(var i = 0; i < 380; i++) { var randomleft = Math.floor(Math.random()*Math.floor(Math.random()*1000)), randomtop = Math.floor(Math.random()*Math.floor(Math.random()*1000)); allCubes += '<div id="cube'+i+'" class="cube" style="position: absolute; border: 2px #000 solid; left: '+randomleft+'px; top: '+randomtop+'px; width: 9px; height: 9px; z-index: -1"></div>'; } $('#wrapper').append(allCubes); // performance for(var i = 0; i < 380; i++) { cubes.push($('#cube'+i)); } and then I would like to make them all draggable with jQueryUI and log their current position. var allc = $('.cube'); allc.draggable().on('mouseup', function(i) { allc.each(function() { var nleft = $(this).offset().left; var ntop = $(this).offset().top; console.log('cubes['+i+'].animate({ left:'+nleft+',top:'+ntop+'})'); }); }); Unfortunenately it does not work. They are neither draggable nor there comes up a log. Thanks

  • ASP.NET Template Selector/Builder - Dynamic CMS

    - by Ugene
    I am currently building my own CMS for various reasons that could take a long to explain... However i am looking for a dynamic solution to create templates for pages within the CMS and all areas must be editable via the administration area, maybe large text areas broken into multiple areas, text and image area on a page etc. Following on from the above i would like to create the following: Create a new page (selecting a pre-defined template like below) http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/9872/nestedpages.png and then upon editing the page it would have created as many text editors required for each editable region or a file upload control for an image area for example. i am thinking of using nested masterpages for the design elements, just unsure the best-practice way to achieve the above (db structure etc) I somehow hope this provides enough information but are happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks

  • jQuery class selector and click()

    - by Anonymous
    I'm currently trying to get an alert to happen when something is clicked. I can get it working in jsFiddle, but not in production code: jsFiddle example that works (jQuery 1.5 loaded) HTML (in case jsFiddle is inaccessible): <!DOCTYPE HTML><html><head><title>Test</title></head> <body> <h1>25 Feb 2011</h1><h3>ABC</h3><ul> <li class="todoitem">Test&mdash;5 minutes</li> </ul> </body></html> Javascript: $(".todoitem").click(function() { alert('Item selected'); }); Non-working production example: <!DOCTYPE HTML><html><head><title>Test</title> <script src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jQuery/jquery-1.5.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(".todoitem").click(function() { alert('Item selected'); }); </script> </head> <body> <h1>25 Feb 2011</h1><h3>ABC</h3><ul><li class="todoitem">Test&mdash;5 minutes</li></ul> </body> </html> Safari's Inspector indicate that jQuery is being loaded correctly, so that's not the issue. As far as I can tell, these two pieces of code are essentially identical, but the latter isn't working. Can anyone see what I've done wrong?

  • focusout not triggering when clicking on another selector with a click

    - by Sean
    I have 2 divs that each have clicks bound to them. when you click on a div a form is displayed (in another div) that allows you to set properties specific to the div that is clicked. I'm using focusout to save the properties to a data object. everything is working perfectly except when i click on the other div. it seems that the click handler on the other div cancels out the focusout of the form field. Has anyone else experienced this? is so what is the proper way to overcome this?

  • jQuery .val() Selector Confusion

    - by Matt Dawdy
    I've kind of written myself into a corner, and was hoping there was an "easy" way out. I'm trying to loop through a series of things on my page, and build a key:value pair. Here is my structure: <div class="divMapTab" id="divMapTab34"> <div class="divFieldMap"> <select class="selSrc" id="selTargetnamex"><options....></select> </div> </div> <div class="divMapTab" id="divMapTab87"> <div class="divFieldMap"> <select class="selSrc" id="selTargetnamex"><options....></select> </div> </div> It's way more complicated than that, and there are many select elements inside of each divFieldMap div. Here is my JS function that is building my string: function Save() { var sSaveString = ''; $('.divMapTab').each(function() { var thisId = this.id; $('.selSrc', "#" + thisId).each(function() { var thisSubId = this.id; //alert(thisSubId); <-- HERE IS THE PROBLEM var sTargetCol = thisSubId.replace('selTarget', ''); var sValue = this.val(); sSaveString += sTargetCol + '¸' + sValue + '·'; }); }); } On the line that has the alert box and the text "HERE IS THE PROBLEM" is that I'm trying to get the selected value of the "current" select input element, but the id of that element isn't unique (I thought it would be, but I screwed up). Is there a good way, inside of an "each" type of jQuery statement, to use "this" to get the exact select element that I really am looking for, even if it doesn't have a unique id?

  • Creating a page selector with JSP/JSTL

    - by zakSyed
    I am working on a project where I am required to build a page somewhat similar to the one you see when you visit a website like blockbuster. When you click on browse more you are taken to a page with a bar on top with different page numbers and a drop down to select the number of pages you want to view on that page. I want to include a feature like that on my page but I am not sure where to start. In my page I have list of 200 items which I want to display page by page. I was suggested to use custom tags, but is there a more simpler or efficient way to create that functionality. My web application uses Spring MVC framework and is coded entirely in Java. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

  • Handling a colon in an element ID in a CSS selector

    - by sblundy
    JSF is setting the ID of an input field to search_form:expression. I need to specify some styling on that element, but that colon looks like the beginning of a pseudo-element to the browser so it gets marked invalid and ignored. Is there anyway to escape the colon or something? input#search_form:expression { ///... }

  • jQuery filter selector, is this right?

    - by fire
    It seems to work ok but I don't know if this can be impoved on or not. I want to select any HTML tag that has a class of edit-text-NUM or edit-html-NUM and change the color of it. Here is what I am using... jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('*') .filter(function() { return this.className.match(/edit-(text|html)-\d/); }) .css({ 'color': '#ff0000' }); }); Does that look ok and is the regex ok? *edit: Also is this efficient? I am aware that using jQuery('*') might be a bit of a hog if it's a large page. It only has to work from <body> down so maybe it could be changed?
