  • replaceWith Automatically Closes the Tag

    - by Warrantica
I have 3 divs and I want to replace the first div with an opening tag of another div and the third with the closing tag. This is what I meant: <div>1</div> <div>2</div> <div>3</div> When I tried to replace (using replaceWith()) the first div with <div class="foo"> and the third with </div>, jQuery somewhat misinterpret it as: <div class="foo"></div> <div>2</div> </div> While what I actually want is: <div class="foo"> <div>2</div> </div> Thank you in advance,

  • Rails: How to name and create unique divs within a loop?

    - by sscirrus
I have a view with a div that is looped many times. Each of the created divs need to have a unique ID so I can access them specifically (at the moment, all my divs have the same ID specified in html so whenever I try to access a specific div it just finds the first one). This is the version that I currently have (multiple 'rowBox'es are not discernible). <% @customers.each do |customer| %> <div id="customer" class="rowBox"> ... </div> <% end %> I would like to be able to do something like: <% @customers.each do |customer| %> <div id="box<%=customer.id%>"> ... </div> <% end %> This doesn't seem to work. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

  • Modifying a HTML page to fix several "bugs" add a function to next/previous on a option dropdown

    - by Dennis Sylvian
SOF, I've got a few problems plaguing me at the moment and am wondering if anyone could assist me with them. I'm trying to get Next Class | Previous Class to act as buttons so that when Next Class is clicked it will go to the next item in the dropdown list and for previous it would go to back one. There used to be a scroll bar that allowed me to scroll the main window left and right, it's missing because (I think it was to do with the scroll left and scroll right function) The footer at the bottom doesn't show correctly on mobile devices; for some reason it appears completely differently to as it does on a computer. The "bar" practically and the Scroll Left and Scroll buttons don't appear at all on mobile devices. The scroll left button is unable to be clicked for some reason, I'm unsure what I've done wrong. Refreshing the page resets the horizontal scroll position to far left (I'm pretty sure this relates to the scroll bar) I want to also find a way so that on mobile devices the the header will not show the placeholder image, however I can't work out what CSS media tag(s) I should be using. • Wordpress Template HTML CSS Layout Confusion

    - by Jess McKenzie
    I am having huge confusion with a template that I have purchased and I am trying to modify to handle a widget contact form. I am getting close with this but I have now muddled up the CSS or I have a feeling every page has a different CSS structure. The General Layout: What I Manage To Get: HTML View Source: <div id="innerright"> <div id="home" class="page"> <div id="homeslides"> <div class="welcomeslide"> <h1 class="large">Welcome</h1> </div> </div><!-- end home slides --> </div><!-- end page --> <div id="portfolio" class="page"> <div class="verticalline"> <div class="scrollprevnext"></div> </div> <div class="pageheader"> <h3><span>P</span>ortfolio</h3> </div><!--end pageheader --> <div id="portfolioscroller" class="scrollerenabledpage"> <div class="content"> <h5>Recent Work</h5> <ul class="thumb"> <li><a rel="precision_gallery" href="" title=""><img alt="" src="" /></a></li> </ul> </div> </div><!--end v scroll inner--> </div><!-- end page --> <div id="contact" class="page"> <div class="verticalline"> <div class="scrollprevnext"></div> </div> <div class="pageheader"> <h3><span>C</span>ontact</h3> </div><!--end pageheader --> <div id="contactscroller"> <h5>Get In Touch</h5> <div id="contactform">content</div> </div><!--end v scroll inner--> </div><!-- end page --> </div><!--end innerright--> CSS: CSS index.php: <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <title><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/style.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/fancybox/jquery.fancybox-1.3.4.css" media="screen" /> <?php // jquery will be included by wp_head function as well as scripts and styles by third party plugins wp_head(); ?> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/js/plugins.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/js/script.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/fancybox/jquery.fancybox-1.3.4.pack.js"></script> <?php // background image if one has been set via options if (function_exists('get_option_tree')) { $background_image = get_option_tree('precision_background_image'); //$background_image = ''; $background_color = get_option_tree('precision_background_color'); if ($background_color != '') { echo '<style>body { background-color:'.$background_color.'; }</style>'; } } ?> <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function($) { $('.page').each(function(index, element) { $(this).css('left', index * 500); }); <?php // if background is set via the OptionTree then load it first if ($background_image != '') { ?> $.vegas({ src:'<?php echo $background_image; ?>', fade:1000, complete:function() { $("#wrapper").fadeIn(1000); $("#bgpanel").fadeIn(1000); $('#mainslide').crossSlide( { speed: 15, fade: 1 }, [ <?php echo $slides; ?> ] ) $('#homeslides').bxSlider({ mode: 'fade', auto: true, controls:false, speed:1000, pause:5000 }); } }); <?php } else { // if no background has been set then fade-in the page ?> $("#wrapper").fadeIn(1000); $("#bgpanel").fadeIn(1000); $('#mainslide').crossSlide( { speed: 15, fade: 1 }, [ //ENTER YOUR MAIN SLIDESHOW IMAGES HERE\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ <?php echo $slides; ?> ] ) $('#homeslides').bxSlider({ mode: 'fade', auto: true, controls:false, speed:1000, pause:5000 }); <?php } ?> //BX SLIDER INNER PAGE SCROLLERS//////////////////////// $('.scrollerenabledpage').each(function(index, element) { $('#' + $(this).attr('id')).bxSlider({ mode: 'vertical', easing: 'easeInOutQuint', auto: false, controls: true, prevImage:'<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/images/up.png', nextImage:'<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/images/down.png', infiniteLoop: false, hideControlOnEnd: true, pager: true, pagerType:'short', pagerShortSeparator:'of', speed:800, }); }); //END BX SLIDER INNER PAGE SCROLLERS///////////////// $('#submit').click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); $('form').submit(); }); // contact form $('form').submit(function(e) { $('#main').append('<img src="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/images/loader.gif" class="loaderIcon" alt="Loading..." />'); $.post("<?php bloginfo('wpurl'); ?>/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php", {action:'precision_contact_form_handler', uname:$('input#uname').val(), uemail:$('input#uemail').val(), ucomments:$('textarea#ucomments').val()}, function(data) { $('#main img.loaderIcon').fadeOut(1000); if (data.status == "success") { $('#response').html("Forum has been successfully submitted."); } else { if (data.response != '') { $('#response').html(data.response); } else { $('#response').html("An error occurred while submitting the form.   • How can I ceil the height of a div that has "display: table-cell"?

    - by eric01
I am trying to vertically center a div inside another div, regardless of the size of both div's I am doing this: <div id='outer_div'> <div id='inner_div'></div> </div> The CSS is #outer_div { display: table-row; height: 200px; width: 200px } #inner_div { display: table-cell; vertical-align: middle; height: 500px; width: 500px } I put larger dimensions for the inner div on purpose. What happens is that even if I put a width of 1000px, the width of the innerdiv is ceiled at 200px because of the outer div's width (and this is what I want) But for the height, it is not ceiled and I would like it to be ceiled to the height of the outer div. What i want is the innerdiv to remain at the same size as the outer_div, no matter what height I give to outer_div in CSS. I basically want it to be the same size as its parent. EDIT: I only put text inside those div's. So let's say I have an outer div of 200px*200px (it has display: table-row), and the inner div is defined by css as 500px*500px and it has dummy text inside. My expected result is to have the inner div shrunk down to 200px*200px. It is successfully 'shrunk' by the outer div for the width, but NOT for the height. What I want is to have it shrunk on the height as well (so the inner div ajusts automatically in case I change the height of the outer div) How do I go about that?

  • How to access child div elements under a given condition with javascript?

    - by hlovdal
My main question is to calculate the last alert message, but any other information is also welcome. I am trying to learn javascript (to use with greasemonkey later), but I am struggling a bit to grasp the DOM and how to process it. <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function my_test() { var elements = document.getElementsByTagName("div"); // prints "found [object HTMLCollection] with length 8" alert("found " + elements + " with length " + elements.length); // prints "0:[object HTMLDivElement]" alert("0:" + elements[0]); // how to calculate the following? alert("for intereting one is AAAA and three is CCCC"); } </script> </head> <body> <div class="interesing"> <div class="one">AAAA</div> <div class="two">BBBB</div> <div class="three">CCCC</div> </div> <div class="boring"> <div class="one">1111</div> <div class="two">2222</div> <div class="three">3333</div> </div> <input type="button" onclick="my_test()" value="my test" </body> </html> So elements is now an array of elements and I can access each of them individually. But where can I find what methods/properties these elements have?

  • need to align part of list item to right of li - using CSS3 Jquery column-layout

    - by Brad
    Using this jquery script to acheive CSS3 3-columns, to display a list of members alphabetically. I need it to display this way, which is does: A D B E C F Here is what I am using http://www.csscripting.com/css-multi-column/example6.php? (using this js file http://www.csscripting.com/js/v1.0beta/css3-multi-column.js) To the right of each member, it has their phone extension, which I want to float to the right, so it easy to read. I tried putting the phone extension within a div and span and when I do that, it tends to screw up at the last item in each column, by placing the person's name correctly, but their extension is the very first item in the next column. Screenshot: http://cl.ly/fq4 of what it is doing HTML Code: <div class="Article3Col"> <ul> <li>Doe, John <div style="float:right;"> 8317 </div> </li> <li>Doe, Sally <div style="float:right;"> 8729 </div> </li> <li>Doe, John <div style="float:right;"> 8317 </div> </li> <li>Doe, Sally <div style="float:right;"> 8729 </div> </li> <li>Doe, John <div style="float:right;"> 8317 </div> </li> <li>Doe, Sally <div style="float:right;"> 8729 </div> </li> <li>Doe, John <div style="float:right;"> 8317 </div> </li> <li>Doe, Sally <div style="float:right;"> 8729 </div> </li> <li>Doe, John <div style="float:right;"> 8317 </div> </li> <li>Doe, Sally <div style="float:right;"> 8729 </div> </li> <li>Doe, John <div style="float:right;"> 8317 </div> </li> <li>Doe, Sally <div style="float:right;"> 8729 </div> </li> <li>Doe, John <div style="float:right;"> 8317 </div> </li> <li>Doe, Sally <div style="float:right;"> 8729 </div> </li> <li>Doe, John <div style="float:right;"> 8317 </div> </li> <li>Doe, Sally <div style="float:right;"> 8729 </div> </li> <li>Doe, John <div style="float:right;"> 8317 </div> </li> <li>Doe, Sally <div style="float:right;"> 8729 </div> </li> </ul> </div> CSS: .Article3Col { column-count:3; } Any help is appreciated.

  • Add to extra div to the side of the content

    - by Kreker
Hi. I've read some post for adding extra divs to the both sides of the main content and act like a sidebars. But I want to add 2 extra div for adding some graphics and the right will be to the right of the actual sidebar. I took a screenshot for explain my self better. I've added to extra div before the pagewrap and working with css I locate the divs to left and to the right but there is a problem, if some has a resolution smaller then me the divs start moving messing up the loyout. I want that they stay near the content and the sidebar for all the resolution. I've tryed working with css with position and % but with no results. Ok so, the cyan rectangle would be the extra divs, and the gray graphics the contents of these. I don't care if the users has smaller resolutions, the graphics can go out the screen, but the "roots" must be fixed to the side of the main content ;) Hope I explained well. This is the screenshot http://cl.ly/0D2H1s0t3Y0p2A412L35/Schermata-2011-01-11-a-22.22.17.png Thanks for help

  • jqtransform and collapsed DIV

    - by Marco
Hello, I am using a jQuery plugin called: jqtransform This plugin uses JavaScript to apply CSS styles to form elements. The problem that I have consists in the following scenario: I’m building a search page, with a advanced search option. When the page loads, the div called “advancedSearch” is hidden, and it will only show if the user clicks a element. Inside the div#advancedSearch I have several form elements. However, if I hide the div#advancedSearch with the CSS style: “diplay:none;”, the jqtransform plugin doesn’t work correctly with the elements that are hidden. So my solution was to hide the div#advancedsearch with JavaScript. This actually works, and it does not matter if it’s done after the document is ready or not. But… with the JavaScript solution, the div#advancedSearch stays visible for a couple of milliseconds… which is visually annoying. So I was wondering if the solution to this problem would be in the CSS, or in correcting the jqtransform plugin, or even in finding a way to immediately hide the div#advancedSearch with JS making it immediately hidden. UPDATE 1 After jeerose comment I decided to place here my function (please note that the <%= % are ASP.Net tags, that I use to get the images path) $('.toggleAdvancedSearch').click(function() { $('#advancedSearchWrap').slideToggle(250); $('form.jqtransform').jqTransform({ imgPath: '<%= ResolveClientUrl("~/masterpages/img/jqtransform/") %>' }); return false; }); UPDATE 2 To test the problem, I did the following: Added another element to the page, with the ID “applyStyle”, and onClick I call the $('form').jqTransform(); Disabled the the $('form').jqTransform(); from the load of the page. If I press the a#applyStyle, before expanding the div#advancedSearch I get the same problem that I had. But if I expand the the div#advancedSearch and press the the a#applyStyle after, the problem is solved. However, if I run the page with the $('form').jqTransform(); function on the load, I cannot reapply it after with the pressing of the a#applyStyle. I think that the solution could be: disabling the all the elements that are inside the div#advancedSearch, and on the same function that expands the div, make It also apply the styles to the elements that are inside the div#advancedSearch. However, I don’t know how to do this (nether if this will work). PS: This seems to be a known issue with the plugin, but I cannot wait indefinitely for a solution.

  • Make Div overlay ENTIRE page (not just viewport)??

    - by Polaris878
    Hello, So I have a problem that I think is quite common but I have yet to find a good solution for. I want to make an overlay div cover the ENTIRE page... NOT just the viewport. I don't understand why this is so hard to do... I've tried setting body, html heights to 100% etc but that isn't working. Here is what I have so far: <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> .OverLay { position: absolute; z-index: 3; opacity: 0.5; filter: alpha(opacity = 50); top: 0; bottom: 0; left: 0; right: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; background-color: Black; color: White;} body { height: 100%; } html { height: 100%; } </style> </head> <body> <div style="height: 100%; width: 100%; position: relative;"> <div style="height: 100px; width: 300px; background-color: Red;"> </div> <div style="height: 230px; width: 9000px; background-color: Green;"> </div> <div style="height: 900px; width: 200px; background-color: Blue;"></div> <div class="OverLay">TestTest!</div> </div> </body> </html> I'd also be open to a solution in JavaScript if one exists, but I'd much rather just be using some simple CSS.

  • Correct table layout generation with CSS: unexpected cells shift

    - by MrG
    I'm trying to generate a dynamic table using CSS: <html> <head> <style> div.el1, div.el2 { color:white; width:70px;height:70px; border:0px; padding:0px; font-size: 10px; font-family: "Courier"; } div.el1 { background-color: green; } div.el2 { background-color: orange; } div.tablediv { display: table; border:0px; border-spacing:0px; border-collapse:separate; } div.celldiv { display: table-cell; } div.rowdiv { display: table-row; width:auto; } </style> </head> <body> <div class="tablediv"> <div class="rowdiv"> <div class="celldiv"> <div class="el1" id="x1y1">ABC</div> </div> <div class="celldiv"> <div class="el2" id="x1y2"></div> </div> </div> <div class="rowdiv"> <div class="celldiv"> <div class="el1" id="x2y1"></div> </div> <div class="celldiv"> <div class="el1" id="x2y2"></div> </div> </div> </div> </body> </html> The content of body is dynamically generated and should be displayed as a table. Unfortunately, each cell shifts down if it contains data: expected reality --- --- --- --- | | | | | | --- --- |ABC|--- | | | | | | --- --- --- --- | | | --- --- I'm grateful for any help. Many thanks!

  • Is there a way to have element behind a div (links) clickable in areas where the div is "transparent

    - by Adam
I have a block element that is positioned absolutely and some other elements on page that are positioned fixed. The effect is the block on top floats over the page which works well. The links in the elements at the bottom underneath are not clickable. They shouldn't be when the content of the div is over them, but when the "marginal" areas which are transparent are over the links they are visible, but clicks only register to the covering div. The problem only happens when the padding covers the div. But if I just rely on the margin the bottom margin is ignored by browser so the scroll doesn't go high enough up. To solve this I resort to padding at the bottom. This is the problem. Is there a clean way around this? I realize I could have the underneath elements doubled and place on top, but opacity set to 0. That is an undesirable solution however. Sample of the problem: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang='en' xml:lang='en' xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'> <head> <style> #top, #bottom { position: fixed; border: 1 px solid #333; background-color: #eee; left: 100px; padding: 8px; } #top { top: 0; z-index: 1; } #bottom { bottom: 0; z-index: 2; } #contentWrapper { position: absolute; margin: 100px 0 0 0; /* Padding is used to make sure the scroll goes up further on the page */ padding: 0 0 100px 0; width: 600px; z-index: 3; } #content { border: 1 px solid #333; background-color: #eee; height: 1000px; } </style> </head> <body> <div id='top'><a href="#">Top link</a></div> <div id='bottom'><a href="#">Bottom link</a></div> <div id='contentWrapper'> <div id='content'>Some content</div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Firefox drags div like it was an image, javascript event handlers possibly to blame

    - by user281434
Hi, I'm using this HTML,CSS and Javascript code (in one document together if you want to test it out): <style type="text/css"> #slider_container { width: 200px; height: 30px; background-color: red; display:block; } #slider { width: 20px; height: 30px; background-color: blue; display:block; position:absolute; left:0; } </style> <script type="text/javascript" src="../../js/libs/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#slider").mousedown(function() { $(document).mousemove(function(evnt) { $("#test").html("sliding"); }).mouseup(function() { $("#test").html("not sliding"); $(document).unbind("mousemove mouseup"); });}); }); </script> <div id="test">a</div> <div id="slider_container"> <div id="slider"></div> </div> Everything (surprisingly) works fine in IE, but firefox seems to totally clusterf*ck when this javascript is used. The first "slide" is okay, you drag, it says "sliding", you drop, it says "not sliding". On the second "slide" (or mousedown if you will), firefox suddenly thinks the div is an image or link and wants to drag it around. Screenshot of the dragging: http://i.imgur.com/nPJxZ.jpg Obviously the blue div half-positioned in the red div is the one being dragged. Windows does not capture the cursor when you take a screenshot, but it's a stop sign. Is there someway to prevent this default behaviour?

  • Loading the target of a link in a <DIV> via jQuery's .live event into the same <DIV>??

    - by Martin Pescador
Hello together I call a certain div from another page with jquery to be loaded into a div on my main page like this: <script type="text/javascript"> $("#scotland").load("http://www.example.com/scotland .gallery"); </script> <div id="scotland"></div> The div I call is a piece of code which is automatically generated by a CMS made simple module, by the way. Now it comes to my problem: The .gallery div I call, looks, a little simplified, like this: <div class="gallery"> <span><img src="http://www.example.com/scotlandimage1.jpg"></span> <span class="imgnavi"><a href="link_to_next_page_with_one_image">Next image</href></span> </div> I want the "next image"-link to load the next page into the .gallery div (it is always a page with one image on it). But what it does, is, it opens the new page http://www.example.com/scotland only. I tried to use jquerys .live event to load the linked page (that would be "scotlandimage2" and the navigation, as you can see in the upper part - not only the image!), but I must have done something wrong. I tried different ways, but never got it to work. This was my last try: $(".imgnavi a").click(function() { var myUrl = $(this).attr("href"); $(".gallery").load(myUrl); return false; }); I have to admit that I am very new to jquery... But does someone know what I did wrong (do I even follow the right handlers?)? Thanks very much in advance! Martin

  • jQuery carousel in a div with display:none

    - by Fred Kafka
I have to use on my site a jQuery responsive carousel with 4 displayed items that slide one at a time, etc etc. The point is: this carousel is placed in a div with display:none and it appears clicking on a button with a slideToggle script (jQuery). Well, when the div appears the carousel is not displayed. Nothing! Notice that if I remove the display:none the carousel shows perfectly. I've tried a bunch of carousel plugin (bxslider, caroufredsel, elastislide, flexslider) and this issue happens for all of them. And then... I'm going crazy!! Excuse meSorry friends, here is the code: HTML (here is the case of FlexSlider but the code is similar for the other plugins) <div id="hiddenDiv"> <div id="hiddenDivInner"> <div class="flexslider"> <ul class="slides"> <li>...</li> <li>...</li> <li>...</li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> CSS #hiddenDiv{ display:none; padding-bottom:10px; background: url("../img/xxx.gif") repeat left bottom #FFFFFF; } SCRIPT (copy-paste from the site. This script is between $(document).ready together with other scripts. Alredy tried to remove the load function) $(window).load(function() { $('.flexslider').flexslider({ animation: "slide", animationLoop: false, itemWidth: 300, itemMargin: 5, minItems: 1, maxItems: 4 }); }); $("#trigger").click(function () { $("#hiddenDiv").slideToggle(400, "easeInOutExpo"); }); I remind you that with this code and no display:none every carousels work, also if I slide up and then down the div using the slideToggle button (#trigger).

  • jQuery: Show and hide child div when hovering

    - by Björn
Hi there, I've got a set of items. Each item has two images and some text. For the images I've created a parent div which has an overflow:hidden CSS value. I want to achieve an mouseover effect. As soon as you hover over the images I want to hide the current div and show the second div. Here's a small snippet: <div class="product-images"> <div class="product-image-1"><img src="image1.gif>" /></div> <div class="product-image-2"><img src="images2.gif" /></div> </div> I've created a small jQuery snippet: jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery('.product-images').mouseover(function() { jQuery('.product-image-1').hide(); }).mouseout(function() { jQuery('.product-image-1').show(); }); }); Now the problem is that not only the currently hovered child is hidden. Instead all other existing childs are hidden as well. I need something like "this" or "current" but I don't know which jQuery function is the right one. Any idea? Thanks, BJ

  • Selecting a div with same ID as the rel attribute of clicked link

    - by Chris
Hi there, This is a two-part question. I'm using jQuery for a project and wanting to click a link and toggle the class name "highlight" to that link and also to the div with the same id as the rel attribute of the link. I then want to be able to link to the next div without the classname of "highlight". Here's the HTML for it: <ul> <li><a href="#" rel="panel1">Item 1</a></li> <li><a href="#" rel="panel2">Item 2</a></li> <li><a href="#" rel="panel3">Item 3</a></li> </ul> <a href="">go to next div without class of highlight</a> <div id="panel1">some text</div> <div id="panel2">some text</div> <div id="panel3">some text</div> Can anyone help with jQuery side of things? Many thanks in advance!
