    I was wondering, is it possible to make my own customized version of Linux based on Ubuntu 10.10 ? I am thinking of calling it something different but I was wondering besides making a custom Live CD I am talking about an Linux that people can install on there computers using Ubuntu installation method.     I'm looking into the best way to deploy a customized Ubuntu image and it looks like I have two options: To make an "OEM install" version To make a custom Ubuntu image Could someone help me understand the difference between these two methods of customizing a Ubuntu install? It appears to me that both these methods allow for elaborate customization of the image while allowing the user to enter their own end-user details (time zone, username, password, etc.)

  • Google Chrome (not chromium) is crashing XFCE on startup. Where can I find some detailed logs of the issue?

    I'm using xubuntu 12.10 and every time I open Chrome, the desktop enviro crashes then automatically restarts, prompting me to log in again. This is the latest x86 .deb downloaded from Chrome's website. I've tried both installing the .deb using the software package manager and using sudo dpkg -i, same issue for both, except that the package manager puts out an alert that says "This package is of bad quality", but doing a quick google search reveals that particular message is a bug in Chrome and it's safe to ignore.

    I'm using Windows 7 64 bits and I'm trying to install Google Chrome. However, every time I do, I get this error message: Google Update installation failed with error 0x80004002. There is a Show me help for this issue link, but it does nothing. I tried the standalone installer to no avail. I also tried to delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google registry key, as suggested by other answers, with no more positive effects.

  • Disable Google Chrome warning if security certificate is not trusted

    Hi, I want to know if it's possible to disable the warning you get in Chrome when you try to go to some HTTPS site that doesn't have a trusted certificate. I have a few sites in my bookmarks that use HTTPS but none of them have trusted certificates, so each time I visit them I manually have to click "Proceed anyway" in the warning and it's getting kind of annoying. Is there any way to disable the warning or somehow add these sites to some kind of safe list? Thanks

    Is there an extension or add-on like Stylish which lets you easily toggle back and forth between affected (Stylish) and standard (or untainted) view? I've tried changing colors in Firefox (Settings Content Colors) but there is no quick toggle between the states. Firefox or Google Chrome, whichever one has the extension. Doesn't matter since I'll switch to using that as my primary development browser.

    I accidentally make Pidgin the default app for Yahoo Messenger URI scheme (ymsgr://) in Google Chrome. Now, whenever I click on a Yahoo Messenger URI scheme, instead of appearing a popup chat box, nothing happens. How can I change the default app to associate with this URI scheme back to Yahoo Messenger? I found a similar problem here. But I am using Windows 7, not Ubuntu, so the solution cannot be applied in my situation.

    I was stupid enough to compile sqlite3 from source and install it to /usr, overriding default library. This being done, Google Chrome doesn't launch anymore, crashing with this output: Dyld Error Message: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libsqlite3.dylib Referenced from: /System/Library/Frameworks/Security.framework/Versions/A/Security Reason: no suitable image found. Did find: /usr/lib/libsqlite3.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture /usr/local/lib/libsqlite3.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture /usr/lib/libsqlite3.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture Can I somehow revert sqlite3 to the original version I had, or fix the issue somehow else?

    Hi, I'm using Snow Leopard and I've just downloaded Google Chrome for Mac. However it doesn't load any page: This webpage is not available. Error 104 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED): The attempt to connect to the server failed. I've googled about it but I had no luck, only answers for Windows. Needless to say I have no firewalls and every other browser or application can connect to the internet.

    I like to have the extensions like Gmail Checker and Google Voice checker closest to my eyes, therefore closer to the url bar. I have tried disabling and enabling extensions to order them correctly, but once I close chrome, they appear in a different order (always the same undesirable "different" order). Is there a way to prevent them from rearranging themselves? Thanks

    I've recently installed the latest version of Chrome for Linux on my Ubuntu 9.10 installation. The only problem is is that it stays in Full Screen mode no matter what I do. I pressed F11 but it does not want to return to normal mode. I even completely uninstalled it using synaptic package manager en re-downloaded it and still nothing. Any suggestions will be welcome.

    I notice that the text on some web pages look bad when viewed in Chrome (16.0.912.77 m) while OK with Firefox (10.0). FWIW, I'm using the Windows versions of those applications, with default settings. As an (ironic) example, www.google.com/webfonts.     On some websites, I receive garbage text instead of web page itself. I have noticed that this only happens for pages that are served with Content-Encoding set to GZIP or chunked headers, see the image please: I am using latest version 22.0.1229.94 of Chrome with Windows 7 Ultimaate. The encoding of browser is set to UTF-8. (I also tried changing encoding to Western, etc but same result) Can anyone suggest a solution to this? Thanks

    Suddenly Chrome browser does not start, my Windows 7 x64 is complaining: The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you’re running. Check your computer’s system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher. Reinstalling did not help. The things that changed and I have noticed are system updates and Java update. Any ideas, what to do to resolve the issue or troubleshoot it?
